- Shellius, on 07/09/2008, -9/+282This gift to President Bush and his gang of thug eavesdroppers is utterly and absolutely disgusting. Every Senator took an oath to defend and uphold the Constitution, and those that are not doing it today should be removed from office.

Pennsylvania (1759) - dreepa, on 07/09/2008, -4/+83Crazy that the Dems are in Bed with the GOP... of course they really are the same party aren't they?
- SwordOfShannara, on 07/09/2008, -4/+70You can take action against this here: http://www.accountabilitynowpac.com Strangebedfellows is a right-left coalition that aims to hold these politicians accountable by removing them from office.
- mshtml, on 07/10/2008, -5/+54The two party system is not working. Open up the political process with more choices and new ideas.
- pedepy, on 07/10/2008, -4/+50what the ***** America ? ..
*facepalm* - danthemansmith, on 07/10/2008, -8/+53I agree. Anyone who voted for this criminal legislation should no longer have their job representing the citizens. I bet these jackass congressmen and women have never even read the Constitution.
- brstilson, on 07/10/2008, -2/+47That includes Obama.
- Fallout911, on 07/10/2008, -4/+47Obama can go ***** himself.
- Flipperbw, on 07/10/2008, -6/+48but I thought Obama was going to filibuster it? What happened there?
Obama fans, where did you all go? - pintomp3, on 07/10/2008, -1/+40instead of joining kucinich and impeaching the criminals, the congress puts them above the law. disgusting.
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -2/+40Or maybe tried for treason and hung?
Or maybe classified as an enemy combatants of the constitution and U.S., taken to gitmo and tortured? - inactive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+36PS - Obama voted for FISA
PSS - you've all been duped yet again. First 2006, then 2008. Stop being politicized by the 2 party system. - unknownsoldierX, on 07/10/2008, -10/+43As soon as I heard the news I tore up my voter's card. ***** Obama.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -2/+33One of the most powerful men in the world blatantly broke the law....instead of holding him responsible, the democrats actually REWARDED the guy. ***** nuts. Just ***** nuts. Shame on the democrats...they should all be held accountable come next election season for the recklessness of their votes.
- toddcat, on 07/09/2008, -5/+36Jon Turley is a credit to lawyers. He speaks truth to power. Thanks Jon. Pity our "leaders" don't follow suit.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -6/+35HAH! And you people voted in the Democrats -- including Obama, who voted FOR the bill after promising NEVER to let it pass! Yet, who will you vote for -- AGAIN? Democrats. Mindless robots.
Let's look at some of Obama's most recent legislative efforts. He has sponsored:
S.CON.RES.5 : A concurrent resolution honoring the life of Percy Lavon Julian, a pioneer in the field of organic chemistry and the first and only African-American chemist to be inducted into the National Academy of Sciences.
S.CON.RES.25 : A concurrent resolution condemning the recent violent actions of the Government of Zimbabwe against peaceful opposition party activists and members of civil society.
S.CON.RES.44 : A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of Congress that a commemorative postage stamp should be issued honoring Rosa Louise McCauley Parks.
S.CON.RES.46 : A concurrent resolution supporting the goals and ideals of Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month.
S.RES.133 : A resolution celebrating the life of Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson.
S.RES.268 : A resolution designating July 12, 2007, as "National Summer Learning Day".
S.RES.383 : A resolution honoring and recognizing the achievements of Carl Stokes, the first African-American mayor of a major American city, in the 40th year since his election as Mayor of Cleveland, Ohio.
S.RES.600 : A resolution commemorating the 44th anniversary of the deaths of civil rights workers Andrew Goodman, James Chaney, and Michael Schwerner in Philadelphia, Mississippi, while working in the name of American democracy to register voters and secure civil rights during the summer of 1964, which has become known as "Freedom Summer".
Yeah, this is one hard-charging leader. Never afraid of controversy. On the cutting edge. Just don't get a paper cut handling those Rosa Parks postage stamps. Pffft. - 3ugene, on 07/10/2008, -2/+30Well, the Obama campaign cannot justify it so they told their SMO company to not talk about it. That is why none of the active Obama diggers are in this thread, they have no reply. They are currently digging McCain dirt to make people forget about this bill.
- winmywii, on 07/10/2008, -3/+30Hill may have been right on this issue, but she is still *****.
- cyberprunes, on 07/10/2008, -0/+26For about a week I thought maybe just maybe Obama was for real. Maybe there was something to his "new politics". Well his public position on this FISA bill proves he's just a useless politician in a new suit. I've completely lost respect for him. "I oppose this bill, but I will support it" WHAT?????!!!
I am ashamed to call myself a Democrat. This Democratically led Congress is spineless and worthless (except for a few).
We elected them to office in '06 and they've done absolutely nothing but cave in to the Bush administrations every whim.
This bill is going to pass and most Americans will just shrug and go about their day. Another piece of the constitution eviscerated. Way to go Democrats, Jefferson would be so proud. - noupsell, on 07/10/2008, -4/+29this is Washington dc right? easy - so chimp wiretapped all their phones and has them blackmailed into submission
- FidelBlack, on 07/10/2008, -1/+25"Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves are its only safe depositories."
"For a people who are free, and who mean to remain so, a well-organized and armed militia is their best security."
Thomas Jefferson. - Rotzooi, on 07/10/2008, -4/+26*****
- 3ugene, on 07/10/2008, -4/+26Are you gonna wake up yet America? Obama is going to vote to give himself the same powers Bush illegally had.
- eggsovereasy, on 07/10/2008, -2/+23She voted to end the filibuster, which means she essentially voted for the bill while being able to say she didn't.
- jamesinraro, on 07/10/2008, -4/+24As an onlooking European I can only add that since Bush was re elected the world has been looking for a new model of justice and democracy. Even with its imperfections, arrogance, child like naivete, America has been that model since its inception. It was a source of values, ideals, courage and can do attitude that we all admired. Sadly, this image has been replaced with one of corruption, greed, oppression, violence, hypocrisy, and ignorance. Some glimmer of hope remains that your new president will bring back a bit of the positive qualities but we are skeptical, particularly so since Obama clearly started to slide towards the right side of the political spectrum.
- FeloniusMonkey, on 07/10/2008, -1/+20...and to think Congress will use this as a stepping stone to say, "we are breaking down the walls of bipartisanism."
What a slap in the face this is to the flock of sheep we've all become. - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -1/+20"Or maybe tried for treason and hung?"
Now that's an idea that I will endorse 100%. - Arcueid01, on 07/10/2008, -1/+20I just wanted to say awesome job to all of you people who voted for obama and mccain in the primaries and helped to ensure that this was going to pass and that nothing will be done about it in the future by any of them. Obama the spineless rat that he is has just had a long night of sleeping with McBush and has even adopted his flip-flopping principles. America, the are giving us the big red, white, and blue dick in our asses today. It was nice knowing you 4th Amendment.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+19THIS^^
I tried talking to my sister about it the other night (she's still in TX and relatively politically aware). She just told me that everything in her life has made her so busy that she can't even take time to think about the FISA situation.
This is what our 24/7/365 society has produced...and I'm very sad. - keithwalsh1972, on 07/10/2008, -5/+232008 = 1984
- honesttussey, on 07/10/2008, -1/+18Yea like that will EVER happen...you need revolt for that and 90% of America is ***** asleep and doesn't even know what the ***** FISA means. Ask them. You'll get a blank stare.
- ExOrienteLux, on 07/10/2008, -13/+29There are many reasons for a new r3VOLution to take place. This a major one. Study the Constitution. Know your Rights. Demand the rule of Law. Never forget those who voted for this bill and never vote for them again.
- Clade, on 07/10/2008, -2/+17This is important. Stop worrying about "my team vs their team" politics. Every damned Senator that voted for this atrocity needs to be voted out. Regardless of which side of the aisle they live on.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -2/+17so you do you all still see obama channeling JFK and MLK ?
- rondoda1, on 07/10/2008, -0/+14Ok that didn't work, third party anyone?
- RX9735, on 07/10/2008, -1/+15Including and especially Obama.
- dunrobin, on 07/09/2008, -3/+16Exactly right, dreeps, as this vote proves beyond any shadow of a doubt.
- Bushlied, on 07/10/2008, -1/+13This is surely evident that there is no real two party system. Only one evil intention and a two party faction. ***** this government and any one that supports it. America is not represented by government, it represented by its people. And the people aren't doing a good job at all. Wake up people it time to fight.
- theelectricafro, on 07/10/2008, -3/+15The people are not being represented. Congress has a 9% approval rating. No representation = No Taxation.
Then they will come and take your money at gun point and some people will realize they are not actually free. - wardsac, on 07/10/2008, -4/+16The future lies with the Proles.
- 3ugene, on 07/10/2008, -1/+12Protest vote please! If you don't vote, they are even happier.
- jonnyboy1544, on 07/10/2008, -1/+11Did anyone ever think that maybe, just maybe, the Dems are covering their own ass on this one (as well as Bush's)?
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -2/+12no they aren't going to wake up and that's the worst of it
- wardsac, on 07/10/2008, -3/+13Do America a favor and kill yourself.
For a "Conservative" you sure don't seem to give a ***** about the Constitution. You want a police state? YOU MOVE THE ***** OUT. We like America FREE. - cyberprunes, on 07/10/2008, -3/+13Let's just be clear. There is no better choice on the Republican side either. We're *****. McCain is a pandering flip flopping douche. His "straight talk express" is nothing more than an empty bumper sticker slogan. They both suck. They both SUCK!
- fenderjazz, on 07/10/2008, -0/+10Isn't it sad that now I'm afraid of clicking on that link for fear of being put on the NSA watch list?
- EntropyFan, on 07/10/2008, -1/+11I'll bet they have read the Constitution. I'll bet they have a much better understanding of it (from both a legal and historical perspective) then you or I will ever have.
I'll also bet they don't give a damn. The #1 use of power within our government is to maintain power. Everything else seems to be secondary. - inactive, on 07/10/2008, -2/+12he wimped out
he'll be doing a lot more of that
i could have told you that in fact i think i did but you didn't believe me
you may not believe me even now but eventually you will
and that eventually means months not even years -
