- willyummy69, on 11/15/2007, -1/+97i don't know about this. something smells fishy.
- Shigglyboo, on 11/15/2007, -1/+65hrm, if I knew that nobody could investigate me until I "allowed" it, I bet I could get away with all kinds of crazy *****.
- pintomp3, on 11/15/2007, -1/+54seriously, sounds like they just wanted some time to shred documents and degauss some servers.
- inactive, on 11/15/2007, -1/+40Allow? Allow? Well isn't that just ***** magnanimous of him.
- aliengoods, on 11/15/2007, -0/+39Bush is allowing it....
How generous. - BoneStamp, on 11/15/2007, -0/+30This will make the headlines and front page of digg. Two days after that, they will stop investigating and we will never hear about it.
- seenthefuture, on 11/15/2007, -0/+25They were going to have to investigate eventually. Now that Bush got another one of his kind (Mukasey) leading the investigation it makes perfect sense to get it opened and closed asap.
- physicx, on 11/15/2007, -0/+24Looks like a hatchet job on Gonzales is coming
- obliviousfool, on 11/15/2007, -0/+16Yes. They should investigate themselves more often.
- Pureeviljester, on 11/15/2007, -0/+15why do we need his approval?
get a warrant. - Schneckehaus, on 11/15/2007, -2/+17Maybe Bush is finally starting to worry about his public image?
...lol, who am I kidding, he probably just finished hiding all his secrets elsewhere. - johnhummel, on 11/15/2007, -0/+14That's what I was thinking. After Tenet left, all of the intelligence issues were his fault. After Michael Brown was kicked out, Katrina was all his fault (until the tapes came out showing him telling the President and other cabinet members "Holy ***** - the levees might break, yo!"). Scooter Libbey? Same.
So I expect Gonzales will be blamed, though Bush will "express support for his friend", and if Gonzales is convicted, he'll be pardoned on January 19, 2009. - Deanblackoak, on 11/15/2007, -0/+14"Mr. Roehrkasse said the Office of Professional Responsibility’s investigation “will focus on whether the D.O.J. attorneys who were involved complied with their ethical obligations of providing competent legal advice to their client and of adhering to their duty of candor to the court.”
Officials said it was unlikely that either of the inquiries would address directly the question of the legality of the N.S.A. program itself : whether eavesdropping on American soil without court warrants violated the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. They said that decision had been left to the courts."
This is a farce. They're investigating the wrong part, the attorneys not the wireless wiretapping. Another snow job. A distraction tactic by Mr. Bush. - marmanukem, on 11/15/2007, -0/+13Ok, besides spelling inept wrong.....
- blankman, on 11/15/2007, -0/+13well now that they've had plenty of time to bury, twist, and hide evidence, they're ready to be investigated
- sensi313, on 11/15/2007, -0/+13Too bad his peeps will be doing the investigating. Just like the 9/11 (c)Omission.
- martoq, on 11/15/2007, -0/+13Of course he revered his decision. He has who he wants in there to "find" what he wants.
- NCSUspoon, on 11/15/2007, -1/+12He probably will do something during that which resembles: "Oh you can search whatever you want, provided it's not these 15000 pages of documents. That... uh... protects us from terrorists"
- laserblazer, on 11/15/2007, -1/+12Don't forget Rove, Strauss, Rice and the rest of the traitors that collectively form the filthy cabal that is this administration (officially or otherwise).
- TheSwashbuckler, on 11/15/2007, -0/+10They must be confident they've destroyed all the incriminating evidence.
- cornerback42, on 11/15/2007, -1/+11Sure investigate my crime, after I've had years to cover my tracks and destroy anything that would implicate me. See you in hell!
- Drahkar, on 11/15/2007, -0/+10Plus like they said, they have now had plenty of time to shred and replace evidence to try and make themselves look innocent and have it fall onto some patsy.
- Hetman, on 11/15/2007, -0/+8If the government wiretaps just one person it is against the law. And Im fine with investigating Bill if he has wiretapped american citizens with out a warrant he deserves exactly what bush should get jail time.
- keyboardduder, on 11/15/2007, -0/+8Can we look into your shady dealings with the telecoms? "No" (shuffles private information) "yes..."
- aliengoods, on 11/15/2007, -0/+8No, he hasn't received the medal of freedom yet.
- chrismgtis, on 11/15/2007, -0/+7"President Bush had reversed course and approved long-denied security clearances for the Justice Department’s ethics office to investigate the National Security Agency’s warrantless surveillance program."
Sure, after all documents, electronic and paper which could incriminate the government and Bush were shredded and deleted - secretwhistle, on 11/15/2007, -0/+7Sounds like Bush is short-timing it now. It will be someone else's fiasco by the time that investigation wraps up...
- principle, on 11/15/2007, -0/+6Bush is safe as long as Krongard who stated that he is "not my brother's keeper" is the State Department's Inspector General.
http://www.motherjones.com/washington_dispatch/200 ... - laserblazer, on 11/15/2007, -1/+7Filling U.S. government positions with traitors that facilitate Bush's crimes is a strategy that will fail when foreign powers begin the process of prosecuting our wartime-deserting, illegal war-starting, human-rights raping ***** of a 'President'.
- fractalman, on 11/15/2007, -2/+8This is what happens when Bush makes a decision without consulting Cheney. Bush isn't smart enough to do all the evil he has done without someone like Cheney to guild him down the wrong path.
- jonnyeuchre, on 11/15/2007, -0/+6
Safe to say that all the evidence accompanied Cheney on his last hunting trip. - khail250, on 11/15/2007, -2/+8speak English, at least double check your quote if you are trying to insult someone for being stupid.
- LogicBomB, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5Bush: "Let's see here... everything seems to be back where it was... all clean over here... and... okay we can let them in now"
- OBKenobi, on 11/16/2007, -0/+5
i don't know about this. something smells fishy.
This will end as all government "investigations" end. Like of Blackwater, Halliburton, Abu Ghraib, Amerithrax, the telecom monopolies, etc. It will be "investigated" until the ADD American public will forget about it. - VitriolAndAngst, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5"Just four days after Michael B. Mukasey was sworn in as attorney general" -- I think that's all you need to know about this now.
Future Digg topic; "Puppet court concludes nothing to see... you might as well have put Gonzo on the case."
Why are the Democrats aiding and abetting this creep? What do they get out of this or what does BushCo have on them?
They will probably admit to spying on EVERYTHING with their tap at AT&T after the Dems allow them the "get out of jail free card." In other news, Waterboarding will be ruled a bad thing -- as if it weren't already ruled that. But this time, they'll really mean it.
*sigh* - TheHydrogens, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5Once again....
- It doesn't matter what Clinton did. If you want to hold Clinton accountable for what he did, more power to you. No matter what Clinton did, it does not excuse Bush. Yes, people are hypocritical if they weren't outraged when Clinton did the same things, but that DOESN'T MATTER. Bush is in the spotlight right now for things he is doing right now.
- I'm all for wiretapping potential terrorists, but get a damn warrant first. Nobody important is upset about wiretapping itself if there is a valid reason for it and the proper rule of law is followed.
- If you want to operate under the same guiding principles as the terrorists, please feel free to strap a bomb to yourself, run into a group of al-Qaeda operatives and innocent people, and blow yourself straight to hell. - Wiini, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5And with a local election you have the added benefit of your vote actually making a difference!
- an0nymous, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5Anybody here defending Berger? Nope.
You defending Bush? - inactive, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5I vote in every local election. It's far more convenient when you have mail-in ballots that show up way in advance of the election and actually give you a chance to research the candidates (and issues up for vote).
- TheHydrogens, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5To recap on jetboyterp's comment:
1. B-b-b-but Clinton!
2. How come you can't name the people that the government has wiretapped without warrants or any kind of oversight or open records?
3. If we don't do this, the terrorists win! - cherwilco, on 11/16/2007, -0/+5I think he meant degauss the hard drives. as in use a magnetic field to clear the HD's contents
- bcamp1973, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5it's because the douche bag's gophers have finally finished shredding all the evidence...
- hydrodev, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5"Why are the Democrats aiding and abetting this creep? What do they get out of this or what does BushCo have on them?"
because they are all in cahoots. The only reason is they seem to be such bitter enemies is to keep all of us sheep fighting amongst ourselves..."LIBS this NEOCONS that DEMS this REPS that", So they can have anal sex with all our moms, and run the country in a way that keeps them all rich and powefull Wake up, its our complacency that is the real problem with this country. - TheSabre, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4You joined the military voluntarily.... does that work for you?
- erkokite, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4And yet you replied anyway...
- ne0shell, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4Aim low??? Are you really that ill-informed? According to the sworn deposition of AT&T technicians the NSA installed search appliances directly on the fiber links which tie all internet and phone traffic together for the entire USA and much of the world. (I'll bet you weren't aware that most of the worlds telecom traffic passes through US data-centers) These aren't targeted, individual taps made with court ordered approval - these are devices which tap everything and everyone, recording conversations and flagging those which contain certain keywords. I know your response would be something along the lines of "if you're not doing anything wrong who cares...." which is pure idiocy for anyone who hopes to live in a free nation. Allowing things like this has led to no warrant searches of homes and persons, secret indictments based on evidence the defendant is not allowed to see nor hire a lawyer nor have a day in court to defend against. Anything and anyone can be labeled a terrorist now thanks to the laws the traitors in congress and the senate have passed. You think you're standing up against terrorism but you're not. You're standing up for the worst of all terrorism - state sponsored tyranny and oppression. By surrendering the freedoms of the USA we've surrendered the entire world. The people who call themselves "republicans and democrats" and use the media to get you to submit are not Americans who support the constitution. They are invaders, secret agents of tyranny and traitors. Quit being stupid, please.
- d1a1s1, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4This ***** is ridiculous....like he's doing us a favor. What an *****...Bush is the ONLY man I can say I truly and undeniably hate. I can understand why some people dont want to know whats going on in this country, ignorance is bliss.
- NCSUspoon, on 11/15/2007, -1/+5Dude, you are really not helping your cause. Spammers are just irritating, not thought provoking.
- outkaster, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4So does that mean they are done disposing of all the evidence?
- mejason69, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4Means they have have disposed of the evidence!
