- mdfrake, on 10/10/2007, -3/+90And yet, the dry run hoax story isn't plastered all over the news...strange.
- Lixie, on 10/10/2007, -2/+83So they spend hours, if not days, scaring people with false terrorist reports. But spend only brief seconds "correcting" themselves.
- tucsonsun13, on 10/10/2007, -3/+70You simply can't trust these news networks anymore. Could you ever? There was a time in the early days of CNN where they would produce concise, accurate and to-the-point journalism one could rely on.
The fact that the networks are "news corporations" alone illustrates a large part of the problem. - RanIntoTheDevil, on 10/10/2007, -3/+59No *****?
At least CNN grew enough of a sack to admit they are *****' fear-mongers. How I hate the MSM. - ClosedCaption, on 10/10/2007, -2/+27Wait, I thought I was a tinfoil hat crazy...
Somehow the republicans will find a way to claim that falsely scaring the ***** out of the public is justified. - Myko, on 10/10/2007, -4/+23ArenaRon - you sound like a chickenhawk piece of *****. The reason Fox makes the front page so often for their mistakes are because they are so numerous and contain more bias than any other popular news source.
- Nougat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19Link to video source, for everyone who ignores crooksandliars:
http://edition.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2007/07/27/todd.bogus.threat.cnn - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18Yeah right when the Gonzales lying to Congress and trying to get a sick Attorney general under anesthesia to sign an illegal warrantless data mining operation was going down. Go figure.
It's the nexis of politics and terror. - freedomhater, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Lazy-ass press. Do you ***** jobs and look into a story before you broadcast it.
- TheWretched, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17We admit we fabricate news for fear festering attention. No really, you can still trust us for 'dependable' information.
I don't know what's worse, a corrupt administration invoking fear across the land or the media empire behaving like a well trained dog for them. - quakerorts, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16This isn't as much about CNN and the media, as it is about the government releasing a routine report (there have been about 90 of these reports) to the press and hinting that 'terrorists' are probing our airport security. The media in their rush to be first, failed to be critical of the report and missed the facts that it was just old white people trying to bring cheese or ice packs on a flight.
- Infantrydude, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18What people here expect accountability in the media?
Silly Diggers! - DangerCollie, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17CNN - Trying hard to be like Fox
Only with Fox, you know what their agenda is. CNN is just a lackey. - Neiby, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16It may not be unbiased, but you certainly get news that you need to know and won't hear from the MSM. You shouldn't get all your news from Digg, but it makes a great supplement.
- Ifishbein, on 10/10/2007, -7/+19This is why I get all my news from Digg!
- saltinekracka20, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13My coworker and I were just watching the latest airport scare a few days ago while we were at work. I said, "now watch, theyre going to cut to commercial and then we wont hear anything else about it." That's exactly what happened.
- vfrex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Just wondering if anybody was suspicious about this story to begin with? I thought it sounded absurd when I read it and figured it was some unsubstantiated piece. I don't look for mistakes or inaccuracies in news articles, but I thought this one was pretty blatant.
- Infinite84, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15GEE I WONDER IF THEY LIED ABOUT 9/11 AS WELL
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Even if the news says terror is up or Al Qaeda is planning something, what the hell are we supposed to do about it? It's useless information. Turn off your TV, go outside, have dinner, be happy.
- FarEastKilla, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11make you wonder what other fake stories are out there as well.....
- strafefire, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15Please, please, please can we get this to the front page!
- Mosatii, on 10/10/2007, -6/+16If you're looking for unbiased news, Digg is not the place to get it.
- drgnfly84, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10The story is still on their website, no retractions printed yet:
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/07/24/tsa.incidents/index.html?iref=newssearch - tobdubois, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12There is no unbiased news.
- BelXul, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9ACtually, when this was going on, I found another report which made note that it was a hot, steaming pile of BS, that the ice packs she carried weren't taped, and only filled with the standard blue gel. Kudos to anyone who stayed focused on what was going down in Washington.
- Fullvinyl, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I have to put up with this ***** every day since my office has such a hard-on for CNN. If it wasn't for seeing the gorgeous Robin Meade every morning, I'd strangle someone. Even then, I don't believe a ***** word she says. Cable news = lies and stupidity.
- ptsd, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10the story isnt that its a hoax, its that there never was a story. its propaganda, you have to ask yourself where did this story come from. it was plastered all over the networks not just one.
who says the government isnt still influencing the media. has everyone forgotten the cia and operation mockingbird, or the army psyops working at cnn headquarters?
if it was just one news outlet you could say it was media creating sensationalism for ratings, but it wasnt. - Biskino, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7At this point I'm just happy I can still turn my television off...
- trshtehdsh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7seriously, those news reports freaked me the ***** out, and it turns out they aren't -real-? cnn just lost a chunk of my trust in their news reporting...it's sad when the only news i believe now is supposed to be a satire.
- MammasMilk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8The old lady's ice pack wasn't wrapped in "duct tape" thats what went into the official report. According to her it was wrapped in CLEAR packing tape to make sure it would not leak.
- Vinadetta, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9The role of our government should be to protect us from FEAR, not to instill fear upon the public!!!!! 9-11 was a false flag terror attack!!!!!!
- chowdah, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8What's so strange about it? It's politics as usual for the Bushies. Using fear of terrorism as a distraction goes waaaaay back to any day after 9.11.2001
This administration thinks that fear is a good thing, and use it as a means of controlling the populace - sort of like the Taliban or Al Queda does. - pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7the news reported "blocks of cheese with wires in it", but it was blocks of cheese, with a cell phone charger nearby.
- kkeith02, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I wish the press would be held accountable for this *****. What happens if it caused a panic? Do they get cited for inducing panic?
- n00854180t, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Media spreading fear-mongering ***** stories? Naah, never!
- Shambla, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7But the mozzarella murderer could still be in our midst!
- thehead1138, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6And the Dog keeps on a waggin!!
- jtb4, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Let's Digg this up for the sake of the sheeple.
- zippy757, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8the "news" channels believe their jobs are to (1) create news and controversy (2) pull crap off of the AP and rerun it....
They are nothing but whores at this point...no ethics, no skills, no credibility.... - Kob9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5The best anti-terrorism measure there is - well said.
- geehossiphats, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5GASP!! SHOCK!! CNN lies? Dugg as "true".
- morningmatters, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7This is what happens when you try to copy FOXNEWS by filtering news only appeasing the right. Lets be honest here, you do not need to look much further than Glenn Beck with his prime time spot to realize that CNN is shifting to hard right trying to cultivate its own Billy Orilley. When news organizations such as Foxnews and CNN carefully choose their news to cater only biased audiences, integrity of the news crew takes a large hit as well.
- ChrisB187, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Sounds to me more propaganda from the Bush war machine.
Thankfully, you can only control a population so long from fear before they become immune to it. - LucidOne, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5 Everything coming out of this criminal syndicate called the Bush administration is a LIE including 9/11! Don't believe me? Try to prove that the "official" 9/11 conspiracy theory is true. Go ahead, try, it can't be done! To the contrary, there is a mountain of evidence that shows what actually happened that day is quite different from what we've been told! Do some research and find out for yourself. Our nation is in the hands of murderers, traitors, and thieves!
- fixedcoma, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Have any of you ever read the story about the boy who cried wolf too many ***** times? Sooner or later no one will give two *****!
- synthpop, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Darth Cheney is saving the really good stuff for when the Gonzales thing gets too close for comfort. graphics department is hard at work on scary "DIRTY BOMB" logo
- siszam, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4CNN is not liberal at all. Just the other day they created some pro war show where the mother of a soldier said it was a "privilege" that her son could die "for his country". Crazy, offensive, government propaganda B.S.
- Wacer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Crying wolf is only going to make people not believe the government when there is a real danger. Someones ass should be in trouble for doing this.
- ClosedCaption, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I heard a good one about a gay male prostitute being giving fake press passes and visiting the White House after hours...hahaha...no one will every believe THAT, sounds like a bad telemundo soap
- flycatcher, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Wag the dog.
