- nihil, on 02/25/2009, -41/+150but Digg told me Obama would reverse the dastardly Pres. Bush policies usurping power for the executive branch?!?!?
- sjl127, on 02/25/2009, -21/+72I felt the earth stop rotating.
- chriskzoo, on 02/25/2009, -26/+65LOL, it's going to be hilarious watching all the lefties who dismissed Byrd's past, while jumping on comments like Trent Lott's, now come out to call him a racist.
- TheInformer, on 02/25/2009, -8/+45Illegal power grabs under Bush = EVIL HATE MEAN SPIRITED AGAINST CONSTITUTION TREASON IMPEACH.
Illegal power grabs under Obama = ok.
Make sure you understand the media and Democrat template for Obama. - JoeParanoid, on 02/25/2009, -14/+48Way to go, Sen. Byrd! The Constitution is primary regardless of whose party controls the executive branch.
- supercandy, on 02/25/2009, -83/+115Mr. Obama is a disaster.
The Democratic President speaks, Markets flop.
OBAMA: "Over the next two years, this plan will save or create 3.5 million jobs."
This is the VIVID mantra for this deceit - to SAVE OR CREATE?
If anyone pulled this manipulation in the real world, they would be fired.
It is DOUBLESPEAK, meaningless, pointless, has no value, etc:
"it could do this, it might do that, we have no idea"
the Democratic Partisans should have covered all the bases,
saying they will SAVE OR CREATE OR LOSE 3.5 Million jobs. - vltg, on 02/25/2009, -30/+59What a perfect example of " The Pot calling the kettle...(you should excuse the expression)..Black"!! Byrd, who has used his position as
Chairrman of the Appropriations Committee for many, many years....to get "goodies; for W. VA, threatened other states projects with denial of funds unless he got his way.now is worried about the abuse of the Executive Branch??? His statements will be ignored by those who follow Obama, and he will be called a racist for his former KKK days, and by those who still curry his favor!! Alas, what a sorry messenger of a truth. Obama is displaying serious Attention Deficit Disorder, power hungry, irresponsible governmental policies. The hypocricy is that the Pelosi, Reid et al gangs are in direct lock step....Go figure! The only common denominator is that they are all misguided Democrats. - digitronix, on 02/25/2009, -15/+42Obama needs to do something? How about obey the Constitution, which doesn't allow him to do anything he already is doing?
- PuterPrsn, on 02/25/2009, -26/+52ROFLMAO The Democratic senate is just now figuring this out?? It always has been, and always will be, all about the O. We don' need no stinkin' senate...
- TruthforAll, on 02/25/2009, -6/+30And this my friends is why Obama is really more dangerous than Bush ever was.. The propaganda machine is alive and working better than ever.
- Gandalff, on 02/25/2009, -53/+76Did Byrd just take a peak out from behind his hood and realize what has been gong on? Watch out Byrd your past is about to come out to haunt you now. The machine is about to call you a racist for doubting him and his wisdom and grace afforded you under his laws.
Just as last night was not a Sate of the Union Address but an address to congress. Rules of engagement and our constitution are changing and the sheeple are are not even realizing it. Or could it be he is not allowed to give a State of the Union due to Birth Records and not Natural Born Citizen? Who knows but why has every other sitting President been required to give one but not the Messiah?
Openness, Transparency, Honesty and accountability were only for the campaign just as tax cuts for 95% of Americans paying taxes. Oh sorry I guess he can claim that one with the $8.00 you will get. Can see the flat screen now. Only 600 tax credits to go or 11.53 years minus interest of course. - mnocket, on 02/25/2009, -11/+33Obama needs to do something. Right now it looks like Pelosi wields the power in Washington.
- tomasII, on 02/25/2009, -2/+22She looked like she was weilding something with her cheerleading antics last night. I though she might jump down and try to have sex with Obama, her response to his rhetoric was so orgasmic.
- Cattywampus, on 02/25/2009, -17/+36Usurping power? Yes we can!
- Madrigalian, on 02/25/2009, -31/+50Hey, get with the ***** program people. This is Obamanation, the new USSA. Hope we can make believe in!
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -0/+16I'm a fan of Lincoln... except for the fact that Lincoln was really the one to expand the government outside of its constitutional bounds.
- pintomp3, on 02/25/2009, -19/+34Funny how conservatives are taking Byrd's side now but hated him when he criticized Bush and the Iraq war.
- TheManikin, on 02/25/2009, -14/+28I appreciate what Robert Byrd is doing.
Did I just actually say that? - 7papa7, on 02/25/2009, -31/+44I wonder what took him so long to figure this out. It was obvious from all his rhetoric when he was running for office that he wanted to have total control. Now that he is doing it, Robert KKK Byrd is surprised. Wake up and open your eyes. He is doing what he said he would do. The constitution means nothing to him, remember he said it was flawed and the fact that he swore to uphold it means nothing. Why don't you show some backbone and take what he is doing to court to stop him? He wants the executive branch to have 100% control and the judicial and legislative branches to be non functioning symbols.
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -9/+22no need to excuse, you can write the word 'black' without being a racist. That's ridiculous that you even wrote that. But I agree with your other statements.
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -0/+12You can thank NoLibertarians and friends for burying anything that actually makes sense..
- thcobbs, on 02/25/2009, -4/+16This is the ONLY time I'll quote from Episode I:
"So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause." - keltin, on 02/25/2009, -1/+12Lincoln was the first to usurp unconstitutional powers. He was a great man in some respects, but power grabbing wasn't one of his acceptable actions.
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -10/+21You and I share the same prediction for how they'll play this one out. They'll either call him a racist, or drop their patented "But czars were ok when Bush...." number.
- Tunic, on 02/25/2009, -6/+173 hours worth of comments and all I can see is the word "sheeple" used as if somehow the people using it have some magical view into something that everyone else cant see, or like you get your news directly from the future.
How many of you voted for obama, and now that its been a month after, and you figured out that electing (or sorry most of you don't believe electing exists) a guy would be a light switch that changes everything on the day he is sworn in?
Seriously wheres the Ritalin digg needs a healthy dose sometimes. - sultanknish, on 02/25/2009, -26/+37Obama is attempting to subvert the Constitution and centralize power in his own hands, bypassing Congress and State Governors
this is a dangerous precedent and a slippery slope into absolute tyranny - Infowarsdotcom, on 02/25/2009, -17/+28It's not too late to save our country...
Blind Obama followers need to stop attaching their egos to the actions of yet another president who would rather wipe his ass with the constitution than obey the rules it set forth that made this country great in the first place. - vexingmodstwo, on 02/25/2009, -6/+17Seriously. I had to do a double-take.
- mc88, on 02/25/2009, -1/+11Czar - definition
1. an emperor or king.
2. (often initial capital letter) the former emperor of Russia.
3. an autocratic ruler or leader.
4. any person exercising great authority or power in a particular field: a czar of industry.
Energy Czar
Performance Czar
Car Czar
Drug Czar
Copyright Czar
Cybersecurity Czar
The list goes on and on. So, are we just doing away with the legislative process and going to a Soviet Union model of government. The "Czar" idea did not start under Obama, but he is appointing a large number of people under that title and giving them far too much executive power. - theselfishgene, on 02/25/2009, -3/+13I'm a dem, but glad to see other view points being expressed on Digg. I don't like these executive power grabs one bit. Not saying it makes it right, but remember that Cheney et al did the same thing when they suspended habeas corpus. Let's hope the American people wise up to this.
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -10/+20Gee... Obama adheres to the czar infrastructure that was already in in place, does it with a degree of competence that borders on dangerous because the infrastructure was already broken, and suddenly he's the bad guy? Besides, it's not like the czars get a vote in congress. The check/balance is still in place in that respect.
I don't dispute for one second that the czar system was a bad idea from the start, but it happens to be the way things have been done for...ohh...the last 100 years or so. Byrd can introduce legislation to limit their influence if he so wishes. That's his job, after all... - anixmander, on 02/25/2009, -0/+10Your name is appropriate.
- keltin, on 02/25/2009, -3/+12Not a partisan issue? I beg to differ, in the strongest of terms. All the Greenie-Leftists have been doing for the 8 years of his tenure, was to defame Bush as being illegitiimate and a scoundrel. It has been nothing but partisan, including the calls for impeachment, etc.
Of course, he can't be impeached now, but you don't care, because all you want to do is act as bipartisan as your leader Pelosi, and rip the guts out of Bush as he lay stretched on the rack. - mediabias, on 02/25/2009, -28/+37So this is what Obama meant when he lamented, "why can't we be more like China?"
Watch your mailboxes for your little red books! - chmstar, on 02/25/2009, -8/+17"He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance."
~Declaration of Independence~ - PeppermintPig, on 02/25/2009, -0/+9There have been presidents before Lincoln who were also constitutional screw-ups, it's just that todays screw ups are both more monumental and relevant.
- atomheartmother, on 02/25/2009, -23/+31One of my favorite guilty pleasures is to take every opportunity to point out that it's not the hateful Republicans that have a former KKK member within their ranks; it's the Democrats, who are the proud owners of the skeleton formerly known as Robert "Sheets" Byrd. As they say in West Virginia though, even a blind hog can root up an acorn now and then, and Byrd has found a nut here. Obama is a tool of the radical Regressive agenda, and as such has launched a full frontal assault on the Constitution's separation of powers in a disgraceful orgy of tyranny.
- Ryuzaki356647, on 02/25/2009, -3/+10How about looking at the popular articles on Digg for the last 8 months? Anything that was pro-Obama was dugg up and filled with "yay Obama, boo Bush!" comments. You wanna talk hypocritical, don't make me bloody laugh.
And all the time, up till the last 2 weeks, no one would dare take the name of Obama in vain or act against him, lest they not receive a giant pile of free government money.
And for the record, if anyone spoke out against Bush, it was filled with hate speech and everything in between.
So Hail Comrades, at our era of Hope and Change! - mcquitty, on 02/25/2009, -1/+8tomasil, I didn't watch last night and I didn't need that image burned in my head. It will take copious amounts of alcohol to remove it now.
- iamacea, on 02/25/2009, -6/+13"Or could it be he is not allowed to give a State of the Union due to Birth Records and not Natural Born Citizen? Who knows but why has every other sitting President been required to give one but not the Messiah?"
You lost all credibility when you started appealing to conspiracy theories. Some of your statement is valid and an important note, but falling back on nut job conspiracies doesn't do much to backup your claim. - ryrocker, on 02/25/2009, -3/+10
just because you have a few disgreements with someone doesnt mean you have to hate them entirly...
my best friend is practicly a socialist, and im a libertarian. - mc88, on 02/25/2009, -1/+8Partisan politics at it's finest.
"If it fails...meh, I'll just shrug."
Whereas you would call for Bush's head on a stick, after he was tarred and feathered.
I didn't believe in Bush and I don't believe in Obama. Think objectively or don't bother
voting next time, because you obviously only toe the party line. - mc88, on 02/25/2009, -0/+6I can't believe all the "Czars" that are being appointed. That alone raises red flags for me.

"Come witness the violence inherent in the system." Holy Grail - Tbyrd073, on 02/25/2009, -21/+27Yea I told 'em what's up! O wait..... /sarcasm
I am glad to see that criticism of Obama's shady dealings is not limited to just Republicans. I think that this is something that everyone, including liberals, should see and understand the problems being caused by Obama. $1.2 Trillion dollars in spending and multiple cases of him grabbing even more power for the executive branch. I think that is some sort of record for someone who has been in office only a little over a month. - MattDell, on 02/25/2009, -0/+6I used to work for the Coast Guard in West Virginia. First off do you even know what the facility is? It's not a coast guard base. It's called the Operations Systems Center and they do all the software development for Coast Guard projects there. It's a Government-Owned, Contractor Operated (GOCO) facility with about 94% of the employees there working for contractors. Why would such a facility have to be located on the Atlantic Ocean?
The facility is also located within an hour of Washington, DC, making it very easy to talk with Coast Guard HQ.
Finally, the cost of living in WV is much cheaper than in the surrounding areas of DC, allowing the government to spend LESS money on paying the employees that work there!
How is there anythng wrong with that? - drmangrum, on 02/25/2009, -1/+7Just because he has a racist history doesn't make him wrong. It only makes his motives suspect.
- vexingmodstwo, on 02/25/2009, -2/+8*****, Ripley. Maybe you weren't paying attention but the Dems were taking snipes even before the smoke had stopped rising at Ground Zero.
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -8/+14mediabias, red books in the mail? What are you ***** retarded? Everyone knows we can't afford books or mailmen anymore. Obama;s Urban militia will be delivering these by hand.
- ryesmall, on 02/25/2009, -0/+6I cannot believe you are so presumptive of what should be on the front page.
