Cheney Impeachment Picks Up Steam -- HR333 Now Has Three Co-Sponsors!
baltimoresun.com — Congressman Albert Wynn of Maryland joins representatives William Lacy Clay, Jr. of Missouri and Jan Schakowsky of Illinois as a co-sponsor of the articles of impeachment filed against Cheney on April 24. Wynn calls Cheney "the architect of the Administration's deception about the war". Why haven't you heard about this on the nightly news?

Because freedom of the press, freedom of speech and recognition of your individual value to be heard is being violently attacked by media monopolies with a pyramaid command structure.
They purposely do not deliver news that is contrary to their leaders' agendas. They use craftiness and persuasion to attack patriots including veterans of honor, army generals returned from battle, physicists, scientists and citizens of great contribution. They use personalities skilled in mud throwing and personal jabs to discredit news they do not want you to consider. They even employ spammers to bury newsworthy stories on Digg.com.
Your tax dollars are also being used to dumb down necessary political discourse and to reduce issues of enormous consequences to naught.
Three co-sponsors to impeach the vice president of the United States and the people don't know about it? Now that's a conspiracy!
This blatant manipulation of the American people must not be tolerated by citizens of conscience. - slicedoranges, on 10/11/2007, -9/+30I never see any arguments telling us why Bush is great, just conservatives telling us how gay we are.
- scotticus, on 10/11/2007, -11/+1@readthis: it could also be because this bill is in its infancy, and there are many, many important motions which you don't hear about until just before or just after a major vote happens.
It could also be that news organizations don't see this going anywhere because they know there isn't enough support.

I was watching a pbs documentary on mormons a while ago, and they talked about a newspaper who wrote an article that spoke ill of the mormons so the local mormon leader came with his thugs and "messed up the place." The townsfolk were so upset that they kicked out all the mormons.
This story has nothing to do with mormans. The townsfolk were upset because their free and open press was in jeopardy so they banished the ones who were responsible.
I just wished society still felt this way... - Bamont, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1"They purposely do not deliver news that is contrary to their leaders' agendas."
That is qutie possibly one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. I could make a LONG list of all the anti-Bush stories that the AP has written, but unfortunately, I'm not sure I have time to go over every single one.
The reason why this kind of ***** doesn't end up on the nightly news is because until the Articles of Impeachment are picked up by the MAJORITY, nobody (except for liberal net-goers) gives a damn. Articles of impeachment do not equal impeachment, and impeachment does not equal removal from office - even though most Diggsters like to think so. - KhyberPass, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1But in a heartwarming study, researchers confirm that Digg dhimmis still celebrate Mothers' Day by playing with their Barbie Dolls.

- maxa, on 10/11/2007, -3/+35Sponsors are what happens to a bill before it gets brought to the floor. Most bills only have one or two sponsors before they are brought to the floor. It means that so far, three congresspeople are willing to fight to bring this bill to the floor so it can be voted on.
Having three sponsors means that these congresspeople are sticking their necks out to take up this issue. It's an unusual amount of support for a bill. - mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5Yeah that's what I was thinking.. sponsors only strengthen a bill's introduction into the congress debates, so you've got 4 people arguing their point rather than 1.
- jmpeagle, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10you need only 1/2 of the House to Impeach but you need 2/3 of the Senate to remove from office.
- floorman56, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2these congresspeople are sticking their necks out to take up this issue
Why are they "sticking their necks out"? I thought this is something that most people wanted?
If they are "sticking their necks out" Then that means there isn't support for it. - Bamont, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2"Having three sponsors means that these congresspeople are sticking their necks out to take up this issue. It's an unusual amount of support for a bill."
No it's not - with as much radicalism that exists in Congress (on both sides) and the disdain most Democrats have for the Bush administration, it's no surprise.

Opinions both for and against are sought.- zweben, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6I just sent a message through there:
Vice President Cheney is a man who has made it clear that he will do whatever it takes to forward his radical and reckless agenda. This includes presenting intelligence in a false light to gain support for a war that would, if introduced in an honest way, face much greater opposition. We are now in a highly unpopular occupation as a result of this lie, after a war which has now taken the lives of thousands of soldiers and countless Iraqis, including many innocent civilians, in exchange for the so far undelivered and increasingly implausible promise of a stable democracy in Iraq.
For too long, Cheney, Bush and the rest of the current administration have been allowed to pass bill after bill, resolution after resolution and signing statement after signing statement that promise protection in exchange for civil liberties; Civil liberties that the constitution guarantees us. We are promised that these are just measures to protect us from terrorists, yet their definition of a terrorist is so vague that anyone the administration sees as a threat, American citizen or not, even a political dissenter, could be declared an enemy combatant and be sent off to a military prison indefinitely, without habeas corpus. This is an unacceptable amount of unbalanced power. It is highly frightening that it has been allowed to go this far already; These radical changes to our constitutional republic threaten our security more than any terrorist could ever dream of, by slowly moving the power away from the people and into the hands of an opaque federal government.
The country cannot survive if we allow such essential liberties to be exchanged for protection. Benjamin Franklin once said "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Truer words have never been spoken, and I refuse to give up our civil liberties and freedoms which are the foundation of this country. We must make our leaders accountable for their misdeeds. The best place to start this is with the impeachment of Dick Cheney.
Sound good? I'm kind of tired so hopefully I didn't make any glaring errors.

- TheGroje, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Seeing the number of "get him out" responses, maybe it should be pointed out that impeachment != removing someone from office. Clinton was impeached. Completely. Only the second sitting US president to have had that honor. And he served a full two terms. Nixon, otoh, was not impeached... he dodged that bullet via resignation.
First comes impeachment. Then comes what would most certainly be a lengthy trial by Senate. Then, it would be 2008... and we retire the side. - revolution1x, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8"Cheney impeachment bill gets a 4th co-sponsor"

Am I wrong on this one?- jmpeagle, on 10/11/2007, -5/+5it was lying under oath that got Clinton impeached, which is illegal. Cheney lying to the American public to go to war while morally reprehensible is not illegal as he was never under oath. You have to literally break a law to be impeached.
- robdazomba, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5jmpeagle, Clinton lied under oath being asked questions of an unprecedented personal nature about his sex life that nobody should be asking a president, and it was only happening because we had a Republican congress out to corner the guy on anything they could find. I don't condone lying, especially under oath, but this ceaseless drumbeat from the right-wingers out there that Clinton just flat-out lied ignores the context. The context was a political witch hunt which will go down in the history books as one of the most disgraceful moments in American history. It should NOT have been happening in the first place. I was not happy with Clinton's actions, but he was doing what most of us would have done--countering one wrong with another and it's very hard to condemn the man for that.
And you know, given the immorality and outright greed and corruption and lies we've seen from Bush and his cronies, I'd say it high time you all drop the whole Clinton thing. One Clinton lie versus a mountain of Bush lies and deceptions. I mean, seriously, WTF? Do you righties have no perspective? - GlenLeafJr, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4he was asked questions about his sex life because he was on trial for sexual harassment.

But now lying is okay as long as it's "legal?"
And anyway, try war profiteering, dumbass. Cheney is still earning money from some of the companies contracted to do work in Iraq and was doing other similarly unhanded activities prior to his vice-presidency. That's not only a disgrace but it's illegal and immoral as well.
