- C0leBurns, on 12/29/2008, -15/+305Why would anyone support Caroline Kennedy for Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat? Because she heard a lot of political talk around the dinner table? If that's the case, maybe Governor Patterson should appoint Chelsea Clinton or Amy Carter? Neither of them are from New York but Hillary Clinton wasn't either.
Meanwhile, Western and Central New York rust away while its main export is skilled college-educated young men and women. - inactive, on 12/30/2008, -35/+299Any Democrat who criticized Palin but supports this train wreck of a Kennedy is a complete Koolaid-drinking fool.
- goleopards1, on 12/30/2008, -19/+212Every person who ever dugg a 'Sarah Palin is a bimbo' story needs to digg this up!
- Steve9191, on 12/30/2008, -6/+173"OMG" she said "you know" 142 times? You know...thats like a lot.
- Bowster, on 12/29/2008, -46/+187Did you ever count how many times Obama says "uh" while he speaks?
Ms. Kennedy has nothing on him! - Nekura20x6, on 12/30/2008, -7/+128I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some, people out there in our nation don't have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future.
- jbcorny, on 12/30/2008, -3/+115i'm over political dynasties.
- WhiskeyWrites, on 12/29/2008, -9/+102In a way I feel bad for her, she is obviously incredibly unqualified and unprepared and shouldn't be out there for this seat at all. If her name hadn't been Kennedy no one would be paying attention to her, and at least she would only have to be embarrassingly under qualified in front of a much smaller audience. I wonder how much prodding Uncle Ted had to do to get her to try this?
- zerohelix, on 12/29/2008, -41/+128dumb blonde
- Chooxo, on 12/30/2008, -5/+92To her credit, I do indeed know.
- AmnesiacJack, on 12/30/2008, -2/+79Can we please keep these family dynasties OUT of power? It doesn't make any sense to me from a democratic perspective to keep the same blood and the same people in power for so long! Is it really so hard for the average voter to do some research and not just vote on name power alone?
I know this issue is different but still, come on people... - DrVic, on 12/30/2008, -7/+65Chowdah!
- northwatuppa, on 12/29/2008, -29/+85Yeah, but between the "uh"s he has a lot of sensible things to say.
"You know" is valley girl stuff and it is a fairly reliable indicator of an empty mind. "Uh" is different.
There are a surprising number of public figures of varying degrees of intelligence and expertise, including many people in journalism, who clutter their speech with such things---some of them badly. BTW, George W. does a lot of that uhhhhhh ... - inactive, on 12/30/2008, -6/+62And we all though Sarah Palin was woefully under qualified.
Caroline is nothing more that the figure head of a fading dynasty. It would be a sham for Patterson to appoint her. - inactive, on 12/30/2008, -16/+68Caroline Kennedy lives on a plane of existence that is so high above the rest of us that I'm amazed she even speaks English, much less speaks it properly. She would be an asset in the Senate in that she would vote straight down the party line. It would be like having a machine that spits out democrat votes without fail. She wouldn't author any significant legislation, but that's OK with dems.
- inactive, on 12/29/2008, -38/+88We always knew Caroline Schlossberg was an aging debutant and trust fund child but now she is revealed to have an 6th grade command of the issues. The audacity it takes to campaign in public and step ahead of people with a lifetime in government is breathtaking! It is Paterson's choice to elevate this retard or not. I can't wait to see how this turns out. @C0leburns you are right about central New York. The same could be said for many decaying liberal states in the east. It is time for the yahoos in the city to be held to account.
- TrevorBelmont, on 12/30/2008, -0/+43Take a public speaking class. One of the first things they'll do is try to beat the "uh"s "like"s and "you know"s out of you.
- ABadPerson, on 12/30/2008, -0/+41I know!
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -4/+43She's liberal as am I, but I'm not about to go around supporting anybody from my proverbial "team".
Frankly, I'm sick of these American dynasties. The Kennedy's have been one of the better ones, but still, they are no good. It's shameful that these super families live and operate in the same manner as French aristocrats or Saudi princes. - LucFerris, on 12/30/2008, -2/+41We are, we are.
- chanop, on 12/30/2008, -5/+43You've obviously never seen "Legally blonde"
- oldhick, on 12/30/2008, -4/+41It amazes me that she was even being considered. She has no record of public service and has yet to qualify herself as a candidate by presenting any actual legislative agenda. I see some in their comments comparing her to Palin but (and I never ever thought I'd say this) at least Plain had 'some' experience from being a mayor and a governor. Than I see people compare her to Obama and again I fail to see the significance of that comparison either. Obama worked as a community organizer which is a tough and not a very rewarding job to take on.
As Brian Wilson once sang, "Oh, caroline no" - korvan504521, on 12/30/2008, -6/+38I'm working in niagara falls at the moment, and western new york is definetly in the dumps. The taxes are ludicrously high here as well, and they want to RAISE them even more.
Never thought I'd miss Washington state's taxes, but I can't wait to move back there. - AChopra, on 12/30/2008, -3/+33Dumb isn't the right word here, inarticulate would do her much better. This quality is needed for any political career and it seems as if she does not possess it.
- studcopter, on 12/30/2008, -3/+33"I'd be annoyed too if I had to deal with the leftist wacko Couric. But, the problem is that some people in America listen to Couric (for some weird reason)...and Palin needed to reach those poor souls." -JimmySpaza
"Palin is intelligent, good looking, amiable, and experienced." -JimmySpaza
"The Democrats just got their rear ends kicked by a beautiful, successful woman who can handle family and business at the same time. And she knows how to handle firearms to boot. :-) Contrast this woman to the tired, whiny, ugly communist Hillary." -JimmySpaza
Pot? Kettle. Kettle? Pot.
Red Kool-Aid tastes exactly the same as Blue Kool-Aid, Jimmy. - jthei, on 12/30/2008, -0/+29OMG You Guys!
- kigcoopa84, on 12/30/2008, -32/+61I think she said it more times in that one interview than Sara Palin said in the entire election. This won't even make the front page, or huffinton for that matter
- ericdano, on 12/30/2008, -19/+48At least Palin was elected a couple of times to something by people. Kennedy? Ha! There is no comparison. Kennedy fails to even come close to Palin.
- thelastcivilian, on 12/30/2008, -3/+32Boom. Front page.
- PeanutCheeseBar, on 12/30/2008, -8/+36Like, you guys are TOTALLY being too mean to her, you know?
- bundwallah, on 12/30/2008, -5/+33A famous name, yet an empty shell.
- pnmoore, on 12/30/2008, -0/+27Totally!
- lowbot, on 12/30/2008, -0/+27Im so sick of celebrity culture. This woman has no political experience. If she's so interested in politics then why hasnt she run for anything? Like a municipal position or state government position? I dont want the new senator to be someone who hasnt held a seat before. Patterson needs to start taking this seriously and the newspapers have to stop feeding celebrities all this attention.
- Xviper78, on 12/30/2008, -1/+26Your comment is a disgrace to the English language.
- PaperKutter, on 12/30/2008, -6/+30Wow she really blew it........I'm a Dem, and I don't mind the Palin comparison one bit here...
- andyb747, on 12/30/2008, -0/+24and "look"
- Nintendesert, on 12/30/2008, -1/+24I read the transcripts from one of her interviews, I thought Drudge was being sarcastic and petty with his headline of "You know... you know... you know... you know... you know..."
It was painful to get through the transcript, she literally speaks like that. - Coven, on 12/30/2008, -7/+30Just like any Republican who supported Palin but criticized Kennedy is a hypocrite, right Jimbo?
- FearlessFreep, on 12/30/2008, -1/+24"Why would anyone support Caroline Kennedy for Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat?"
Because she can bring the Kennedy name and the Kennedy money to the re-election campaign. Those supporting her don't care about her but about what she brings to the party in terms of running for that Senate seat - CaptCarrot, on 12/30/2008, -0/+22Take a Toastmasters course. They'll break you of that habit.
- plarp, on 12/30/2008, -16/+38we all say 'uh'.. even on the news the anchors say 'uh'.. it's a place holder.. take a linguistics class
- yojiffyskippy, on 12/30/2008, -1/+23Uh. no we don't.
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -3/+24She has been watching to many AFL (Australian Football League) Interviews.
top words:
Um
You know
Well
footy
going
hard
Generally used as: Well um you know...going hard (after the) footy. but we were going um well you know untill (something) then um you know we found it hard you know. - LilRabbitFooFoo, on 12/30/2008, -20/+39"decaying liberal states in the east"...are you kidding me? The rest of the nation's "heartland" is filled with low IQ fundamentalist morons who challenge the validity of evolution and science with a straight, yet remarkably bovine, face, and the "big problem" is the occasional trust fund kid from Massachusetts?! Ahem.
The woman could be a doorknob and she'd be a better politician that Bush Jr. - WhiskeyWrites, on 12/30/2008, -8/+26What the ***** does that mean?
- pnmoore, on 12/30/2008, -13/+31You are defending Obama for his "uh's" by saying that President Bush does it too. Not sure fellow Obama fans would like you comparing him to W. Be careful or you are going to get kicked out of the clubhouse...lol
- girldrinkdrunk, on 12/30/2008, -9/+26George Bush rules poorly.
- mcnees287, on 12/30/2008, -3/+20@michelspc
You having internet access - TheEditor1, on 12/30/2008, -1/+18Neither is she, she is being appointed.
- krynnotaur, on 12/30/2008, -1/+17enough with the dynastic familial rule of this nation already. shes not qualified to be a senator because her name is kennedy.
sheesh -
