- ironhide, on 02/23/2009, -13/+72Liberal media? HAH!
- CarlsDigg, on 02/23/2009, -12/+57Just more evidence of the delusional thinking that's all the rage in extremist circles. Seriously, how do you reach these people? It's like they have to be deprogrammed from a cult. They just don't seem to want to get along. It's like trying to pet a snarling, snapping dog.
- ScienceDoc, on 02/23/2009, -16/+45The neocon corporate controlled media is in the process of destroying this Country. You don't believe it? Watch CNN, FOX News, or read the WSJ. They are full time propaganda and infotainment.
- hotkinkydad24, on 02/23/2009, -8/+30One more network I will not watch, along with ABC and all the Fox Channels.
- TruPhan, on 02/23/2009, -10/+32I wonder how much more out of touch the media can get. Thank God we at least still have Stewart and Colbert
- Insightful, on 02/23/2009, -10/+29MSM: Americans consistently voted against conservatives in the last two elections and our viewership is dropping. Oooh, I know the solution - get more conservatives voices on our network.
P.S. - You too NPR. Every time I hear David Frum on NPR I am reminded how you had to fire a number of NPR staff while Frum and his AEI fellows would love to see NPR gone. Way to respect your listeners and supporters. - BIGOTHER1, on 02/23/2009, -10/+28This seems more sinister than TPM's Josh Marshall's belief/hope that the news media are still simply "wired" for Republican rule. The media lost control of the debate, which they had reduced to (we thought) the lowest forms during the past two decades. But their response to a new situation is not to hire smart people, but the reverse: to promote menancing, stupid ranters (Alan Keyes, P Buchanan, but Santinelli, et al) in order to FEED what they think of as the moronic masses. Didn't they notice the election and the electorate this last time?
- jeffbw, on 02/23/2009, -12/+30Yeah, let's destroy the REST of the world, CBS. There's a special place in hell reserved for all you corporate media slime.
- nihilville, on 02/23/2009, -2/+18Were you dropped on a head as a child? Perhaps you were raised in close proximity to mercury deposits? Maybe all those years of huffing glue is finally catching up to you?
I'm just trying to figure out what would possess you to make such an asinine & psychotic statement. - middy, on 02/23/2009, -4/+18No guys. Horses are bad people.
Honestly, whatever. People have differing opinions. I'm not going to be indignant every time someone I disagree with opens their mouth. Life is too damn short. - nihilville, on 02/23/2009, -6/+18I bet it's getting harder and harder for them to say that with a straight face at least.
- JoeParanoid, on 02/23/2009, -5/+16And this is the sort of intellectual standard that runs the halls of the MSM. No wonder it's all just extreme weather and crime news.
- DangerCollie, on 02/24/2009, -2/+12I must not be reading the extreme right wing web sites because I can't figure out where it comes from. How insular do you have to be not to have any factual insight slip through the mental bars?
And how do you get people to be so regimented in their thinking? Where they'll reject anything that doesn't fit in with their narrow view. Just amazing to me. Especially when so often those views are contradictory. How do you accept Bush squandering trillions of dollars and uncounted lives, but complain about the stimulus?
Accept Dick Cheney handing out no-bid government contracts to a company he still takes money from and get all up about a black man in the White House?
How do you rationalize such extreme positions without your brain exploding? - ace429k, on 02/23/2009, -2/+12only if you stare into a mirror. a very shiny mirror. in a very bright room. with white walls. and it has to be you.
- 52growler, on 02/23/2009, -12/+21I will NOT purchase any advertised item on CBS. I mean absolutely nothing to them but this means everything to me.
- Infidelcastr0, on 02/23/2009, -3/+11Does that include the 90's?
Remember the nonstop anti-Clinton witchunt? - inactive, on 02/24/2009, -1/+8FTA:
A decade ago, I debated Ballabon in New York. I represented the Democratic Jewish community while he spoke on behalf of Republican Jews. During the debate, Ballabon claimed that, after his most recent job in Washington, he became convinced that Democrats are inherently bad people and Republicans are fundamentally good people.
@OP Nice little snip there guy. Trying to change words up a bit to make his statement seem more recent?
Credibility fail on two accounts... Huffington Post and your snip. - Batfishy, on 02/23/2009, -4/+1152growler
I understand exactly what you mean. People tell me that I'm not "hurting" Walmart for refusing to shop there. I boycott them for my own satisfaction. - Yez70, on 02/23/2009, -2/+9I wonder if Christian conservatives are ever going to realize that a Christian and a conservative are typically moral opposites.
- rottencod, on 02/23/2009, -3/+9[citation needed]
- homercles337, on 02/24/2009, -1/+6And PBS/NPR.
- dannykeene, on 02/24/2009, -2/+7she was blatantly republican, now blatantly democrat.
she goes wherever the wind blows, and goes way over the top - scoetrain, on 02/23/2009, -2/+7Being called a "lib" hurts even more than being called a "cracker".
You're mean. - kroses, on 02/24/2009, -0/+4To complain, write to: leslie.moonves@tvc.cbs.com. This is certainly not the journalistic "Golden Age of CBS News" anymore, but a mere shell of a shill network these days!
- Hetman, on 02/23/2009, -9/+13He is just feeding the Christians conservatives pride. Unfortunatly for them according to the bible only the meek shall inherit the earth.
- dannykeene, on 02/23/2009, -8/+12But ariana huffington isn't blatantly over the top partisan either, right?
- Sublime059, on 02/24/2009, -4/+8Why do douchebag conservatives like yourself say "libs"? It's such a gay thing to say. No wonder the rest of the world looks at you people like whiny children.
- kukurio, on 02/23/2009, -2/+5What's wrong with ABC? I realize that the Obama/Clinton debate was atrocious, but Charlie Gibson redeemed himself by going tough on Palin, and George Stephanopoulos is a Democrat. (In fact, he was Bill Clinton's first press secretary.)
- JoePython, on 02/24/2009, -2/+5Well, it is an incontestable fact that, on average, conservatives give far more of their own money to charity (adjusting for income) than liberals. On the other hand, liberals are far more charitable with other people's money.
- ace429k, on 02/23/2009, -5/+8I only ever watched CBS for....ah....hmm....I don't think I watch CBS for anything. You guys know of any good stuff on that channel?
- FLUX, on 02/23/2009, -7/+10I would like to shake that mans hand he sounds like a good person
- homercles337, on 02/24/2009, -0/+3404 The citation you are looking for does not exist.
- treehugger87, on 02/24/2009, -0/+3Gibbs went after Palin? I thought he gave her softball questions ("Do you agree with the Bush doctrine?") and she made an ass of herself.
- cdw070, on 02/24/2009, -0/+3Won't you have to watch CBS to know what items are being advertised?
- carabou, on 02/24/2009, -0/+3well, i don't get this story, they are bad people, i herd that dems eat baby kittens. And are the reason people cant poop sometimes.
- a2fan, on 02/23/2009, -2/+4What's left? PBS?
- loki1983, on 02/24/2009, -2/+4that is provable. good job, +1 thumbs
- scoetrain, on 02/23/2009, -6/+8The Huffington Post is openly partisan. CBS News claims to be objective.
- treehugger87, on 02/24/2009, -0/+2Just because everyone on Digg doesn't echo the same opinions as your AM radio station pundits do doesn't mean that Digg is "full of lefties." If you looked around in the real world, looked at some polls and got your news from truly neutral sources you would see that Digg is fairly representative of how people feel about things.
The only exceptions are the right wing shills, like yourself, who very vocally jump in and ruin the conversations. Thank god for the bury button! - jitterbits, on 02/24/2009, -0/+2main stream media
- jitterbits, on 02/24/2009, -0/+2Out of curiosity, do they factor in donations to churches, such as tithes? Because that certainly might account for at least some of the discrepancy.
- homercles337, on 02/24/2009, -1/+3I have seen the right-slant in CBS for some time now.
- ReligionKills, on 02/24/2009, -3/+5It's not that black & white, but in general the beliefs that Repubs have are a lot more twisted and delusional than Dems., IMO
- jitterbits, on 02/24/2009, -0/+2The real news seems generally less legitimate. Of course, you can't use those programs for your sole news source, but who would? Anyone not familiar with current news wouldn't be able to enjoy or understand the show in the first place.
- Swivelstick, on 02/24/2009, -2/+3No the extreme weather and crime news fits into the pattern of keeping people scared which is exploited by them and their friends in politics. It is the same thing (tactic) that is done in the extreme madrasas of the middle east to get people to do as they will.
- SirCharge, on 02/25/2009, -1/+2So, a VP in a major news company once may or may not (depending on if you believe a blogger repeating an unverifiable account) have said something negative about democrats 10 years ago.
For all of the especially slow folks in the audience, this does not mean that the neoconservatives are taking over the media or that suddenly CBS is the same thing as FOX or that anything has changed whatsoever.
As it turns out, a lot of company VPs are republicans. Republicans tend to be in the older demographic, so do VPs. - SirCharge, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1That was crazy.
- Jlaugh, on 02/24/2009, -0/+1The don't have to be opposite they just are at the moment.
- SirCharge, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1And democrats are openminded and non-judgemental.
- nofrickenway, on 02/24/2009, -1/+2I get my news online so I wouldn't know (besides FOX), but wasn't CNN always called the Clinton News Network.
And besides, you only listed 3. -
