- fpcyber, on 10/10/2007, -4/+27He can get the two-mode hybrid Tahoe in a few weeks, getting 20/27 mpg. People will the praise him to be environmental friendly.
http://www.chevrolet.com/hybrid/ - SnuKs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22What you'd expect from tryin to take a Texan's truck? =P
- schroeder, on 10/10/2007, -6/+20"The Congress must use low greenhouse gas-emitting vehicles. It's the same thing they require of federal agencies... even Bush has to comply with these standards..."
There is no reason he needs to ride around in a huge truck. I take it that this is only for government vehicles. If he wants his own Tahoe it's his business. Suck it up and get in a car you spoiled brat! - DigTheDoug, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14No, he's not, he's a Republican from Texas...but it was a good try.
- 0xbaadf00d, on 10/10/2007, -18/+30So if a person has a large family and also likes to tow a large boat, you don't think they should be allowed to buy a large vehicle? I thought I lived in a free country.
- DigTheDoug, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16Way to miss the point entirely. This is for vehicles that government officials lease with taxpayers' money, not some dude driving to his construction site.
- Quakee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9actually he's a republican. And you're an idiot.
- Khook20, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13Talk about product placement...
- SnuKs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Hey here is a great idea, read the article, watch the clip, know the facts before your waste your time with a long comment like that.
- Ndiggnation, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12Awwww, poor privileged Congressman, I weep for you if this is the pressing problem in your life.
- superpixel, on 10/10/2007, -41/+48Durn straight! We have the right to drive the biggest, most wasteful penis replacements we want to in this country! Why, you can't crush and kill a terrorist in your pathetic Prius, can you?
*sigh* What a frickin' tool. Well buddy, at least you got yours. Screw the future! - bonesaw, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10That's a great point. All of these people cry about their freedoms being taken away at the same time they are trying to take away ours. I guess their reaction just depends which set of freedoms are being taken away.
- smartmlp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6You miss the point, Hybrid technology could save SUV's from destruction.
- Nortaak, on 10/10/2007, -13/+18Whatever happened to leading by example? And just how is it that these clowns "represent" the people when most citizens have realized that global warming is an issue? Politics are broken, the system doesn't work for the common person. An old saying comes to mind "do as I say, not as I do"
- ImOscar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5A congressman is supposed to support his constituents. His district includes Arlington, Texas. As much as I support the measures the amendment they were adding, I think the congressman was doing his job. Man I hate living in Texas. I've gotten numerous response letters from my senators saying essentially "Thanks for your opinion, but YEEHAW, TEXAS" That's the point I imagine them shooting pistols into the air.
- rwvalentine, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5not true, i drive an acura and my weeny is tiny
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9He will pay more in taxes through gas.
By the way let me ask you what type of car do you suggest we northerners drive when I have to drive through 4 feet of snow? Hybrid batteries are nearly useless do to the sub zero temps during winter. - gogun, on 10/10/2007, -6/+11I want all cops to drive mopeds
- amitku, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7At least he was honest and up front about his reasons. I know that's a really low bar, but at this point, I'll take what I can get....
- JigoroKano, on 10/10/2007, -12/+17You didn't read the article at all. You had a knee jerk reaction. And now you look like the fool you are.
- cnot3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5He's a ***** democrat you douche.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4because in soviet russia, YOU READ THE ***** ARTICLE.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8If we ban PC use to only thirty minutes a day for personal use we could stop global warming today!
Hello... is any body there... what I said is true but you so called "greenies" won't dare cut back to save the Earth how dare you! - nblsavage, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4This is ONLY for goverment vehicles. You *DID* watch the video didn't you?
- cbuddha42, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Maybe he's pointing out that it's a ***** metaphor.
- BOFH2, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9So everyone driving a larger vehicle is lacking physically? So if we go by that logic the person that does not own any vehicle has the largest? Stop living under the feminist umbrella.
BAH! - nblsavage, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4No moron - (R) the 1st guy in the video isn't the one with the Tahoe. Try watching the dammed thing.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -10/+14The Chevy Tahoe is manufactured in his district, why do you guys chastise him for doing what hes supposed to do and represent his district?
- ngmcs8203, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6I was diggin you all the way until your last line. Some states ban smoking in public enclosed buildings for health reasons to humans. Raising emissions standards and holding manufacturers responsible is a good idea. I whole heartedly support that and was looking forward to buying a new "eco friendly" SUV to replace my Denali later this year. The effects that nicotine and tobacco produce are more immediate to our health than that of higher CO2 emissions. Yes in the long run pollution will kill our planet and what not... but I'll probably die of lung cancer way before that happens if somebody felt it necessary to light up a cancer stick next to me every day.
- nblsavage, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6You expect people to actually watch/read the linked article? You must be new here.
- guest2117, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5let's not make hasty generalizations
- mervis, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Screw cars, I ride a covered wagon. OREGON TRAIL I MISS YOU!
- lavoie0ca, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6ngmcs, thats what a minivan is for.
As for towing boats, just get a smaller more efficient vehicle, and use the savings in gas to pay for moorage. Theres not many places where you would take your large boat to multiple places that you couldn't get to by water. - sundancekid503, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3"Oh well, good luck with your ranting. Torch any 4runners lately, or did you 4get?"
No, but I used to own one. I'm simply saying that I think it's good to push for cleaner vehicles. There have been regulations on the books regarding vehicles almost since the first vehicle was invented. You're not losing any rights here, and even when tighter restrictions are implemented the usually "grandfather" in older vehicles. Pollution sucks, and if we can take steps to avoid it, why shouldn't we? I don't think ANYONE likes having a brown haze in the air. - truck87bp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+31. You are the the very persons that are selling out American jobs and plunging the mortgage markets by buying Foreign cars, you are traders!
2. For your information, GM has has matched Toyota's Quailty and Honda says GM's sheet metal, witch is most of the car, is better than the new Honda Pilot that isn't even out yet. So stuff your Detroit lagging behind crap where it came from.
3. The new Malibu has been redesigned, its beautiful, High Quality and Toyota has said that they are afraid that its going to hurt Camry sales. You may have given up but GM didn't. - rwvalentine, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4i don't consider co2 a pollutant.
if it is a problem, then we need to conquer china & india to affect it at all - cbuddha42, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3If people want to pay more money for more convenience, then that is there choice. People make bad economic choices every day, but that doesn't mean the government should dictate what they buy.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Of course there are, smaller lower power PCs. Make everyone use low powered laptops. So what if they cost more and the frame-rate sucks on stuff. You care about the planet right? You arnt a selfish piece of ***** are you? You are fine with giving up something you enjoy to save the earth right?
Oh, so you only want to make OTHER people give up things they enjoy. I get it, you are a liberal. - Lyk4n, on 10/10/2007, -10/+13Look at the idiocy we have to deal with at the capital!
- cbuddha42, on 10/10/2007, -0/+31) You don't know he will vote for the Energy Bill; he will quite likely vote against it.
2) I don't think there is a requirement to use low greenhouse emitting vehicles for anyone not in Congress.
3) The Tahoe was made in his district. I'm sure selling Tahoes has a much greater impact on the lives of people in his district than global warming. I don't know how you can claim he isn't representing the people he is supposed to. If anything, the move struck me as pandering to his base as he quite likely cares more that people thinking he's fighting for Tahoes than what car he drives to work tomorrow. Just because his ideas do not agree with yours does not mean that he is not representing the common person of his district.
Disclaimer: I RTFA, I did not watch the flash video. I assume that the author captured the important points of the video in his writing. - norman619, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5This is freaking obvious. It's not about his damn Tahoe. It's about looking like he's fighting to keep jobs in his district. The obvious logic here is that of Tahoes no longer make the cut the plants in his district which produce these vehicles will be forced to close and then people will be out of jobs.
Now I could be totally off on this and this really could be about his love for his large car. If that's the case then he does not belong in that seat. He is supposed to be looking out for the interests of the people who elected him not his own. - dupswapdrop, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Your tax dollars at work.
- bobcrotch, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4You can't pull a very large trailer with an S-10, or haul very much crap.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3if i can drive around an entire drumset, a halfstack, a golf bag full of cymbal stands and a passenger in my thrashed little 94 buick century, a whiny ***** congressman can squeeze his ass into a normal sized car and stop crying like a little bitch. i swear to god these ***** pussies will bitch about anything as long as it has to do with what they want. throw him the ***** out.
- aeiou, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3How about a Subaru?
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4"Anthropogenic Climate "
There's a nice unprooven theory. Oh yeah I forgot the debate is over.... STFU please? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6I always think it is hilarious when the bleeding brain enviro morons yap about alternative fuel supply that will not disrupt the enviroment. I want someone to show me any sort of energy supply that doesnt affect the enviroment in some way.
- 0xbaadf00d, on 10/10/2007, -7/+10Is he telling you not to drive a Tahoe? How is it "do as I say, not as I do?" I think it is people like you trying to tell people what they can and can't do.
- ImOscar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3How is Pake getting dugg up and DigTheDoug is getting dugg down.
The guy contending the amendment was a Republican. - robwilkens, on 10/10/2007, -6/+9Because I don't live in his district, and this is a national/international discussion board.
