- iraq, on 02/28/2008, -3/+23Of course he did, why do you think he was seated to begin with? Don't tell me you thought it was for the sake of "justice" or proper interpretation of the law. Corporatism has sunk its teeth into the executive and now our judicial system, the legislature was bought long ago.
- Insightful, on 02/28/2008, -2/+16A must listen: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?story ...
NPR asks "Nearly two decades after the worst spill in U.S. history, has the Sound recovered?"
The segment described an experiment where school children collected samples of water around various places around the sound. You will have to listen to the program to have a feel of literally how foul the place still is. The program made me wondere why the punitive damage should not be doubled as Exxon has failed in its clean up effort while making record profits. - Ell3, on 02/28/2008, -16/+5Look at the tone of the article. The Marxists that post articles like this hate the thought that America is a Capitalist country. They hate the concept of corporations and profits. They are all about the redistribution of wealth, and that's really what this story is all about.

- jcm267, on 02/29/2008, -5/+3FTA: Several justices, however, seemed more concerned about the emotional distress of the Exxon executives. "I assume the test is the person has to be high enough that it justifies holding the entire corporation" responsible," Antonin Scalia said, "and I doubt whether a captain is high enough."
- Doesn't this make sense? Anyways, I'm burying this as more ThinkProgress spam.- revisrev, on 02/29/2008, -1/+3Exxon Mobil's oil is in our ocean... what is so hard to understand about them being responsible for it? It makes sense for them to take responsibility for their mistake, their failure that endangered everybody's environment. Remember, a corporation is legally a person, so, personal responsibility.
- UltramegaOK, on 02/29/2008, -1/+5You don't believe that a company like Exxon has muscle with politicians? Really?
This company posted a profit of 40.61 billion dollars in 2007 (or nearly $1,300 per second).
Judge Roberts is doing what Bush brought him in to do. To keep his corporate bias views in place long after he is out of office.
Remember, the Chief Justice is a LIFE TERM. This means that we're stuck with him until he dies in office, chooses to retire, or is impeached by the House of Representatives and convicted by the Senate.
The effects of Bush's administration will be felt for MANY years to come.- revisrev, on 02/29/2008, -1/+1Congress has the power to impeach and remove federal judges. I say investigate his ties and if there is a conflict of interest impeach his ass.
- reinventit, on 02/29/2008, -2/+1Be sure and note that ell3 is a government worker who appears to be a spoiled little girl with little real world experience and not an original thought in her little head. spoon fed propaganda from mommy and daddy blooming turds like a family tradition. I'd like to see her in g-bay torturing other humans... because that is truly what her rotten heart desires... to have others suffer and be tortured so she and her mommy can be free to shop for goods produced by child laborers. When children blog....
- Joneth, on 02/29/2008, -4/+1What really sucks is that any money they're forced to pay is just going to translate to even higher gas prices for us.
- chase001, on 02/29/2008, -2/+4Great. So now Exxon controls the White House, the Supreme Court and probably most of Congress.
- SpickSlayer, on 02/29/2008, -2/+1Good man. Big business is an important part of our country, and we need to protect it. If poor people have a problem with that *****, they should get jobs.
- moontime, on 02/29/2008, -1/+2Seems like its a little too late. They should have paid years ago.
