- emmettgolf, on 03/30/2009, -8/+33The EPA and global warming exist so that we can be taxed.
- inactive, on 03/30/2009, -9/+26We need to stick corks in the orafices of all Democrats and those at the EPA. That will reduce emissions. This is just absurd. Will we get a tax credit if we adjust our rate of breathing?
- Karmashock, on 03/30/2009, -11/+23The democrats are going to lose the rust belt to the republicans... and with it... control of the federal government. We just need to wait two years and then this little circus will be over.

Airline/bus/ship/rail tax
Airport tax
Declaration tax
Port tax
TSA tax - peacelvr, on 03/30/2009, -4/+13One can hope.
- Pssdoff, on 03/31/2009, -0/+9Don't forget the hidden tax of inflation.
- WhiteHatTrick, on 03/31/2009, -4/+12I see no difference in the overall policy of republicans and democrats. The only difference is the republicans have to take it slower because their base isn't begging for a one world government also known as global enslavement.
- DealCracker, on 03/31/2009, -5/+12I just read an article from my electric coop about cap and trade. They estimate that Obama's plan will increase my electric bill by approximately 20%. And were will that extra money I pay go? Will it be used to cut CO2 emissions at my local power plant? Will there be an army of do-gooders planting trees to soak up all that extra CO2? NO! It goes straight to the federal government general fund. This is nothing but a giant new energy tax.
- DanThePainter, on 03/31/2009, -1/+7Only one or two months? Don't we start earning our own money around April or May?
- kemp34, on 03/30/2009, -5/+11You mean "global climate change." Whatever happens to the weather, the wannabe tax men win!
- sheeplescareme, on 03/31/2009, -2/+7and definitely don't google things like "PNAC" or "SPP" either!
- joshstone100, on 03/31/2009, -6/+10The same Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that said the air was safe to breathe @ Ground Zero on 9-11. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/03/11/health/m ...
Go breathe that fresh Ground Zero air…The EPA told me it wasn’t deadly…
Trust them..bwahahahahaa - kurttrail, on 03/31/2009, -1/+4But ya'll can't claim that it's taxation without representation.
- michaelpinto, on 03/31/2009, -2/+5Asthma is a tax:
http://www.webmd.com/asthma/news/20040429/high-car ... - Karmashock, on 03/31/2009, -1/+4You forget how thin a blade these elections ride on. How many battleground elections could have gone EITHER way.
Well.. as well street is being treated with kid glove and the rust belt is being treated like trash... we can expect a some CHANGE there. If the democrats keep this up, they'll poison their position in many of these areas for a generation. - Doxocopa, on 03/31/2009, -5/+8Al Gore has personal stakes on this issue; he's one of the owners of the Chicago Exchange for Carbon credits. So one needs to be very careful on the objectivity of what is written on this subject and presented to the general public.
This is unbealivable, read by yourself, it comes from Canadian press:
http://digg.com/environment/Obama_s_involvement_in ... - Doxocopa, on 03/31/2009, -0/+3Folks.... that's nothing comparing to Lula's Brazil: here we pay a tax and the value added by that same tax will be added to the overal base for the next tax on the product. Oppenheimer et al. discovered the "chain reaction" for Uranium, Brazil leaders have long ago discovered the "chain taxation"!
The average brazilian citizen works from 1-2 month just to pay its taxes... and getting nothing of value in return for it! - ConcernedCanuck, on 03/31/2009, -3/+6Oh and FISA
- ZZeke, on 03/31/2009, -2/+4Technically you're right...but I would claim it anyway, because the congress no longer represents the people.
- kurttrail, on 03/31/2009, -1/+3Only conservatives and only if you totally stop breathing!
- ConcernedCanuck, on 03/31/2009, -10/+12But Obama is behind it so it must be good!
/s
please don't google: ACTA, 2009 budget, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Definitely don't google "The Obama Deception." - LordBacon, on 03/31/2009, -2/+4Agenda 21 from the U.N.
- Karmashock, on 03/31/2009, -5/+7that's sadly true to a point... though mostly because they think they can compromise with the socialists.
It's like compromising with poison... or compromising with cancer... you compromise with that and you lose. - Karmashock, on 04/01/2009, -0/+2yeah, the republicans were acting liked moderate democrats and that's what put us in this position.
Now we have to contend with the REAL full strength version.
A good thing about this whole struggle is that it's purged the republican party of a lot of it's bad seeds. The dems as we can see have a LONG way to go in that regard. Look at Charles Rangel and disagree... no honorable and informed person can pretend otherwise. - Karmashock, on 04/01/2009, -0/+2Yep, he swept it with a landslide and then kicked it in the groin, spat in it's face, and laughed at it.
That honeymoon is over, chuck. - ZZeke, on 04/01/2009, -0/+2Wrong again Kurt. I would never cast a vote for a Bush. I was a registered Dem until about '02, now I'm independent, without any other label. If it's right it's right, if it's wrong it's wrong, doesn't matter to me which side of the aisle it comes from.
Maybe you're not a worshiper, but you've certainly proven your devotion to the false left/right paradigm with both of your comments, making assumptions based on "conservative" and "liberal" stereotypes. - rhabdomancer, on 03/31/2009, -0/+2Are you talking about the same Rust Belt that Obama just swept in a landslide?
Good luck with that.
LOL - kurttrail, on 03/31/2009, -1/+3LOL! So you don't believe in We The People's right to vote for our representation?
How would you change how Congress is chosen? - ZZeke, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1Kurt, I see a lot of good in both true liberalism and true conservatism. What I don't see any good in is the bastardized fusion of social beliefs with political policy. I believe that the "conservatism" you're referring to has nothing to do with governance and everything to do with social issues. This is how the new "right" gets away with calling themselves "conservative", while expanding government, defending the corporate sector, and limiting freedoms. The "left" has a matching counterpart, social liberals, who also expand government (by over-legislating and trying to legislate social behaviors, ie:hate crime), back the corporate sector over the individual business owners, and defend the status quo more than anything.
Just because someone is pro-choice or pro gay marriage doesn't necessarily make them a liberal, and vice-versa for conservatives. The politicians have learned that all they have to do is take a strong stance on social issues, and they will get re-elected. Meanwhile, 90% of all politicians have voted together on everything that is destroying this country. It's a 2-party dictatorship, and We, the People are the most under-represented group in DC. Look at who votes for what, Kurt. Look at where they all get their $$$ from. Stop buying into the hype, stop dividing yourself from your fellow Americans, and start paying attention to the men behind the curtain. - kward711, on 03/31/2009, -1/+2your right, because if somebody googles ACTA, they'll find out Obama has nothing to do with it..
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -7/+8Hello today's mix of hearsay, deranged conspiracy theories and false conclusions!
- kurttrail, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1Liberalism - A political theory founded on the natural goodness of humans and the autonomy of the individual and favoring civil and political liberties, government by law with the consent of the governed, and protection from arbitrary authority.
And I see conservatism as the main reason for the decline of our once great nation. - kward711, on 03/31/2009, -1/+2yes because the last time republicans were in control of the government it worked out so well....
/s - ZZeke, on 03/31/2009, -2/+3EPA has been full of ***** for years. EPA arbitrarily enforces regulations, it's never been an unbiased organization.
Joshstone is/was not a Bush/neocon supporter. All of a sudden all of you Obama worshipers are automatically assuming that anyone who opposes anything that happens under Obama is a Republican or a Bush supporter. Not everyone is an R or a D. I know it's hard to imagine that from inside of the left/right paradigm you live in, but some of us are more concerned with right and wrong than we are with right and left. - kurttrail, on 03/31/2009, -3/+3EPA should be based on science not politics, like it was under Bush. Bush was the boss and the White House made the EPA conform to their politics, not scientific reality.
As for Obama, I voted for him, but he is just a man, and I don't worship anything.
But I'd be willing to bet you voted for Bush at least once!
Oh, and I am an independent Liberal. - Hetman, on 03/31/2009, -3/+3I agree you are no economist.
- ZZeke, on 03/31/2009, -3/+3You're not really calling Bush "conservative" are you?
Did you bump your head this morning? - WhiteHatTrick, on 03/31/2009, -6/+6Now they are trying to say "ocean acidification caused by high levels of CO2 emissions are a “planet changer”". They're so stupid they probably thought the climate would stop changing so they whipped this bs up.
Here is a link to the digg story. Digg my comments too if you agree ;)
http://digg.com/environment/Experts_Say_Ocean_Acid ... - ZZeke, on 04/01/2009, -2/+2No kurt, I don't think the republican party is conservative at all.
Wars of aggression, policy of torture, suspension of habeas corpus, "free speech" zones...these are not representative of conservative values in any way, shape, or form.
get a grip Kurt, start calling it as it is, not as you're told. - inactive, on 03/30/2009, -8/+8We need a conservative POTUS to dismantle the extremist EPA.
- ConcernedCanuck, on 04/01/2009, -1/+1riiiiiight
http://ictsd.net/i/news/bridgesweekly/43452/
"Barack Obama’s administration has refused to make public a series of documents related to secretive international negotiations on an intellectual property rights enforcement treaty, citing national security concerns."
ACTA will pass, and we will likely never have a good price model for downloaded digital media. - ZZeke, on 04/01/2009, -2/+1"conservative" and "liberal" have been reduced to little more than divisive buzzwords. The overall agenda of world government and anglo world domination continues under every administration and every congress. While the people bicker over gay marriage, the government continues to stray from the constitution and the fundamental values which made this country great in the first place. We're being shoved into the background, while the corporate/military/industrial complex takes over the entire world - with our politicians' blessings, on both sides of the aisle. We're locked in a battle for world domination and the control of the world's energy resources, but not for the benefit of Americans, it's for the benefit of the corporate energy sector. This is neither liberal nor conservative, Kurt....it's fascist and totalitarian. If we were being represented by either true conservatives OR true liberals, our current course would be changed for the better, because either one of these ideologies would be better than being led by a bunch of suck-ups and sell-outs.
- kurttrail, on 04/01/2009, -2/+1I'm not told anything, dude. I'm totally independent.
Personally, I think conservatism is a farce. Either you want to maintain the status quo, or you want to go back to the good old days that never were.
In American History, conservatism was pro-monarchy during the revolution, pro-slavery during the Civil War, anti-women's suffrage, pro-robber barons during the Guilded Age...and anti-gay today.
Hell even the few conservatives that I've admired throughout my life wouldn't be considered conservative enough for today's cons. While Nixon was a crook, few people understood foreign relations as much as he did, though most of today's conservatives would say that Kissinger was the smarter one. Wm. F. Buckley is totally to the left on social issues of today's cons.
Sorry, but to me conservatism is just blocking the path of creating a more perfect union. - Nattybumpoe, on 03/31/2009, -5/+4Didn't Obama also include massive environmental SPENDING? Thus, isn't this more likely to incentivize companies to convert to "green energy" when they receive the TAX CUT for that, rather than a TAX for using the former? But I'm no economist. Also, "Largest tax increase of all time"? Yup that's waht they said about Obama's tax plan too isn't it? But how can he be cutting too many taxes, but at the same time having the largest tax increase of all time. Also, *COUGH* inflation *COUGH*.
- rollin03, on 03/31/2009, -3/+1ABOLISH THE EPA
- kurttrail, on 03/31/2009, -5/+3That would be the EPA under your boy Bush. And the EPA was forced to give all sorts of unscientific opinions throughout you boy Bush's reign.
- rollin03, on 03/31/2009, -3/+1THANK YOU AL GORE
- kurttrail, on 03/31/2009, -4/+2Oh, so you don't think that the Republican Party is conservative?
Are you a Tory hoping to bring back monarchy?
