- diggeradoo, on 03/16/2008, -8/+116"When we endorsed Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination Jan. 27, we said we had formed our opinions of him during 12 years of scrutiny. We concluded that the professional judgment and personal decency with which he has managed himself and his ambition distinguish him.
Nothing Obama said in our editorial board room Friday diminishes that verdict." - digitaldoodler, on 03/16/2008, -5/+88I hope Hillary realizes that she needs to be a lot more open. Obama was willing to answer every single question, and he's already released his tax returns. You'd think that Hillary would realize that she'd need to do the same soon.
Then again, do robots bent on world domination have common sense? - JasonHears, on 03/16/2008, -14/+74Obama amazes me more every day! That guy is one upstanding politician if I've ever seen one (and I haven't really ever seen one)... Go Obama!
- inactive, on 03/16/2008, -9/+48I like this Obama fellow.
- ARC72, on 03/16/2008, -5/+43Barack Obama now has spoken about his ties to Tony Rezko in uncommon detail. That's a standard for candor by which other presidential candidates facing serious inquiries now can be judged.
- chadandcole, on 03/16/2008, -8/+44I love this guy! I hope everyone can rise above this political banter and see that this man can do great things for this country!
- argaen21, on 03/16/2008, -4/+28At least he does it. You won't EVER, EVER see Billary or Mccain or any republican be this open and honest about their dealings (and failures). Big props for him.
- ARC72, on 03/16/2008, -3/+27It just seems a little odd you know; the press was crying for so long for Obama to "come clean" on Rezko, he spends a couple hours confirming what everyone already knew, and now they say everything's cool. Sounds like they (the press) are finally admitting that there never really was a story in the first place.
- JasonHears, on 03/16/2008, -4/+23He says at the end that he just didn't realize the best way to deal with this issue, and he erred on the side of caution, and just never talked about it. Now that he feels its a serious question that people want to know they can trust him, he's dealing with it. On the second question, it is nothing new. But it appears that he was able to more clearly articulate his association, and to satisfactorily answer any outstanding questions the reporters had of him. If there was anything new in this, that could have been potentially damning for Obama, we would be hearing about it.
- actorboy, on 03/16/2008, -5/+23Interestingly, a reporter from the Chicago Tribune was on CNN at least a month ago saying they had been following this for some time they had found no evidence suggesting illegal activity between Obama and Rezko. Of course, CNN kept running the question of illegal activity without repeating the Tribune's opinion that nothing was there. Pretty sad, really -- going with the negative supposition but ignoring the positive.
- actorboy, on 03/16/2008, -4/+22Digg submission (not mine) linking to the entire transcript of the Obama interview: http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Transcript_Barac ...
- DeadFox1, on 03/16/2008, -6/+23Your typical Washington politician doesn't do stuff like this... especially when he/(SHE) has something to hide.
- franklymister, on 03/16/2008, -7/+24Looks like he's being incredibly honest about this.
Now will Hillary do the same about her own, far shadier dealings?
P.S. - What's Hillary herself doing in this photo with Rezko? http://bp1.blogger.com/_yUBKoGS61qE/R5n7gD8-MTI/AA ... - rz8472, on 03/16/2008, -2/+17She hasn't revealed all the earmarks she proposed in the Senate either, and refuses to do so. Both McCain and Obama have.
- DeadFox1, on 03/16/2008, -2/+12big HUGE props for him.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -5/+14I can tell just by your username that you'll never come here and print a favorable word about him either.
- dinot, on 03/16/2008, -8/+14No. Call me when you release YOUR tax and financial statements, religious associations of you and your friends and family, your blood type, and every single comment you've ever made on the internet. This way we can prove you are who you say you are.
See how stupid this is? - skinkaid, on 03/16/2008, -0/+6She has also failed to release her operating instructions and warranty.
- LordVance, on 03/16/2008, -3/+9How many ***** times do you have to post the same link in the same article?
Look - I can play copy-paste too!
"Do you go to church of any kind? If so, do you really think what your spiritual leader says represent how you actually feel all the time? That's not to say I entirely like where Rev. Wright is coming from; at the same time though...
"When asked to respond, Obama noted that he disagreed with Wright's comments and stated "Here is what happens when you just cherry-pick statements from a guy who had a 40-year career as a pastor. There are times when people say things that are just wrong. But I think it's important to judge me on what I've said in the past and what I believe." - PerfectTommy, on 03/16/2008, -13/+19Dear Mrs. Clinton,
Stop tearing our party apart. Enough is enough, you lost, please immediatly withdraw from the 2008 Presidential Race.
Sincerely,
Everyone
The Entire US Population - 0xception, on 03/16/2008, -2/+8when did he lie? source?
- 0xception, on 03/16/2008, -2/+7His wife and his total income for 2006 was 983,826 half of that was wages from their job and the other half from investments. Now that's relatively low for any politician or family of very high ranking lawyers. estimates of Clinton's income are around 5-12 million a year. now i'm only going off of what i've read from estimates from back in 1999, 2000, and then some estimated dealings the Clinton's have made in terms of investments. but the problem is neither Clinton's or McCain's have release their returns so we have no idea where their money is coming from...
- horizonsonfire, on 03/16/2008, -2/+7Please. I despise Hillary as much as the rest of digg, but this is ridiculous. At dinners with presidents and ex-presidents, everyone gets to take their picture with the President and first lady. I have a picture of my parents standing with George H.W. Bush and his wife, but that doesn't imply any kind of relationship.
- LordVance, on 03/16/2008, -0/+4Ahhh... did you read where I said: "Look - I can play copy-paste too!" If so, that's not much of an insight there is it?
- arcticblue, on 03/16/2008, -2/+6Oh my god dude. Shut the ***** up and stop spamming.
- 0xception, on 03/16/2008, -1/+5STFU please... your belittling the horrible things that the KKK were apart of.
- avidlinuxuser, on 03/16/2008, -3/+7I have friends I meet with every day, and I'm not aware of half the stuff they do when I'm not around. You expect Obama to be aware of what people he meets over breakfast 5 times a year are doing. As for the rest, that's unimportant. Most of the our government officials' pastors likely held racist ideologies in the past especially those coming from souther protestant background.
As for his wife's comment, can you truly say that we have done anything great in the past 20 years? Tearing down the soviet union was great and all, but our efforts led to funding Islamic fundamentalists. Intervening in the conflicts surrounding serbia was great, but it seems there isn't a real good side in the conflicts. They each house sins that could be considered unforgivable. As to domestic policy, it seems the vitriol surrounding politics has only increased. If she's saying she's proud because voters are backing someone who does not engage in such practices and believes in unity, I could see how a case could be made that she is proud for the first time in her adult life. Hint: She was 18 in 1982. You know the beginning of the Reagan era. - inactive, on 03/16/2008, -7/+11Meanwhile, Hillary's tax returns and Whitewater crap are pretty much secret to you little people (channeling Leona Helmsley),
Vince Foster would say "Hi!" if he were still alive. - arcticblue, on 03/16/2008, -1/+5For one, I'm not an Obama supporter. Actually, I don't even live in the States so don't start talking like you know me. You don't. And yes, repeatedly posting the same links over and over again is spamming. You're entitled to your opinion, but you have posted it WAY too many times.
- 0xception, on 03/16/2008, -2/+6at this point your just talking to yourself... might as well replace your computer with a mirror.
- Spoomeister, on 03/16/2008, -3/+7Ahem. I found this in 3 minutes of web searching:
www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-0704250022apr25,1,3690658.story?coll=chi-newsnationworld-hed
I'd call you, but I doubt you get good reception that far up your own ass. - 0xception, on 03/16/2008, -1/+5There really is no need for me to respond to your comment because you make a fool of yourself for me. but either way... Good question, if obama was white would we still support him? lets see, do you know of another president who is white, extremely charismatic, and was criticized for his religion?
look you can keep your pessimistic cynical world view to yourself, I'm a realist, I know he's not going to change the world by himself, in fact i don't expect him to nor want him to. I've watched Obama's political career back before he entered the US senate. I've always been impressed by him. does he have somewhat of an over hyped fallowing? yes. but those people are not ignorant, at least not anymore then you are. They are just passionate. But if you can point out this truly PERFECT candidate in the race for the US president then please by all means do because i would love to see them. Obama's the best viable candidate in the race by far. is he perfect? NO. does he think he's perfect? NO and that is important. the other VERY important aspect of his campaign has been the dedication to transparency in government... without this the citizans of the nation can not fully hold their government responsible for its actions and corruption and monitor it's actions.
Now you can throw around all your personal ***** about Obama you want, like his pastor, shady people he's meet in the past, his race, his religion, but in the end your just a monkey flinging crap. - skinkaid, on 03/16/2008, -1/+5never heard of him
- inactive, on 03/16/2008, -4/+7What's Bill Clinton doing with both of them???
- RyeBrye, on 03/16/2008, -6/+9"The Entire US Population" is not in the Democratic party.
- beakerwimp, on 03/16/2008, -0/+3ARC72 - I agree with the point you make in your post: "I didn't see anything in either paper that wasn't already common knowledge". One can only wonder: What new information ARE we looking to hear more detail about? I'm skeptical about Obama's detailed explanation so far. It seems sincere, but people like you are raising a lot of heat and doubt about the situation. You are strongly hinting that there are a ton of Rezko-related details and facts that someone like me hasn't even heard about yet. You also imply that the media is holding back on some key facts. Can you provide some details or a link to some? I tried to read yeslovelife's blog post but it was almost incoherent and riddled with hearsay. The facts that you insinuate you have that the rest of us don't have are very intriguing to me. I'll check this post every few days so I can get all the details as you post them. Thanks in advance.
- gothicform, on 03/16/2008, -8/+11Everytime I read one of these stories I think "wow, but he seems too good to be true." Please let him be the real deal! We need more people like him in the world if he really is.
- 0xception, on 03/16/2008, -3/+6welp that had NOTHING to do with the current topic at hand of Rezko... but whatever...
can i ask you, have you ever meet his pastor? other then some comments you've seen on youtube do you have any idea what he's like as a person? have you heard his side/defense of his comments? I'm not defending him, but he's clearly stated in the past that he has not been a mentor to obama, and that he has in no way shaped obama (even though he would have liked to have credit for that) but he's been clear about that BEFORE this whole issue came up.
but even with that i know people who i have been associated with for a long time, and then one day i talk hear something that sounds a bit racist, and it does in fact offend me since my wife is half black/half Hispanic. that doesn't mean i'm never going to be his friend anymore... it simply means my friend has a fault, and i would rather continue to be his friend and try and show him his wrongs and help him see that he's wrong then to run away and say NO NEVER talking to him again. - Ranvier, on 03/16/2008, -0/+3He said when he was in the pews, he did not hear the types of words that were spoken by his pastor, and had he heard such words, he would have left the church. What a bad guy right?
His wife was proud of all the participation in the election, that comment was taken out of context. How horrible!
Anything else, chief? - MJDub, on 03/16/2008, -1/+4Ask Bender.

- inactive, on 03/16/2008, -0/+2Where are Mrs. Clinton's tax returns?
- jakkyl, on 03/16/2008, -1/+3EXACTLY! very good observation and point.....
- nicktx, on 03/16/2008, -0/+2From Wikipedia: There have been three official investigations into Foster's death, all of which concluded that he committed suicide.[14]
The first was by the United States Park Police in 1993, in whose jurisdiction the original investigation fell. Due to Foster's position in the White House, the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted in the investigation. Investigations by a coroner and Independent Counsel Robert B. Fiske, in a 58-page report released in 1994, also concluded that Foster had committed suicide.[9] Conspiracy theories of a cover-up still persisted. After a three-year investigation, Whitewater independent counsel Kenneth Starr[15][16] released a report in 1997 also concluding that the death was a suicide.[9]
In addition, two investigations by the U.S. Congress also found that Foster committed suicide.[9] - foreignwarren, on 03/16/2008, -1/+3meanwhile Billary keeps lying about her foreign relations experience (and just about everything else) but check out what Factcheck.org says about her claims....
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Hillary_s_foreig ... - Railz, on 03/16/2008, -1/+3You talk of ***** then you support Clinton.
Well you are from Cali, so its forgivable. - hamobu, on 03/16/2008, -2/+4nicktx, you say that Obama is only not receiving scrutiny that everyone else receives. I do not remember this much ballyhoo during the whole Clinton Kazahstan uranium fiasco. Let's not even talk about all those other earlier Clinton scandals.
As for what Obama's wife and minister said, it pails in comparison to some things that John McCain himself has said. John McCain is always bashing "Islamofascism" - which is in line with people who endorse him and who claim that USA is at war with Islam. You will not hear much from the media about this, But the comment from Obama's wife (which is probably just a faux pas on her part) will play repeatedly for many months to come. - usyankee, on 03/16/2008, -2/+4We do need to be reminded in this sudden ideology of perfection, life is not lived in a vacuum. We all have someone that is connected to us in some way that has some lapses in judgment.
- farvar, on 03/16/2008, -1/+3I love the two republicans above spouting typical 'hes a communist' crap. Do you have any idea at all of what you're talking about? Both what communism is and what these politicians want to do?
