- Styve, on 10/11/2007, -4/+32Go Leahy and Conyers!! Conyers was already harassed by the FBI, the very day that the subpoenas were issued. The Bush Administration must be stopped, and before Cheney nukes Iran. Why isn't Congress addressing Bush's emergency dictator EO, like immediately?
- smokecheck, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17Talk is cheap, money buys whiskey. This is a nice start. I hope it actually makes some progress.
- DrDissonance, on 10/11/2007, -5/+12Too bad its the Justice Dept that is responsible for enforcing subpoenas...and we know whose pocket Alberto Gonzales is in.
- greenback1, on 10/11/2007, -4/+27Send in a Marine unit. We'll force Bush and crew into an armed standoff at the White House. We know Cheny can shoot people in the face but can Bush handle a gun?
- nigh7dagger, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2You are the biggest dumbass I have ever heard. Who's going to order them to do it? Bush just happens to be at the top of the chain of command. That means that nobody, from a E-1 on his first day of boot camp all the way up to General Peter Pace, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to the SecDef, can override the order. And there's a little thing called the Posse Comitatus Act. The military cannot be used inside the nation's borders.
Even if all of that wasn't true and you could send in a Marine unit, why would you send in the Marines? They aren't a SWAT team. They are there for invasions of nations, not taking out a single man, except for maybe Force Recon. And if you sent in a Force Recon team they would be picked off by the Secret Service snipers on top of the White House.- greenback1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1you need to relax, guy. obviously the 22 others here who have DUGG my post got the gist of my sarcasim. oh, by the way, Congress can enforce the law, it is their duty, not the duty of the executive branch.

- corvin, on 10/11/2007, -5/+33They THREATEN that they're gonna enforce the subpoena?!?!?
Aren't they supposed to enforce it? Why threaten? Just grow some balls and enforce it. God, This is why congress has a lower approval rating than Bush.- mwayne, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1< They THREATEN that they're gonna enforce the subpoena>
And how do you propose they do that?

- laterthandawn, on 10/11/2007, -5/+16congress threatens white house with possibility of doing its job...?
killer. - anteyekon4myst, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Isn't this one of the reasons the NRA uses to defend the validity of the 2nd amendment?
- williamdyer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3It's why they call it "The First Freedom." Freedom sometimes must come from the barrel of a gun.
- mithrasinvictus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1We'll see in the coming weeks whether the second serves to deliver us from tyrants or just for shooting old men in the face.
I think you are off-topic.
- KhanneaSuntzu, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Great, I can see this coming, a standoff of one executive branch of government bunch of black clad stormtroopers with G36 short carbines with another bunch of similar stormtroopers, glaring menacingly at another, somewhere in the middle an extremely nervous suit waving a bunch of papers the other side does its best to ignore. I'd expect this crap in a turd world country.
I.e. : Failed State.- TheWriteGuy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2That's what makes me wonder: Does Congress actually have the power to summon armed personnel, a formidable force? (And whom do they call up?) As a poster mentioned above, the Justice Department is pretty much owned and controlled by the President.
- mwayne, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1No, they don't
- FeloniousMonk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0I think the simple fact that the citizens and their representatives are willing to take up arms against an unjust and corrupt government is proof that the system works. only assuming we the people and our representatives do, in fact, take up arms.
just because we don't do it, but instead hire/appropriate soldiers to do it for us just shows a sign of the times. why do it yourself when you can hire somebody better than you to do it for you?- mwayne, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Digg-nuts and firearms?

- Stormflux, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0This actually happened in Russia a few years back. As I recall, the congress didn't have an army and surrendered after a few hours of shelling. Says a lot about where our country is headed.
- mithrasinvictus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Cheney will just trap them in his stormtrooper-sized safes.

- wiremonkeymommy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7pretty scary when Pelosi says she can't trust the courts to render an impartial decision based on well understood, scrutinized and, for the most part, tested law.
- Stormflux, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4That's because Bush appoints his drinking buddies with no legal experience as judges.
- Retsep, on 10/11/2007, -7/+3Do the these people think that harassing a president who will be out of office in January 2009 anyway is getting something done?
- Stormflux, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4You mean like harassing Nazi war criminals after the WWII is already over? It's a little thing called justice - perhaps you've heard of it?
- liberalplacebo, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2....you're dealing with liberal moonbats here. Their juvenile thought process is not developed enough to get past their "feelings"...so they "think" with their feelings instead of using their brains. Joseph Stalin had a term for them...'useful idiots'
- mithrasinvictus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1WTF, you voted a dictator into office and now you call people that want to call him to justice stupid? And you then go on to quote a communist dictator?
What kind of republican are you?- nickymouse, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0I'm sorry, how is he a dictator? He was voted in and won the Electoral College. He only went to war with congress's approval. He fired attorneys, which is under his authority. Why is he a dictator? Why throw that term so loosely? Do you know what a dictator is? A dictator rules by his/her decree and reserves absolute authority. You want to know what a dictator is? Hugo Chavez is a dictator. He rules by decree, he controls the media, he tells famers how much to grow, he takes businesses away from people. I can go on for days.
Goto a non-government ran school and get a proper education.

- michaelinnotts, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Stop digging Rawstory pieces and give us real news. Rawstory is rhetorically just as bad as Fox News, although ethically much more agreeable, of course.
- liberalplacebo, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2rawstory = raw sewage ..........no better than crooksandliars...........just like moveon.org ....
They pump out the Liberal Stooge Bait faster than you can read the stories, and since there is NO shortage of liberal stooges here at DIGG, it gets swallowed up like a ham sandwich....... - runninbroke, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Keith Olbermann is still on the air??? - COINTELPROAgent, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Who, the canadians? Shut the ***** up.
- nickymouse, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Congress sucks so bad that they need to divert attention a way from them. The President may be on my nerves right now over the immigration crap, but he has the power to fire any of the attorneys. He was trying to extend an olive branch to democrats by not being like Clinton and firing every attorney. However, this plan back fired.
Why does congress waste it's time with GW? He'll be out next year. Shouldn't they focus on members of congress being charged with corruption and bribery, creating bills and solutions for immigration, Iraq, energy independence, and earmarks? I think all of us can agree both liberal and conservative, we need some term limits for Congress!
