- mok000, on 10/06/2008, -4/+45I am almost certain that Hillary will get an important appointment in Barack's government. Could be secretary of health if she wants it; this would allow her to complete the health-care reform which would be a huge feather in her cap.
- sincerelysarah, on 10/06/2008, -12/+52It's a "TEAM" thing - Republicans wouldn't understand...
- apothekari, on 10/06/2008, -16/+44Cool...I hope Obama puts her in his cabinet or on the supreme court.
- magus_melchior, on 10/06/2008, -4/+31'One top Clinton fundraiser, investment executive Lynn Forester de Rothschild, announced last month she was supporting Republican nominee John McCain. She called Obama and other top Democrats in Congress "too far to the left."'
Gotta love the mental gymnastics of that one. Clinton and Obama are nearly identical in terms of platforms, and she defects to McCain because "Obama's too left"?
No, Lady de Rothschild, you wanted Clinton in one of the 2 slots of the ticket, and Obama wasn't going for that. - avataros, on 10/06/2008, -2/+25Hillary will only accept a top-tier job in an Obama administration. AG, State, or UN Amb. Of course, I'd love to see the neocons foam at the mouth with the possibility of her replacing Ruth Bader Ginsberg. or Scalia.
- rowlodge, on 10/07/2008, -4/+22she should go over to palins house and kick her ass.
- CloseYetFar, on 10/07/2008, -2/+19So wait, we like her now? I thought we didn't? I'm so confused...
- Olon97, on 10/06/2008, -6/+23Supreme court all the way. It has been a long, long time since an appointee has been someone who puts the interests of working people ahead of the interests of corporations. As a result we now get crap like Baker v. Exxon.
- donaleab, on 10/06/2008, -2/+17She should be able to help him win in battleground states like Florida.... I know, it's not supposed to be a battleground, but it has become so.
- bubblz, on 10/06/2008, -5/+19Supreme Court! The Repubs would literally be frothing at the mouth over that nomination.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -5/+15I love how you guys are loving Clinton now, but when she was an opponent of Obama, you listed all of her problems, called her a "whore", "bitch", and said her actions were unforgivable. The fact is, she still is a bitch and Obama still lies. Not that the Republicans are any better, I'm just saying.
- rsh28630, on 10/07/2008, -1/+11Ideally Hillary could serve the Democrats well right now by focusing in part on Palin. Neither Biden nor Obama can strongly rebut Sarah Stupid or they'll be accused of sexism. However, if Hillary Rodham-Clinton starts hammering Palin's positions, the nominees stay above the fray while the former First Lady speaks for millions of women who understand gender should neither qualify nor disqualify any human being from a position so long as they are intelligent, capable and qualified. Ms Moose is none of the above while demeaning women everywhere in her role as Republican cheesecake.
- charm803, on 10/07/2008, -4/+12No way that Clinton will let Palin become the first female President by default.
I guess adding Palin made Clinton refocus on the bigger picture!
Either way, good for Obama supporters like myself! If adding Palin helped her be more aggressive in helping his campaign the better! - Rioracer916, on 10/07/2008, -1/+8The enemy of my enemy is my friend...sorta
- viciv, on 10/07/2008, -2/+9hats off to her!
- langdonalger, on 10/07/2008, -3/+10because if they call him by his real name it humanizes him and makes them scared of the hate they have in their heart.
- unco, on 10/07/2008, -0/+7so does that mean she's paid off her debts already?
- Meadow113, on 10/07/2008, -2/+8Now McCain has done it, ALL gloves are coming off. I don't even think that wearing the heels is going to help him.
- mst3kcrow, on 10/07/2008, -3/+9Please no more partisan SCOTUS nominees, especially one that is a Bilderberger. I like all my individual rights, prefer not to choose between my 1st, 2nd, or my 4th amendment rights.
- magus_melchior, on 10/07/2008, -2/+8She may have been more "electable" among working class Caucasians (hey, someone's gotta point it out) and women voters, but she would have been a dud against conservatives and moderate conservatives. And forget about the evangelical vote-- they hate Hillary's platform with a passion.
No, I don't think she would've had the draw from the center and slightly right-of-center that Obama enjoys. I think that, along with a huge organizational base, was key to Obama securing the nomination. - magus_melchior, on 10/07/2008, -4/+10Oh, they understand, and they take it to illogical extremes.
They don't understand "teamWORK", though. - chrissku, on 10/07/2008, -4/+9"She was by far the more electable of the two, but now that she's gone..."
Since she was "far more electable" than Obama why didn't she win?
She didn't win because Obama beat her. Get over it. Move on. Let it go. - novenator, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5I assume you opposed Roberts then?
- mst3kcrow, on 10/07/2008, -1/+6Unlike posters above, I would not want her as a SCOTUS nominee. I loathe partisan nominations especially with powerful ties to very influential groups. I much rather see a SCOTUS nominee which championed a non partisan look to the constitution and knew how the decisions impacted every day Americans. Unlike today where letting the gov take a giant ***** on individual rights is status quo.
- novenator, on 10/07/2008, -1/+5she had a wide swath of support from pennsylvania through ohio, kentucky, and down to arkansas and texas in the primaries. I think those people are starting to come around, realizing that 4 more years of republican rule can only further devastate this country.
- tharju, on 10/07/2008, -2/+6oh STFU...if it wasn't for Hillary..McCain has more chance of gaining ground by using this smear tactics re: Ayers and Wright. Thanks to Hillary ..we all have already heard it and shrug it. Thanks Hillary..i am sorry for not supporting you during primary. But you are way much classier than McCain and Palin.
- Anomaly100, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4Which ticket? McCain and his lackey---that ticket. I am sick and tired of hearing that Messiah crap. You are clueless and just to make a point, you guys claim Christianity but I don't see it. I am a Christian and I wouldn't vote for McCain if he were the only choice. I want America to prosper...go figure.
- ulmedas, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4actually, no. you don't even have to be an attorney, technically. You do have to be approved by the senate, which is unlikely to approve you if you are really completely utterly unqualified (e.g., harriette myers)
- trenchancy, on 10/07/2008, -1/+4I don't think she'll want to leave the Senate. After her run, she'll be one of the most important and powerful people in the senate.
Also, Obama will owe her for all of this help campaigning, and pushing her fundraisers towards him. Even though that she could for free, since they're in the same party - she'll want something in return later. - ulmedas, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3If only. I do not care who the replacement for Scalia is, so long as the person is selected by a reasonable human being. But what will clarence thomas do after his vote chooser leaves? Maybe the sheep will follow the shepherd into retirement.
Sorry. it's late. i am ranting. Scalia is awful. - novenator, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3I think she or bill would make excellent Sec of States, though I think bill is done being in any political office.
- JenniferInMO, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3She shouldn't even acknowledge Palin. Hillary is a qualified, educated, intelligent woman. Palin, is not.
- Wryly, on 10/07/2008, -1/+4Thanks, Hillary. You're the Anti-Sarah Palin.
- mst3kcrow, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3I definitely opposed Roberts. He has a lot of experience dealing with SCOTUS but has way too many ties to the Republican party; as well he either doesn't care or doesn't know how SCOTUS decisions impact every day Americans.
- jackieblu, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3Has he been wearing those heels again?
- JenniferInMO, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3Actually, it is a Country First thing. The Republicans wouldn't understand.
- Rioracer916, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3Good question. Remember almost half of those debts were owed to herself through loans she mad to the campaign. She may have just taken the loss and focused on paying creditors.
- qqqqq5, on 10/07/2008, -1/+3Republicans are a MUCH more solid voting block than the Democrats, and up until 2006 (when they were low on cash) they were more likely to support each other's campaigns financially.
- jamaph, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2Hillary Clinton also voted for the Iraq war (great forward thinking there)
She also supported (with republicans) AMENDING THE CONSTITUTION to make burning the American Flag punishable with jail time!!! This goes against three rulings in where the supreme court has declared burning the American flag an act of free speech.
There are other things, but those two just seem very neo-conservative if you ask me. - Meadow113, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2He borrowed Rudy's heels I think.
- bluesman3535, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Yes, Bill has been attacking Obama with peculiar observations and responses in the meantime to insulate her. It's depressing the Dems on this thread still fall for the Clintons' BS and psych-ops tactics. USA Today has the same weight for me as the old Soviet Pravda paper--any half-truth, anytime.
- fatas, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Is she planning to pimp her daughter Chelsea like she did earlier this year.
- nihilville, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Personally I think she would be a great addition to the Supreme Court, or even given the lead on implementing health care reform as the Secretary of Health.
I voted for Obama, but not because I thought she lacked good ideas or skills... Just that Obama's stacked up a little better for me personally. - katagana, on 10/07/2008, -2/+4"It's a "TEAM" thing - Republicans wouldn't understand..." lol sincerelysarah!
Anyhow, Hillary has been great for making the party come together in the end, it took a while, but when she accepted the situation, she showed that she is truly a woman of Country first! - killtrocity, on 10/07/2008, -3/+5This makes that first email in that fake hacked Obama Gmail account look truer by the day.
http://www.theonion.com/content/files/images/Obama ... - Flashypoo, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Apathetic? Sure. It's puppet A or puppet B. Snide.. yeah, I'm proud to say I don't have to fake it.
- Nato, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Wow, then someone should let Sarah Palin know. She CAN be ANYthing.
- jchrome, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2I hear ya, but 8 mil is a lot of counter-ads towards the McPain slur factory... and we need all the help we can get. 5%-10% poll leads are not enough, America should send a strong message in November: enough!
Now is not the time be a Puma... or just apathetic and snide judging by profile? - mwilhelm, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1Perhaps you "misunderestimated" my statement
Paragraph 1 refers to Obama - www.usaspending.gov
Paragraph 2 refers to Sarah Palin's claim that we are fighting "God's war in Iraq", her refusal to cooperate with the ethics investigation, etc. etc. etc. the list goes on. I'm pretty sure she thinks she is God's gift.
I probably should have been more clear. Emphasis and sarcasm don't translate well on the web.
I just find it funny the absurd double standard the GOP holds for itself and anyone else.
Also, I'm not a Christian - Jesus was a good guy and can teach us alot, but I worship no man. - RipleyIsDead, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2Immediately after 9/11, Hillary was one of the first (and nearly only) politicians calling for money to be put aside for lung disease following the collapse of the trade centers. She realised very early that all the crap people were breathing was going to cause problems down the road. She was chastised for it, nearly everyone else wanted any excess cash to be spent on anti-terrorism -- not a bad idea, but a bit myopic considering the number of people who now have lung disease. I've always thought that was very forward thinking, and ever since have given her the benefit of the doubt when considering her motives. I think in a lot of cases, she comes off as a bitch because she's got a strong drive for success. In the end though, she really only cares about what's best for the country.
