The 'surge' was never intended to be long-term, and in fact, could not be sustained for more than a year. The generals said that going in. So this 30k troops is just the surge ending, not a troop cut as BushCo would like you to believe. The fact is, they're pushing this surge to the limit of sustainability, not cutting anyone a break.
Kind of reminds me of the government taking my money all year and then giving me a refund in April. A refund? Wow. It's my lucky day!
