- mspisars, on 01/11/2008, -5/+13Democrat Governor Jim Guy Tucker, not Mike Huckabee, gave executive clemency to Wayne Dumond, and commuted his sentence to 39.5 years. Tucker’s action made Wayne Dumond immediately eligible for parole.
- Nanellen, on 01/11/2008, -6/+14My heart goes out to Mrs. Davidson and other victims of violent crime. But, the 527 ad that was debuted on Fox the night of the Fox GOP debate just uses their pain to advance the interests of political opponents.
- raisinghale, on 01/11/2008, -5/+12Mike Huckabee is an upstanding guy and cares about people and I am appalled at anyone who would exploit a mother's grief for political gain. The contributors of the 527 should be ashamed of themselves. I think Mike did a good job last night of explaining the situation and hopefully voters around the nation will stand up for Mike and vote for a positive, upbeat, nice guy for president.
- Room007, on 01/11/2008, -5/+111) Arkansas Governors do not have the power to parole. 2) John McCain & Fred Thompson supported these 527 groups that have no accountability for establishing the truth or disclose funding resources through their votes for the McCain/Finegold Campaign Finance Reform.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! - hickoryhill, on 01/11/2008, -5/+10I agree:
"Democrat Governor Jim Guy Tucker, not Mike Huckabee, gave executive clemency to Wayne Dumond, and commuted his sentence to 39.5 years. Tucker’s action made Wayne Dumond immediately eligible for parole.
"The parole board that released Dumond was made up entirely of Democrats appointed by Democrat Governors Bill Clinton and Jim Guy Tucker. Not one member of the board was appointed by Huckabee.
I also agree:
Arkansas Governors do not have the power to parole
Sad to see victims of crime exploited this way for political gains by groups who have no fund raising sourcing accountability. - artistry, on 01/11/2008, -5/+10This just shows how low some people are willing to go to keep us from having a President who cares for the people. Exploiting this woman's grief is just plain cruel. We've heard a lot about compassionate conservatism over the last eight years, but seen little of it demonstrated. Governor Huckabee denied Dumond's request for clemency and the Parole Board released him. No one could have forseen his later actions, but it is appalling (although typical) for the parole board members to deny their responsibility.
- Donnapartow, on 01/11/2008, -4/+8This is truly as low as anyone can go. I can only hope and pray that Americans are smart enough to see this for the sick political exploitation that it is. Someone needs to find out who is behind this organization. I agree that Huckabee has handled this ordeal with tremendous grace and dignity.
- snokeman, on 01/13/2008, -0/+3The point is. Huck signed the release papers. He wanted dumond paroled. The board members was not going to let dumond out. Huck influenced the release. Huck wrote Dumond a letter telling him parole would be good for him. Again, Huck signed the parole papers at the end. He is responsible more ways than one.Why is it anyone elses fault?
Plain and easy for you people one more time.

- snokeman, on 01/13/2008, -0/+2Google "video" and type in "Huckabee and Clemency"
- mlngeor, on 01/11/2008, -3/+4Another dirty attack from the Republican establishment which has lost touch with the real people and real world, and can not stand that Huck is winning.
- Twitter2, on 01/12/2008, -0/+1Governors don't grant parole, the parole board does. Huckabee denied clemency for Dumond. the parole board granted him parole.
- swaddict, on 01/12/2008, -1/+2eligibility for parole and the granting of parole are two different things
- deezerdeezer, on 01/12/2008, -5/+4"Democrat Governor Jim Guy Tucker, not Mike Huckabee, gave executive clemency to Wayne Dumond, and commuted his sentence to 39.5 years. Tucker’s action made Wayne Dumond immediately eligible for parole.

"The ad quotes parole board member Ermer Pondexter as saying she was pressured by Governor Huckabee to free Dumond. She and other Democrats on the board have made the same allegations in every election year. The people of Arkansas weren’t fooled by it in 2002 and the people of Iowa weren’t fooled by it earlier this year." - clown2008, on 01/11/2008, -4/+3Great explanation, we should need to keep saying this but we do. Keep this one handy, we will need all the way to the convention and in the general election.. :-)
