- cg4et, on 02/15/2008, -2/+90This has to be painful for everyone over at Team Hillary. I think a lot of people have been upset in recent days because the sense is that the superdelegates will somehow overturn the will of the voters. I think that John Lewis' decision to switch from Hillary to Obama is a major signal that this would not happen. Many more superdelegates will switch (perhaps in both directions) before all is said and done.
- arzim, on 02/15/2008, -3/+50Wow, this is a blow for Hill's camp. Not shocking, though - there is an undeniable sense of momentum for Obama and I have a feeling that this trend will continue. I wonder what Hillary's reaction, if any, will be to this defection? Most likely, she will exhibit her predictable gracelessness and her complete inability to lose -- or win -- with class. On one hand, I'm enjoying this implosion of her campaign and on the other, I just want it to be over, already. Ohio, Texas... Please don't let us down!

- jimmyhoffa2222, on 02/15/2008, -6/+43This endorsement is huge. The crack in the dam is starting to break apart.

obama - theDunedan, on 02/15/2008, -2/+32Isn't this only right since Hillary is now actively pursuing the seating of the Florida and Michigan delegates, those won in races she agreed not to campaign in.
Anyone who comments, please help me with my recollection. Didn't she get Obama and the others to withdraw their names (by consensus) from the Michigan ballot, and then never really got around to removing her own name. And although she didn't campaign in Florida (though some have claimed she did), she stretched the limits of her credibility by giving a campaign "rally" just after the poles closed there. I suppose that some of these super delegates are thinking, if Hillary can go back on her pledges, why can't we -- thus lending a hand to get the person who is winning honestly an honest win. - cibomatto, on 02/15/2008, -2/+24I hope this sends a positive trend for the rest of the delegates to follow the will of the Nation. I was in Hillarys Camp for the longest time until I started to hear her people say things about how NY and CA are the states that "count". I want a President who sees everyone as equals. Blacks, Whites, Rich, Poor, Large State, Small State.
She is running this election VERY ugly and is dividing the Nation so I am leaning towards Obama. - MonsterChaOS, on 02/15/2008, -1/+20I'm personally glad he did. Like he said, he is doing it to prevent a war in the party.
Obama will more than likely win the popular vote. I'd say any superdelegate that votes contrary to the popular vote isn't doing their job. - rz8472, on 02/15/2008, -3/+20Where the hell is nooo? I would expect him to make some stupid comment alleging Obama is some sort of terrorist because of his unconventional name by now.

Filter out 2008 Election news in your preferences if you don't like these sorts of stories. Problem solved. We're in the middle of an election, and an incredibly interesting election at that. I would expect lots and lots more election news until the general election in November, 2008. If you're not interested, simply shut that section off. It's no surprise that Obama and Ron Paul dominate the news cycle here. Both candidates enjoy overwhelming support from young males, which likely constitute around 80% of the digg.com readership. - MacSuxWindozSux, on 02/15/2008, -2/+16All it takes is for a few people to make the switch. Then more will follow.
Most won't want to be the first and risk being the only, to switch. - manetheren, on 02/15/2008, -6/+19The Obama train is picking up steam.
Yes We Can. - pianomahnn, on 02/15/2008, -4/+16What kinda of fantasy political system do you think we have?
- souljaboytellem, on 02/15/2008, -4/+16That's real funny and all, but Obama isnt going to lose
- FcukAllYall, on 02/15/2008, -2/+14Wow...a Superdelegate with some SENSE!!!!!
- TheUngod, on 02/15/2008, -0/+10Sorry the national primaries just aren't that important to you. Some of us, however, care.
- stevetrojanman, on 02/15/2008, -1/+10The Name Game...awesome
- LanMan66, on 02/15/2008, -0/+8You were correct in what you heard about Michigan. They both SIGNED PLEDGES to not campaign or participate in any way in primary elections in Michigan and Florida. They were also requested to withdraw their names from the Michigan ballot. All of the candidates EXCEPT for Billary complied with removing their names in Michigan. Billary conveniently "didn't get around to it" so her name was the only one on the ballot. The sad part is that even with her name being the ONLY ONE on the ballot, she still only captured 70ish percent of the vote in Michigan.
From what I remember hearing about the Florida debacle, technically she didn't "campaign" there....she just threw a huge "fundraising event." At that event, she gave a speech where she promised the voters to exert pressure to try to get their delegates seated so that "their voices could be heard." - neognostic, on 02/15/2008, -0/+8I live in Dallas, and email went out in error stating that Obama himself would be a a small coffee house south of town, in 2 days 4700 people signed up. It was just supposed to be a get together for local people who support him. His campaign had nothing to do with it, but I sure that they are pleased with the response. The Republicans are walking around here with a look of utter dismay.
- inactive, on 02/15/2008, -2/+10Damn dirty hippies, stay in your country...
- Logan42, on 02/15/2008, -0/+8double fail. There can be only one...
- seanherman, on 02/15/2008, -1/+9lets not get ahead of ourselves. There's still tons of grassroots work to be done before victory is even remotely possible.
Want to actually help out? Start making some phone calls to Wisconsin. It's incredibly easy, with script and numbers provided. Mostly, you're just identifying potential Obama supporters, so the campaign can follow up with those voters on election day, as part of their massive Get Out the Vote (GOTV) effort to increase Obama friendly turnout.
http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/phonebankma ... - retawd, on 02/15/2008, -2/+10I live in Georgia and every old black politician is either a "Civil Rights Hero" or a "Reverend". It often means they got their picture taken with MLK at some point and went on record as not liking segregation.
- DJPhoenix, on 02/15/2008, -0/+7It's not inaccurate. He's going to vote for Obama as a superdelegate because that's the way his constituents voted. He just hasn't decided if he's going to personally endorse Obama yet. He can vote the will of his people and still endorse the opposition. Reading comprehension ftw.
- merper, on 02/15/2008, -1/+8Texas looks to the best bet for an Obama win. It's only down by 10% in a popular vote and 1/3 of the delegate allocation is by caucus. Ohio...ohio has hillary up 21%. If Obama can get it to 10-15% and win texas, that would be good.
- coboman, on 02/15/2008, -0/+7Ain't freedom of speech a bitch.
- seanherman, on 02/15/2008, -1/+8To be clear, John Lewis actually isn't withdrawing his endorsement from Hillary Clinton. Instead, he'd just pledging to vote for Obama as a superdelegate at the convention in Aug. In other words, he's still effectively on Hillary's "side", but won't use his vote to flout the clear will of his constituents, who voted overwhelmingly (with Putin-like margins) for Obama in GA.
An admirable move; I hope other superdelegates follow his example.
Also, Theisos was a little rude about it, but I agree it seems you're having some metaphor troubles. I understand what you're getting at though. - neognostic, on 02/15/2008, -0/+6Nope. I was a Bill Clinton backer when he was President, but with all of the lies, divisive politics, trying to seat MI and FL delegates, etc. I have lost a lot of respect I had for his Presidency. Hillary is not in the same class as Obama, (I've spent hours researching all of the candidates of both parties. Any HRC bashing is deserved.
- ronaldinho, on 02/15/2008, -2/+8What a blow to Hillary. But I think what John Lewis and David Scott did is the right thing to do, which is to be one in mind with the people in their district instead of voting against the people. Props to them and hope more to follow, because I'm tired of playing the government vs people game everyday. It's refreshing to see someone actually working FOR the common people.
- inactive, on 02/15/2008, -1/+6I'm gonna keep digging it up, just for you.
- bitspace, on 02/15/2008, -0/+5I buried both of your threadjacking comments. It's sleazy enough when you post it once, but spamming it twice 5 minutes apart is pathetic.
- theDunedan, on 02/15/2008, -1/+6TheSwashbucker, thank you for your response. So did I hear wrong that Hillary's name was on the ballot in Michigan and Barack's was not because he withdrew his name but she did not?
Regarding, "only if you're biased against her." Well, yes. You got that right. But I must say she earned my disdain. And I am not whining. I am smirking. Smirking at you, that is, since I obviously touched a nerve there. - flossdaily, on 02/15/2008, -0/+5I was on the fence about their policies, because they would both be fine candidates. What it comes down to is electability, and it is now overwhelmingly obvious that Obama will sweep the national election, whereas Clinton can't possibly win.

- Nougat, on 02/15/2008, -3/+7Taxes are already high
Illegals already come into the country
We are losing the war on terrorism (if a war against a kind of attack is even possible)
The country is already undefended, with the military stretched so thin that we had to send all the Nat'l Guard troops overseas, *and* hire civilian contractors
Criminals seem to be running the country right now
The economy is already in the *****
There, fixed that for you.

Okay... that was only kind of gay, right? - franklymister, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3Superdelegates aren't supposed to be supporting their favorite, they're supposed to be supporting the candidate that got the most votes.
- JettaMan, on 02/15/2008, -3/+6Sorry, who? I've never heard of this "hero" before. Frankly, someone who would switch sides because they see that their side is losing seems more like an opportunist than a hero.
- Nougat, on 02/15/2008, -0/+3They have to, you guys require a college degree for permanent residency.
- zantos420, on 02/15/2008, -2/+5clinton < obama
- dksupremacy, on 02/15/2008, -0/+3you must not understand the importance of this election. This well may be the election that will set a precedent to World War 3. Of course we want to elect the candidate who's hear and mind is with the people. Can you give me one good reason why not to bash a lying scum like Hillary, who will evidently destroy America? It's America's future at hand and I applaud the people on the internet to expose the fraud Billary. Look at the bigger picture
- 5lack3r, on 02/15/2008, -4/+7Why make up a completely inaccurate headline?? That's lame. Should have read:
Civil Rights Hero John Lewis Considering Switch from Hillary to Obama - phytolacca, on 02/15/2008, -0/+2I likewise have to say a big NOPE! Keep the establishment bashing set to warp 9 Mr. Sulu..
