- YeahDonkey, on 02/06/2009, -13/+413You know who takes off their jacket when they are inside an office?
PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY TRYING TO GET SOME WORK DONE.
That's why they can only find one picture of Bush with his off, he needed to look like he was actually doing something besides flirting with the ugly girl so she will do all his reading for him....just like Yale. - poopsybythebay, on 02/06/2009, -29/+262What a shocker--ANOTHER Bush official tells a LIE. Also, everyone knows that hypocrisy is every Republicans favorite hobby.
- Cararan, on 02/06/2009, -12/+207Here is Obama response:
http://i37.tinypic.com/2ue3cpx.gif - granolajoe, on 02/06/2009, -12/+176Ok. So beside the fact that you are one of the most bitterly vocal right-wingers on Digg, is there another reason you are venting about Huffington Post and not about Andrew Card for starting this trivial nonsense in the first place?
- kp998, on 02/06/2009, -10/+137If Card didn't bring it up HufPo would have no need to challenge it. Debacle sounds like a word Card would use.
- waxcrash, on 02/06/2009, -9/+126Come on, give Bush a break. It the photo, the hot and sexy Harriet Miers is sitting next to him. Who wouldn't take off their coat (and more) if she was next to them? Come on Harriet, show some more leg for Bushy.
- ScienceDoc, on 02/06/2009, -6/+105They talk as if they had respect for the office and the Country. They are pathetic misguided liars. It does not matter what they wore, they trashed the Country. Greedy bastards.
- c010rb1indusa, on 02/06/2009, -6/+85For god's sake the Bush administration can't even critisize the dress code without lying and hypocracy
- inactive, on 02/06/2009, -6/+70You forgot to mention, he's an arrogant douchetroll with no governance over what the irrational parts of his mind keep forcing him to post, so he's not a valid part of any discussion in any case.
- DD2CC2U, on 02/06/2009, -6/+70The GOP is the party of trying the same old ideas and policies over and over again. Even if their plans are a bust they pretend the results were good. it is no wonder the United States is almost a basket case since the Republicans continue to hold up progress on a wide range of issues.
- OMGIAMTHEMAN, on 02/06/2009, -3/+67I wonder what Card thinks of Reagan's bright red cowboy shirt
- WillieLynch, on 02/06/2009, -2/+61They also used to adorn powdered wigs. Tradition!
- inactive, on 02/06/2009, -0/+52He sure is a cool glass of water.
- inactive, on 02/06/2009, -3/+53More like crippling addiction.
- 4321234, on 02/06/2009, -4/+54You left out "clueless *****".
- RyanCoke, on 02/06/2009, -0/+47If I was president, you'd all be lucky if I wore pants.
- stevensj2, on 02/06/2009, -4/+51But Bush has glasses on.
Technically, they're a face jacket. With very small sleeves. - rald84, on 02/06/2009, -4/+45dugg for insight
- SteveLRowe, on 02/06/2009, -4/+42Why does that creep me out
- awinters, on 02/06/2009, -4/+42This is like the Daily Show clip last night that showed the contradictions between what Republicans said about rebuilding the infrastructure of Iraq and the rebuilding the infrastructure of America. I agree with Jon Stewart. It's as if these people don't think we actually keep tapes of their quotes and pictures of them from previous administrations.
- inactive, on 02/06/2009, -7/+43Just as many, if not more "angry voters" are "jamming phone lines" in support of a recovery package. The same voters that elected President Obama! This jacket only deal is just another example of the BS, and lies from the Bush Admin.- and far right fanatics...
- inactive, on 02/06/2009, -2/+34WHO CARES!?
- pnunn, on 02/06/2009, -2/+34I love that you point out the irrelevance of this jacket fiasco yet seem unable to acknowledge the out of whack priorities of an ex-Bush staffer in starting such a conversation in the first place.
- Leprince, on 02/06/2009, -1/+32Because of the slow-motion?
- SpoonMSU, on 02/06/2009, -2/+31I wish Bush would have taken the economy, foreign policy, human rights, America's world image, checks and balances, etc etc etc just as seriously.
- bigp3rm, on 02/06/2009, -5/+33alanocu you sure get dug down alot in your posts. Maybe you should find another site?
- Calcularius, on 02/06/2009, -2/+28It was your boy who brought the ***** up, asshat.
- ClosedCaption, on 02/06/2009, -2/+27MrFoos - 2 dems dont pay taxes and suddenly, in your feeble mind, you believe that ALL DEMS dont pay thier taxes. I know who failed logic class.
- digger0007, on 02/06/2009, -7/+32These people who ignores the truth and see only what they want to see has caused enough havoc in the world. The searched for WMD and found nothing, but they went to war anyway.
While millions of Americans are suffering from the worst economy since the Great Depression, they continue to distract the world with dress code, and hypocritical remarks about respecting the office and the constitution. Where was this respect when torture was signed into law? Where was this respect when privacy was invaded, and erased from the lives of the American people? Where was this respect when elections were manipulated and stolen?
Apology from GOP? Don't hold your breath. They still believe in WMD. They don't see anything wrong with what they have done. That's the scariest danger...when these powerful people are blind, and driving the rest of us over the cliff with them.
GOP senators and congress should be recalled today. Don't wait for 2010. - OptionalPirate, on 02/06/2009, -0/+24I take my kids to school, I don't lose my temper, it's my only rule, I keep it cool.
- IphtashuFitz, on 02/06/2009, -2/+26By your arguments, Ronald Reagan must thought the office was a joke since there's a photo of him in that article wearing a red shirt without even so much as a tie. Not to mention the fact that there are also pictures of JFK, Carter, Ford, Clinton, AND your own George W Bush all working in the office without wearing a jacket and looking quite casual.
- drmangrum, on 02/06/2009, -0/+22We're in one of the largest economic crises of all time. The US's image has a black eye. The world is swirling around the bowl as it's being flush and people are concerned if the man in charge is wearing a jacket or not?
Seriously? Find your ***** priorities people.
The man could work in Barney one-piece pajama set complete with Elmo slippers for all that it matters. Actually, I would probably respect him even more. A sense of humor goes a long way. - IphtashuFitz, on 02/06/2009, -2/+24OMGWTFBBQ! Regan wasn't even wearing a TIE!!! No wonder he was such a lousy president!
/s - Stavrosian, on 02/06/2009, -1/+22It only counts when the other team does it.
- FredFredrickson, on 02/06/2009, -3/+24If you had it your way, they wouldn't be paying those taxes anyway - all you guys want is tax cuts for the rich, after all.
- pathouston22, on 02/06/2009, -2/+23I am staying off your lawn.
- oldhick, on 02/06/2009, -6/+27Personally, when I grew up their was an etiquette to wearing a suit. I'm sure most people today find such things irrelevant or silly, but some, like me, still follow these codes out of respect for tradition. When I was raised, being a gentlemen was of the utmost importance. Further, I had only one suit and was taught to wear it correctly and with some reverence as we wouldn't have been able to afford another. As I've grown and had the opportunity to buy my own suits, I find I still feel a sense of honor in wearing them correctly.
You always wear your suit coat when entering a room. Carrying it over an arm or in hand is bad for the suit coat and is a sign of disrespect (if you're wearing a suit it's because you're in a formal setting and you should therefor respect the formal setting). If you will be seated for an extended period of time (possibly hours), it's necessary to ask permission and then to hang your suit coat.
Now with that out of the way... Who cares? Everyone has a different style. Since Obama is the President, he sets the standard and anyone entering the Oval Office should respect the standard he sets. - thelab101, on 02/06/2009, -1/+21it's a suit man, it has no universal implication whatsoever.
obama can wear a polyester leisure suit that's encrusted with ground up bits of a disco ball if he wants, as long as he does the job well. - jftitan, on 02/06/2009, -1/+21the exact same can be said about your Republicans. Stop being a dumbass, and realize saying one party does it, and the other doesn't is totally untrue.
- richgustavson, on 02/06/2009, -2/+21Bush who?
- JDoorjam, on 02/06/2009, -3/+21He probably likes the negative attention. A sort of "thank you sir, may I have another?" type thing.
- LikesFood, on 02/06/2009, -1/+19If by "too casual," you mean "actually focused on the goals/issues/problems/concerns of our nation," then yes... Obama is "too casual."
- Insightful, on 02/06/2009, -3/+19Insightful digs you for being insightful.
- hokie47, on 02/06/2009, -1/+17While I don't think they should you should sport a t-shirt in the office, but when is a dress shirt with a tie is not formal enough? You got to be kidding me.
- Chahrlie5, on 02/06/2009, -4/+20Tackling the important issues I see.
Seriously get the ***** over it, he's not pres anymore and this sure as ***** isn't the most pressing matter. - ViolentVirtue, on 02/06/2009, -9/+25Where does a 500-pound gorilla sit?
- inactive, on 02/06/2009, -0/+16You haven't got a brain, eh?
- jiggawatt, on 02/06/2009, -1/+16I dugg you up because you have a point, and I'm not proud that the democrats didn't stand up more against some of the idiotic ideas of Bush's admin, however, I also recall the atmosphere against dissent around those times and how the Bush administration time-and-time again promoted successfully this mindset against dissent of the war or funding it, because if you do that means you hate america, and you hate the troops. I wanted to scream everytime I saw this manipulation being played out and whipping opposing views into submission, but god damn I wish there had been more spine against it. In typical politician creed they were looking out for their own ass in re-election season rather than doing their service to the country and to their constituents as a whole, not just the loudest ones.
- theaceoffire, on 02/06/2009, -8/+22I assume Rosie O'Donnell has a forklift.
- snareguy17, on 02/06/2009, -1/+15It's true, and here's a good case in point. I work for a law office and all the attorneys that wear the suit coats in the office are walking around trying to act flashy that they have a ton of money. The attorneys that make the SAME amount of money and have their jackets off and button up shirts with sleeves rolled up are actually getting ***** done.
