- Deadpixel1221, on 07/01/2008, -14/+272I'm glad Pixar's best movie pisses these moron's off. It only encourages support and word of mouth.
- sk11, on 07/02/2008, -12/+239Someone is going to have to explain this. In Britain, we have conservatives, the leader of which is very environmentally minded. I can't imagine anyone here seriously being against themes such as caring for the environment and minimising pollution and waste. How can people be this monumentally stupid?
- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -13/+170They've been offended by Spongebob, Tinky Winky and Big Bird. They are nuts.
- wonderbriefs, on 07/02/2008, -9/+154Many of the leaders in the American conservative party (Republican) get their money from the oil industry, and have other large corporate interests that feel threatened by anything talking about how Americans have an over-consumption problem.
- rz8472, on 07/01/2008, -18/+154I'm glad Jonah Goldberg takes offense at WALL-E. Anyone who equates liberalism with fascism when Hitler sent to the concentration camps (along with other people obviously) his political opponents - first and foremost the LIBERALS - is a complete dumbass.
- Insightful, on 07/01/2008, -16/+134Great. Stephen Colbert now has to modify his trademark phrase:
"Reality, and now Pixar movies, has a well known liberal bias. Wall-E, like that fish Nemo, bears, are all Democrats who hate America." - chris9902, on 07/02/2008, -10/+123if you rearrange the letters in 'WALL-E' you get 'Hitler'. Shocking!
- Shiftgood, on 07/02/2008, -13/+124neo-conservatives:
Proof that money cant buy you out of being white trash. - EatingPie, on 07/02/2008, -10/+93Thing about this is, it's not at all surprising. It's politics at its worse. Nothing more, nothing less.
WALL-E dealt with the environment. Therefore, for extreme conservatives it's bad, and for extreme liberals it's good. But politics isn't about thinking deeply and exploring art in its depth. It's about reacting to any surface message.
For example, WALL-E *does* criticize humanity for their treatment of the environment. But it also CELEBRATES humanity, and life -- living vs. surviving -- is not mean-spirited in its themes by any means. But this is deeper than anyone caught up in an ideology would be willing to look, especially when it challenges -- or even aligns with -- said ideology.

- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -16/+86Part of the American right wing's mindset is an unwarranted sense of persecution. They feel that they have it harder than everyone else. They actually feel like they are discriminated against because they are white and or Christian.
No, it doesn't make any sense, but neither do their economic policies, their foreign policies, their energy policies, etc. - TheKillDoctor, on 07/02/2008, -15/+81Anything that grabs more attention than their holy book is evil.
- qdkk, on 07/02/2008, -11/+77Well, then. I'm glad that the conservatives are able to recognize themselves as the antagonists and liberals as the protagonists.
- zanvann, on 07/02/2008, -4/+69American politics are far more conservative (generally) than the politics us brits are used to over here.
American left wing is much like English right wing, and American right wing is a form of scary bat ***** conservatism that I never want to see in England. (I like to call it ultra-right wing).
English left-wing (labour) in the sense of American politics is quite rare to almost non-existent. - Tyrghast, on 07/02/2008, -5/+68AND ALADDIN IS ABOUT KILLING TOWEL-HEADS!!! RAWR!!!! MCCAIN SMASH!!!!
- DeFex, on 07/02/2008, -4/+54in the US what they call "far left" is about the center anywhere else.
- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -8/+55This movie is terrible! Why aren't these theater seats wider?!
- azAZ09, on 07/02/2008, -6/+52Conservatives hating it makes me want to see it more.
- PabloMac, on 07/02/2008, -3/+47Moron's?
- mdude85, on 07/02/2008, -5/+49"Have we lost Pixar? Have we lost the wonderful studio who brought us The Incredibles and Ratatouille to Bush Derangement Syndrome?"
Ah yes, a slow degrade toward environmental conservatism from the previous high point of a cooking, talking rat. - angusm, on 07/02/2008, -9/+52WALL-E - an inconvenient fiction?
Apparently Pixar are now guilty of what Steve Bell once called "conspiracy to offend the money". - cwmather, on 07/02/2008, -5/+48Wow. I'm a conservative guy, but these people are nuts.
- SolidBones, on 07/02/2008, -5/+46I agree that the movie had a heavy "watch what the future brings for us" environmental message.
However, some people are too stupid to realize that this isn't a personal attack, nor is it a fascist recruiting. It's an encouragement to better habits, and most of all, a cute, harmless love story. - inactive, on 07/02/2008, -3/+44I got LAWL•E
- sk11, on 07/02/2008, -0/+35Yes, the blatant corruption of your government is obvious, but the comments can't all be from politicians and lobbyists, surely?
Even if I were a conservative, die hard supporter of the republican party, I'd probably just keep my mouth shut about the harm to the environment. Even Bush makes rare, vaguely sensible statements (though lacking in sincerity) about helping the environment and breaking the "oil addiction" (just before he aids certain fossil fuel companies of course). It makes no sense at all for ordinary people to be so vehemently anti-environmental though.
You may allow your boss' dog to ***** on your lawn, but you're hardly going to be thankful for it. - duggtodeath, on 07/02/2008, -10/+45Is the Right trying to be ironic? Are they just parodying themselves after a while?
- clutchperformer, on 07/02/2008, -0/+33Moral Outrage! Folks, I played WALL-E's beeps and vocalizations backwards. "BEEP BLOOP WAAAALLLLLEEE" backmasks to "I AM THE DEVIL REBORN. I SMOKE MARIJUANA. MUSSOLINI IS THE WALRUS!"
Also, I noticed the WALL-E trailer syncs up perfectly to Pink Floyd's "The Wall." Someone call Hannity. - Rodalli, on 07/02/2008, -8/+42What are you guys talking about? Conservatives are ALL ABOUT the support of art...until it presents new ideas that conflict with their delicate worldviews? o.O
Seriously, how can you praise Pixar for their past creativity and bash them for their freedom of expression in the same sentence? Conservatives to Pixar: "Your art is good, so long as it falls in line with our beliefs." What a bunch of tools. - pintomp3, on 07/02/2008, -6/+40jonah goldberg is an idiot. his appearance on the daily show was classic:
http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?vide ... - inactive, on 07/02/2008, -2/+35People like this give conservatives a bad name. It's a movie, not some political propaganda piece.
- bosssmiley, on 07/02/2008, -1/+33The dancing penguin film? You're kidding.
- chadwalters23, on 07/02/2008, -1/+31Wow. That was really good impersonation. You sounded just like him in my head.
- willclarke, on 07/02/2008, -0/+28He should throw something in about how Hollywood is pushing their robosexual agenda.
- Gimjee, on 07/02/2008, -7/+36Just watch the movie and be filled with happy.
- alperea, on 07/02/2008, -0/+28Apostrophes are NOT used for possessive pronouns or for noun plurals, including acronyms.
- egoideal, on 07/02/2008, -3/+31And yet liberals are against warrant-less wiretapping and detaining people without a trial...maybe the conservatives should start thinking about who the fascists of this country REALLY are.
- SpacePoet, on 07/02/2008, -2/+29I still don't understand how conservatives get to call themselves conservatives, because they want nothing to do with conservation.
see, works both ways. - MCA2142, on 07/02/2008, -13/+39They should also be offended by the bible.
Lots of unspeakable ***** in that book. - flashback99, on 07/02/2008, -1/+24these are neocons rather than conservatives. and also people with no sense of the difference between entertainment and the real world.
- chadwalters23, on 07/02/2008, -1/+25Thought it was Bert and Ernie that bugged 'em. All shacked up like that.
- sindex, on 07/02/2008, -1/+25Gay? Admittedly I only saw the first hour or so, but the entire film up to that point was about male penguins singing and wanting to mate.... with female penguins. It's full of sexuality (in a PG-cartoon way), but gay??? wtf?
- calu99, on 07/02/2008, -0/+23fail, see above for proper apostrophe usage
- someguyouknow, on 07/02/2008, -7/+30This is starting to become too sad to be a joke now.
I cannot believe this is real. I honestly cannot. - malex, on 07/02/2008, -0/+22Conservatives despised Blazing Saddles when it came out. It made a parody of simple farmers, people of the land, the common clay of the new West. You know... morons.
and PS, I think you meant "comedies," Mr. Job-Having Society-Contributing Grammarian. - inactive, on 07/02/2008, -3/+25Thanks for illustrating my point so clearly.
- HonestAbe, on 07/02/2008, -1/+22Conservatives give conservatives a bad name.
- Jlaugh, on 07/02/2008, -4/+24Conservatives aren't anti-big government they are pro big military, pro corporate welfare, pro big prisons, pro police-state, just anti anything that will help Americans. They are totally willing to tell other people how to live, worship, or love their country. There just to intellectually lazy to mind there own business.
- ColorBlind, on 07/02/2008, -1/+21I got We-All....ooooo creepy.
- zephc, on 07/02/2008, -2/+23It was actually "National Socialism" where the concept combines rabid patriotism with the surrendering of ones will to the state (putting the good of the state before the good of the individual) - in a note, authoritarian. Today's neocons are most like national socialists of yesteryear, with their own flag-waving super-patriotism ("my country right or wrong", etc) and super-large government policies, although the neocons are much more self-interested, and not nearly as focused as the Nazis.
The Nazis were NOT liberal by any understanding of the concept.
I can only conculde one of three possibilities:
1) You have no idea what you are talking about
2) You are a troll.
3) You so goddamn authoritarian that you make Big Brother from "1984" seem like Santa Claus -
