A candidate isn't his anti-war stance. He isn't his cliche' catch phrases about the Constitution.
RP as President would lead this country into Civil War. Preposterous, you say? Well, imagine this:
Iowa passes a law banning homosexual sex. Then they move forward on a resolution to outlaw Homosexuality all together because they also ignorantly decided all laws must follow the bible.
Meanwhile, in the militia nut-job haven up north (pick one- Montana, the Dakotas, et al), they pass laws which say that anyone caught having or performing an abortion can be subject to the death penalty.
A couple of years pass by and each state enacts some stupid law different from their neighboring state. This now leads to borders being closed to normal travel because police must 'check your papers' to see if you are crossing to perform an illegal act. Maybe Susie goes to Atlanta for an Abortion because Kansas wont let her have one, but Kansas decides to prosecute her anyway because she is a Kansas resident.
Eventually our country becomes marginalized with nutjob screwball hillbillies trying to impose their laws on everyone else and the intelligent free-thinkers fighting for the freedoms of all people. i.e. - CIVIL WAR
THAT is what will happen if you were able to elect this jackass into office. Besides...he's another republicant from Texas. How stupid does someone have to be to forget about what Bush did to this country?
This 'well, you will just move to another state if you don't like the laws where you are' crap is retarded. My family has lived in Florida and New Jersey all our lives because we have friends and loved ones nearby. Why the F*CK should I, or anyone, move?
This is 2007, kids...not 1776. We know all about the constitution. No one said we didn't. And also, not everyone who dislikes RP is a HIllary/Obama/Thompson/Hannity supporter. Some of us lean left. Others right.
You know what we truly need to get out of this bickering and partisan crap? a 2 party ticket for the WH. And no...not with RP as one of them.
-----
Stop isolating yourselves from criticism. Try engaging your detractors instead of calling them names or digging them down. You wont win any supporters that way...only resentment.
You want people to vote for RP? Then tell us why instead of simply patting yourselves on the back and giving 'the hand' to anyone who isn't convinced. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5that CAN'T POSSIBLY HAPPEN, david. Aren't you familiar with libertarianism? Once people/corporations/states are left to their own devices, they are automatically good-doing entities who couldn't possibly do something that would hurt others even if it furthered their own interests...
- davidwasman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Hopefully Digg wont kill the link, but since someone is bound to come in here challenging my assertion about religious societies, here's the proof:
religiousconsultation.org/News_Tracker/religion_equals_higher_abortion_rates.htm - Guydevice, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The Commerce Clause would prevent your sensationalist slippery slope scenario from happening.

The current system is great where you can move anywhere and not worry about those pesky potheads sitting around and not harming anyone and those immoral gays getting married.

For all we know most of you are Hillary supporters because not too many of you will offer a better alternative to Ron Paul. If you truly cared about intelligent discourse you would offer the candidate that you believe is best for this country instead of simply trying to convince us that our candidate sucks. - davidwasman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2That's the same argument the religious zealots make and studies prove that the more religious a society, the more instances of violence.
- NewDirection, on 11/13/2007, -3/+3I'll be there.
- Vicujozobenaxod, on 11/13/2007, -3/+1He would, if he is a true man of the Constitution, lift every major piece of gun control legislation on the books, and go after states for banning firearms (which IS illegal to do actually). That's not gonna make him popular with a LOT of people. Like I said, he is not the mandate of the people everyone makes him out to be. The second amendment is not popular with lefties, it's the only part of the constitution they refuse to defend.

I don't see this in my travels... In fact, it's mostly the other way around... - davidg11, on 11/13/2007, -5/+2There are online pledge drive sites (pledgedrive.com) that basically allow anyone to say "Ill donate X amount of dollars for a cause but only if X amount of people will do the same". A few have been formed for Ron Paul. The problem is we have multiple pledge drives opened by multiple people. I believe the solution to this multiple pledge drive chaos is having the Ron Paul campaign create ONE realistic pledge drive.
So what is realistic?
There are over 50,000 people in Ron Paul meetup groups. And 6000 more interested in joining one. So that's almost 60,000 people we know for a fact who are passionate for Ron Paul's success and could donate $100 per person over the next 90 days.
$5-$6 million raised. I'm estimating conservatively, there is at least ONE other Ron Paul supporter for every member not in a meetup group. Get them to donate $100 over the course of 90 days and what do you have? Ron Paul's goal of $12 million. ]
If you believe this is workable idea, get the word out to Ron Paul's campaign. Send an email to:
Jonathan Bydlak
Fundraising Director
jbydlak@RonPaul2008.com
or call their campaign: 703-248-9115
Let's show the other candidates just how organized we "fringe" supporters can be!
