- walugi, on 10/12/2007, -7/+42here here jasonok! It's mc carthyism (hope I spelt that right, it's always tricky) all over again. In 50 years time they'll make a Good Night and Good Luck on Bush, Laden and Fox News.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -12/+44Give it up moron, Colbert said it best when he said "reality has a liberal bias".
- JFetch, on 10/12/2007, -14/+44It's about time for an Osama tape to be leaked isn't it? Right before an election is the usual right? Of course if he really is dead, how are they going to scare us with his rantings?
- billyliberty, on 10/12/2007, -5/+35@walugi
Adam Curtis and the BBC already made that film. It's called 'The Power of Nightmares' and though it's a bit ragged and deterministically simple, the thesis is contentful enough to raise your heartbeat as the fears you may once have had are quickly replaced with anger.
Look here, to see: http://www.archive.org/details/ThePowerOfNightmaresDVD - treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -15/+40haha, so true Clinton!
- deanlowe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26Well he did try but he confused Osama with Saddam.
- bitcloud, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20A little bit of history, and they aren't just the communism of the 21st century, but the witches of the 21st century... It's been going on since the dawn of time... ruling by fear and ignorance.
This is different, not because this administration is particularly bad, but because with the internet we're aware of their corruption and lies.
It's a turning point in history (if we choose for it to be) - flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -17/+34He didnt use bin laden to scare people into voting for him jackass.
- mww2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20Ironic that the next president didn't even try.
- Goosemaster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18Karl Rove's political savy, in its current form, is dangerous for the country....all I will say on the subject for now
- mww2, on 10/12/2007, -10/+24Dear idiot *****:
---
WALLACE: Do you think you did enough sir?
CLINTON: No, because I didn’t get him.
WALLACE: Right…
CLINTON: But at least I tried. That’s the difference in me and some, including all the right wingers who are attacking me now. They ridiculed me for trying. They had eight months to try and they didn’t…I tried. So I tried and failed. When I failed I left a comprehensive anti-terror strategy and the best guy in the country, Dick Clarke…

Bush would sooner die than be that honest. - treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17I so hope he comes out with massive sunglasses on and acts all serious.
You kno what I mean (Family Guy): http://youtube.com/watch?v=jV4gqKFUC1o - ninezero, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17I can't wait to see what Bin Laden says this time around. Frankly it's getting a little boring considering how predictable all this fearmongering has become. People believe the mass media far too much these days...
- conna, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16OBL and his CIA pop up whenever the people need to be sold some war propaganda.
- ByteGuerilla, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13All three parts of that are viewable on Google Video, so get searching patriots! It's your duty to know what your government is up to, not the other way round.
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16I think he'll say something the along the lines of "....."
He's dead. http://digg.com/world_news/BIN_LADEN_may_be_DEAD - deanlowe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10yeah, and Berger should've taken the shot when the CIA had Bin Laden in their cross-hairs, right?
- mww2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Yes, obviously making talking about health-care for political gain and shredding our moral standing for political gain are equally bad.
- zeptillian, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12What a lot of people may not remember is that during the Monica Lewinsky scandal, Clinton did attack terrorist targets in Afghanistan. According to his biography he was aware at the time that people would accuse him of trying to take attention away from his personal affairs, but he did it because he truly believed that it was the right thing to do. The right wing media accused him of trying to Wag the Dog ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120885/ ). Now the same media who blasted him for attacking Bin Laden in Afghanistan are trying to say that he was wrong for not doing; 1:something that he did do ( http://www.cnn.com/US/9808/20/us.strikes.01/ ), 2:something which, at the time, they thought he should not do.( http://www.salon.com/news/1998/08/21newsc.html )
From the CNN article dated August 20, 1998
“The president said he ordered the strike against bin Laden and his compatriots because of “”compelling information they were planning additional terrorist attacks against our citizens and others with the inevitable collateral casualties and .. seeking to acquire chemical weapons and other dangerous weapons.”” - bastardoperator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10"The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (also known as the 9/11 Commission), stated that "former Sudanese officials claim that Sudan offered to expel Bin Ladin to the United States. Clinton administration officials deny ever receiving such an offer. We have not found any reliable evidence to support the Sudanese claim."
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Mansoor_Ijaz
It appears the author of the article and the 9/11 commission have a difference of opinion. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16Yeah funny how that works out huh?
The semi-new rhetoric: "Osama will murder your family unless you keep republicans in power. Since you aren't dead yet, it's clear that we have saved your hopeless life for the past 5 years." - lostreign, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11We can only hope that people learned their lesson and we see a different vote next election. As a Canadian I have no control over this and it's frustrating. Join the rest of the world US and make a difference.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I really think all the world leaders and political celebrities, and various liars and terrorist types, like bush, bin laden, clinton, bush senior, almadinejad, and other political leaders -- alll get together sometimes, at some country club or private resort, and they just laugh at all the citizens of various countries who believe their continuing charade.
They trade war stories, and strategies, all to fool the 'common people' into playing their game, spilling blood for their damn elitist ego games!
The only ones who see through, it besides these liars, are the really intelligent people, who are wary of any and all central governments, and who examine everything thoroughly, without party affiliations, religious affiliations, racism, or any such prejudicial beliefs.
I wish there were more such people.
The numbers are small, and it can get quite lonely sometimes.
That is why I really appreciate many of the more erudite commenters on digg!
The 'old school' hip-hop-rap band, Public Enemy, gave some good advice, in four simple words, for those sharp enough to hear it and already know it::
"Don't Believe the Hype!" - flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10if bin laden is dead maybe we can go back to one of the older fears, like bird flu.
- TinFoil209, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Change the colors of home land security, someone told the truth!
This is a really general statement, but Bush Jr. doesn't "look like a president" to me. Clinton and even Bush Sr. did in their times. We have states ruined by natural disasters and slow to re grow, and human disasters like Iraq caused by us and slow to re grow.
Lets keep our states somewhat close to our nation, and not all the way across the world (US irAq). How Bush Jr. got 2 terms is beyond me.
I really hope there is some sort of agenda as to why we have U.S. Soldiers dying in Iraq. Either it be some real truth to this "fix the middle east" BS or get oil prices down to $0.02 a barrel. Both of those suck, yet if the general continuos we have no freaken idea what going on & were just there to occupy the country for no merit is really sad.
To die for your country brings honor, and respect. To die and question why is not right in any terms. Come home troops! We honor you no matter what!!! - SuperCow1127, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Guess what? There is no one-to-one translation from Arabic to Latin characters. Both spellings are acceptable, because they both approximate the original pronunciation.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Oh I forgot...there is such an exclusive country club for those who orchestrate all the wars, etc... and it even has a name. It's called the 'council on foreign relations'...one branch of it, anyhow.
- Frodo42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Worth knowing is also that one of the missiles reportedly didn't detonate. It was sold to the Chinese for $ 10 million.
Correcting the grave mistakes of president Carter (Operation Cyclone) and destroying the training bases that the CIA had helped organise and finance was the right thing to do. Now, if only the US had not diverted most of its power to Iraq, Afghanistan would be Taliban-free by now. Except perhas along the border to Pakistan, where bin Laden and his friends have massive support. - ChiefUCF, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Teddy Roosevelt would laugh at how "smart" Slick Willy is. So would Thomas Jefferson.
More to the point, Teddy Roosevelt would probably beat Slick Willy senseless for being leader of the Free World and not being able to keep it in his pants.
At least with Kennedy it was Marilyn Monroe, and no one can fault him for that....
I agree with the last person who said it - let's put Perot in office. Sure, we'll have another dollar tax put onto gas, but at least we know it'll go towards coming up with an alternative for gas, be it mass transit or alternative fuels. - TinFoil209, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7My family has connections to the military and when you work 9+ hours that night you comment; you think, maybe too much.
Clinton saw Bin Laden as a target to kill as an enemy. Bush saw him as a ticket to push agendas and what daddy didn't finish. - ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5If this was Fark, the article would get an "obvious" stamp.
- wibblewibble, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If we dont have O/UBL who/what would it be? I think we have a business plan for the next 5 to 10 years (Extremist Terrorism). After that has gone away, what / who would it be then?
America's business plan depends upon.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perpetual_war - greyhacker45, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5That quote is absolutely true, but it can be said for either party. As for Clinton, there is no disputing his competency as a leader. While he's made some decidedly stupid choices, he has the highest IQ of any president. You don't have to agree with his views to agree that he's a generally smart guy.
- designer, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Your right communism only killed 100 million people, yet people try to portray it as a bad thing.
- KMChina, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The problem with your comment below, zeptillian, is not that he "tried"..its that he did a half ass job of it...In the PC world of the Dems, he could not take the required action lest he upset his base...That is why he failed...he took the absolute minimum action required so he could say "I tried"..he also missed several other opportunities that GH Bush in "the nine months" Clinton is so fixated upon, never had...I do, however, admire his honesty in admitting he failed...
- middl3name, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"Only time will tell how much damage he really did while in office, but we're starting to see the evidence now."
I think this holds more true for W than Clinton. - deesnutz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4From Karl Rove's to do list for election 2006 ...
- Need to lower gas prices right before election. - Check!
- Prompt Osama to create video saying he loves Democrats. - Check!
........2 wks before.
- Need to start a wave of labeling Democrats ...
........Terrorist Lovers (already done!)
........Gay Lovers (done that!)
........Baby Killers (that would have been good but used with Stem Cell)
........Flip Floppers (used with John Kerry)
- Need to create fake attack plot with British at the lead (can be done easily again)
- Thank God that our Republican supporters are so stupid that they actually believe all this crap. (daily) - geronimo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That was terrible what he did in Serbia, he should have let the Serbians continue to shell cities and rape women.
- h2gofast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This coming from a guy who drops bombs to take the heat off his blowjob.
- HMTKSteve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Did anyone on the commission ask the Sudanese?
- FrankieB078, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2lol this is obvious.

>Caprica: I have no idea why you are being digg'ed down. While the premise of
Clinton's comments is absurd (the GOP tells Bin Laden when to issue one
of his tapes)
That is not what Clinton was saying. Look at the recent Bush speech, where he mentioned Osama 17 times, after not mentioning him at all for months.
Bush ignores Osama, until before the elections or when he needs a poll bounce, then suddenly it's Osama Osama Osama Osama...
Today, Osama has died for the third time (First Osama "died" during a missile strike, then kidney failure, now he's "died" again...) That kind of thing is very helpful to remind people of Osama when Bush needs it. It's fear mongering done on-call. - TinFoil209, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Im 21 so I couldn't act one way or another back then, I wasn't born yet.

Well.. You also need to have heroes all the time. - littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Clinton is far and away one of the best Presidents this Nation has EVER had. The Bush Monkeys can't even hold a candle to the man. Go Bill!
