washingtonpost.com — The collapse of medical care inside America's new network of prisons for foreign detainees. These detainees are not terrorism suspects but asylum seekers and undocumented workers —and they've been deprived of basic health provisions as their numbers swell.

- AlwaysAwake, on 05/12/2008, -1/+4And this is the message you want to send to foreign governments as a model to emulate for treatment of American citizens who happen to be caught in their jails and prisons, for whatever reason. ? So your message then would be that we should stay in our own country ?
- keymanjim2, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1Foreign governments will do as they want with our citizens. And they should if any enter their country illegally or are performing acts that are against their laws. They don't care how we treat their citizens except to garner some kind of political advantage.
There are American citizens jailed in just about every country in the world. It's not like a cold war era movie. We can't trade one of theirs for one of ours because, in reality, they don't want them back.

- AlwaysAwake, on 05/12/2008, -0/+3Just another example of official American disrespect for human life, lack of basic human decency, and the perverse attitudes and behaviors of those pretending to possess "Christian" values. Many will no doubt attack The Washington Post and 60 Minutes for exposing our Government's shameful behavior for all the world to see. Others, frustrated by illegal immigrants, will see this as broadcasting a welcome warning to those they see as our "enemies". The American citizens caught in this cruel system are to many just "collateral damage", an insensitivity akin to psychopaths. Since this is all being done in our name, look in the mirror and ask yourself if you still wish to be silent, and pretend this isn't happening now. Who or what will be there for you, if they come knocking on your door ?
