- RedZero519, on 07/24/2008, -3/+72When the hell is another major news source going to pick up on this? As a recent journalism graduate, I feel personally embarrassed about this, and worry that I might not have a job in the future because the public will have lost all trust in the media. And if this continues, I wouldn't blame them.
- nelsonjs, on 07/24/2008, -9/+65The liberal media strikes again! Someone at CBS is either incredibly biased for John McCain or has no clue whatsoever what qualifies as news. Either way, they have proven their ineptness once again.
- dreamtiger, on 07/24/2008, -3/+41So we are editing history as we go now? I guess that means you can't say anything "for the record," because the record is whatever the fascist media wants it to be.
- laudyms, on 07/24/2008, -4/+38Liberal media?? Corporate media is more like it. These tame hacks do the bidding of their corporate bosses who want socialism for themselves while draining wealth from the middle class. McCain's act gets cleaned up to keep their facade intact.
- sdocpublishing, on 07/24/2008, -3/+36The phrase "Liberal Media" is a talking point created by the conservative owners of the same media for the republican propaganda machine.
Wake up! The entire mainstream media is owned, controlled, edited, and censored by a small group of people. Their is government and private intervention and it is all propaganda.
Just ignore it and it will go away. - AtHomeBoy2000, on 07/25/2008, -4/+33There was a third flub:
John McCain Says He Won The Bosnia and Kosovo Wars
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/John_McCain_Says ...
So, let's run down his edited interview with Katie Couric:
1. Screwed Up the Surge Timeline
2. Forgot About Afghanistan and called Iraq the first major conflict post 9/11
3. Says he won the Bosnia and Kosovo Wars, and the first Gulf War. - nascentia, on 07/25/2008, -2/+24I recently graduated with a journalism degree as well man, I feel for ya. Here's the thing, though...if you want to do print, tough ***** and good luck - lots of firings, lots of papers going under, lots being bought out by the giants.
If you want to go into TV journalism...there's no such thing. TV "news" is a joke, and it's been proven (and taught to me many, many times) that a half-hour of TV news has the same amount of info. as one page of a newspaper.
As for radio news, it's at a stalemate, and may or may not be dying.
That leaves the Internet, which is the best bet.
I ended up leaving journalism altogether, but good luck to you. We need more real journalists. - rald84, on 07/24/2008, -4/+26scrub a dub dub, old man in a tub
- zephyear, on 07/24/2008, -6/+26what the *****, CBS
- YodaJones, on 07/25/2008, -0/+13If there is one thing that America will never run out of, it's retards like this guy to run for president.
New American Expression: You are stupid enough to be president. - jbdobd, on 07/25/2008, -3/+15McCain't is a NeoConfused.
- nascentia, on 07/25/2008, -0/+12I don't see where I suggested anything of the sort. I wished him good luck, because it seems like he truly cares about -real- journalism, and that's the kind of person we need giving us our news.
Comprehension and reading skills. Learn them. Douche. - typographics, on 07/25/2008, -0/+8Does anyone think that if Obama says something stupid, they will edit it out? No way. The media hangs on his every word waiting for him to mess up. I don't understand why CBS is being so forgiving to McCain.
- bjornski, on 07/25/2008, -0/+8'That's not the way the world really works anymore,'' he continued. ''We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.''
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/17/magazine/17BUSH. ... - wacked, on 07/25/2008, -1/+9god help us all if this idiot is elected.
- lordving, on 07/25/2008, -0/+7Are you slow? Did the media erase the footage of Obama saying 57 states? No.
And you obviously didn't pay attention to the Obama video because you didn't even notice he meant 47 states. watch the video again...47 states he had visited, minus the 3 he hadn't. He mentions not being able to go to Alaska and Hawaii and having one more state to visit equaling 50 states in total..think logically for a second. It's like noticing McCain only said Iraq borders Afghanistan because he confused the q with the n
If you really think a Yale graduate doesn't know there's 50 states in the US, I have some bridges to sell you - chaosium, on 07/25/2008, -0/+7It'll all be Fox and Clearchannel.
- xNarrowSoulx, on 07/25/2008, -2/+9I honestly thought you were a dumbass speaking of the media's 'extreme leftist bias' for a second.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -0/+7WTF CBS, and WTF McCain, what the *****, is he like going into final stage Alzheimer's right before our eyes?
- ShellShock11, on 07/25/2008, -0/+7No clue what qualifies as actual news? CBS it's not that difficult...display the ***** interview in it's unedited form. We want to hear from our "glorious" presidential candidate.
- MrEthiopian, on 07/25/2008, -3/+10McCain will be the next president, our current administration will either hack the election like they did in 00/04 or they will just off the competition. And our MSM will never ask any logical questions, we the people are truly *****!
Buy a gun. - ShellShock11, on 07/25/2008, -1/+7***** people like you are the reason America is losing it's edge. I mean seriously...instead of saying "We are screwed" why don't you do something about it.
Also, I don't think we are more screwed than we are right now with our ***** retard president. - tetraelement, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6Did anyone else but me, while looking at first glance, think this had something to do with Scrubs coming to CBS this season?
- peticsu, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6yeah but watching John McCain in supermarkets trying to explain and fumbling all over the place is too good to pass up. Give it a week and he'll pull one of his temper tantrums on TV.
- macinit1138, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6Anyone else wish the banks were doing well but the networks started folding right and left? I know I do.
- ZenMojo, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6That'll protect us from the tanks.
- ZenMojo, on 07/25/2008, -1/+7Ah, CBS. Just when we thought you were insane with your Democratic Primary debate that was nothing but a long series of suggestive and leading mudslinging questions that had been answered repeatedly and dredged up once again for no apparent reason, you go and prove your madness is method.
- huff51, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5you spelled that wrong. im pretty sure the right way is Oldtimers.
- ferrell, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5CBS 24.7.08 mccain malquoted iraq rectify
- sdlvx, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5Wow I'm so glad we live in a free country where information flows freely and the people who form this democracy are properly informed so they can make the the appropriate decisions
Oh wait that's right the media machine only gives a ***** about ratings, and the best way to drive up ratings is to make it look like the race is exciting so all the retards can tune into CNN and Fox news and view the ads between the retarded ***** they throw at you.
Congrats! LONG LIVE AMERICA AND DEMOCRACY@!!! Thank god we can bring this sort of ***** to other countries! - xNarrowSoulx, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5MSNBC did on his other fail/lie.
- DarkPrincess74, on 07/25/2008, -1/+5I'm sick of hearing about sex scandals of all politicians. I'd much rather hear about politicians going to jail and being scandalous with public funds or making secret deals with corporations.
- yotsukado, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4you're not alone
- StormCommander, on 07/25/2008, -1/+5All the media likes big government and hates freedom. Now you know.
- bubba9999, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Why would the network for old people do such a thing?
- queenbee93, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Maybe CBS is just saving their scrutiny for when McCain claims he dodged sniper fire on the border of Iraq and Pakistan.
- bjornski, on 07/25/2008, -2/+6I see.
Only sex scandals matter.
As long as they're Democrats.
If you'll only focus on sex scandals, here. Read up.
http://www.armchairsubversive.org/ - Loonacy, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4They didn't "censor" it, they just didn't print it. There's a HUGE difference.
- justbloggin, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3This is no big surprise. I have lost all respect for the American media since 9/11, when it became blatantly obvious that the media was to frightened to offer objective criticism. The media has been sleeping for years. Whatever happened to the 5th estate? Has the entire U.S. media been bought and sold?
- sdocpublishing, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4Yes, if everyone stopped watching FOX, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, etc. then who will they be broadcasting too?
- Meep3D, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3sdocpublishing, I wasn't talking to you, I was replying to RationalXubrnce's comment of...
"Just for fun say who that small group of people is and watch yourself get buried."
Let me just say I am pretty sure you wouldn't get buried for saying it was the 'political and financial elite'. Its pretty farking obvious what he meant. - bigpixl, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Whoa... whoa... WHOA!
Slow down, you'll have an aneurysm.
EDIT: I went back and actually read through this train wreck of a post. You are ***** up. Seriously, a member of law enforcement will be at your home soon to confiscate your computer. Please, crawl back into the inbred hole you surfaced from. The adults are talking, so if you could quiet down, we'd appreciate it. We'll call you when the election is over. Thanks. - aftern9ne, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3So where is the proof that he skipped the trip to the soldiers so he can "soak up more chanting"?
Extrapolating facts to benefit your agenda is hardly intellectually honest. - Acewrap, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3TIME for YOUR pills!!!!!
- malex, on 07/25/2008, -2/+5If you think about it, even you should be able to tell the difference between misspeaking and misunderstanding.
Do you think McCain meant to say "second major conflict since 9/11"? You know he didn't. He meant what he said, and what he said was wrong. - haydesigner, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3"They didn't "censor" it, they just didn't print it. "
I was going to to say much the same thing, but Loonacy beat me to it. And he said it much nicer than I would have. - malex, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3I didn't think it was contagious...
- autechre78, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3It was reported on NBC Nightly News that the reason he canceled the visits to the wounded soldiers was due to the Pentagon informing him that it would not be appropriate given the political stage.
- arvvvs, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2People say they love Obama.
The more media attention you get, the more likely you are to be criticized.
McCain has in some ways teh best of both worlds. - cambob76, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2The media is just doing their part in the grand charade. Can you really blame them for wanting to keep their jobs? Well, I can. But you know, as a man of principle, you have to make sacrifices and do what you know is right. Don't be so selfish. Stand up to injustice. If someone lies to you and mistreats you and tells you to obey... you should get PISSED OFF and do something about it. Don't wait to be the second or third person to take action. Be a leader by doing. Others will follow. They always do.
