- adb44, on 10/11/2007, -6/+39"Whereas in February 2004, President George W. Bush stated that if anyone in his Administration “has violated [the] law, that person will be taken care of”;"
That one's not necessarily a lie, eh? - TheLastProphet, on 10/11/2007, -7/+34Awesome, hope he supports IMPEACHMENT as well.
- Moskie, on 10/11/2007, -8/+33"Bu$h"?
Please. Grow up. - rtombleson, on 10/11/2007, -6/+23The dollar sign is completely necessary..
- neptytune, on 10/11/2007, -6/+21Big deal! Censure is less than a slap on the wrist.
- theNazz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11The White House took care of the leak by obstructing justice so that the leak would not be found.
Tada! - drc500free, on 10/11/2007, -5/+13Buried for childish use of $.
- danakin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Oooh, censure! That'll teach 'em!
Congress hasn't even really gotten the ball rolling on impeachment, I doubt they have the nads to do anything at all. - joshua5, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I'm so sick of this non-binding *****.
- Jade10145, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7How about this, Bush has said that the sentence was "excessive", and this is why the sentence was commuted, yet, with an obstruction of justice, the average sentence is more than five years; with perjury, the average is 21 months, records show, Libby was convicted of both..
So to me it sounds like Libby got off a little light if anything..
On a side not, I wonder how some people still defend and support George Bush and his administration, honestly it seems that all the cards are pretty well laid out..
Are they afraid to admit that they perhaps choose the wrong candidate to vote for, much like Bush is perhaps to afraid to admit that Iraq is not going so well.
Also, as for those who explain Bush is just excercising his right as president to commute or pardon, just because Bush has the right to do it, does not make it right. - zweben, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7"Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Fla., plans to introduce resolution to censure Bu$h for commuting Scooter's prison sentence."
Translated: Rep. Robert Wexler plans to present a decision to express severe dissaproval of Bush. He is *planning* to say that he *intends* to *express his dissaproval* in writing.
Could he be any more irresolute? I'm so sick of politicians threatening to consider to think about making a plan to express their displeasure. Just DO IT or STFU and GTFO.
/vent - johnhummel, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Yeah. Instead of going after people for NSA spying (which so far still hasn't been deemed legal), or torture, or people lying to Congress (oh, I don't know who decided to fire these attorneys - I can't remember my own name!), leaking the name of an undercover agent, lying about causes to go to war with Iraq - instead of investigating these and impeaching for these crimes, instead they're going to have another toothless "censure".
Reminds me of parents who tell little Johnny if he doesn't stop taking the other kids' toys, they're going to be very disappointed with him. Then they wonder why little Johnny does whatever he wants and acts like a hellion. - omgTHEPATRIOTS, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Thats my boy Wexler! Cocaine and hookers!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7B-b-b-but ... CLINTON!
- swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5He hasn't issued a pardon, and won't until right before he leaves office, because once Libby is pardoned he can no longer plead the fifth.
the controversy isn't about the fact that Bush used his legal authority to pardon, the controversy is the circumstances surrounding the pardon. The circumstances being Bush using his pardon as leverage to prevent Libby from testifying truthfully. Basically accessory to obstruction of justice. - crispee, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I agree. Political posturing is lame. We should impeach Bush and then try him for war crimes.
- InfamousAtheist, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Sure, there's a difference... a capitalized letter.
I'll take your comments seriously when you grow up and stop with the name calling. Until then, your opinion means about as much as any other one-sided extremist's (from either side of the aisle): NOTHING - DoctaStooge, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5"...Congress must step forward and express the disgust that Americans rightfully feel toward this contemptible decision," Wexler said
Wexler, the majority of Americans want the US out of Iraq and the middle east, that's why the majority of you on the hill are of the Democratic party right now. If you really want to express our disgust, forget about a non-binding resolution and get our troops home and get Bush/Cheney out of our ***** government. - kd1s, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I'd say that Bush could call this a hostile congress. Good, this should have happened a few years ago.
The impeachment drumbeat is getting louder and closer too. Republicans are in between a rock and a hard place right now. If they don't go along on impeachment they pretty much hand over control to the Democratic party right then and there. At least if they vote to impeach they have some chance of saving their own skin. - swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4the controversy isn't about the fact that Bush used his legal authority to pardon (or commute), the controversy is the circumstances surrounding the clemency. The circumstances being Bush using his pardon as leverage to prevent Libby from testifying truthfully. Basically accessory to obstruction of justice.
- mirunit, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Question: Will anything happen? Answer: No

- Magillicutti, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8 I enjoy cocaine because... it's a fun thing to do.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Possible future news: Bush pardons Paris Hilton after she kills 14 children while driving drunk and on cocaine, saying "I know how she's suffered"; Bush pardons Cheney after Cheney shoots the face off three Congressman, saying "Anyone can make a simple mistake with a shotgun like this in the Capital Dome while Congress is in session"; Bush pardons Rumsfeld over torture at Abu Ghraib, saying "Heck, they's all guilty of bein nappy haids anyway"; and Bush pardons himself after killing his wife, saying "Who the fsck cares, I'm the King and can do anything I want to, the beeyotch had it coming".
Meanwhile, DHS puts up a Red Alert stating termites are eating the White House and we must go to war against termites. - swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4the controversy isn't about the fact that Bush used his legal authority to pardon (or commute), the controversy is the circumstances surrounding the clemency. - zyl0x, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3So.. all this work and all it means is that the House thinks Bush was in the wrong.. officially? What's the point of that?
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -1/+4LOOK OUT, HE'S GOT A CENSURE RESOLUTION IN HIS POCKET
- Protean1, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Big damn waste of time. Either file criminal charges for any number of things, or don't bother. Anything less is just a political ploy to distract the anger of the American people.
- Bdog2g2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3"Not a Republican, a republican. There's a difference."
One's a bigger idiot? I give up. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3"non-punishment Bill received for workplace sexual harassment and felony perjury. "
Bill Clinton was not convicted of perjury. Nor has he been convicted of sexual harassment. Scooter Libby was convicted in a trial by a jury.
Can you see how that is different, Jim? - Waiting2awake, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3as long as you prefer to sleep rather than live up to your citizenry duty , there will never be any reason for them to do anything.
Please wake up. - Waiting2awake, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3@BOGIE
POINT 1 - You are a partisan hack - not fit for speaking.
POINT 2 - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Don't confuse neo-con ***** with true classical conservatives. - swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4the controversy isn't about the fact that Bush used his legal authority to pardon, the controversy is the circumstances surrounding the pardon. The circumstances being Bush using his pardon as leverage to prevent Libby from testifying truthfully. Basically accessory to obstruction of justice.
- swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Bush "doesn't know" Ken Lay.
- swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5the controversy isn't about the fact that Bush used his legal authority to pardon, the controversy is the circumstances surrounding the pardon. The circumstances being Bush using his pardon as leverage to prevent Libby from testifying truthfully. Basically accessory to obstruction of justice.
- Waiting2awake, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3 If it wasn't so sad it would be funny. Here is an idea - lets all argue about who started the hole in the boat - instead of fixing it.
Bush did it!
Bush did it because Clinton!!
Clinton did it because of Bush.
Bush did it because Regon did it.
Regan did it because Carter did it...
and the wheel just keeps on turning as America dies for lies. - Drakkor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Please wake me up, when Congress actually does something !!
- swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2the public is unhappy with the congress because the congress refuses to deal effectively with Bush's abuses of power. I'll bet congress' approval rating goes up 20% if Bush is actually censured.
- Waiting2awake, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2 They haven't really. They are playing their part as America dies. There are not two parties. Only one, with different factions.
- cesig, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Jeez. At least come up with something better than "libtard."
And while you're at it, stop the brainless partisanship. It doesn't help anything. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Yeah, you right wingers shouldn't worry about the next election. It's only a few liberals that are upset by this. Relax. You have nothing to worry about.
- Drakkor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I hold government officials responsilble, just like in China, where they hanged the head of the FDA, for coruuption... believe me, that would be a detterent ! These ***** are nothing but war profiteers.
- Fallout911, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Anything that can expose and hurt king George Bush is welcomed.
We must dethrone the Bush crime family from power! - Waiting2awake, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2 Yea, why not lump Weed users with cocaine - and think that a comman criminal is akin to a charge of Treason...
What the heck happened to America? - swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2How about this, Libby would have squealed like the swine he is rather than go to prison, and this is why the sentence was commuted. And yes, some people are too cowardly to admit they were wrong.
- Waiting2awake, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2 and as a conservative, I can't figure out if you are a partisan hack, or just a retarded hamster standing on a keyboard... Questions we wait the universe to answer for us......
- astyanax, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I hope this passes, perhaps some of the last shred of faith many (including myself) have in Congress may be bolstered somewhat. I have to wonder if this wording will remain unchanged though. Not that even Republicans have much good to say about the president nowadays, but still...
- floorman56, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Roger Clinton might also be considered
I was no friend of Bill but if you can't do something for your family....why do any thing at all - insomniacal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2There they go again -- proposing alternatives to impeachment because they haven't got the guts. Democrats have abdicated.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1How does the fact that another Bush staffer (who served in the Reagan administration as well) carried out the administrations policy of treasonous exposure of a covert agent make Libby's perjury and obstruction OK?
