Bush tells Miers to give Congress the finger by phone, instead of in person

freep.com — Miers was still expected to attend the House Judiciary Committee meeting, despite the president ’s executive privilege claim – though it was unclear whether she would have discussed the forced resignations of the U.S. attorneys. According to the House Judiciary Committee, White House Counsel Fred Fielding told Miers not to attend the hearing.
