- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -14/+157Republicans will stop at nothing to strip you of your right to vote. Don't let them!
- alapoet, on 10/01/2008, -6/+139Shameful.
And prosecutable. - katagana, on 10/01/2008, -7/+134Pass this on!
- MrEthiopian, on 10/01/2008, -7/+103The republicans are up to their illegal tricks once again. Take a look at this story from rolling stone on the what the republicans did in 2004, if we cant have fair elections in this country than we need a revolution, lets get rid of all the republicans and bar them from ever taking office again.
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/10432334/wa ... - BishkekBuddy, on 10/01/2008, -11/+86Where the hell are the Democrats, and why aren't they raising holy hell about all of this stuff everywhere & seem to have no clue that they are in a War on Democracy being waged by their GOP opponents.
- debbierl, on 10/01/2008, -5/+73
I have been working on this issue since before they stole Ohio in 2004. It is beyond immoral that the dems ask for our money and our time and won't scream this from the rafters. - paintgrl, on 10/01/2008, -4/+56Look , don't wait for the Democrats to fix this problem of people stealing our votes. Get off your ass and raise holy hell yourself. I am writing letters to my reps in congress and the ACLU. I have no other ideas about it, but if someone else does let me know. There is some illness in our Country that have made the electorate lazy and apathetic. Just replace we for Dem and you get.
"Where the hell are we, and why aren't we raising holy hell about all of this stuff everywhere & seem to have no clue that we are in a War on Democracy being waged by the GOP ." - inactive, on 10/01/2008, -8/+54This is down right un-American. The Rethuglicans are naught but dirty crooks, that's why we call them that. The Rethuglican party should be destroyed for this; but, their criminal activities aside, their platform states that, as elected officials, they intend to violate the separation of church and state. Their party should be outlawed for this provision alone.
- texasred54, on 10/01/2008, -4/+49Report all this to Obama's campaign site. Call your state attorney general's office. Contact the local media.
Call the local Republican headquarters. Call everyone in an official position. Get loud. - jrndigg, on 10/01/2008, -10/+54here we go again, can't the republicans run a clean campaign? Obviously not. Be prepared for more and more of this slim from the desperate campaign of mccain.
Obama = Change
Vote Obama!!! - GovernmentSp00k, on 10/02/2008, -6/+48Is anybody really surprised. I mean really. Come on. These creatures are professional deceivers. They will stop at nothing to force their preferred front-puppet into office. No word from the Dumbocrats. Where is the outrage? Where is the investigation?
Doesn't matter which "lesser of 2 evils" lobbyist Owned, bought sold & paid-for corporate puppet gets 'democratically' "elected" by Diebold computerized voting. Both serve the same masters. Both take orders from far greater, wealthier entities than 'we the people." Nothing will change for the better with either of them. Nothing. Same 'ol. That's why REAL choices, "Third Party' candidates are locked out of debates, censored and subverted all together as if they don't exist. If presidential elections really changed things, they would be outlawed illegal. Business as usual. Taking orders from AIPAC. Bowing down obediently to the MIC. Hoodwinks for Wall Street and ultra rich bankster financiers. "Representatives of the American people!" is a laughable, meaningless, false illusion FARCE to be propped up by the powers that be to better manipulate the American dummies. Doesn't take much.. The OWNED, script parroting puppets don't represent us any more than Santa Claus and the tooth fairy. Don't forget to vote! - springfels, on 10/02/2008, -4/+41HERE'S SOMETHING WE CAN DO::
First here's the link to check voter registration in every state: http://www.votersunite.org/info/RegInfo.asp
FOR PEOPLE OUT REGISTERING VOTERS IN SWING STATES ::
You can take your internet connected phones and help people check if they are registered. You can also print and pass out state specific information on how to check to people. In fact, it is a very nice lead in to approach people about being concerned about voter registrations being purged illegally and provide this information, which can lead to a more open conversation with that voter. Good luck everyone!
Once again we urge you --- even if you've voted in a recent primary election --- to check to make sure you are still registered! - MorganMghee, on 10/02/2008, -5/+35That's not the only way they're manipulating the vote! http://digg.com/politics/Candidate_Drops_Republica ...
http://blogs.thenewstribune.com/politics/2008/06/3 ... http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/sep/26/ju ... - Gemfinder, on 10/02/2008, -2/+23Good God, they're actually LETTING the hoi polloi vote! They're even facilitating it! What's this country come to?! They'll be demanding that voting be without charge next!
Give me a break.
My friends and I've been registering people downtown for the past month of Saturdays. There's a lot of homeless down there and the Neocons have been screwing them so long they think they don't have the right to vote even though the vast majority of them are American citizens (and not a few military veterans).
We tell them that if they're over 18 and American citizens they can register and vote but they don't believe it. That's called "brainwashing" and it came from the Right ***** them over for years and years.
And of course they support Barack. They ain't gonna have a Hadean snowcone's chance with McCain. Obama is their only chance of getting out of the hole they're in and re-entering society. - MorganMghee, on 10/02/2008, -1/+19And they won't do much to represent you as a Republican either. Now, if you happen to be a Republicorp, it's the party for you.
- swordphish, on 10/02/2008, -3/+19If you are guilty of rigging an election, you are guilty of treason. The penalty for these actions should be death.
- LuCiFer6, on 10/02/2008, -4/+20This is ***** scary and it's happened before in Florida during Bush's first term to become president when names were being removed due them being similar to convicted criminals names.
- Dumbledorito, on 10/02/2008, -1/+17Because they're still cowed by Bush v. Gore. In spite of many instances that should be investigated for fraud, the Dems were beaten up with "oh, there you go again, running to the courts when you can't win at the ballot box" and so on.
Never mind that the GOP had an army of lawyers in court at the time, demanding recounts and challenging votes.
The Democrats haven't been as willing to play dirty as the Republicans have (and I'm not saying this as a means of holding up said party as a paragon of virtue. They're still in the "they can't do THAT, can they?" stage). If they ever do, the GOP only has itself to blame; it's taken things much further than they ever went before. - neuronic222, on 10/02/2008, -0/+13This is easily the most overlooked and most critical issue of the electoral season. Voting fraud (both purges and electronic) has worked successfully for the Republicans in the past. Since NO ONE was held accountable, they would be silly not to do it again. Obama's team NEEDS to get on this one.
I grit my teeth at night thinking about how undemocratic and un-American this is. This issue should be a public humiliation for Republicans.
Please, please, please watch this from Stephen Spoonamore (a Republican insider): http://markcrispinmiller.blogspot.com/2008/09/spoo ... - chuckDontSurf, on 10/02/2008, -1/+13You just copied that directly from the description. Why're you're being dugg up is beyond me.
- stealthspc, on 10/02/2008, -1/+12Well....
Make sure you register to vote this year then. Even though purging the old corrupt voter registrations is annoying, your voter registration information should be complete and accurate. MAKE SURE YOU RE-REGISTER THIS ELECTION so we can have a fair election. - oldgal, on 10/02/2008, -3/+13Karl Rove Playbook, page 3: Before engaging in unethical or illegal behavior, accuse your opponent of doing it - not forgetting the big lie if necessary.
We need a group of democrats that includes a few lawyers to monitor the republican accusations. Every time the republicans accuse the democrats of something new, then this group should investigate and find out where the republicans are doing that very thing and figure out appropriate action to take. - buckrogers1965, on 10/02/2008, -1/+10Is there any worse crime possible in a democracy than denying someone their rightful vote?
- ErickStevenson, on 10/02/2008, -2/+11And then.... nothing happens and we continue getting screwed...
- mjbk24, on 10/02/2008, -2/+10Please god not again...
- Sogui, on 10/02/2008, -6/+14So I read the story and didn't hear a peep about GOP voter manipulation, even the Rawstory headline (which is usually spun to the left to get more hits) didn't say anything about the GOP. Furthermore they only mentioned the "potential" for problems due to a lack of oversight.
Not saying this isn't something that needs to be looked into, but take a look at the tactics Obama and his lawyer's endorsed when running for his seat in Illinois before you even think about taking the moral high ground here. - shibagarden, on 10/02/2008, -2/+10The same CBS censoring Palin interviews in exchange for exclusive interviews from the McCain campaign?
http://digg.com/political_opinion/Katie_Couric_and ...
I wish they'd decide exactly once and for all which side they're whoring for. - Dumbledorito, on 10/02/2008, -1/+9“If you vote for George Bush and you’re not a billionaire, then you’re a stupid girl from the Midwest giving blow jobs at the county fair.”
- Patton Oswalt - buckrogers1965, on 10/02/2008, -0/+7We might all end up begging for change before this is over.
- neurokrash, on 10/02/2008, -1/+8Make sure you can still Vote!
1. Are you registered? Are you sure? Your recent application may have been lost or rejected - or your past registration may have been purged.
https://www.votepoke.org/index.html
2. If you are not registered to vote, register here
http://www.credomobile.com/registertovote/?source= ...
3. If you are not sure whether you are registered to vote, you can also call your County Election Office:
http://www.vote-smart.org/voter_county_election_of ... - ThsGuyRightHere, on 10/02/2008, -0/+7Thank you.
- MorganMghee, on 10/02/2008, -2/+9Not and win. Running this sort of campaign is more costly, both in dollars and risk. You don't go there if you have a popular, well rounded candidate that is qualified.
- Rixar13, on 10/02/2008, -1/+7The GOP are criminals and need to be held accountable, Fox Noise is a mouthpiece for the criminals and are just as bad.
- muckemuck, on 10/02/2008, -4/+10"seem to have no clue that they are in a War on Democracy being waged by their GOP opponents." ... ha. both parties are waging war on Democracy. Both parties work hard to keep third party and independent candidates off of the ballots and out of the debates.
- 24tracks, on 10/02/2008, -2/+8This is the best advice I've seen yet
- twiztidsinz, on 10/02/2008, -2/+8*IS death
- PabloIV, on 10/02/2008, -0/+6No one will probably read this, this far down but I live in Puerto Rico and was born a US citizen, the result of this election affects me directly, but since I live in a colony and not a state I can't vote. I, an American citizen, living in US soil; cannot vote. Please someone in a swing state who wasn't planning to vote, go vote for Obama, for me, please...
- bnder, on 10/02/2008, -3/+9Where does the Brennen report say that the GOP is solely responsible for all of this? All CBS does is cite Brad Friedman's blog. Have blogs advanced to the point where they have become a legitimate news source with journalistic integrity?
I agree that the system of Voter Purges is a broken one and the Brennen Center has a decent remedy for that problem. But it is wrong to blame to GOP without reviewing which officials are conducting these purges and what affiliations they have. If it turns out to be a GOP conspiracy against Democrat voters, then those responsible should be brought to justice. But until then, let us resist the knee-jerk blame game and look for the facts. - ThsGuyRightHere, on 10/02/2008, -1/+7or just maybe not whore at all.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 10/02/2008, -4/+10Let's see, which party stole two elections already? Just sayin'.
- tjoiner, on 10/02/2008, -1/+7Did you even read the article? It doesn't mention Republican or Democrat. It is talking about clerical workers in secretary of state's offices making mistakes.
- Barackalypse, on 10/02/2008, -1/+7Its funny you say this on the day of a historic Senate vote on the biggest taxpayer funded bailout in the history of the world, where both Obama and McCain voted the way Bush wants them too. Change indeed, looks like more of the same old crap.
- flossdaily, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5@badastronaut:
You may want to consider that republicans have been in charge of the congress for 10 of the last 12 years, and even now the democrats only have small majority in the senate, which prevents them from doing ANYTHING without republican support.
You may also want to consider that REPUBLICANS have been deregulating the economy since the Reagan era, and that lack of government oversight is what has caused most of our economic problems. - LuCiFer6, on 10/02/2008, -3/+8I know it may not be read or responded to but I had to submit that story to Obama's campaign site. This is by far the most important Presidential Race in my lifetime and I had to voice my anger about this story.
- TalentedMoron, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5And don't tell me McCain doesn't freaking know this. . . Please!
- buckrogers1965, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5@ Dave
They have never counted a single provisional ballot ever. - minimitable, on 10/02/2008, -1/+6Not quite. MrEthiopian rightfully espoused abolishing the Republican party based on the fact that they readily commit voter fraud (among others).
The article refers to the defrauded voters and the methods and tactics Republicans employ in order to rob people of their right to vote.
No irony there. - inactive, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5The real question is: why aren't the Democrats doing anything about it?
- Pimptastic, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5Oh you must be talking about Chicago in 1960. Seriously you want an election rigged or manipulated, come to Chicago we will show you all how its done.
- Finsternis, on 10/02/2008, -1/+5The republicans don't have to worry about being caught. If they lose no one will bother following up, and if they win and people complain about this, they'll just claim we're sore-loser crybabies who can't accept that we lost - just like they did four years ago.
