- gypsi, on 03/03/2008, -7/+239the problem is that if she wins any state by a point, she'll take that as a mandate to press on
- jhuckabee, on 03/03/2008, -10/+138Yeah, on the Friday conference call, her advisers tried to frame any win (even by 1 point) as a symbol of "momentum" for her and that voters may be showing "buyers remorse" towards Obama. Give me a ***** break! Do they forget that she had the establishment behind her going into these races? Do they forget that just two weeks ago, Obama was down by 20 points in the polls in these states?
Even if she narrowly wins, this is still a clear sign of momentum for Obama. For him to come from that far behind and accomplish what he has is amazing.
Hillary and her campgain are a national disgrace and if she were smart and really concerned about America, would bow out now. - theuniversal, on 03/03/2008, -6/+97Richardson said "Whoever has the most delegates after Tuesday, a clear lead, should be in my judgment the nominee."
Richardson knows based on the delegate math that is 99.9% likely to be Obama. He's telling Hillary that she should wrap it up after Tuesday. - Tex, on 07/28/2008, -9/+88And the media will repeat it hook, line, and sinker.
"Hillary lost Texas, Ohio, and Vermont -- but in HUGE news, she WON in Rhode Island by 2%, so she's clearly mounting a HUGE comeback! - inactive, on 03/03/2008, -17/+89Just make sure you yanks vote. The world has had enough of your redneck,neo-con,bible bashing,islam-a-phob,pro war, imperialistic leaders, or destroy the south.
- kungfumaniac, on 03/03/2008, -7/+65I don't like to use caps lock, but, if you'll forgive:
SHE WAS JUST THE FIRST LADY.
That is all. - Daniel591992, on 03/03/2008, -18/+67What an awesome picture:
http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2008/03/02/us/ ... - drunkentoad, on 03/03/2008, -4/+52And the thing that sucks is, If Obama does become president, which IMO he probably will, he will have inherited a real ***** storm that has been left behind by the present government. And by the time his 4 years is up, people will have forgotten the rotten seed had been well and truly planted by Bush and co. All they see is Obama was president when the ***** hit the fan (economically). Then Hillary will come riding in for 2012 saying "I told you so" - and everyone will believe her too.
- RansomHoldiay, on 03/03/2008, -6/+54hillary has lost 11 in a row mate. there's a difference.
- HenvY, on 03/03/2008, -14/+59Hillary is trying to destory Obama's chances of winning the general so as to position herself as the nominee in 2012 - she isn't stupid, she knows just as well as anyone that it's nearly mathematically impossible for her to win on Pledged delegates.
- inactive, on 03/03/2008, -9/+52Why are you smiling at that? Shouldn't you be upset that the media, whose job is to be an unbiased source of information, is biasing the news and coverage towards one particular candidate, even if that candidate is your favorite?
- smacksaw, on 03/03/2008, -4/+43Damn skippy. The longer she's attacking Obama, the more she's tarnishing his star and giving ammo to the Republicans. Just look at Digg. Half of the stuff the McCain supporters are saying about Obama is straight out of Hillary's staffers' mouths!
- barfooz, on 03/03/2008, -3/+37She won't continue on. Realistically, she can't make up more than about 20 delegates on Tuesday. There's still a lot of Obama-favorable states out there, and Pennsylvania's not going to give her 80 delegates either. Hillary is finished Wednesday morning.
- seany231, on 03/03/2008, -10/+41I kind of want her to keep going so that in 2012 she won't be able to recover from this train wreck, effectively squashing every and all chance that she ever returns to the public eye.
- thebellmaster1x, on 03/03/2008, -5/+33It would be superb if she dropped out—but I worry, nay, I KNOW she's too much of a stubborn ass to do so.
- kschramm, on 03/03/2008, -6/+33He would have to lose by a landslide to merely let her back into the race.
- inactive, on 03/03/2008, -2/+27"He argued again that Mrs. Clinton had shown her ability to win the big states that would be needed for a Democratic victory in November."
Yeah, because New York and California are going to go to McCain if Obama is the nominee. Get real. They need someone who can win states that aren't Democratic gimmes. - Barbosa, on 03/03/2008, -3/+25Unnecessary wars and tax cuts for the rich are things under a President's control. While a President does not control the economy, his proclamations from his bully pulpit, what he chooses to veto, his policy decisions, his cabinet appointments (and other staffing decisions) and the tone of his leadership do effect the economy.
- MontanaBig, on 03/03/2008, -6/+28The only way she has a chance in 2012 is to exit with grace. Unfortunately, I don't think she's capable. Her instinct is to go for the throat, but America has had enough of this type of politics. It will be Obama in 08, and Hillary's career will be over because she could not get on the train on time.
- inobla, on 03/03/2008, -5/+26You too can do your part. If you're voting on Tuesday....Vote NO on Billary!!
- peterjmag, on 03/03/2008, -1/+22Good luck finding that in ANY real world political system.
- martoq, on 03/03/2008, -1/+21In 2012 McCain will be in a retirement home drinking prune juice.
- blackbeardtron, on 03/03/2008, -2/+21Don't ***** this up, Ohio and Texas!
- HappyProgrammer, on 03/03/2008, -2/+21It is a good picture. I was trying to figure out what I liked about that picture... I think its mostly the look on his face. Cool, calm, contemplating. We are so used to looking at Bush who always seems to have a "I have lost my goat" look on his face that it is refreshing to see something so radically different in someone who most likely will be our next president.
- mnpilot, on 03/03/2008, -1/+18Hillary is just as corrupt as Bush was (is) and she learned that in America, you can steal elections if you have enough lawyers. Remember, The Clinton Whitehouse WASN'T the cleanest either. Whitewater, Foster, getting Noggin in the oval office. Granted, it isn't nearly the level of treason that the Bush whitehouse has imposed on the American public, BUT.........
It's time for Americans to put many things behind us and start fresh and move on. That time is now.
Obama 08 - emeksv, on 03/03/2008, -4/+21meh, not so much. The composition is terrible. It's generally awkward to have your subject facing away from the frame, and I don't think breaking that rule here works. The line on the floor that he's standing on is weird from this angle, too, and has the effect of drawing your eye away from the subject and into the considerable empty space behind him.
- unclerichard, on 03/03/2008, -3/+20Which is also a stretch taking into account Monica.
- reuscel, on 03/03/2008, -2/+19Clinton doesn't give a ***** about the good of the country or the Democratic party. She only cares about power, and that is deplorable. Shame on you, Hillary Clinton.
- kesam, on 03/03/2008, -3/+20By staying in this long, Clinton has probably INCREASED Obamas chances of winning the 08 election. She instigated most of the dirty campaigns against Obama; they has backfired and ended up making him look even more presidential, not less. And look how much attention the democrats are getting in general, as opposed to McCain (McWho?) who is now running the show alone on the right.
- LMControl, on 03/03/2008, -2/+19I doubt she'll quit regardless of what happens Tuesday. She's going to hold on as long as possible and carry this out to the convention on the hope she can sway (or pay....) the Super Delegates into voting for her, as well as trying to shoe-horn the delegates from Florida and Michigan. The Clinton unscrupulous people who will do anything and everything to regain power.
- schoate09, on 03/03/2008, -2/+19All three McCain supporters on digg...
- imnojezus, on 03/03/2008, -4/+20"Us Yanks" have had enough of it too. But, destroying the south (no matter how tongue and cheek you intended that to be) isn't the issue. The issue here is repairing the democratic republic that has been tarnished by fraudulent voting systems, and a government that has been redefined to maintain status quo rather than an organization put in place specifically to right wrongs done to the people. Like it or not, the redneck, neo-con, bible thumping, islam-a-phob, pro-war imperialists are part of this country just like the rest of us, and the hard part about democracy is that their voices must be heard. What has failed us is the fact that the republic has put more value into those voices than any others, and THAT is what has to change.
Sorry to make such a big deal about your quip. - felman87, on 03/03/2008, -3/+18Bill Richardson would be the perfect VP for Obama. He's got way more experience, both domestically and abroad, than Hillary, he was a popular governor of Arizona (McCain's state) and he's just all all round a great guy.
- AzureRise, on 03/03/2008, -6/+20I think she should drop out regardless.
- pinsomniac, on 03/03/2008, -1/+15I'm an Obama supporter and all, but it's a mathematical impossibility for either of them to win on pledged delegates alone. That's why we had all those stories about the super delegates as of late.
- MacEnvy, on 03/03/2008, -3/+17That's a lot of opinions and assumptions. Do you have any evidence or specifics to support your opinions, or do you just "feel" that you are correct?
By the way, it isn't sexism that's holding Clinton back. Sexism is pushing her forward. She's a bad candidate, and if she didn't have people voting for her just because she's a woman (which is, in fact, sexist) she'd never have gotten this far. - Coven, on 03/03/2008, -2/+15What.*****.Muslim.background.
- Michael9636, on 08/04/2008, -0/+13Bill Richardson is the governor of New Mexico. But you are right about his experience. He would make an excellent VP or Secretary of State.
- firesphotons, on 03/03/2008, -4/+16I just heard a NPR soundbite of Hillary saying she would be accountable to campaign promises. Meanwhile, New York state is in terrible condition, right now, on her watch. She's like a child who doesn't take care of the pet they already have asking for a dog, it's pathetic...
- foth, on 03/03/2008, -6/+18Can someone tell Hillary that if she gets the candidacy (she won't, I know), a Democrat will not win? Okay, thanks.
- felman87, on 03/03/2008, -1/+13Obama lacks digg stories?
- MacEnvy, on 03/03/2008, -1/+12Yeah, but they've got like 15 usernames between them.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 03/03/2008, -0/+11Don't forget the Detroit votes she's trying to get counted. Even a GOP governor is trying to help her get the votes counted. Because he's such a nice guy.
- martoq, on 03/03/2008, -1/+12I cannot think of a better candidate to do it. I agree with Barfooz, the president doesn't "control" the economy, but he can definitely influence it. Just as Bush has.
- Daniel591992, on 03/03/2008, -14/+25No they wouldn't. The media's been very pro-Obama lately :)
- Coven, on 03/03/2008, -0/+10His father was an Atheist at the time of his birth. The only reason he went to a "madrassa" (which is Arabic for "school") is because he was living in Jakarta for a few years as a child. Its not like he was here in the states and went to a private Muslim religious school as opposed to public school or a catholic school. This "Muslim Background" is being manufactured by his opponents as a smear tactic to play to the hostility a lot of Americans have towards Islam. It is complete nonsense and you know it.
- Jb611, on 03/03/2008, -0/+10dugg for lost goat.
- CarzorStelatis, on 03/03/2008, -0/+10Minor battles? You from Planet Giuliani or something?
- neko6, on 03/03/2008, -1/+11There is no such thing as objective. The media can present bias and influence people even without intending to or anybody noticing.
Simple example: Consider the headline "US and UK murder 600 innocent civilians" vs the headline "Allied forces shell Afghanistan". Both headlines are true for the same story, but they cause a different reaction in the reader. BBC chose the later, Al-Jazeera might choose the former (I didn't check what they really chose). -
