- what happens if the "Right"/"Left" get into positions of power next? - ROaks, on 07/16/2008, -9/+30I am a Christian, not Catholic, and a l o n g way from their theology, but I will have to stand with them in this. This move by SF and Colorado could really be the beginning of real persecution of the Body of Christ. DuggDowner, Lut....what ever are jumping for joy. I can see them now. Well, what ever. When it is said and done Christians will still be on top.

- Sandy1000, on 07/16/2008, -6/+26I wonder how homosexuals in San Francisco who happen to be Catholic are taking this. How do they feel about being told by the "most tolerant city in the nation" that we accept your sexual choices and embrace them, but we reject and condemn your choice of religion. You and your sodomite lifestyle may stay, but if you continue to engage in Catholic worship we think you are disgusting haters and want you to leave. How about it SF homosexuals... do you feel welcomed by your city now? Will you surrender your religious beliefs for bowl of tolerant stew? Ahhh, the "most tolerant city" indeed.

so yes, it could be called a sodomite city. - inboxnews, on 07/16/2008, -11/+30And so it continues. My fellow Christians, it won't be long now. Mathew 25.

- downs1, on 07/16/2008, -8/+23Are you surprised? Gays revel in their life style and openly support others who do the same. It isn't the Catholic Church that is condemning them, it is God Himself, but they don't want to hear that. They just need someone to blame. Someday each one of these folks will know the truth, and they will shake their fist at God and blame Him for their damnation. God has no delight in seeing them go off into an eternity without Him, but it is a choice they make. The only basis for His forgiving sin is based on the sacrifice His Son made for men. But, these folks don't want to hear that either. Too many things that are happening around the world today suggest that the end times are coming very soon, and these folks have stubbornly rejected the only way to salvation. They have been deceived and are deceiving themselves. To argue with them is futile, and only makes them dig their heels in more firmly. You win some, and you lose some. We've essentially lost this one, although there are some who are seeing the light and are leaving the gay life-style, to the absolute chagrin of others. Sometimes you have to cut the rope and let the boat go. Where these folks are concerned, they are drifting to disaster.

- rightwingkiller, on 07/16/2008, -6/+21No one wants to face the fact that the Church's sex scandal was about HOMOSEXUAL priests and not pedophiles. Pedophiles look for young children and typically the opposite gender. Check the medical definition of a pedophile. The priests were after teenage boys and were just homosexuals who like them young. Find the cases of priests going after young girls? Here in Mass where there were so many cases they point to one case of a priest who had an affair with a 35 year old church employee!
As for the Homosexual claim that their life style is normal, please show me ONE culture/civilization in all of human history that has embraced homosexual relations and survived.
Show me just one from a hundred thousand years of human life.
I do not want homosexuality made normal any more than I want those who practice it made criminals or attacked. The Homosexual agenda wants to replace "tolerance" with "promotion".
As the Christ taught us, hate the sin and not the sinner. - chickenbig, on 07/16/2008, -4/+18I converted to Catholicism in college and fully support the Church's teaching on homosexuality. It is deeply grounded in natural law and makes complete sense. That is also why the priest abuse scandals were such a travesty. Michael Rose, in his book "Goodbye, Good Men" explains exactly how liberalism infected the Church and the seminaries in the 1960s and created this vile cancer. While it is not accurate to say that all homosexuals are pedophiles, it is accurate to say that 81 percent of all the documented cases of priest abuse were with boys. Hmmm...now what does that tell us?

fta: "Following a gathering of 25,000 teens at San Francisco's AT&T Park as part of Ron Luce's Teen Mania "Battle Cry for a Generation" rally against the sexualization of America's youth culture by advertisers and media, the board spoke out formally again.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a resolution condemning the "act of provocation" by what it termed an "anti-gay," "anti-choice" organization that aimed to "negatively influence the politics of America's most tolerant and progressive city."
Openly homosexual California Assemblyman Mark Leno told protesters of the teen rally that though such religious people may be few, "they're loud, they're obnoxious, they're disgusting, and they should get out of San Francisco." " - radicalmiddle, on 07/16/2008, -6/+20What amazing hypocrisy foments in San Francisco. The gay activists responsible for this are acting like a gestapo. Who is Mark Leno to say someone shouldn't live in SF-that is un-American and fascist! Hey, Leno, Americans don't ALL AGREE--on all kinds of things except the RIGHT TO DISAGREE!! Read your history and study the ethos of this democracy!! These guys are telling the Catholic Church with all of it's congregations, charities, relief organizations, human services, private education, college preparatory High Schools, etc. to LEAVE??? All congregants--LEAVE?? Then let the Catholics take the City's Catholic name with them--for Francis is a Saint of the Catholic Church--not their ilk. They can then re-name the City after one of their bigoted supervisors. Talk about Hate Speech--these guys are rabid.

- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -7/+20I have a lot of problems with the Catholic Church. But their stand on deviant sex is correct. But let's not forget that homosexuality is but sin. Christ will forgive with a change of heart and repentance. We as a country need to pray fervently for the salvation of those living in this sin and others. Remember, folks having sex out of wedlock are sinning too. Prayer is the answer.

"Sometimes you have to cut the rope and let the boat go." I think that I will keep throwing the rope. As they drift away one just might make the right choice to grab it. There by making a life saving choice to repent. - Sandy1000, on 07/16/2008, -10/+23Yes, take it as a positive sign of affirmation that you are on the right side! This should not be a surprise to any student of the Bible. This is expected, prophecied and only at the very beginning. Complete reprobation is evident when they no longer care that they are defiantly defying the Word of God and now seek to utterly destroy those who dare to warn them against their abomination. Don yourselves with the whole armor of God and prepare for all out spiritual (and soon to be physical) warfare, the war has been waging for a long time and the battle cry has been sounded. Let's roll!
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -2/+15drachemoredr: If I recall correctly you are in the state of LA., right? This case may ring a bell then.
Actually yes - not in the sense of bullets flying at this point.
This occurred in New Orleans back in the 90's due to overt rampant corruption of city officials (due to drugs being soled by the cops, embezzled of city funds from the mayor, fixed elections, falsely arresting the citizens, brutality, intimidation, etc...) that the Department of Justice after a complete under cover investigation stepped in and REPLACED them literally with a temporary force until FREE and fair elections were held by the people. No bullets required.
And this case is highly possible in San Fransisco, violating the Constitution's prohibition of government hostility toward religion, which jeopardizes the citizens that are Christian and/or Catholics safety literally. In addition, San Fransisco has been in hot water in many forms of corruptness as well. So yes this is very possible. The citizens of San Francisco could demand an investigation from the Justice Department. I hope they will. - jb1965, on 07/16/2008, -3/+16Well we see what happens when the left get into power! They try to run churches out of town for preaching that sin is sin! I don't know for sure but I doubt there are any conservatives in positions of power in San FranSISSYco!
- downs1, on 07/16/2008, -1/+13Thanks for your reply. You are absolutely right! Our job is not to "save" these folks, but to tell them the truth. Some will listen, others won't. So long as we have the ability to share the Gospel, we must. My comment was that we "win" some and we "lose" some. It isn't up to us. We are simply the messengers; it is the Holy Spirit that convicts and it is He that saves. Praise the Lord, more are coming out of this destructive lifestyle. Have a great day! Blessings!
- drachemorder, on 07/16/2008, -1/+13Mississippi actually, but close enough. At least you didn't say LA as in Los Angeles. We might have had to have words at that point. ;)
But yeah, it's high time something is done about the government in San Francisco, by whatever means are necessary. - Orwell007, on 07/16/2008, -9/+21This shouldn't surprise anyone. The Marxists declared God dead in the 1950's and they have been steadily burying him ever since. It is past time that Americans continue tolerating the insanity coming out of the People's Republic of California. It is the height of arrogance when a lowly city official can nullify the Constitution of the United States. This is exactly why the Marxists have been trying to pass hate-speech laws here.
We could try giving California back to the Mexicans, but I expect they would reject the offer. They have far more class than the Marxists parasites in California do. - Coven, on 07/16/2008, -2/+14Sandy, gay animal couples have been observed to raise orphaned offspring. Sounds analogous to homosexual couples adopting children, doesn't it?
- drachemorder, on 07/16/2008, -11/+23I wonder, is there any way possible to declare war on San Francisco?
- Sandy1000, on 07/16/2008, -4/+15So is China and Hong Kong but San Francisco warmly embraces their culture, people, beliefs, social practices, religion etc.as evident with the very bustling Chinatown in the middle of the city. What's your point?
- KCLorelei39, on 07/16/2008, -2/+13granted, they did not specifically state on record the Catholics should leave - but read the resolution for yourself, there's a link elsewhere on the thread.
they defy our Constitution with acts such as these. - proveritas, on 07/16/2008, -5/+16Sounds a bit like Nero and the burning of Rome is about to commend - in this case - San Francisco! Gee, makes me wonder why they never bothered to change the name to Beelzebub, CA for the prince of Demons!
- chickenbig, on 07/16/2008, -0/+11You are trying to put words in my mouth. The "vile cancer" to which I reference is the recent spate of sex abuse scandals. I am not saying that there weren't problems before that. Where the Church went wrong in the 1960s was to hire secular psychologists and psychiatrists to screen their applicants to seminary.
- TheCatsPants, on 07/16/2008, -2/+12"a l o n g way from their theology"
a long way how? I think you have more in common than differences. - inactive, on 07/16/2008, -1/+11What is your point? What citizens of Vatican City have been to San Francisco to influence their laws? None. Catholicism may be the predominate religion of those who live in Vatican City (obviously), but just because someone is a practicing Catholic doesn't mean that they are a delegate of a foreign nation. It's amazing how far you homosexuals have to go in your desperate attempts to justify your disgusting, repulsive, abnormal, sinful behavior.
- Coven, on 07/16/2008, -2/+12"Simply taking care of an orphaned person or animal will not result in the proliferation of the species."
Lets see...orphaned animal is abandoned by its 'community'...it dies. Orphaned animal is 'adopted' by a gay animal couple, it survives and passes on its genes. I'd say that is contributing to the proliferation of a species.
If you want to be technical about it, we wont call it adoption, as it is a legal term. Animals caring for other animals young is a very real thing though, and it does take place both in the wild and in captivity. To argue semantics on this is both disingenuous and intellectually dishonest, as you put it.
Homosexuality occurs on its own, in nature, without human intervention, across many species. To claim it is not a natural occurrence is both disingenuous and intellectually dishonest. - Cate320, on 07/17/2008, -1/+11@Sandy:
"Simply surviving does not pass on genes or any other organic matter. It must reproduce before it can pass on anything."
You are correct. However, one cannot reproduce if it doesn't survive long enough to do so. Increasing survival usually increases chance of reproduction.
"Homosexuality is counterintuitive to the existence and proliferation of life, it provides no beneficial biological purpose to any living species, it is a natural anomally and any creature displaying such natural deficits, left to its own, will be selected by nature for extinction."
Wrong. In humans, it has been shown that female relatives of homosexual males have higher than average fecundity. The same genes that contribute to the feminine traits in homosexuals, also increase the fertility of his female relatives. This is one scenario which allows homosexuality to persist without needing the homosexual to reproduce. Also, if you want to broaden this discussion to other members of the animal kingdom, there are some "homosexual" lizards which reproduce asexually. The entire population consists of only females that reproduce by parthenogensis. Even though the offspring are clones of the mothers and no "sex" actually occurs, they still require sexual behavior to stimulate reproduction. The members of the population will alternate "roles", giving them each a chance to breed. Therefore, even though this whole species is "homosexual" and shows "homosexual behavior", not only is it beneficial, but it is actually *necessary* to the proliferation of the species.
"In the animal world we all know what the alpha pack, the strongest and fittest do to the inferior, deficient, weak and unproductive member of its community. So if you attribute those animalistic instincts to human beings (and remember, YOU are the one who compared humans to animals here) it would only be natural that the stronger, dominant and healthy humans surround and destroy the unhealthy and deficient members of its species in order to promote and ameloirate the superior genetic qualities of the species."
Wrong again. Look up "Kin Selection" and "Reciprocal Altruism" for examples.
"Homosexuality does not exist in the natural world, it is a social construct and conscious choice made by humans who are the only living creatures apportioned the ability and privilege to reason in order to make such choices. You are deluding yourself if you believe Darwinism would allow for any other outcome."
Nope, see above for some examples. Homosexuality (and Bisexuality) occurs quite frequently in the natural world. Also, homosexuality isn't a "choice". Who would choose to be radically different from the societal "norm"? "Darwinism" allows for a lot more than things than are intuitively obvious. You are deluding yourself if you think you understand "Darwinism" at all. - Gapeseed, on 07/16/2008, -2/+12And the beat goes on. Pray for San Francisco. I used to live out there, and the faith communities there are strong, just outnumbered.
- ApokalypseNow, on 07/16/2008, -2/+12Additionally, in wolf packs with observed homosexual members, the gay males tended to stay with the females and cubs when the other males went hunting, providing additional defense for the den and helping ensure the survival of the next generation.
- ihateusernames3, on 07/16/2008, -3/+13there are plenty of ways that heterosexual couples have sex that dont involve procreation. A lot of people make the argument that 'gay people cant have kids so they are unnatural,' but very few people want to condemn the use of contraception, or married couples who have oral sex
- featheredchick, on 07/16/2008, -6/+16How can you say that pedophile priests are not homosexual? What do you mean that they are not the same? A sodomite is a sodomite is a sodomite. It's walking and quacking like a duck. Guess what? IT'S A DUCK!!!
- Coven, on 07/17/2008, -1/+11"Homosexuality does not exist in the natural world, it is a social construct and conscious choice made by humans who are the only living creatures apportioned the ability and privilege to reason in order to make such choices. Another 30 seconds of google foo and we have a monogamous gay relationship between penguins:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2 ... - eir574, on 07/17/2008, -2/+11"Adopting or feeding or taking care of or "insert your favorite word here" does not add to the numbers of the species"
Not directly, but if the "adopted" animal survives and reproduces when he otherwise might not have, then that helps to propagate the species. There are many examples of animals taking actions that even reduce their own odds of survival in order to help others survive. Take the example of animal species that sound alarms when a predator is nearby. The specific animals that sound the alarm give away their position and hence decrease their odds of survival, but in so doing they improve others' odds of survival. Interestingly, a couple of studies have shown that squirrels and prairie dogs are more likely to engage in this behavior when they're near close relatives.
If you're interested, google kin selection for more on this concept. - flip2trip, on 07/16/2008, -1/+10Hi again troll!
- frpearson, on 07/16/2008, -3/+12We have to pray for these poor persons. The psychological profile of a sodomite should bring forth our deepest compassion. God have mercy on them, and heal them.
