- Indyanna, on 10/10/2007, -15/+105This group also is pro-abortion, is in favor of women being ordained as priests as well as gays and lesbians. All of this begs the question - why in the world do they remain affiliated with the Catholic Church?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+54But, but, I thought only the godless atheists wanted to impeach our most holy chimpanzee?
- AlphaEta, on 10/10/2007, -4/+38Instead of impeachment, I suspect these nuns would actually like to rap Bush and Cheney across the knuckles with a heavy ruler!
- obliviousfool, on 10/10/2007, -12/+43I kinda detest the Catholic Church, but I really have a soft spot for nuns. From my experience, they actually live their beliefs. It's as if the women got Catholicism right, and it's the men that have really screwed it up. Nuns are cool.
- tomboy501, on 10/10/2007, -11/+38Thanks for the rabid right-wing knuckle-dragging translation. I see this has hit a nerve.
It's a little unsettling when NUNS want your President impeached, isn't it? - NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20Why don't we just flat out say it... "Coalition of practically everyone, calls for impeachment of bush and cheney."
- stealth45, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21When nuns are against you, you know you're doing something wrong.
- statik99, on 11/03/2009, -2/+22Ooh, now the administration has done it... You don't never ever piss off the nuns, they have scary powers!
- suxmonkey, on 10/10/2007, -11/+30Mother Theresa would have approved
- tomboy501, on 10/10/2007, -5/+22Sympathies to you, Indyanna, for your nun-flavored education. I have no compare, so won't debate you on those details....but honestly....these batch of nuns don't seem so radical to me on this issue.
If you read the article, their views and reasons for impeachment seem quite sane and very much in sync with a good chunk of the american population: "...impeachment is warranted for “deceiving the public under the false pretense that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction” and “destroying” the reputation of the United States and the good will of other nations..."
Along with the high crimes and misdemeanors...that about covers it. - riverrunner, on 10/10/2007, -5/+20"call you to act promptly to impeach President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney"
look where do I sign? If people could vote for impeachment it would have been done. stop asking us and demand action from the people who have to power to do it. - SheilaNoya, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18Water board Bush with Holy water. Make him admit that the only reason we attacked Iraq was because he was stupid enough to get all of his advice from Oil Executives, War Profiteers, and Religious Nuts. The Holy Trinity of trouble.
- Bhima, on 10/10/2007, -5/+20Man, you can't just go around saying a group of nuns is pro-abortion with some pretty extraordinary links explaining it. From reading their website I jus got that they didn't think it was appropriate to go excommunicating people who didn't agree with current church doctrine. Particularly doctrine concerning controversial topics. But I honestly didn't look very hard and I'm not christian so I don't care so much...
I will say that I think they've got some pretty interesting things to say:
"We don't want to oversimplify what constitutes being a Catholic anymore," Cunningham said. A Pew Research Center poll taken last month found that in recent years Catholic voters have changed parties in dramatic numbers. The percentage of Catholics who identified as Republicans has dropped from 46% in 2002 to 37%. Those who said they were Democrats rose from 41% to 48%. Despite urging from bishops once again to "act Catholic" and apply the abortion/gay rights litmus test to every vote, other issues have emerged. In 2006, the war in Iraq dominates the concerns of most voters - including Catholics. "Maybe if the U.S. had been dropping condoms instead of bombs, the bishops would have noticed it," Cunningham said. "There's room in the church for diversity of opinion among people with an educated conscience," she said. She wants to make sure Catholics who share her views feel welcome in the church, especially at a time when bishops have been trying to exert so much power over their votes. "If you can hold the power of the sacraments or heaven and hell over people, well, that's a pretty strong persuader." "Still it's nothing compared with conscience," she said. For people of all faiths-and people of no faith - that's the real test for a moral values voter. - horatiolust, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Jake: What are we doing here?
Elwood: You promised you'd visit the penguin the day you got out.
Jake: Yeah? So I lied to her.
Elwood: You can't lie to a nun. We got to go in and visit the penguin.
Jake: No... *****... way. - Bricks, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15Hopefully this coalition of nuns can get something done, perhaps via a sexy squadron of catholic schoolgirls to kick ass and chew bubblegum.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15Once again, you FAIL. Their religious affiliation is only of note in order to underline their ethics/spirituality. It has nothing to do with rule of law, these are simply highly religious CITIZENS who believe that Chimpy & Cheney should be impeached. Now, back to your ***** Right Wing Shill Hole, loser.
- Indyanna, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12What do nuns know of politics? Don't know about all of them of course, but the ones I do know - a lot. They are involved with political campaigns (local & national level), protests (and getting arrested in the process), lobbying congressmen for their pet projects, conducting seminars and symposiums on various issues, putting together petition drives - you name it. As far as studying the Bible goes, ummm, not much of that going on I'm afraid.
- capitalismKills, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13It makes no difference whether they are nuns are not.
I think its a matter or human conscience and natural law. Whether you're a nun, a postman, a social scientist or a politician, you KNOW that what is going on is wrong.
However, nothing will come of it. All those responsible will get away with their crimes against humanity and spin themselves into heros, despite the outcries, pleas and demands of their citizens to STOP KILLING.
It goes to show the America is a complete farce of a free democratic county....
Has everybody forgotten that governments are supposed to be public Servants NOT public Masters? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+16If you have lived with nuns then you would know they are evil.
- Puppetfunk, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13"Ow! You fat penguin!"
/Blues Brothers - buddsbrains, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11I agree - I was schooled in Ireland, and I have a hard spot for nuns...
- poopz, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12BREAKING: Digg gives a ***** about Christians
- Mysticum, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Once again: American nuns. Not Lebanese nuns.
- Mysticum, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Seeing how Bush runs the country with the Bible as his only guide, I dare say this argument kinda falls to the ground.
- eternal464, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9only when it supports their liberal point of view.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Obviously never schooled in Ireland.
- MacEnvy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I still think their religious beliefs are wrong. I also happen to think their political beliefs, in this case, are correct.
See, here's the problem. Don't act like politics is football and you have to support everything your side does 100%. That's ridiculous, and makes you look like a douchebag. - Mysticum, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9I believe you'll find that these are AMERICAN nuns, which I think somewhat justifies their protesting against the AMERICAN government. Maybe I'm just confused.
- Mysticum, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10You voted for Bush, though? What's the difference? The US is effectively a theocracy at the moment.
- cerealman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8FTA: "A progressive group of U.S. nuns has called on Congress to impeach President Bush and Vice President Cheney because of their roles in the war in Iraq." They are demanding Congress do it.
- Bhima, on 10/10/2007, -6/+12No he is not right. I'm old enough that in grammar school I was taught by Nuns that thought the Vatican II was a bad idea. I've also had several intra-faith interactions with the local nuns in our own temple in the last 5 years.
James is just a whiney NeoCon apologist. And his "translation" shows it. - TygerrTygerr, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8When nuns appear on the list of demographics you've ticked off, you're really in trouble.
- ani625, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8A nun got to do what a nun got to do.
- analogkid01, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Simple - they support a woman's right to choose what happens with her body, and they don't support people killing one another in the name of patriotism. What's the conundrum there?
- taquitohater, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Nuns are people just like everyone else, they have the same capacity to know about politics as the average Joe/Jane who comprises the backbone of the voting public. You sir, are a moron.
- faskippy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Are you serious? That's like saying, what does a computer geek or a butcher know of politics. Uh, does YOUR job keep you from reading?
- MadN, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7President Bush, Hold out your hand, knuckle side up.........
- annonimality, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4"Digg is the biggest single collection of retards I have ever seen." - don't be so hard on yourself.
- FunkyNuts, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Because doing anything more than clicking a "Digg" button is too much work. It's much easier to just talk about doing it.
- smek2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Congrats Bush, Cheney & Co. You just made the Coalition of Nuns your enemy.
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3he doesn't use the bible as a guide, god speaks directly to him.
- Frnnkdlxx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3curse*.... Mofo.
- annonimality, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6"You voted for Bush, though?" - see the question mark? It means he was asking you.
- Bhima, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I hope they are not all out of Bubble Gum
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6You're here, idiot.
- Acewrap, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Please stop trying to reason with the Reich Tards. They are beyond hope.
- MacEnvy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Some people seem to be unclear on what TinyUrl is for. It's not meant to obscure the address you're pointing to so that no one knows what they're clicking on.
It's Hooqs, by the way. Bury. - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+2Anyone of any affiliation has the right to petition the government for any purpose, seperation of church and state doesn't even apply here.
"Seperation of church and state" doesn't mean one group should shut the ***** up and keep their mouth shut, that's not what that means. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6Same Nuns want to outlaw the thought of gay marriage.......you folks agree with them? I sure as hell do!!
- shedtroll, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Geooooooorge...Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooorge...The nuns are angry george, they're coming to get you...
