- mbonzo531, on 04/09/2008, -4/+155Why is everyone so worked up about experience?
The Founding Fathers created the executive branch so that minimal experience was necessary, that way they could try to prevent professional politicians. The preventing of the professional politician thing didn't turn out well... but most of the best presidents judged by political scientist had no political experience at all. Presidents like Nixon, Carter, Buchanan... are often listed in the worst 5 Presidents ever, but had the most political experience in their resumes compared to Presidents such as FDR, Reagan, Eisenhower... Clinton and McCain are making experience an issue even though the Constitution makes it unnecessary and it has been revealed unnecessary throughout history. - smacksaw, on 04/09/2008, -9/+156FTA: "Obama's campaign is loaded with innovative talent of the sort that created the most effective grassroots-based, internet fundraising system in American political history."
See Paulites? This is where we failed. Their grassroots was respectful. Even today on Digg they bury stupid comments and move along. Our forums were whacked-out anarchists and Ayn Rand lovers having a pissing contest over who was the biggest ***** Objectivist and insulting people for actually supporting Obama. Obama's people were talking about issues, not philosophy. And while we treated them like *****, they AND Obama looked for a way to listen to us and at least pay documentable lip-service to using our ideas if they were good.
We ran a campaign where we planned for anointing Ron Paul our Libertarian King. Obama has run a campaign where he will serve the interests of everyone. Will he do it? He'll have to reneg on a lot of promises if he doesn't. But that's why he's still in the race and we're not. His grassroots was awesome. Our was a pissing contest to see if anarchists or objectivists could win in shouting down everyone else. - inactive, on 04/09/2008, -2/+52Yah FDR only guided us out of the Great Depression and led us through WW2. What a bastard.
- rossmcd, on 04/09/2008, -1/+47What's your basis for saying that Obama does not follow the constitution?
- wild, on 04/09/2008, -4/+49Wow man. Well said.
- tmyprod, on 04/09/2008, -0/+34I'm not sure where the Fantastic Four are but I'm sure you could email them or something.
- Fullvinyl, on 04/09/2008, -0/+25So you would rather the country have been stuck in the Great Depression? You would rather families have kept on starving and massive swathes of the population remained unemployed in the name of democracy? Then you, sir, are a true patriot and are to be commended. I'm guessing you make it a habit not to spare a dime when asked.
- jsmith39, on 04/09/2008, -1/+26Oh don't worry, we're not going anywhere. Let me guess, lower to middle middle class upbringing, always told how the social welfare system is destroying our country and how FDR was the main implimentor of the downfall of democracy? How it was actually unconstitutional of him to create hundreds of thousands of jobs on the American taxpayers dime while vastly improving the national infrastructure. These same arguments never mentioned the consequences of not enacting social programs did they? Like say armed revolution, communist revolt or did your parents/grandparents/you really think over 100 million people were just going to quietly starve to death while their 'betters' lived the high life?
See my dad despite being a great guy taught me a bunch of BS while I was growing up too, but then I learned how to read and think on my own. You should try, then maybe we can go somewhere. - neognostic, on 04/09/2008, -0/+23http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/choi ... Just so you know how out of step you are, scroll to the bottom of the article.
- FarvaRadio, on 04/09/2008, -2/+24They are playing Final Fantasy while the Fruit ***** runs rampant all over the city. In other news, Gabe is caught playing Fatal Fury on a hacked up neo-geo. More on this development at 6. Now for the weather with Ollie Williams: "ITS GONNA RAIN". Thanks Ollie.
- inactive, on 04/09/2008, -2/+23Don't expect a response any time soon :o)
- weaksnyc, on 08/14/2009, -0/+19Good work COIson... you've just attempted to make a connection between pop music popularity , judged by teenagers on the merits of "being cool", and a historical rating of past presidents, judged by tenured professors at multiple prestigious colleges and universities. Your logic is infallible.
- AmaDaden, on 04/09/2008, -2/+20Pro-tip! Quick posts that say nothing more then a vague threat about how one or more candidates suck does nothing to make people see your point of view. It is in fact thought by many as proof that your point of view is invalid because you have nothing of substance to say about it.
- Gerz1219, on 04/09/2008, -1/+18Ironically, if it hadn't been for FDR's policies, we would have seen a true socialist revolution (or did you think a destitute society with 25% unemployment was just going to keep sneezing off the promise of economic equality decades before Marxist theory had been discredited?). FDR's programs staved off the revolution.
- rossmcd, on 04/09/2008, -0/+16Interesting, but I think you'll find that the facts in that video are disproven here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrMJew6ncMM - inactive, on 04/09/2008, -2/+18what the ***** are you talking about? - also you see that button up there that says hide profanity - click it
- neognostic, on 04/09/2008, -1/+17Look at how he is running his campaign, not how a few diggers act. That is what the article is about and what smacksaw is talking about. We love to talk about issues, but when certain diggers (you know who you are) who don't like Obama simply throw out hate messages and unsubstantiated diatribes, we do respond, some better than others.
- citizenchan, on 04/09/2008, -1/+17And I'm pretty sure the Founding Fathers didn't have any experience starting new countries before either. While they did a lot of things wrong, we still use the Constitution they wrote as the basis for all human rights laws in the US.
- jsmith39, on 04/09/2008, -0/+14Raised in a middle class white neighborhood, I was extremely racist growing up, and a die hard republican. I joined the army at the age of 20 because I couldn't find a job that paid more than minimum wage and didn't have the money for college. I spent 8 years in Army combat arms units, it is the nature of the beast that military personnel are by and large conservatives, it is a conservative and paternal orginization. When I got out I started going to college and to be blunt I hated my peers for their lilly livered pandering ways, after I got out of college I began reading history and social books for my own personal learning. A)Don't accuse me of of having an arsenal of fluff and puff stories B) Don't accuse me of being narrow minded C)Notice that I followed your previous post up with a legitimate request for you to explain your point.
- drmangrum, on 04/09/2008, -0/+13I would actually prefer someone with limited experience in that office. A professional politician with tons of experience is concerned with only one thing: personal power.
A relative unknown would make mistakes, but they would be honest mistakes, not miscalculations in some great political agenda. - BishkekBuddy, on 04/09/2008, -0/+13Calm down, calm down... If you do the math, he's got it won (CNN's delegate tracker tool allows you to fiddle around with the remaining contests and if you split every contest and all the superdelegates down the middle 50/50, he comes out on top with more than the 2024 needed). I rather enjoy watching HRC continue to hang herself... by the time the Dems meet in Denver, she won't have any power left at all at all...
- Coven, on 04/09/2008, -3/+14Why did McCain seek the endorsement of John Hagee for over a year?
- br0ck, on 04/09/2008, -2/+13Digg is a user generated site that is as good as you make it. You've only dugg 5 articles and made 1 comment in 6 months. If you want different content, then contribute by clicking 'upcoming' every day in the 'world and business' section and then digg up a few articles that you like. If you don't want to see election news at all, then simply go to http://digg.com/settings/topics and uncheck 'US Elections 2008' and then click 'Save Changes'.
- Exbzurq, on 04/09/2008, -0/+10Did you post that using FireFox while munching on some Forbidden Fruit?
- neognostic, on 04/09/2008, -3/+13Obviously neither of you have seen the entire sermons, so until you do, please quit posting this drivel.
- jsmith39, on 04/09/2008, -2/+12So back it up, you're submitting the idea that FDR was the worst president ever, tell us why. Rationally.
- leerayIG88, on 04/09/2008, -0/+9Pres. Bush skills; constructs barracks, constructs War Factory, builds mammoth tanks, insufficient funds.
- MaximusD, on 04/09/2008, -2/+11Arguing with an objectivist is like running in the special Olympics. Even if you win...
- forgiste, on 04/09/2008, -0/+9You mean bush/cheney?
- SmartfulDodger, on 04/09/2008, -0/+9The Clinton's may be making experience an issue now, but it was a different story back when Bill was running. Bush Sr. had YEARS of experience against Clinton, and lost the campaign. I call flip-floppery on the Clinton's!
- Ouze, on 04/09/2008, -1/+10That's the most stupid ***** I have ever read on digg, and i've seen some next-level stupidity here. All the RP stories buried as spam - What world do you live in where the front page of Digg wasn't Ron Paul central for the last year? Where 5/10 of the top popular stories were about this weeks money bomb?
- RetlawST, on 04/09/2008, -2/+11Actually, if any of the candidates has a chance of serving everybody's interest, it would be Obama. He's continually shown the desire to hold discourse on subjects and is willing to listen. He may not agree with what is said, but many of his bi-partisan efforts have been successful because of this.
This should not be an us versus them situation, there should always be a healthy balance of liberal minds and conservative minds working together to make this country work. Your desire to only have your needs met without considering the needs of others disgusts me quite honestly. - inactive, on 04/09/2008, -1/+10Who needs superdelegates when you've got comedians who haven't been relevant in 30+ years?
- pintomp3, on 04/09/2008, -2/+10why does mccain have a spiritual guide who called upon Christians to wage a "war" against the "false religion" of Islam with the aim of destroying it?
http://www.motherjones.com/washington_dispatch/200 ... - Hillsfar, on 04/09/2008, -5/+13Look, all the candidates have baggage. Clinton has her Bosnia lies, Health care lie, experience lie, fratricide, other lies too numerous to mention, etc. McCain has his numerous flip-flops, anger management issues (called his wife a ***** in front of reporters, called fellow senators ***** and jerks to their faces), and Rev. Hagee. Obama has Rev. Wright and an unfortunate middle name.
None of the three have executive experience in the White House. However, Obama is executing the best campaign, running it the most eloquent way, without taking lobbyist money, he really understands all the issues, and he's got some significant legislative achievement from his time in the Illinois Senate, and for someone who is a junior senator in a deadlocked U.S. Senate. - getrealnow, on 04/09/2008, -20/+28I ***** hate hillary, she needs to drop out NOW
- pintomp3, on 04/09/2008, -2/+9Nobama, clever. who do you support? Ron LOL?
- HellDonut, on 04/09/2008, -1/+8So I guess it's good that that list is full of *****, right? That's a big IF.
- AmaDaden, on 04/09/2008, -2/+9Dugg down because profanity is awsome
- neognostic, on 04/09/2008, -0/+7Unfortunately the facts seem to contradict that old Republican saw of the tax and spend Democrats. Go to the link and then you can see which party leaves office more fiscally responsible, and yet they don't hurt the GDP. Thanks for playing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_debt_by_U.S. ...
- Hypersapien, on 04/09/2008, -1/+8It's not that he has more experience, he's just more competent.
- wild, on 04/09/2008, -7/+14As much as I liked the ideas of this opinion piece, it didn't really have much meat to it.
Basically Obama's campaign is being run in a better fashion than Hillary's. No ***** Sherlock, but give me some real conversational facts about it. - drmangrum, on 04/09/2008, -0/+6What experience does she have? The only office ( that I'm aware of ) that she's held is senator. Being married to the president does not give you experience. She has proven time and again that she is NOT Slick Willy. She's burying herself under the avalanche of her own inadequacies.
- oldgal, on 04/09/2008, -1/+7Rolling Stone has an excellent article detailing the mechanics of Obama's campaign titled "The Machinery of Hope".
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/obamam ... - enclaved, on 04/09/2008, -4/+10All I want to know who is who would win in Super Smash Bros Brawl
- Metasquares, on 04/09/2008, -0/+6Donkey Kong would beat them both and then we'd end up with another monkey in the white house.
- Fullvinyl, on 04/09/2008, -2/+7Not black people specifically, but still pretty close: http://www.motherjones.com/washington_dispatch/200 ...
Where's the scrutiny in the MSM for this tool? Oh, that's right, Muslims are bad, so scrotae like this get a free pass. - br0ck, on 04/09/2008, -0/+5Per your request.. remove articles from Digg based on keyword: http://www.outshine.com/blog/2007/10/greasemonkey- ...
Also, I didn't visit his profile to fabricate dirt on the guy. I am just sick of people that don't contribute anything to the site complaining about the content of the site. Like I said, Digg is what you make it. If you don't like it, put in some effort to fix it! It's yours! - Fullvinyl, on 04/09/2008, -1/+6So what you're saying is that Obama has less experience lying and inflating his own record in politics?
- quetzzz, on 04/09/2008, -0/+5Buchanan was a tool.
