- homercles337, on 02/25/2009, -15/+598%? Thats 14% under the usual diehard 22. Im sorry, but i cant buy these numbers. 22 percenters are here to stay and will never waver from their ignorant, blind devotion to making the rich richer, torture, illegal invasions, spying on american citizens, and most importantly screeching their stupid conspiracy theories from the rooftops.
- GeographyJoe, on 02/25/2009, -15/+54even the mccain voters on msnbc rated it 95 or higher the entire time -- there were times their ratings were over obama voters.
it was an historically fantastic speech. - FlaG8r, on 02/25/2009, -1/+38A lot of the true haters probably just didn't watch.
- freedomjoe, on 02/25/2009, -38/+62Excellent -- my phone was ringing off the hook after his speech. we are truly witnessing history. this president is an inspiration -- someone who was born to lead this nation through this crisis.
- Alheithinn, on 02/25/2009, -11/+338% is not surprising. The hardcore fanatic evangelicals are only about 12-15% of the population at most and those are probably the creeps with no brains who couldn't find their way out of a wet paper bag if you spotted them a tear. I mean, utterly ideologically blinkered. Lost souls. They're dead weight and the country would be better off if they did in fact move back to the 13th century where they want to be so the rest of us can move forward.
- minorthreat, on 02/25/2009, -2/+17what are you going to do if he doesn't fail? Admit your ignorance or continue to be blind to it?
Why did you support 700 billion handout to the banks and support a 100% debt increase over the past 8 years, yet when our new leader pushes a 1 trillion plan that is more specific and totally different from anything we have seen in the past 8 years... you are totally against it?
Why were you not speaking up against this wreckless spending that got us into this mess earlier? - inactive, on 02/25/2009, -5/+19I am positive I wanted to punch Nancy Pelosi in the face...and I think Joe Biden did too.
- TheManikin, on 02/25/2009, -4/+17FTA:
"The speech audience questioned in the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll was about 8 to 10 points more Democratic than the general public."
I thought the numbers were a little wonky, this has a little to do with it, but it was still a well delivered speech. - homercles337, on 02/25/2009, -5/+18/facepalm. Linking a profoundly biased blog for "facts" eh? Nice.
Yes, we did not invent the automobile. Your point? - Alheithinn, on 02/25/2009, -7/+19Oh, there are plenty of lies - from Bobby Jindal, a Nazi rabblerouser if there ever was one.
- CShultz, on 02/25/2009, -10/+21And I bet a poll done by Fox news would show 68% had a negative reaction to the speech.
- CaffieneMan, on 02/25/2009, -10/+21I have a co-worker who is strongly replublican. He was being very sarcastic and saying that it was better than Lincoln's Gettysburg address.
He is surely among the 8% who disapprove. Problem is, he can't put aside his idealogical beliefs for one second to think that maybe someone else may be right. - scout7wc, on 02/25/2009, -0/+10It's really quite simple, it depends on what you spend the money on. Bombs and bullets or infrastructure?
I suggest looking up Eisenhower's "Iron Cross" speech to begin your research.
I'll make it easy:
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article97 ... - redfan, on 02/25/2009, -2/+13"If government spending "stimulates" the economy, then shouldn't the America's economy be booming??"
If only it had been spent on America, rather than on bombing Iraq. - inactive, on 02/25/2009, -3/+13Great numbers for Obama. But as the article says, this is no better or worse than how Bill Clinton and George W. Bush did during their first joint speeches.
- ebolaworld, on 02/25/2009, -2/+12@mzx639 Let me be the first to welcome you from your 8 year coma!
- monkeyrun, on 02/25/2009, -16/+24I like the part where we invented the automobile .....
Who wrote the speech.... seriously. - fairmont72, on 02/25/2009, -1/+9haha I know. I could just hear Biden saying in his head, "Jesus Christ just sit down for two minutes."
- TenaciousG86, on 02/25/2009, -1/+8Don't feed the troll...
- ducksauce001, on 02/25/2009, -2/+9McCain voters on MSNBC? The world is coming to an end.
The speech was awesome. At times like this, it's great to have a leader who is also a cheerleader. - RansomHoldiay, on 02/25/2009, -2/+9if by big brother you mean a website where you can upload and share stuff from all over the internet, then yes. yes it is.
- nullcodes, on 02/25/2009, -1/+7If govt. is to spend money on crap, at least let it be major capital investments. If minimal capital is spent on a per project basis (but there are a large number of projects) then, it's definitely better handled by private investors. But if we are talking about a long term construction type project that requires massive capital then I suppose that could be where government could fund stuff .. I mean I don't like the idea .. but IF it has to happen govt. should go for major stuff .. like funding a supercollider or ITER/IFMIF. ITER and IFMIF should be a top priority cause it will rid dependence on fossil fuels.
Basically, if it is in the funding business (which maybe it shouldn't be) the government should fund major investments that will pay off for the general public in the long term, because those are the types of projects that investors won't do. - maxkonin1, on 02/25/2009, -8/+14The republican response was just a repeat of their same policies of the last 8 years! How ridiculous to believe that you can keep trying the same thing over and over and sooner or later it will work. If there is no electricity and you keep flicking the light switch up and down, does anything different happen? NO. Obama is going to lead us out of this crap. I want my IRA and 401k money back. The democrats have a good plan and if it is allowed to work and not purposely derailed by the right wing, we could be out of this mess within 2 years. Wake up folks. It's not going to be easy but it can be done.
- treehugger87, on 02/25/2009, -2/+8When Bush had been in power for 5 years and we were still hearing "at least he doesn't get blowjobs from his interns" I'll admit, I got pretty tired of hearing b..bu...but...Clinton!!! However, Bush was our President a more 40 days ago. I would contend that EVERYTHING that is happening right now is his fault.
- treehugger87, on 02/25/2009, -0/+6If by "regurgitating government propaganda" you mean...oh never mind
- ebolaworld, on 02/25/2009, -1/+7Well, we popularized it, but it's true that the Germans invented it. CNN pointed that out right after. :p
- redfan, on 02/25/2009, -4/+9Nice that you either didn't watch the speech or were unable to comprehend what was said. All of that stuff was detailed clearly.
- josephbloseph, on 02/25/2009, -3/+8I bury everyone who uses the last word in your post.
- voyetra8, on 02/25/2009, -3/+8I have to laugh when I see ***** like you telling others that Obama is their "messiah."
Ok, champ. - Aleman360, on 02/25/2009, -0/+5Seriously, she looked like a clown clapping her hands wildly right in front of her face.
- fluxion, on 02/25/2009, -2/+7the 8% was actually exclusively the fox news commentators covering it last night. they even gave him bad marks for delivery. i guess its hard to live up to the dynamic performances of our last president.
- kenn5, on 02/25/2009, -3/+8Or maybe they did.
- topgigmedia, on 02/25/2009, -2/+7I am not a liberal and I thought is was much better than even the brightest highlights from 2000-08.
CNN is nothing in comparison to the biases of MSNBC (liberal-elitist) and Fox News (white-trash neo-con). - ftx437, on 02/25/2009, -1/+6IT WAS A SPEECH THAT EXPLAINED NOTHING! he just says what everyone wants to hear, with out going into any details on how he plans on doing anything
- TheSwashbuckler, on 02/25/2009, -3/+8Most of the 22%'ers didn't watch and those that did mostly watched Faux News...
- BryanQ, on 02/25/2009, -5/+10You're on the wrong side of history my friend. I only hope your children see you for who you are.
- skellener, on 02/25/2009, -3/+8They voted for McCain/Palin - what does that tell you?
- deema1, on 02/25/2009, -1/+6I found his message to be very positive and something that we should all hope America to become. But, let's be serious, it's an incredibly unrealistic ideal. We don't have the money to tackle any of the things he proposed and, even if we did, Washington has proven it's incapable of doing anything efficiently or wisely -- or on budget.
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -0/+4great speech but nancy pelosi was even more annoying than usual. shes a ***** idiot and doesn't deserve to sit behind obama
- altgeeky1, on 02/25/2009, -2/+6Why do you WANT America to fail? Honestly... if you want shovel the remaining US wealth to ANOTHER country, just do yourself a favor and move there!
- okmike87, on 02/25/2009, -2/+6Exactly.
- geekee, on 02/25/2009, -1/+5Yeah digg down facts. Lets just give inspiring speeches and hope. Hope is not a plan.
- redfan, on 02/25/2009, -1/+5Sure, he could have detailed every single program, but then the speech would have lasted about five hours. He needed an outline of where the money would be spent, and that's exactly what we got.
- BryanQ, on 02/25/2009, -0/+3The economy was on an upswing...in '99. Listen, you're not cut out to follow politics. You focus on partial issues within much larger situations. Your arguement is laughable and not worth consideration. We're having a serious discussion about the economy and you bring bullet points from a Dr. Seuss book. You are the embodiment the current republican party. You're dead weight...if the Republicans do not distance themselves from people like you the party will sink.
- dalittle, on 02/25/2009, -3/+7I have been taking a bit of glee in watching the social conservatives flail. You see them post over and over at nauseous hoping some negative slogan talking point (that they would never be able to think of themselves) is going to do something.
Do they have alternative ideas? Nope.
Do they have any explanation of why the policies they want so much again failed over the last 8 years? Nope.
Forcing these people to think on their own again is going to be a long slow process, but it needs to happen. - jahurt, on 02/25/2009, -1/+4Be sure to tell Lou Dobbs
- fluxion, on 02/25/2009, -0/+3Karl Benz wrote that part of the speech. for Germany, unfortunately.
- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 02/25/2009, -0/+3Poll: Church goers overwhelming positive about religon.
- gordigor, on 02/25/2009, -0/+3In other news, 90% of diggers want to bitch and complain all the time.
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -1/+4haha! exactly!!!! nancy is a ***** idiot.
