- davidg11, on 10/22/2007, -16/+188This MSNBC video is the greatest. Of course Ron is going to sound like a nut to Republican Congressman. He's the only one that doesn't want to spend, spend and spend more and more! (remember the days congressmen where we republicans didn't want to do that? what the hell happened?)
- davidg11, on 10/26/2007, -13/+168By the way, Ron Paul has placed the highest he has ever placed in the NATIONAL GALLUP POLL: 5%
http://www.usatoday.com/news/polls/tables/live/200 ...
So let me say his name recognition campaign is really starting to work nationwide. Once you get Ron Paul up to 9% or more, there is a momentum that builds. I mean if one in 10 republicans vs one in 20 republicans start supporting Ron, the republicans have a serious issue to contend with. I'm 37 and have always considered myself a moderate republican. Meaning I'm more moderate biased towards social issues, but conservative leaning on financial issues. I mean look. The reality is Giuliani is the frontrunner right now. He's a moderate. The problem in my mind is his foreign policy knowledge is non-existant. That scares the crap out of me. If Ron Paul can emphasize that credible intelligence is needed to defend us against threats, then he could win some moderates over. He needs to take a better stance on intelligence because he is always going to sounds crazy to moderates if he says "disband the CIA". He needs to say the CIA is needed for foreign intelligence only and not to interfere in regional conflicts such as overthrowing regimes and arming sides. If he can make that case more strongly, I think he can uptick in the gallup polls much higher. - AAjax, on 10/22/2007, -18/+151And another 20$ towards freedom. Contribute, Ron needs your help
- jtingley, on 10/22/2007, -3/+127I would like to see Ron Paul win just to see the reaction from all the smug media drones that say there is no chance in the world Ron Paul could ever win. Granted I have 1000 other reasons I would like him to win. But there's just something about seeing arrogant people proven wrong that makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
- Beatmiser, on 10/22/2007, -10/+106And once again we get the rush of people coming in to tell us how bored they are with Ron Paul. Here's an idea. If you are bored by him or don't think he should get coverage on Digg. Don't click in. And certainly don't waste the time telling us how bored you are. We don't care.
- mattdanis, on 10/22/2007, -5/+90If you're really a journalist, why would you "mess" with any candiate?
- HugoNaught, on 10/22/2007, -11/+96The NRA needs to get on board the R3volution, that would really increase the voting block. Ron Paul is their man, why are they ignoring him?
- trevorjez, on 10/22/2007, -1/+83i am not a ron paul fan, but even i wrote a letter to wastler about his ***** open letter. so sick of the media telling me who i can and can't vote for.
- inactive, on 10/22/2007, -1/+82I'm fairly certain that Ron Paul said that he wouldn't run as independent if he didn't get the Republican nominee bid.
- conceptkid, on 10/18/2007, -6/+83"I haven't seen this amount of support coming from ANY of the other candidates." Mr. Harwood of CNBC
- KarlJohann, on 10/22/2007, -7/+83With 3 wives, Giuliani should be the mormon candidate!
No seriously. His problem is the national id card. He is an authoritarian who believes in 'freedom through authority'. Do you trust the government with a national id card? How outrageous to claim it's 'tamper proof'. Anything will be counterfeited and abused. - crapmatic, on 10/18/2007, -10/+79The up & coming Digg layout:
World & Business - Technology - Science - Entertainment - Gaming - Offbeat News - Ron Paul - janeuner, on 10/22/2007, -6/+72A third-party run is a serious long-shot. His best option would probably be to win a small number of states, preventing anyone from getting a electoral majority, and thereby force the House of Representatives to choose the next president. The public is then outraged and then (hopefully) force election reform.
- johndoenumber2, on 10/18/2007, -12/+76I have to admit that one of those thousands and thousands of emails was mine. Stuffing the online ballot box and email boxes as well.
- frenchi, on 10/18/2007, -2/+63[Joe Scarborough] added, though, that in the House of Representatives, "Everybody's thought that he's been crazy for a while, as far as too conservative, too libertarian. ... He's a very independent guy. He doesn't play by the rules."
What rules are left in Washington? Let's see: corruption, screwing the average American, making more money, having gay sex while being against gay rights....
I'm glad Dr Ron Paul doesn't play by these rules. We NEED someone that doesn't play by what most people in Washington call 'the rules'.
I've never voted for a Republican before. - theropingeffect, on 10/22/2007, -9/+69This some of the best news yet for Ron Paul. The general election is over a year away. The Ron Paul campaign is already light years ahead of the rest.
- Frostman3D, on 10/22/2007, -6/+66Damn right people are exited about Ron Paul. He's the only one in Washington that has any sense, he's not a crook like the rest of the bastards up there, and the people want an end to all the legislation being passed day after day that steals our rights and bolsters big business and government. Ron Paul 2008 for damn sure!
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -4/+62We RP supporters and campaign workers ARE NOT asking for any special treatment. WE expect to be treated FAIRLY! Ron Paul has earned his rightful place beside ALL of these other candidates. Probabaly more so than some.
- MadEnvoy, on 10/22/2007, -0/+56Regardless of whether he's on the ticket or not, I'm writing him in.
- whataboutdave, on 10/17/2007, -3/+54How many successful third party presidential campaigns have there been? Exactly. This is why Ron Paul is running as a Republican. A third party run would be a senseless waste.
- inactive, on 10/22/2007, -7/+57You ***** with Ron Paul? We ***** with you!
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -5/+49Probably not as much as the Repubs though. Hes making them all look like utter ass-clowning fools.
- stillasleep00, on 10/22/2007, -0/+41On multiple occasions.
- AbsurdParadox, on 10/18/2007, -4/+44The absurdity of these news sites posting polls, and then pulling them down because Ron Paul wins cracks me up. Mostly because its very simple to create a poll thats one-vote only (without a lot of extra work on part of the voter). Really, what these news sites are doing is admitting their own incompetence.
- TheReport, on 10/18/2007, -1/+40People say this guy is a radical but let it be known he is returning full circle to working on the principle that maybe the piece of paper that we stopped following after WW2 called the constitution isn't a farce after all and that the brilliant men who penned it over 200 years ago had a general intrest in protecting the republic and its people instead of their pocket books like the corrupt politicians who run it today. So in conclusion he is radical by default only because we haven't followed it the basic liberties of the constitution in years
- notthemama, on 10/22/2007, -4/+42But lets hope he gets the gop nomination. The existing political machine would probably outlast the public outrage. At worst, the outrage could be misused to trick people into losing more rights or instituting harmful election reform that gives the machine even more power.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 10/17/2007, -5/+42Hillarudy. Nice one.
- zdoggy00, on 10/18/2007, -7/+43"I hope he runs as the Libertarian candidate to further divide the conservative vote. Ill love you guys even more then."
I got news for you...he's got plenty of Democrats that are going to vote for him too...because their sick of the pretend interest in ending the war.
Oh, and don't waste your time with Obama...FOX News is lining up behind Hillary...she is the chosen one of the elite. - Azriel7, on 10/22/2007, -1/+33yea, keep donating people. I have donated twice already (never donated for a candidate in my life before). The only thing everyone notices is how much money a candidate makes. The more money RP has, the less smack they can talk about him.
- o0joshua0o, on 10/18/2007, -3/+34Is there a website where I can learn more about Ron Paul's position on various issues?
- Annon, on 10/18/2007, -2/+33And this is when the media begins to realize that his support is real, and that he actually has a chance at winning.
- dunderballer, on 10/18/2007, -0/+31"[flooded with] thousands of email, like I haven't seen from any other -- you know, followers of Chris Dodd or Bill Richardson or Joe Biden." I got a good laugh out of that line.
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -11/+40I laugh every time this US elections stuff comes up on Digg because everything is about money.
Hilarious to think that you can't have a run at a public office without millions of dollars. I guess the phrase "only in America" is appropriate here.
You guys need to introduce some sort of spending limitations and monitoring like we have in the UK so that all candidates and parties have a reasonably fair chance rather than it just going to the richest person. - lyserious, on 10/22/2007, -3/+31Kinda makes me wonder. How many of you own a land line? I just use my cell phone and also those polls only sample what? like 400 to 700 people at a time? There is nothing scientific about it and if anything haveing a net poll allows opportunity for anyone to have a voice.
- Bilabrin, on 10/22/2007, -2/+29I heard the Neoconservatives are planning to run 3 opponents to his house seat. Maybe he could hack them off and parley it into a senate run or even governor.
I jest though, of course he's gonna spend every last cent and win the primary. I believe the tide is turning. He got %5 nationally in the latest gallup. People are starting to really take notice. His followers are not being ridiculed like they used to be and are starting to be taken very seriously. I think it's all downhil from here.
RON PAUL '08 - davidg11, on 10/17/2007, -14/+40Online polls are an indicator of online support. Are you arguing that other Republicans don't own computers and have access to the internet? That's kind of a weak argument, isn't it?
As to national polls. We all know that the polls call landlines of households. They don't call dorm rooms and they don't call cell phones. if you aren't listed in the phone book, guess what? You aren't being called! Now you may have noticed the trend of younger people moving to just cell phones. So how exactly is the 18-35 population being polled? Now I'm guessing you could probably increase those poll numbers to 5% right there. (after all, this poll calls 1000 people, and it isn't beyond belief that they are missing 50 people (5%) who only own a cell phone, is it?) Of course not. - mrjit, on 10/17/2007, -4/+30A woman hating OBGYN. Okay.
- XBSHX, on 10/17/2007, -1/+26Shouldn't you be asking that about every other candidate also?
- Azriel7, on 10/22/2007, -1/+26Yea, RP has already said he will not run as and independent if he does not get the bid. :( Thats a shame. However, that should motivate everyone to VOTE for him in the primaries. Do not live with regret with what you SHOULD have done later.
- whataboutdave, on 10/17/2007, -0/+25He is their man on the private ownership issue, but don;t you think gun manufacturers have an interest in keeping the military industrial complex alive and kicking? War means business is good.
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -1/+25Damnit. Can't you just be a sheep like most of the rest of america and keep this guy's inbox crispy clean and shining white?
- pkfx, on 10/17/2007, -2/+25The Gallup Poll isn't exactly a good indicator, either, because it's not representative of the people who will actually go out and vote in the primaries. A higher percentage of Ron Paul's supporters will vote in the primaries, just like a higher percentage of Ron Paul's supporters vote in the online polls.
- AbsurdParadox, on 10/17/2007, -3/+26Please provide evidence of your claims.
- BrittonBK, on 10/17/2007, -3/+26You are accusing people of spamming FOR Ron Paul? Don't you think this might be considered spamming against him? Spamming is spamming. Regardless of a lot of things he thinks.... he also thinks it should be up to individual states to make much of the policy. I'll all for smaller federal government.
- CannedMango, on 10/17/2007, -1/+24Congratulations... you just partook in a little thing called democracy. Now if only the MSM would see it that way.
- toxicshok, on 10/17/2007, -4/+27Hmmm... a man who dislikes federal control introduced a bill that stops federal control. Has the world gone mad?
- BlackJackJester, on 10/17/2007, -5/+27WRONG. Ron Paul supports the states ability to choose. He thinks it should not be a federal matter.
Now I hope you come back to read this so we have one more informed person out there. - EndersGame, on 10/17/2007, -0/+22I want to see the look on Greg Stephanopoulos' face more than anything. I hope that smug little bastard actually pays up when Ron Paul wins.
- sphigel, on 10/17/2007, -3/+25That's the last thing we need and Ron Paul would be the first person to say it. If govt can regulate it they can ***** it up. If you've got a good message you can raise money. Ron Paul is proving that. Yes, you have a huge advantage if you already have a lot of money but then again life ain't fair. Deal with it.
