And you thought Cheney's deeds were simple incompetence or mistaken policy? Not a chance. They're out to wreck everything so they can ascend, whole cloth, to heaven. If that isn't the very definition of [religious-fundamentalist] terrorism, I don't know what is. - SeethisPass, on 10/10/2007, -6/+33I wonder how blatant a conspiracy has to be before it isn't considered a theory.
Government insists that you have no right to privacy. They must have none either and for far better reasons. - DrScott, on 10/10/2007, -2/+28Er, PFNAC, anyone?

I thought it was quite clear.

states,
• we need to increase defense spending significantly if we are to carry out our global
responsibilities today and modernize our armed forces for the future;
• we need to strengthen our ties to democratic allies and to challenge regimes hostile to our interests and values;
• we need to promote the cause of political and economic freedom abroad;
• we need to accept responsibility for America's unique role in preserving and extending an international order friendly to our security, our prosperity, and our principles.

Sounds like Cheney will fit right in! Relax, conspiracy theorists, he's just sharing his favorite techniques for ensuring absolute secrecy. - cterryr2, on 10/10/2007, -15/+36Cheney IS Darth Vader! BE AFRAID! Religious FREAKS will kill us all!

- TopherT, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18Dick Cheney is a public figure, he is accountable in his dealings to the United States sovereign, the people of the United States. Transparency of governance is the first thing to go when democracy is subverted.
- physphd, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18Not quite. As a public servant he took an oath of office. His allegiance to any extra-governmental groups with incompatible interests is a violation of that oath.

These reasonable-sounding doctrines are conservative code for corporate protectionism at the expense of free enterprise, military adventurism, and giving Socrates a cup of hemlock. - 2reflective, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15There is no need to be secret. To most people, if they don't see it on CNN it never happened. That's why the Bilderberg meetings will continue under full media blackout as per usual until enough people sit up and find out what's really happening behind closed doors.

Sounds like it is time to begin writing the Declaration of Independence II. Our FF would be so disappointed with what this country has become. They were able to do what they did without cell phones, internet and other means of instant communication. Apparently we have lost the fire for liberty that burned within them.
- ff1959, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13Big surprise. "Cheney Addresses Fascist-Nazi-Christian Terrorist Organization, Promises Run For World Dictatorship"
- Berkana, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8The sick thing is, Cheney doesn't give a rip about Christians or Christianity. To him and Rove and the other neocon devils, Christians are a flock of sheep to be fleeced for votes and zealous unquestioning support. I'm saying this as a Christian myself; the mentality that Bush's administration is somehow anointed disgusts me. I hope there will be a special Bush and Cheney room in Hell.
Here's a video about their true attitude towards Christians:

Note the sentance on Page 63: "Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor." - LeeMaple, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10This just in, Cheney is an evil douchebag.... - EntropyMan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Well, WhiteRaven, let's see what a terrorist does...
Using fear and intimidation to get their way. Check. See the new FISA law they rammed through Congress based on a knowingly false claim of a terrorist attack. See every major terror alert times to legislation they want or bad news they don't.
Using followers who believe they're on a holy mission to kill the [infidels|heathens|muslims|democrats|doctors]. Check. Actually, I don't think Cheney believes in an afterlife himself, nor even a God. But he's sure using people who do. (the 'They' in my first post refers to LaHaye's crowd -- Cheney merely wants power.)
Lying, cheating, murdering innocents. Check. See Iraq, Iran.
If Cheney really believed he was helping this country, priority #1 would be Afghanistan, where the terrorists are still hiding out, where warlords are growing 90% of the world's poppies for opium that is killing more Americans each year than a dozen 9/11s and ruining more lives than a thousand of the same.
And you think I'm crazy. Right. Let's just waste valuable blood and treasure taking out a two-bit dictator who thumbed his nose at his former masters. - parithes, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10I am both a Christan and Conservative and I find this going against my values. This is an elitist attitude that does not belong in any political party. There should be no secret political organization like this. I don't like the neo-stalinist references to this being some Christian-Israel conspiracy. It is an elitist group that annoys people on both sides of the political spectrum.

As said in the *second paragraph* "Council for National Policy, a group whose self-described mission is to promote 'a free-enterprise system, a strong national defense and support for traditional Western values."
Never mind... I realize now that you were indeed pulling our leg. May I have it back? - lukifer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8So Cheney's in the Illuminati? Old news.
- bctrainers, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It isn't all so ultra-secret now.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Okay...I'm a *big* anti-secret society guy...so I can understand the "OMG SKULL AND BONES" crowd. But at the same time, this is a private organization that has every right to stay completely private...as I'm a big privacy guy, too. It scares me that Lahey (I've read the whole Left Behind series, and like it, as works of suspenseful fiction) is talking to Cheney about policy. I'm a Christian and I think that, especially under Christ's doctrine, religion has no place in government. It may guide politicians on how to live their lives, but it should not make its way into policy...which should be neutral.
I'm rambling now, but the whole point is: a bunch of post-apocalyptic, fundamentalist Christians giving policy advice scares the Hell out of me. I support their right to have private, confidential membership and meetings...but I'm not so sure if that should extend to when they're meeting with government officials.
Color me confused. - zanzzz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Check your prescription.
- fender06, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6i'm not excusing the acts and attitudes of the very vocal minority (or it may even be a majority) of christians that sieg heil bush at every chance, but to say everyone associated with christianity does it is clearly untrue, and even though hopefully everyone will realize this stereotype, its still damaging. I'm LDS (mormon) and i personally believe that bush and co. shouldnt just be impeached, but indicted. obviously my opinion is not the most common of christian people (yes, mormons are christian, please release our proper name is the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints) but that doesnt mean everyone who believes in a christian god is an ignorant proletarian, or even worse, supporting of our current president
- zanzzz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Meat!? And you are calling him an ass?
- ff1959, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5You are going to be SO targeted by Thompson's goons. You cannot talk about revolution and freedom in the land of the free.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Sounds like you're the one on herb. It's OK, in a Constitutional Republic, we respect the voice of the village idiot as much as we respect the voice of anyone else.
- .Steven, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8Sooooo secret that the guy who wrote it didn't get in a car crash before going to press?
- HaywoodGiablomi, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Nice. Get a ***** grip? Get a ***** clue. You call this 6.5 year ***** "leadership?" I call it looting the treasury with a bunch of your pals because: a. you're greedy, overly pampered sociopaths who don't give a rat-***** about the bottom 95% of America, and, b. you can. I got a real kick out of you telling the "opposition" to "tone down the rhetoric" and "get a little perspective." I just wish I could think of a good example of an issue which has been over-hyped and over-blown by the neocons for all the wrong reasons. You know something they might, I dunno, claim threatens the very foundation of our core principles; even our very existence as a nation. Something that gets pulled out of the hat anytime there's an election, a drop in popularity, or the possibility that a true threat or act -- usually THEIRS -- will actually harm the country and its citizens... Nope. Nothing comes to mind just now..
"Don't turn your disagreement" to "hate?" That's ***** classic considering the non-stop open sewer that is the mouth of every right-wing shock-jock and a good chunk of their punditry. Don't even frickin' get me started on Ann Coulter or Michael "The Weiner" Savage. Nice to see you also throw down the ultimate attempt to shout down your opposition: call them "loony as any cult member." AKA: tinfoil hatters; moonbats -- there's a stupid *****' moniker; and my all-time favorite: "conspiracy theorists!" Because, what? Conspiracies aren't for real? Sure. I suppose neither were Iran-Contra or Watergate. Although it may not be fair or accurate to say that these add up to show the true respect these so-called conservatives have for the law. These are just a couple of the ones for which they've been caught.
As far as your last order: no name calling of the neocons without proof. ***** you. They do it all the time. So do their supporters and their pundits. And besides, if you're part of the 30% that believes these turds can do / have done no wrong, it's pointless for me or anyone to spend the evening scouring the web to convince you. I'm done trying to change the minds of the die-hards -- including those who are friends I've known since the early 80's. From now on you guys can do your own damn research. - zeptobyte, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Why does the group even have a name if they don't use it?

- 2reflective, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Please make fun of FEMA concentration camps and Verichips in as many posts as possible. The more you mention it, the more likely people are to type it into Google. Then they will be in for a shock.
- erasedgod, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Um... Do you realize that Neo-libs are a right-wing group? I didn't think so. Maybe get a dictionary before you bring that crap.
- TheRemoteViewer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Gee, what could they be discussing right now that would involve the presence of our neo-con vice-president? I dunno, I'm stumped. It's not like we're on the brink of war with Iran or anything.
