- ganjadude4391, on 10/12/2007, -10/+71so he wants all the nice pictures of him and how safe baghdad is but he doesnot want to actually talk to the press there... such a shame
we the american people (well 3/4 of us ) apologize for our douchebag government. They will be gone soon - TangerineDream, on 10/12/2007, -6/+48Cheney is pure concentrated evil. CEO of large oil conglomerate made Vice President of the USA, granted contracts to build up Iraq to his old company, to build guantanamo bay detention center, to build emergency jails for illegal immigrants.... Something is very wrong
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+36Cheney remembers well the Nixon-era Watergate scandal where the Washington Post published articles and the White House repeatedly denied their claims. The acts of the Bush administration make Watergate look like a misdemeanor.
Rent "All the President's Men"---starring Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford and learn how the work of two reporters led to jail terms of several key White House officials, and to the resignation of President Nixon. - ganjadude4391, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21you got a great idea!!! lets give dick cheney to iraq! we dont want him back so manybe they do
OH BTW what you DONT see in the pictures are the 500 armed guards following him and the 4 helicopters in the air the entire time he is there ( a buddy of mine over there told me this)
wonderfull progress my ass - ChristianBk, on 10/12/2007, -5/+23"Kick the Vice Prez out"

Perhaps you missed this part of the linked article:
UPDATE: From a pool report: “Around 5:20 p.m. (local) there was a distant explosion that rattled windows at the building where the VP and the press corps are working today.”
Yeah sounds perfectly safe to me... - Iwantawii, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Cheney is a Dick.
- TSorenson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12"Loose Change" has been debunked time and time again. Take your 9/11 conspiracy theories elsewhere. You do not think that the administration is competent enough to coordinate a war effort, yet you claim that they can pull of the biggest terrorist attack on American soil AND cover it up? I'll give you a hint: the administration is incompetent, and al-Quaeda attacked us on 9/11. Also, writing a coherent sentence isn't that difficult, is it?
- ganjadude4391, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11yeah his parents chouldNOT have given him a better name
***** cheney - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10By the way they enflame the sectarian violence on purpose to keep the war going. British SAS officers were caught dressed as Arabs planting explosives last year. Blackwater kills with impunity men, women and children. Disgusting.
- EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12@lieutenant, you're right about the other companies relative to Haliburton, but that doesn't negate any illegal favors Cheney may have done for his pals.
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Fox isn't "the press," they're the official truth (or "pravda") organ of the Party (GOP).
- ganjadude4391, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13we hold our elected representitives responsible. they answer to us not the other way around or did you forget that. By NOT talking to the press it allows them to paint a picture based on...well pictures but there is no substance behind those pictures.
Cheney walking through a "safe" bagdad is good publicity.
as soon as someone asks "why are you here when over 1/2 of our iraqi elected officials want you out*" it ruins his whole reason for going to iraq
get it?

I really wish this were true. Problem is it's not so much Bush and Cheney but their hundreds of just-as-if-not-more corrupt cronies that will be hanging around in the house, senate, supreme court.... As long as there are the "them dem-oh cratts wants tuh take ur guns n raise ur taxes" folks out there, we won't be rid of Cheney's ilk for a long time.
Not that the democrats are the best, but at least if we get them in office there's a CHANCE for electoral reform and then maybe we can get some true possible decent alternative party candidates. - Disko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@ganjadude4391 "They will be gone soon"
Thats what you guys said last time... - Habemus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8He was not talking about kicking the press out of Iraq, he was talking about kicking the press out of the embassy conference room he was going to use for discussions with Maliki. After a photo op, the press doesn't get to sit around and take notes during high-level negotiations with a foreign government's officials, never have, never will. JESUS CHRIST PEOPLE, are you that THAT STUPID???
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7The business Cheney is concerned with is not business we should be concerned about. Unless we knew, which are beginning to. The more we know, the more we are concerned.
The press follows politicians like Cheney where the average American cannot. Even though I only give the press a 4 or 5 out of 10, it's better than no one paying attention at all. - Azio, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12"we the american people (well 3/4 of us ) apologize for our douchebag government. "
No apology will cover it. We demand a hanging, or at least a nice boquet. - GoingPostal, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Cockroaches don't like the light.
- Leviathan777, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5AHAHAHAHAA AHAA AHAA
AAHAHA AHAHAHA
You so funny.
Did I say funny? I meant *****.
WWII grunts included millions of liberals.
You can bitch about "losing" Vietnam, but you can't hide the fact we were there because if we didn't fight the Commies there, we'd fight them in Kansas. We quit fighting them in Vietnam, they took over for a while, and never once did it threaten US security on a global or domestic basis. Iraq is much the same as Vietnam in this: conservative fearmongering gets our good and brave troops ***** killed and gains us nothing.
Harry Reid? You are a ***** joke. Bush has played into Al Qaeda's hands all along, and now they - the real Al Qaeda No. 2, not the fake ones BushCo captures ever couple of months - was just bragging how well our presence in Iraq serves Al Qaeda.
Maybe when you get out of your mom's basement and, oh, I dunno, read a ***** newspaper, then you'll have something to say. But I doubt it. - hipnotic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@xenoblue: That's THE biggest load of BS I have ever heard. Got any figures to back that up? Till then, I shall claim that I have donated 100% of my income to charity, and also every organ in my body. ( I am currently attached to an artificial heart (donated my heart), lung machine(donated both my lungs), dialysis machine (donated both my kidneys), have no eyes left (donated them), sold my hair and donated the money for charity.
- llbbl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I think it is time to do like the French did with Napoleon and exile our leader(s) on an island somewhere. Would make for a great new reality show. It would make a lot more sense than "Lost", thats for sure.
- gronne, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@xen
The only outlet with the extreme partisian-bias the left has compared to Fox is Air America Radio. I don't know how NBC, CBS and ABC could be considered "left" unless you mean they fact-check things Bush says and don't have "War on Christmas" stories. - LostOnion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5There's not room enough in Hell for both the Devil and Dick Cheney.
- pvliii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't necessarily side with you politically, but I'm definitely with your method. People all sit around and complain. Do something!
- hydratedsquash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@wdoyle
the immigrants & minorities (skill color, sexual orientation) get more rights then whites,
you make it sound like we are better, i thought everyone was equal. - CBTF, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think he was being sarcastic.
- EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10I'm actually a bit nervous about this trip. BushCo is going down in flames, but it still has so much power to do harm.
When Cheney wants the Press under wraps, does a tour of our allies in the region, and announces in advance that his last stop will be to visit the USS Gulf of Tonkin, stationed near Iran, I get a little worried.
(that's not the name of the ship, btw, but that's what I'm worried about -- a few stray missiles that allegedly come from Iran...) - EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@xenoblue, simply put, you lie. Cheney is a multi-millionaire. He continues to own stock in Halliburton, last I heard.
@YZBot, Cheney has been accused of improperly interfering with no-bid contracts. I didn't make it up.
As for "what have I done," I just donated the maximum allowed to Mike Gravel's campaign. Thanks for asking. - JimDinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2OK we sit here in our chairs and talk all the ***** we want about Bush/Cheney but what is anyone doing about it? Are you calling your reps? Are you calling/emailing the newspapers and asking why there isn't any coverage about people wanting the impeachment proceedings that the grassroots organizations are working on? No not a ***** thing is being done,we are just sitting here with our thumbs up our asses crying like ***** babies. When will people get off their asses and do something, wanna help? digg this up and flood CNN with your emails.Lets TRY to do something for ***** sake.
http://digg.com/political_opinion/Tell_CNN_you_want_Bush_Cheney_impeached
Go here and do something http://digg.com/political_opinion/It_doesn_t_matter_what_rock_at_the_White_House_we_turn_over_There_s_nasty this ***** needs to change and change now,get them out of office,NOW. I am done with my rant, not that it did any good, this will be buried so deep. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4***** the press.
- terdblossom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The Dark Sith Lord Cheney demands it!
- NotAChickenHawk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Blows me away how Cheney, having never served in the military, can advocate our troops staying in Iraq, when he himself is unable to muster up the courage to show up there except on unnanounced, secret visits.
And then he goes and blasts their congress for taking a 2 month vacation. What, will they be staying at the same Club Med as *our* Congress during their summer recess? Of course, the Iraqi government has a lot of urgent issues to deal with. But so does ours. Oh, and since in his capacity as Vice President, he is President of the Senate, will he be partaking in the Senate's summer recess too? - nagaisu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Time broke the story about the emails concerning Cheney greasing contracts for Haliburton a while ago.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1228622,00.html - JimDinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thank You.
- Niteryder, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The Press ought to side with the people and kick this squat little creep out of OUR government for good!
- Zarchon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3He said they get MORE rights. How does that make it sound like we are better? I live in California and we had a protest for illegal immigrants rights. Why weren't they arressted? They are here ilegally! How come those people can break the law and not be deported when I can't even roll a stop sign at 1 mile an hour without getting a ticket? I don't see this as one group being better than another. I see it as one group is favored over another. I want the laws enforced across the board. I want police to ticket other members of the police force when they catch them speeding. I want the little cards that policeman are given to hand out to family members (usually 2 cards - Orange County Police Dept. Ca.) so that these 2 chosen people also no longer get traffic tickets. I want illegal aliens arrested and deported. I want the police to be able ask for a persons I.D. even if they are Mexican. They ask me for mine on occasion and when I don't produce it fast enough they inform me not having I.D. is against the law. I want equality for all, not just a few.
- AzBats, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3spam in a username - these marketing peeps are getting more and more desperate for eyeballs
Do you believe your own BS or is it just to bring attention to your advert/name? - YZBot, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Yes, yes they are.
- mattdono, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9There may be plenty of things to criticize Cheney for, but closing a press conference/photo op (even with a curt statement) isn't something to get your nose in a twist over.
- vguard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What is really important about this story is what it says about the state of affairs over there. If you read between the lines, it's pretty obvious that things are going to hell
- TBagwell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I think its safe to say wdoyle is a *****' moron.
- jlhoben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just buy the press, just like in America.
- blaze4metal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Source?

Don't forget gay marriage and abortion. Sorry, "gay murridge and aburshen". - skage482, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@darkfox
if the folks on digg care more about bringing the troops home from iraq than uselessly highlighting every attempt at positive spin in iraq, is that something to condemn?
and for the record, i fail to see how being stubborn about trying to end the war is a reason why the war hasn't ended. - DiggIz4Kids, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thinkprogress is not spam. It is one of the Soros owned propaganda machines used to take over the Democrat Party.
If I were a Democrat I would be terribly pissed off that my representatives cared more about what Soros wants than what I want. Think about it. - pvliii, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2You're all just going to believe it without a video or audio clip? No digg till there's proof.
- endtyranny, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Not surprised he didn't want to talk to the press, he's saving his breath for Rush Limbaugh.
