- Anomaly100, on 04/22/2009, -14/+412WTF was Obama supposed to do, spit on Chavez? He didn't have sex with him or go into business with him. He shook his damn hand.
Damn Hillary!!! I wonder if his voice is higher now...She made us proud! - Maddoktor2, on 04/22/2009, -14/+345Um, Mr. Pence?
Who opened trade negotiations with China?
Nixon.
Who got the US out of Viet Nam?
Nixon.
And what was Nixon?
That's right, a Republican.
Did you [conveniently] forget about him, Mr. Pence? - mabs0, on 04/22/2009, -6/+328Very well said! I grew up in one of those countries that denounced the West as the great evil that must be destroyed. I don't remember, during whispered conversations at the dinner table, my family or our friends interpreting the meetings between Soviet leaders and US Presidents as being a sign that America is legitimizing the Soviet regime. Quite the opposite. We took them as a sign that the Soviet leadership was weak enough to shake hands with the people they denounced so loudly in their propaganda. It was a sign of hope that sanity will prevail and it will keep us from blowing each other up.
Lot of people say that Regan is credited by Eastern Europeans for freeing them from the Soviets. Not really... but he is credited for at least stopping by to say hi, which meant a lot. - Pyehole, on 04/22/2009, -16/+228I spent the last 16 years having utter contempt for Hillary Clinton. In those few minutes, she gave me a new found respect for her.
- SpeedyThing, on 04/22/2009, -7/+182If Mr. Pence didn't see that response coming then he was a complete idiot. The second he opened his mouth it was obvious what the rebuke would be at let's be honest - it was a very fair one.
- freedomjoe, on 04/22/2009, -16/+178I love that woman. What grace she has! I loved when she mentioned that she ran a primary against Obama and lost, because he put forth a different approach. And he won the election....Americans want Obama 's approach. You go girl!!! Tell that moron! Why in the heck do Republicans value swagger over substance? it's always the same focus on image and not results. Same thing they do with abortion- it's not really about cutting down abortion, or they would adopt the proven liberal approach of sex ed and birth control.
Cheap-suited, empty-headed clowns. All flash and no substance. - woodsjransom, on 04/22/2009, -7/+167Pence was clearly being a punk azz, female made man trying to get Hillary to join in on a gossip fest of public opinion. That was a waste of taxpayer money to ask questions such as that. He sure did not like Hill's answer either. That whole dialogue certainly brought something of value to American taxpayers lives today. What a clown!!!
- inactive, on 04/23/2009, -13/+156She should have concluded with: "Now, sit the ***** down and shut the ***** up."
- joeditto, on 04/22/2009, -18/+143You tell em Hillary!
IMO...the sooner the current Republicans are voted out of office, the quicker America can work towards Peace.
These Republican bullies need to wake up...Their playbook does not work.
Hate breeds more hate, they've proved this time & time again. - JoeParanoid, on 04/22/2009, -13/+129She also just nailed Cheney on his credibility.
The only way Repugs can pretend to stand on conviction is for everyone to suffer from serious memory loss. Whatever happened to the party that agreed to detente and nuclear non-proliferation? - ocean17, on 04/22/2009, -13/+102Brilliant! I'm 'across the pond' admmittedly and love seeing the thrill of the USA's attitude re-assert itself. The clarity of its Constititution is back - thank you Hilary!
- ForumDriv, on 04/23/2009, -7/+88Pence is not an idiot, but he walked right into this one and was chewed up and spit out. When the Dems can outclass the Rs (and Pence is on the R's A-Team) on foreign policy so completely; when old saws like commie and red fall so flat; when the Bush legacy weighs like an anvil around their necks; it is clear it is going to be a very long time before that clique is back in power.
Glad to see Democrats saying 'here is what we are doing, we think what we are doing is the right thing to do, and here is why...' Affirmative statements of principled action are not the Dems' strong suit, but Mrs. Clinton, Mr. Obama, and a number of others have started to find their voice. - Echota, on 04/22/2009, -9/+88Hahaaaa! Now that folk's,was a first class bitch slap!
- dixta, on 04/23/2009, -12/+90Oh yeah, YAY Mr Nixon! Incidentally he's also the guy that turned America's health care system into a profit-driven meat grinder for the poor.
- coltraning, on 04/23/2009, -3/+77The dumb-ass store called; they're running out of you.
- paintgrl, on 04/23/2009, -10/+71Ha ha, I love the look of a little boy who was just caught doing something wrong on Pence's face. Hillary really just showed him how wrong he is. I wonder if he was able to pull his tighty whiteys out of his crack after that.
- maxamus11, on 04/23/2009, -3/+59HILLARYIOUS!!!!
- inactive, on 04/23/2009, -1/+47There's a C-SPAN 3????
- cerejota, on 04/23/2009, -3/+47Another comment with no connection to reality. Care to provide a quote to support your bullcrap?
- inactive, on 04/23/2009, -12/+55You spent the last 16 years being influenced by right-leaning media and popular opinion of talking ***** about Hillary? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have voted for her, because there was Obama. But she is pretty ***** amazing.
- MelvinSchlubman, on 04/23/2009, -6/+47What is it with conservatives and their predilection for blunt, simple strategies over nuanced, practical ones? It's this: belief over evidence. They really love to believe, so they'll stick with their belief-based strategy over a more science-based, evidentiary and reason-based one. This over-reliance on belief is a character flaw that unfortunately brings harm to the rest of us to the extent that they're in power.
- ErickStevenson, on 04/23/2009, -8/+49What sickens me is that the Republican party would rather see the US and the American people suffer than to have this administration succeed on anything. These are the same people who for the past 8 years have had an attitude of .. "we have to support our president no matter what!"... but they can't seem to do the same if it's not a Republican president... how surprising, very typical hypocrites. Not saying we have to support Obama on everything he decides, I think we should hold him accountable, just like we SHOULD HAVE held Bush accountable for what he was doing (wonder where these same Republicans where back then...). I don't agree with everything Obama has done or not done (investigation on Bush/Cheney Administration for one) But I would hope and wish that this administration improves our current situation not only economic wise but also fix the broken foreign relations that was destroyed by the last administration. And instigating hate and civil war in time of crisis is the most un-American thing I have ever heard...
/rant - Kaegro, on 04/23/2009, -3/+44According to Fox news, they're gay ( Chavez & Obama ) and they share beds in the same hotel.
Fox is run by Repugs. They'll say anything. - Bdog2g2, on 04/23/2009, -2/+37172 days and the taste is still bitter?
- Taiyoryu, on 04/23/2009, -1/+35Most people in favor of national healthcare don't want government-run, healthcare providers. They want health care providers to remain private (or actually mixed if you include the VA, military, public clinics, etc.). What most people are advocating is a single-payer system, in other words a single insurance pool backed by the government, one that is cost-conscious, focused on patient health, and isn't motivated by profit. Healthcare providers negotiate with a single entity rather than the fractured system that exists now. A national healthcare system does not automatically equate to a government-run one. Also healthcare insurers do not equal healthcare providers.
- bobbarkerbilly, on 04/23/2009, -1/+34Newsflash to above repliers - Despite Nixon's corruption, opening up China is considered one of his great accomplishments.
Not everything is black and white. - manosinistra, on 04/23/2009, -1/+33Needless! That was implicit, so she scored even more by not having to say it...
- Phylter, on 04/22/2009, -3/+33Swagger is just Old Spice re-packaged. Much like the Republican playbook. Cheap, smelly and drives people away.
- inactive, on 04/23/2009, -5/+34Yes, of course. The President should spit in the face of Hugo Chavez and go home. You'd get a kick out of it, and if that's a terrible approach that ends ***** up America, who cares! Your little Republican minority and its loony agenda is suddenly more important than the United States of America.
Dude, shut the ***** up and go back to school, or I'm gonna go there and educate you in ways that your mommy and daddy never did. - DLPizzle, on 04/23/2009, -7/+33Is it just me, or did Hillary Clinton get a little bit sexier all of a sudden?
- nedzeve, on 04/23/2009, -0/+261 - House
2 - Senate
3 - Committees - dixta, on 04/23/2009, -3/+28In all seriousness tho, I do understand what you're saying..... it's not like Republican presidents haven't engaged in dialogue with communist leaders in the past.
- rotundo, on 04/23/2009, -2/+26Actually, I think it did bring something of great value. Fact is, there are an enormous number of people in the US who feel as Mr. Pence does and he is there representing them and getting their questions answered.
Would that we were past some of these tired discussions, but we're not, and it's Hillary's job (and Obama's and whoever else) to clearly answer the misinformed segment of society. Even if only a handful of people were made to think because of this statement, it was worth it.
What's really a waste is that such debate is not going to be covered in the news media in any way so as to get to the people who most need to hear it. FOX news viewers are totally shielded from the logic presented here, and that is a true shame. - MischiefGirl, on 04/23/2009, -4/+28I remember Clinton doing a lot of weird stuff during the election and thinking a lot of her behavior was unprofessional...but WOW she has really come into her own. Her rebuttal was clear and concise. She advocated the benefits of the White House stance and completely refuted his whole premise with hard fact. Through her whole statement she had nothing but the highest respect for her president and for Rep. Pence. Keep it up Madam Secretary!!
- inactive, on 04/23/2009, -4/+27Intelligent thoughts put together coherently -- It's so refreshing to get that from the white house.
- Delphium226, on 04/23/2009, -1/+23When one of these idiots backs up one of their stupid assertions with any kind of meaningful insight/fact, you can expect to find satan skating around in a frozen over hell.
- fascistpig, on 04/23/2009, -4/+25Pence couldn't even look her in the eye after that one.
- youareretarded, on 04/23/2009, -3/+24And? He said he would focus more effort to where the terrorists really are and that's in Afghanistan. This info came out during his campaign, were you not paying attention?
- yenshee, on 04/23/2009, -2/+21Speaking as someone who leans more towards Democratic policy goals, I still think there's a desperate need for intelligent and vigorous conservative opinion in Congress. It's a shame that we can't cycle the rather clueless current batch of republicans out and replace them with some fresh faces with new ideas.
- TsuruchiBrian, on 04/23/2009, -5/+23I just threw up in my mouth a little.
- ilgrappler, on 04/23/2009, -1/+18What-abouttery? No.
It's called an example, a precedent, referring to historical facts to make a connection that bolsters your argument. - monkeyrun, on 04/23/2009, -4/+21lol Did he just get tea-bagged by Hillary.
- Kaegro, on 04/23/2009, -2/+19Still would have been awesome if should would have.
- buzznjackal, on 04/23/2009, -1/+18Yeah I saw that clip on The Daily Show Tuesday. FoxNews did indeed say that. They have become the Jerry Springer of News.
- AgeofMastery, on 04/23/2009, -4/+20Who the ***** is comfort1872 and why should we give a ***** what he says?
- inactive, on 04/23/2009, -14/+30Just plain pathetic. Typically Republican. Pathetic.
- stfinley, on 04/23/2009, -4/+20The problem with elected officials like Pence is this, he is too busy asking that kind of stupid questions when there is much more serious things he should be doing! Why doesn't he and the rest of his party do something worthwhile for once!
- ViscidGobs, on 04/23/2009, -2/+17The last 8 years? The Republicans have ruled the United States for 40 of the last 60 years. The War on drugs. Fail. The War on terror. Fail. The Embargo on Cuba. Fail. The War on Iraq. Fail. The War in Afghanistan. Fail. The Isolation of Iran. Fail. The Isolation of North Korea. Fail.
That white man republican is what was voted for. He's acting like some two-bit journalist quoting Anatoly Scharansky to make himself seem moderately well read. What a waste of time to expect the Secretary of State to sit through a Politics 101 course.
Amateur Night. - inactive, on 04/23/2009, -1/+15Evidence requires knowledge.
Belief can be created out of thin air and waved like a flag of inviolable self-importance. Conservatives like that approach. It's easier to just be wrong. - inactive, on 04/23/2009, -2/+16That's the only approach to deal with conservatives at this point.
