- strafefire, on 10/11/2007, -13/+345Wow...It seems amazing how everyone is talking ***** about Bush NOW, instead of early when we needed them too.
Not that there is anything wrong with better late than never, but...
Never mind...If I think to hard about all the stupid ***** that has happened in the last 7 years, I may have an aneurysm... - tc2004txst, on 10/11/2007, -10/+125Bush almost seems like he is trying to become the craziest president we have ever had. Any time I think, well at least he won't do this... He usually does worse than I could have imagined.
- Kelgann, on 10/11/2007, -4/+115The worst part about the Republican party's opposition to stem cell research is that the cellular matter that would be used to do such research is otherwise thrown away (it's left over from in vitro fertilization, they fertilize many embryos at once but don't use them all). I can't see any kind of honest justification for wasting that kind of valuable research material, which could help an infinite number of people eventually.
- Waiting2awake, on 10/11/2007, -10/+72 Just as a point though, towards those that are saying he should have spoke out earlier just as Powell should have.... Do you all forget how Americans were acting towards anyone that had the audacity to point out what the Bush Admin was doing? Remember calling your friends Terrorist-sympathizers? Remember completely ruining careers of those that spoke out? You guys, didn't make it possible in many cases to speak out without the threat of a lynching from all the patriotic Americans out there.
Besides - what is your excuse? Some 250 Million people are now aware of who and what Bush is and represents - yet none of you do anything either. Why? Because you'd lose your jobs if you went out and stood up for your rights and the rights of others - just as these guys did.
I am not saying what they did was right - I am just appealing to the masses to see that they are guilty of the same thing. - Stewmoney, on 10/11/2007, -2/+55Ya man, too little too late is right. I felt the same way after watching the michael moore thing that was on digg yesterday. I mean, where were all these people when we needed them? People are abandoning the ship now but when they thought it was more profitable to be on the President's team rather than America's team they chose partisanship over democracy.
- InetRoadkill, on 10/11/2007, -2/+44Actually, that's not fair to say that no one spoke up. There have been scientists from dozens of govt agencies who spoke up about Bush's interference with their research and the ability to publish their findings. The only news here is that the media is now actually listening to people who have been trying to warn us for years about Bush's manipulation of science to force-fit it to match his political policies and ideologies.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+42with all due respect, donelson, your generation achieved sweet ***** all. What happened to the peace & love generation? They grew up & became bank managers, stock brokers, lawyers, politicians. The fire died, the wave broke. Don't lecture the current generation on their inactivity, when your generation helped *create* the very apathy & cynicism that is now all-pervasive. What did you actually achieve? Dope heads & acid casualties, nothing.
- beerden, on 10/11/2007, -8/+42Come on you Americans, DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR COUNTRY. Don't just sit around and watch it happen.
- brufleth, on 10/11/2007, -1/+35Well I'm not sure which generation in particular you're targeting but my generation (mid to late twenties) seems to be busy making due. We're dramatically out gunned by baby boomers who continue to hold political and financial power far greater than our own. So we happily consume our crappy media and while we might get upset about our government we have been raised with the understanding (right or wrong) that we can't really do anything about it.
- nodonoug, on 10/11/2007, -2/+36serving at the pleasure of the President is not SUPPOSED to mean altering the truth to fit political agendas!
- rarson, on 10/11/2007, -3/+37@donelson:
"Where is your generation?"
Where the ***** is YOUR generation? They're in office. Or they're sitting at home doing nothing about it. I may be too busy trying to support my family to be more politically active, but you ***** are either causing the problems or doing nothing about it. ***** selfish whiny bastards, that's what you guys are. You only care when it's YOUR PERSONAL ASS on the line. ***** you, and your entire generation, *****. - rhabd0mancer, on 10/11/2007, -5/+34Some fertilized embryos are "adopted" by loony pro-lifers.
Well, some of the white ones are adopted. The black ones go into the trash.
Praise Jebus. - daonlyfreez, on 10/11/2007, -2/+30The baby boomer generation screwed it up for all of us. You were born and raised under booming circumstances, you could pick your school, study as long as you like, and pick a job you liked afterwards. Great that you had too much time on your hands to be able to do drugs and talk about a "love revolution", the younger generations cannot anymore. First, they have to seriously study and try climbing up the ladder if they are working. Problem is, all you spoiled baby boomers are holding the positions the younger want. And then you complain about the younger, but in the meantime you expect them to pay for your pension, whether they will see any pension themselves is still very unclear.
Go and do something about it yourself, you spoiled baby boomer. - InetRoadkill, on 10/11/2007, -1/+29The difference is that there is currently no military draft. Should that change, you'll see marches... plenty of the them.
- edemerton, on 10/11/2007, -3/+29Religion and science have never meshed that well in the past, why would they now? Bush (who thinks he is God, or the next best thing) has done nothing more than try to push his religious views on this country. Why is it surprising that he would censor a scientist (the surgeon general) who could potentially prove him wrong?
- MammasMilk, on 10/11/2007, -10/+35@ooloo
"Nothing but Bush Bashing. Since the surgeon general serves at the pleasure of the President, he should be on promoting the President's agenda....."
Man, I'd LOVE to have a dim-witted toadie like YOU working for me! - diggbot7, on 10/11/2007, -5/+27Americans: You have a moral duty to remove this lunatic from the highest office of your country. Or, suffer his abuses in silence to your everlasting shame.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+23They did speak up, but were then muzzled by the administration, had their funding cut off and were discredited constantly till they started towing the party line again!
Bastards! - fatpads, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21Not American myself but you can still march too.
- Arcesius, on 10/11/2007, -2/+21That guy was the surgeon general, for Christ's sake! As he put it, "The job of surgeon general is to be the doctor of the nation, not the doctor of a political party." You seriously think it's ok, even preferable, for him to be "promoting the President's agenda...."? You're ***** insane, dude.... seriously.
- djempirical, on 10/11/2007, -1/+19"If nobody comes down here and buys a car in the next hour, I'm gonna club this baby seal!"
- kazamx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15In the UK we had the biggest marsh that London has ever seen to try to stop the Iraq war. The Government just stops listening
- djdole, on 10/11/2007, -5/+20America to Bush: STFU & GTFO!
- oxdeltaxo, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18I can see Bush becoming a used car salesman when he's finished with his term... In fact your comment has inspired me!
"Come on down to crazy George's used car lot, yeeehaw!" - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18HA HA HA, oh god, that is so perfectly insane, I can only wonder what kind of psychopath you are in real life. /wipes tear from eye
- kuzotz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15Generation Y does protest. I'm sorry to tell you this, but due to the 1960s generation becoming the powers that be... Well they do everything to make sure the heavily monopolised media does everything to NOT cover the protest that happen, and they do everything in their power to make sure these protest are done in "freedom zones"
simply put due to your generation my generation lacks the balls to go outside the freespeech zones to protest.. We are that generation taught to respect law enforcement even when you don't receive respect from them. sure your generation had balls, but your generation got into the man's inner circle. Thus screwing us over.
BTW the babyboomers screwed us. We bust our asses ten times harder than those ***** ever had to do, and it still lands us a job that barely pays 15k a year after 4 years of college, and 2 years of graduate school or law school. ITs hard to get hired. Even with experience. - takamalak, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14The problem is that the 'ship' is my country.
- diggbot7, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17That is perhaps the most facile endorsement of conflict of interest I have ever heard. You are delusional - seek help.
- mt066, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Same as any generation before or after. It's easy to stick it to The Man....until The Man starts letting you into his circle. Then it's much more fun to just shut up about it. Besides, I haven't seen his generation (whichever one that is) dominating the protests for this war either. They are the protest masters, after all.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+20"I am a republican, and will more than likely vote republican again."
Then you are part of the ***** problem. - rarson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12It's one thing to support the idea of a war for a particular goal. It's another thing entirely to actually PROFIT from the deaths of your own fellow Americans (and people of other nations, whether they're "terrorists" or not).
- diggbot7, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Keep your ill-informed opinions where they belong. Inside your own head.
- oxdeltaxo, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14That's just gross, do they use it as a conversation piece or something?
Pro-lifer #1:"Ah yes I see you have an aborted fetus on your coffee table."
Pro-lifer#2:"Indeed, it had to saved for more useful purposes!" - takamalak, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12I prefer to vote in the left direction.
- kuzotz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12doesn't banning the research and banning abortion achieve what your grandfather just said...
- millyuns, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Yeah. Go up to the button marked technology, click it and your prayers will be answered.
- MomoTheCow, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13Some of it is because of information only recently coming to light, but most of it seems to be herd mentality. It's no longer unfashionable, or dangerous, to speak ill of Bush on record. Hopefully, once all the rats have abandoned this sinking vessel, the captain will go down with the ship.
- nixonrichard, on 10/11/2007, -8/+18***** you and your shameless self-promoting links.
- Stewmoney, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12So true. You know, I don't even think he cares if 100% of citizens disagree with him. I honestly think he will do whatever he wants regardless of what the population wants. And I am not even exagerating here or trying to be extreme; I really believe this to be true.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+14Wow. Here's the video:
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/07/10/bushs-former-surgeon-general-blasts-administration/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C43uqebvycY - underthelinux, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12Woah woah.... This guy is not just anyone. He's not me or you. He's the surgeon general. He is in a position where he can speak out and make a difference, not just picket on the steps of the White House. More than anything, i'd say its his responsibility to do so. "With great power comes great(er) responsibility."
I can, at best, vote in the right direction. I've done that. - Stormflux, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9"As the duel began, Shields became aware that Lincoln outmatched him with his long reach. This became apparent to everyone when Lincoln reached far overhead and cut off a willow branch with one quick stroke. Shields's precarious position became obvious to him, thus causing him to back down and make peace with Lincoln. From this point, Lincoln and Shields are said to have had a friendly relationship."
Good ol' Google. - yutt, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10"It's not that we don't care, we just know that the fight ain't fair."
- takamalak, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12Someone needs to stomp a new mud hole in your backside. That would be serving at MY pleasure.
- Wonderkind, on 10/11/2007, -9/+18This is news to whom? Martians?
- appetite, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9How is disagreeing and firing someone the same as stifling everything they say to further a sick political agenda? All these "Clinton did this" examples are so mild and meaningless compared to Bush's actions in every case.
- cloudyprison, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13"I am a republican, and will more than likely vote republican again."
I stabbed myself with a knife and it hurt, and I will more then likely do it again! - EarlOfLade, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11And because of the horrible political system USA has, getting rid of the idiot is almost impossible. The political system is designed for status quo where 2 parties changes on being in power and nothing changes in reality. By electing individuals and not political parties and with the archaic presidency, you will never move forward. Since the 60's you have had a string of morons in the White House, costing the US people trillions of dollars and millions of lives. And that off with a system designed for corruption were corporations buy politicians (contribution to the campaign). This can easily be fixed by requiring all contributions go to the party and the party finance the campaigns. No legal corruption will then be possible since the candidates themselves can not receive money directly.
If you want to Digg me down because you don't like what I say, how many other system do you know enough to evaluate what I said? Remember, just because something is American, doesn't make it the best. -
