- docjulia, on 04/14/2008, -7/+99Hillary has absolutely no shame. How can she call Obama an elitist when she has spent most of her life having someone else chauffeur her around and buy her groceries and pay her bills?
- thebradmiskell, on 04/14/2008, -9/+95People are bitter. Hell, I'm bitter! $109 mil? Are you frikking kidding me? Who's the elitist?
- gobarack, on 04/14/2008, -14/+94People know that Hillary is hollow. She just doesn't ring true. Barack is the real deal, so even when he makes a mistake in the way he says something, people know that he was trying to get across a genuine point that helps people. I can't wait until he is president!
- V0lk, on 04/14/2008, -8/+53guess what Hillary? People ARE bitter. We are sick of your lies. We are sick of CEOs and your friends in Washington earning 6 figures a year while the rest of us scrape by barely making enough money to put gas in our cars, food on our table, and keep a roof over our head. We are sick of the media jumping all over something as small as a few words that Obama used while they continue to ignore the larger issues.
- WomenObama, on 04/14/2008, -7/+49I knew Pennsylvanians were smart!
- rhabd0mancer, on 04/14/2008, -9/+49I'm bitter. I just payed $3.50/gal to fill up the ol' truckster.
Does the uber-wealthy Hillary Clinton "feel my pain?" - allnone, on 04/14/2008, -5/+40You mean Hillary drinking beer and the shots of whiskey wasn't believable? What about her old gun story's and Bosnia sniper fire? The media asked her about the gun story's when she was a little girl, that she brought up, but she told the reporter "thats not relevant." Forget Comedy Central. Hillary Clinton makes me laugh more.
- UncleCrapper, on 04/14/2008, -1/+31Hillary the better candidate? Absolutely! The better candidate for liars, lobbyists, corporate interests, war mongers, and those who want to further entrench the status quo in Washington.
You just don't get it, do you? It has nothing to do with whatever organs do or do not hang between her legs. It has everything to do with the fact that Hillary is simply not the best candidate for president, period. It is simplistic, childish thinking that rejecting this one female candidate is somehow representative of rejecting all female candidates. - actorboy, on 04/14/2008, -3/+29Thou art delusional.
- Eternum1, on 04/14/2008, -4/+28Elitist is a label that doesn't apply to the first multi racial candidate unless it's just Clinton 'code' for uppity. I see a trend here.
- kipmartin, on 04/14/2008, -1/+25there are plenty of women out there who would make a better president, be more electable, and not resort to lying and backbiting to win. sorry, but this isnt sexism. its simply that Hillary has told several lies, employs dirty tricks like a republican, voted 7 times with Bush on his war, and comes from the old school as the candidate favored by the bosses and the power elite. it has nothing to do with the fact that shes a woman.
you are grabbing at straws.
and like i said, no one argues content from your side anymore. you have been relegated to name calling (your first sentence, no less!), ad hominum attacks, and resentment. if you look at policy, the ability to create concensus, and substance, you inevitably have to give it to Obama because Hillary, though not bereft of positions and policy, is lacking in the ability to argue those points.
remember all the battles youve lost. 'He has no sunstance!', 'He has no experience!', and 'He has no policy!". all those arguemnts havent withsstood scrutiny so now you are reduced to name calling. you sound like a 4th grader.
Shame on you!! - Drahkar, on 04/14/2008, -1/+23Hillery is a self-center, Egotistical power grubber. She will lie and cheat to get what she wants and pays little heed to the actual needs of this country. Frankly the fact that she is not in the lead gives me a little hope of this country that maybe they will finally elect someone who isn't out to try and butcher this country's liberties and out personal rights even more for their own pocketbook.
- FukUrCouch, on 04/14/2008, -7/+27We are bitter here in California too!
***** Hillary and her lies! - prhfs5, on 04/14/2008, -9/+28Obama speaks the truth...Hillary speaks whatever she thinks will ring true with voters just for the sake of winning, not because she believes it. She is slowly losing all credibility and she has no one to blame but herself.....oh, and Bill of course!
- orelses, on 04/14/2008, -5/+23He was talking about how people vote on issues other than on the economy because economic issues never seem to get fixed. Stem cells, Gun rights etc... Also she is painting herself as an elitist by going after him in this way.
- aussiejan, on 04/14/2008, -1/+18His mother died of cancer years ago. I'm sure wherever she is, she's damn proud of her son.
- altcountryman, on 04/14/2008, -5/+19I sense a distinct lack of sympathy for Hillary here. Egads, people, don't you know she's been under sniper fire? Sniper fire, I tell you!
- hillarycat, on 04/14/2008, -1/+14Even Hillarycat cannot agree with you, Klisk.
- visionaryIX, on 04/14/2008, -4/+16I'm not really sure why earning money and being financially successful qualifies anyone as elitist. I think their personality dictates this far more.
- Elum, on 04/14/2008, -0/+12I agree with you in your entire statement. In fact I think it would be a shame to allow her to be the first women president for it would likely increase the amount of sexism against women because of how poorly she would represent America.
- pilot3033, on 04/14/2008, -0/+10um....same audience...both Obama and Hillary spoke at the SAME event...
WTF are you talking about? - malex, on 04/14/2008, -2/+11"*****" as in it's a false story, or as in you didn't read it and don't want to hear about it?
Just click the "bury" button if you're so offended by people talking about the race. You don't need to post a message whining about it. - actorboy, on 04/14/2008, -1/+9Actually, I used to like her husband a lot -- not only for what he did in office, but also the way he came out in support of New Orleans, where I reside, post-Katrina. But frankly, after seeing how he has acted in this campaign, I'd be happy to never see him again. You're absolutely right, this would be a 2-for-1 deal: 2-for-1 lying, 2-for-1 partisanship, 2-for-1 pettiness, 2-for-1 mistake. No thank you. Obama 08.
- kipmartin, on 04/14/2008, -2/+10i would but i dont understand WTF you are talking about.
- More4, on 04/15/2008, -0/+8Hillary & Lieberman, peas in a pod, are doing their best to insure we get another four years of disastrous Bush policies. Let's hope their states retire them soon!
- kipmartin, on 04/14/2008, -0/+8let the record show you dont believe we Pennsylvanians are smart.
can you cite concrete 'due diligence' (youve misused the term, by the way) as proof? like they say, 'Pictures, or it didnt happen'. i want proof. - inactive, on 04/14/2008, -1/+9Ah more keen insight from RR Jackson. The extra R stands for redneck.
- Gigs, on 04/15/2008, -0/+8Klisk, I want to offer a piece of advice. Read "The Audacity of Hope". Barack addresses each one of your points directly, and much more eloquently than anyone here. I'd even mail you mine when I'm done with it. Also, I don't think he addresses, and I agree wholeheartedly, that Hillary has larger testicles. Perhaps she has more than two as well, having eaten Bill's.
- acroyear2, on 04/14/2008, -5/+13You elitist! How dare you be anything other than comfortable!
- actorboy, on 04/14/2008, -2/+9Wait, Obama is Bush 2.0? Have you noticed that Hillary is the one using GOP talking points to attack Obama?
- kipmartin, on 04/14/2008, -3/+10very informative. next time NBC wants commentary, tell them to contact your talented friend.
- Arishia, on 04/14/2008, -2/+9You know, that was what I heard in his comments as well. Wedge politics. I was thinking I had lost it all weekend, because I couldn't understand what all the fluff was about. I finally figured out earlier today what the 'other' interpretation was. Oh well, I'm old and slow and I'm poor and maybe not sophisticated enough to understand these complicated arguments well enough to get all hot and bothered.
- x0rcist, on 04/15/2008, -0/+7I agree, but he didn't make a mistake. What he said is completely true. The government has been ***** around for far too long and the people are pissed off because of it. He understands this and hopefully if (when) he gets elected he'll do something about it.
- MrHooper, on 04/14/2008, -0/+6Not smart enough, I'm afraid. I'm pretty sure PA will be won by Hillary. Not by a large margin... she is losing her hold, but there are enough old folks out there that just aren't interested in looking seriously at Obama... that are afraid of him. They claim he is too liberal, but I think they just can't bring themselves to vote for a black "alleged" Muslim. Yes, I can't talk my own parents out of believing that crap.
- defektiv, on 04/14/2008, -1/+7i almost don't want to jinx the whole moment but that gives me hope. i'm literally surrounded by bush lovers that love to put the lounge television on faux at my hotel right now and its literally refreshing to see people with an ounce of sense. makes me even happier that cnn covered it that way.
- amawg9, on 04/14/2008, -0/+6Slowly?
- asskicker32, on 04/14/2008, -1/+7Me too. Im thinking, "What am I missing? What he said doesnt seem that strange to me, because people are ignoring the economy and jobs because it seems that it wont make a difference so they vote on what will? Is that what this uproar is about?"
- damndj, on 04/14/2008, -0/+6She didn't get booed or heckled. She got NO'd!
- Drahkar, on 04/15/2008, -0/+5That's the most off base comment I've heard about Obama yet. There is absolutely no concern on -anyone's- part that Obama is Bush 2.0. More that they are concerned that he won't be able to effectively lead the country which I think is a stupid fear. He certainly couldn't do any worse than Bush has. And I highly doubt he'll even be close to that.
You go ahead and vote for the lying and self-centered wench. You will quickly find even fewer liberties for the American people in the name of protecting the state. You have to remember that Hillary may label herself a Democrat, but in reality she is Neo-Con through and through. She does not have your best interests in mind. Only her and those who stand to make money off her getting into office. - Harabeck, on 04/14/2008, -2/+7It will never be enough until the whole world agrees with digg. So pretty much it will never be enough.
- motivatedmama, on 04/14/2008, -1/+6Oh? Was it Huffspam when they broke the "bittergate" story? I bet it wasn't for you.
- malex, on 04/14/2008, -0/+5... And yet, lower than they were in late March.
- aphexcoil, on 04/14/2008, -7/+12Watching Hillary continue with her campaign is like watching a massive train-wreck in super slow motion. A part of me doesn't want her to drop out because I seriously think she'll kill Bill live on stage at the DNC once she snaps -- and that makes for great television!
- HappyProgrammer, on 04/14/2008, -0/+5Unimaginable debt? Unimaginable debt? Dont you even get me ***** started on that! We already are under unimaginable debt and maybe you can find a way to blame Obama for that instead of the crooks currently in power that are in a rush to break all spending records. You want more of what we got now?
If you are not ***** pissed then you are not paying attention! - zymyrgy, on 04/14/2008, -2/+7I'd say Hillary being elected. And from every instance of her pandering comments, her backstabs, her inability to put Obama down, she's resorted to calling him an "elitist" - something both she and McCain, old-school DC nobility, are by definition. I'm an Obama supporter not because I love Obama, but because Hillary, and McCain scare the hell out of me for this country's future. So yes, there's a politic of fear - but it's a fear of the two worst people running in this election who want to keep America on the same path it's always been on in the last 20 years. So yep, count me scared for Obama.
- veloscaper, on 04/14/2008, -1/+5so when I booed or dugg you down that must mean I was referring to Obama and not you, right? don't think so.
- V0lk, on 04/14/2008, -1/+5I'm unaware of Obama ever killing a baby....perhaps you could provide some facts to back up your accusations?
- inactive, on 04/14/2008, -1/+5Example?
- MacEnvy, on 04/15/2008, -1/+5Considering HuffPo was the site that BROKE this story in the first place (releasing the audio of the original speech in SF), it's pretty stupid to call them an Obama spam machine. It's an editorial/diary site, like many others, and can't be put into any particular category.
Those who would blame HuffPo, or Kos, or Digg, or any other free social site for being monolithically *anything* are merely distressed at hearing things they don't like to hear. These sites don't do anything - it's the individuals on the sites who make them what they are. - asskicker32, on 04/14/2008, -2/+6Im trying to be unbiased here, but isnt what Obama said... "Of course these people are bitter. They have been lied to... so they cling to [things that are important and the only topics that seem to be sold to them] (such as) guns and religion..."
Or is he saying that they are all gun-toting religous zealots? Because I think its the former. It would be, to me, "those [Californians] cling to [sunshine and movies]" -
