- SpudgeBoy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Hastert has to go. This is the same thing as the Catholic Church protecting it priests.
- FlaG8r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15He asked after it became public and he went out of his way to only ask for investigation concerning the IMs and not the Emails that he knew about last year.
His trying to cover his ass, but people aren't buying including conservatives like Reagan and Buchanan. - JBCougar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Incorrect. Hastert called for the DOJ investigation AFTER the DOJ had already started its investigation. Read more.
- bpuffer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Wrong.. you got dugg down because he knew of this months ago and there was no investigation called.
Trying to cover your ass when the heat is on you does NOT show any type of integrity whatsoever. - scottc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Of course we know that and of course it is a fact. It's just not very relevant to the article, which is calling for Hastert's resignation because he was involved in the cover-up. Once the cover was blown it was important for him to make it appear that he was concerned about the law, much in the same way that Foley appeared to be concerned about child abuse in his previous legislative efforts.
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8"they couldnt think of anything better to do"
I don't know... How about months and months of congressional circuses investigating Foley like they did Clinton? Nah, let's keep it quiet so he can keep on molesting children. - xxnilxx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6you do know that even conservatives are calling for hastert's resignation? http://thinkprogress.org/2006/10/02/hastert-resign/
and i'm sure you read this entire article which stated, despite the source being CNN, that reynolds informed hastert: "After an initial denial, Hastert's office said Reynolds brought up the issue of the e-mails in a meeting with the speaker earlier this year."
dugg up or down, you should create a pool of varying resources first and read them in their entirety. - tucsonwc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The party will NOT crumble. As long as Karl Rove can spin the conservative republisheep base. Look over THERE! Gays GETTING MARRIED!
Look over THERE! Terrarists!
Watch while we scare you and do nothing to really deal with them!
Subject 99.9 % of people to searches on planes, instead of controlling our borders and utilizing our watch lists.
Why I feel another HS Alert elevation coming! - UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Good to hear some Republicans sticking to their guns about these morality issue.
The party is about to crumble. - xxnilxx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4what is your source on them bringing this to the police? there's a difference between a crime and ethics. it is very unethical and thusly very wrong, especially for a bigoted moral republican, to induce any sexual language or actions in his/her position.
this is true for the work place, much greater as a representative of U.S citizens. - tucsonwc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3OUT HIM. Just like Dateline does with pedophiles.
Let it be known what he is doing. So everyone knows.
Tell him to resign or he'll be censured by the congress for his behavior.
Perhaps we can get Ken Starr to blow $60 mmmmillion on it. - ichbinladen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The poetic irony of this Foley scandal is just last week I read an article on Digg saying that convicts would vote Democratic (if they could). Maybe convicts have a sense for detecting pedophiles...
- Ndiggnation, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5May not agree with all of his politics, but I generally think that Michael Reagan is a stand-up guy (as was his adoptive father), that actually believes what he says, and at least has some modicum of integrity.
Hence, this call for resignation. - D0ct0rN0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You report on what happened. Who knows if there are other people out there who Foley came on to? This story is perhaps only beginning to unravel.
You do not cover it up. As Hastert did. - AjayKalra, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Its good for dems if Hastert stays along with Boehner. They can keep bringing it up in the runup to election. Then if they take the house, ***** these bastards with investigations.
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2n/m
- jjesusfreak01, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Does anyone care that the Republican leadership took this case to the local police, and they were told there was no case. After this point, they have just been keeping it quiet simply because they couldnt think of anything better to do. If he wasnt committing a crime (according to the police) what do you do?
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Modicum of integrity? Reagan wants to stick grenades up babies' butts! I didn't know he was molested as a child; maybe that explains his anal fixation.
Video of Reagan wishing he could kill children by rectal grenade:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=michael+reagan&search=Search - Egoist, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Where did you read that he molested children? I've only heard that he was cybering with minors.
- Yage2006, on 10/12/2007, -11/+9Yay less republicans in office :)
- DeadDragon, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2I like how you jump to the conclusion hes guilty of covering up something illegal, I'm amazed that you know what he did, without any facts.
He should only resign if he actually knew something was going on that was illegal, and I want to wait till the investagation is over and we have some facts before i decide, i guess thats too hard some people. - DeadDragon, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2@JBCougar
Where did you see that?Linky?
FTA
"Gonzales plans to formally notify Hastert as early as Monday that the FBI has opened an initial inquiry into possible criminal violations by Foley, Justice Department sources said Monday."
Sure looks to me that Hastert asked for the investagation , and the DOJ is replying - DeadDragon, on 10/12/2007, -17/+10You do know it was Hastert who asked the Justice department to investigate? To get anyone who was involved or knew about it?
http://edition.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/10/02/foley.quits/
I'm sure I'll be Dugg down for stating a fact - tsf5000, on 10/12/2007, -13/+5i agree with you about stating facts here. it seems the knee-jerk response of people here is to digg down anything that says something they don't want to hear (or read in this case).
- DeadDragon, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3@FlaG8r
"His trying to cover his ass" By asking to be investagaterd (along with everyone else) by the Justice Department? Ok sure
