- TCP7, on 08/28/2008, -20/+388How can they say this? Don't they know McCain's a POW?
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -22/+200Ouch.
- JenniferInMO, on 08/28/2008, -20/+189I love the fact that Cindy has been telling people she is an only child when in fact she has 2 half sisters. I see why she wants to bury them. I don't get the conservatives who, in the past placed so much importance on family values. McCain admittedly had several affairs during his first marriage then left his children and injured first wife (the one who waited for him while he was a POW), all to marry this rich heiress who he calls a "c*nt." Barack Obama and Joe Biden are clearly devoted, loving husbands and fathers and no one, no one has been able to counter that. Just watching Obama and Biden interact with their wives and children as well as the fact that they both married strong, smart women says so much about their character. Yet, somehow family values is no longer important to the conservatives. I don't know what IS important to them any more. There is no message from McCain or the GOP. What are they "for"? We know what conservatives are against (Obama), but what are they "for"?
- jsatz23, on 08/28/2008, -20/+111Shows what a loving family they have. Not quite like the Obama family.
- Halbermunken, on 08/28/2008, -13/+87Deserves a bump up since the rightwingers are so sickengly holier than thou with their so called "family values".
- aitoaster, on 08/28/2008, -26/+76McCain is a POW POW POW POW POW POW POW
- badgermagics, on 08/28/2008, -7/+55RIGHT IN THE KISSER!
- BigPapi, on 08/29/2008, -9/+45At least Obama's willing to admit that he has a half-brother!
- inactive, on 08/29/2008, -4/+38I'm confused, was he a POW on 9/11?
- WasabiBomb, on 08/29/2008, -7/+40 "I was brought up well. I live well even now," he said. "The magazines, they have exaggerated everything. I think I kind of like it here. There are some challenges, but maybe it is just like where you come from, there are the same challenges."

The only people making a big deal out of Senator Obama's brother are people like you, doashoobs. I wonder why that is? - logosx1, on 08/29/2008, -12/+42Gee, I guess I should vote for Obama too! So glad they helped with that decision.
- CourtesyFlush, on 08/29/2008, -5/+33IN OTHER NEWS: Kevin Rose's half cousin twice removed dugg this story down.
- walkable, on 08/29/2008, -11/+37This is the part that really disturbed me:
"Portalski went public with her connection to the McCains after hearing Cindy say on the trail that she was an only child.
"I'm upset," she told NPR. "I'm angry. It makes me feel like a nonperson, kind of."
"It's terribly painful," Portalski added. "It is as if she is the 'real' daughter. I am also a real daughter."
The Washington Post subsequently reported that Cindy has another half-sister who seems to have slipped her mind:
'Before her marriage to Hensley, Johnson had a daughter, Dixie Burd, by a previous relationship. Burd, who is much older than Cindy, could not be reached for comment.'"
And we want to put someone in the White House who won't acknowledge her two sisters? Something seems wrong there. - chubbybubba, on 08/29/2008, -5/+31If McCain wasn't running for president, he would vote for Obama too.
(McCain is not a True Conservative, right now he's only pretending to be.) - insomniac8400, on 08/29/2008, -6/+28houses are to John
as sisters are to Cindy - inactive, on 08/28/2008, -14/+36Guess the entire family isn't a bunch of pill-popping genetic rejects after all.
- Cuchanu, on 08/28/2008, -4/+23I wouldn't say McCain has ignored his daughter. She just is not in the spotlight, the same as his other children.
Although that racist *****-sucker (no offense gay people) Karl Rove used her against McCain in parts of the racist south, she was "McCain's illegitimate black child." Because to a racist there is no difference between a black person and a Sri Lankan (I think that's where she's from) - Paul101590, on 08/29/2008, -44/+60Why should I care who they're voting for?
Buried. - catestarrr, on 08/28/2008, -6/+21lol
- dafragsta, on 08/29/2008, -2/+17I really hope the Giuliani curse strikes McCain.
- dan222555, on 08/29/2008, -26/+41Translation: I'm bitter because my half-sister has loads of money and didn't give me any handouts.
- absurdist, on 08/29/2008, -2/+16The same thing they've always been for. Power. Raw, naked power.
- girwen, on 08/29/2008, -6/+20I wish he was still a pow. You can't f&%# up a country from a pow camp.
- chrissku, on 08/29/2008, -12/+25The part that struck me the most was the story quoting Cindy McCain telling people she "is an only child." Cindy lied there.
Hey Cindy your husband is running for President. People will look into statements like that. - cindya, on 08/29/2008, -2/+15He called his wife a c*nt? I must have missed that one!
I was touched by how genuinely proud and full of love Michelle Obama appeared when Barack came on stage at the convention last night. - ashwinmudigonda, on 08/29/2008, -6/+18Perfect cream on the cake:
Interviewer: Senator McCain, how many wives do you own?
McBush: I...I have to get back to you about that. - smurfsahoy, on 08/29/2008, -8/+20Because it speaks to his family values, Einstein. Maybe if his own party didn't make that such a central issue, it wouldn't have been such an interesting story.
- WasabiBomb, on 08/29/2008, -8/+20How stupid do you have to be, anyway, to be in McCain's situation- incredibly wealthy, running for President, and yet you've got a potentially bitter sister-in-law that didn't get to inherit any of the money your wife did? I mean, when you decide to make the Presidential run, just pay her off- it's that simple.
Just letting her twist in the wind like this just guarantees bad press for your candidacy. A couple of hundred thousand dollars is well worth the good press you'd get for taking care of her.
I swear, it's like he really doesn't want to win the race. - asus2000, on 08/29/2008, -8/+19Cindy looks like a phoney to me.. Just a gut feeling.
- TheWorm, on 08/29/2008, -1/+10It reminds me of mudbloods in Harry Potter. There's a lot of parallels that can be drawn from voldemort supporters and conservative republicans.
- alricsca, on 08/29/2008, -2/+11Yes, because the women or men we choose to commit our lives too have no impact what so ever on us and in no way reflect our own choices.
- galore, on 08/29/2008, -1/+10That all doesn't matter. They could be philandering casanovas as long as they proclaim to be against abortion and gay rights and proclaim that they are good christians. That is enough. The value voters are that cheap.
Not just in the US. Also works in Europe (Sarkozy or Berlusconi). - WasabiBomb, on 08/29/2008, -7/+16It would only be hypocrisy if Obama was the one who posted this story.
- inactive, on 08/29/2008, -7/+16Eh, If my sister was telling people she was an only child.. chances are I would think she was a *****...
- absurdist, on 08/29/2008, -2/+10@WasabiBomb

- inactive, on 08/29/2008, -0/+8Raw naked POW?
- samimnot, on 08/29/2008, -1/+9People need to look behind this woman's motives...
I'm voting for Sen. Obama because I like his policies. She's voting for him, just because she has a grudge against Cindy and her father. Huff never should of posted this article...just bad karma. - humperdinck, on 08/29/2008, -2/+10"Kathleen Hensley Portalski tells Us"
Jesus Christ, it was in the summary. You didn't even have to RTFA. - MrBogard, on 08/29/2008, -0/+8You're right, it just means she's an ice cold bitch and an idiot.
Family values FTW, right? - mikesoba, on 08/29/2008, -8/+15That would be his sister-in-law, who his wife doesn't accept as her own kin-presumably because she is not wealthy, McCain's family being Elitist and all. Yet more Republican values.
- WasabiBomb, on 08/29/2008, -3/+10No, but the guy she supports financially IS. That's why it matters.
- AndrewDB, on 08/29/2008, -0/+7Actually.
John McCain was in Wedding Crashers with Kathryn Joosten, who was in Rails & Ties, with, you guessed it.. Kevin Bacon. - ahawks, on 08/29/2008, -1/+7POWERWHEELS!
- Br3ach, on 08/29/2008, -6/+13Awesome, Cindy is a world class bitch for the way she treats her family
- Xihix, on 08/29/2008, -10/+16Well, there's obviously some sort of family issues, making her vote for Obama out of spite. I haven't known many half siblings to get along that well.
- alricsca, on 08/29/2008, -5/+11Obama did not lie about his existence. If you knew any thing about Obama's life, you would know why they are not close. His brother is not unhappy with his choice of life, nor does he explicitly state his dislike for his brother. This women was much closer to her half sister, they all lived in the same country, and she is one of two sisters who have not been acknowledged. I would certainly want to hear more about the reasons for her feelings since being written out of existence by her sister has made it an issue.
- mogebier, on 08/29/2008, -15/+21She sounds a weeee bit old and bitter.
- funkyloki, on 08/29/2008, -2/+8Conservative and liberal: two words that do not mean what they used to mean.
- TheDarkstarter, on 08/29/2008, -4/+10That's the McCain/republican way: don't face up to the question and tell the truth, spin it back on the other guy.
