- sunroom, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2It's unfortunate that Bush's vetoes are stifling any progress that congress is trying to make. This unfairly reflects on congress.
- DJPhoenix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Why is this comment getting Diggs when the Congress article did make the front page?
- pikpikcarrotmon, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4At least Nixon was, upon reflection, a most excellent president. Bush... not so much.
- schuder, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Nixon warned against the Gulf War being about "democracy" and all this BS. Bush is no real Republican. Nixon would have ***** Saddam seven ways to Sunday, stole his oil, and be done with the whole nasty scenario. A paranoid mess yes, but hey he got the job done.

- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2Actually they're about the same, which is probably why Jimmy won't shut up about him. Jimmy had awful domestic policy and okay foreign policy (not great, just mediocre), same as Bush has.
- brufleth, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Uh...what?
Bush has TERRIBLE foreign policies. Unilateral invasions of sovereign countries in already anti-American regions!?! That's like sticking your head in a bees nest because you think it'd make a cool hat.
Domestically he's been a train wreck with the wire taps and regressive social reforms.

- Snarfy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7By reading the comments here I think the percentage is a LOT higher.
- mdoom, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2hey its improvement, i mean, it used to be double that. I mean, 52%..isn't that about the percentage of people who elected this guy into office for a second term?

- mdoom, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2hey its improvement, i mean, it used to be double that. I mean, 52%..isn't that about the percentage of people who elected this guy into office for a second term?
- dgaspard, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7If we think of a bell curve 66% is the norm so 33%/2 = 16.5% is just simply stupid. The other 10% are just the lowest of the norm.
- TheDecn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Innacurate...at least 50% of America is stupid based upon the fact that 50+% of this great nation approved of him before he was re-elected. I for one can't excuse the other 24% just because they've changed their minds.

- Snarfy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7By reading the comments here I think the percentage is a LOT higher.
- SnowOxx, on 10/11/2007, -6/+14They have the same survey on msn.com. It also says that the congress' approval rating is also at its lowest. The people both don't agree with the pres or congress, so don't single one side out.
- bentman78, on 10/11/2007, -6/+32Still, as low as it is for this guy, let's now ignore Congress. They're at a high 14% approval rating.....
- rcook18, on 10/11/2007, -5/+6You are in the wrong article. Bushies were told to pound on the 14% congress approval rating article.
- bentman78, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@rcook18
Doesn't matter what article it is...fact is fact. I wasn't told to pound anything. I can see a Democratically controlled Congress isn't any better than President Chucklenuts. Point being....***** is on both sides....YOu can point the finger at one, but it's ironic how liberals forget that well....they suck too.
- tacklebox, on 10/11/2007, -11/+23The approval rating of the democratic congress is just as low. People are sick of government and people bitching about it.
- JimW311, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2I doubt that, where is your source. Digg down.
- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Hey Moron, where have you been for the last month and a half? Congress' approval rating has been hovering at around 26% for that long, and just this week dipped down to 14%. Which means that pretty much the entire government has zero to nil support from the public.
- otheruser, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3It's like this:
People have very low confidence in Congress because Congress can't get anything done.
Congress can't get anything done because the President keeps vetoing legislation.
The best way to get Bush out of the way would be through impeachment.
People think that impeaching Bush is too rash a decision, Congress thinks that impeaching Bush is too rash a decision.
Bush will remain in power, and so will the status quo. Nothing will ever be accomplished.
People will bitch/moan more. - brufleth, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Apparently there is a reply threshold or I would be replying to otheruser.
That sounds about right. Our government is stuck. Democrats have a majority in congress but certainly no where near 2/3 which is required to overcome a presidential veto so Bush can put a 100% stop on congress and congress is too pansy to impeach Bush. It isn't like impeachment is immediately firing the president. He'd probably still finish his term. It would weaken him politically maybe and be a censure. Won't happen though.
Things will continue sucking. Some new ass hat will get elected (probably Guliani or McCain) who will continue the same BS. Is there a real solution to this problem? Open revolt isn't going to happen and voting, calling your congressman, etc isn't going to do anything. We need a reboot of government. Could the UN send in troops?- moin1097, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1The un doesn't have any troops. The just send the US on "peace keeping" missions where there's no peace to be kept and then whine when our soldiers have to use their guns.
- digginestdog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Considering that he's only used three vetoes so far, one coming just this past week, and two on the same issue (stem cell research), I don't think that's any excuse for congress having such a low level of success/approval. I'm satisfied with the explanation that our government in general just plain sucks.
- otheruser, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3It's like this:
- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Hey Moron, where have you been for the last month and a half? Congress' approval rating has been hovering at around 26% for that long, and just this week dipped down to 14%. Which means that pretty much the entire government has zero to nil support from the public.
- amdahlj, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2People aren't sick about people bitching about government, they're bitching about government. Hence the low approval ratings and general lack of confidence in government.
- JimW311, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2I doubt that, where is your source. Digg down.

Bush will never go willingly. They'll have to drag him out by his heals.- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3and i'll hang a picture of that over my fireplace, alongside my print of the United States Constitution
- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4He'll never be impeached so it won't matter. Congress will ride out the last year or so and then let Bush fade into the background.
- girishso, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Looks like we've no such luck with GW
- mccrusc, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Oh snap!
- pugnator, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1This may sound crazy, but I'd rather Bush as president rather than Cheney.
- Vitrophyric, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0If they were going to impeach him, they'd definitely do both Bush and Cheney at the same time. I bet the Dems are scared of looking like it's a power grab to make Pelosi president, so they won't do it unless the scandals somehow get worse than they already are. But if he's already ruined an entire country and claimed more dictatorial power than a medieval English king, and he's still in office, I wonder what could possibly get them to throw him out.
- InetRoadkill, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9He only did so because his aids told him he had no chance of surviving an impeachment.

- ScrewedThePooch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It is higher. Look how many people voted for this ***** for a second term. The difference now is that everyone finally realizes they were idiots (which doesn't help us much now)
- Faubio, on 10/11/2007, -8/+11He's still not worse than Congress.
- rcook18, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Worse for the country or worse approval rating?
- Vitrophyric, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0What's so bad about Congress now? At least they're actually investigating and issuing subpoenas to shed some light on the ridiculously shady way the Bush administration runs the government. They're using every power they have a majority for, aside from their cowardly backing down on the withdrawal tmetables.
- PeterSlinger, on 10/11/2007, -6/+12"It's hard work" -- Bush repeated that idiotically during the presidential debates. It really must be hard work to create such political uncertainty and hate, line your chums’ pockets with cash, and rape the remaining Americans.
- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3The only people creating the hate are the extremes on both sides. Your Hillary Clintons, Moveon.orgs, Anne Coulters, and Rush Limbaughs are fueling the fire. Most americans don't buy that crap and are angry at BOTH sides for letting whats happened keep going on.
- ScrewedThePooch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2New party please. Republicans and Democrats both suck balls.
- devikwolf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0@PeterSlinger
Not to mention near-constant vacation for the first year in office.
@both responders:
Agreed and AGREED. We need to get the country out of this two-party mentality. The world does not fall entirely into one or the other of these two categories. There's all sorts of middle ground, split issues, etc.

Here, let me say this so the cubical monkey action committee can hear it loud and clear:
Only a ***** moron would support Congress by digging down their mega ***** approval rating.
It's now confirmed. Digg is full of partisan morons with bad compulsive obsessive disorders.- otheruser, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2You too sound like a "partisan moron with bad compulsive obsessive disorders". Mouthing off people who disagree with you is an excellent way to exhibit that.
Anyways, Congress's low rating is a reflection of a POOR government. Their rating is low because they can't get legislation passed, they can't get legislation passed because Bush keeps vetoing it. Bush keeps vetoing it because he's an idiot. And the cycle repeats.
- otheruser, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2You too sound like a "partisan moron with bad compulsive obsessive disorders". Mouthing off people who disagree with you is an excellent way to exhibit that.
- cheddarlump, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Is this really news to you? :)

- CourtesyFlush, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2No it's not news.
- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Ditto. The only reason I still come to digg is because it reaffirms that I made the right choice NOT being some liberal progressive weenie. (I'm not a conservative either. More of a moderate)
- otheruser, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"The only reason I still come to digg is because it reaffirms that I made the right choice NOT being some liberal progressive "
I consider myself e a "liberal progressive", with regards to my outlook on policies and affairs. Yet I too am dissatisfied with the workings of the current Congress.
Progressive are, by definition, open-minded and pro-reform. No where does it say we're bound to the Democratic Congress.
Before you pass blanket judgments, think about what you're saying.- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Hahaha. I am. (and you're severly misinformed about what progressivism is if you think they're just 'open minded' and 'pro reform') Progressivism has destroyed our republic. Everything about it flies in the face of the intentions of the Founders. It is a blight in this nation and it WILL lead to our downfall. (progressivism and therefore multiculturalism are tearing apart everything that made this country great. I mean, just look at how far down the toilet we've gone since progressives took power during the great depression)
- kufu91, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1because a cookie cutter culture is what was intended by the founders? because thats what made/makes America great? so much for American melting pot

- amdahlj, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Congress has lower approval ratings because it was elected to end the war on Iraq and to stand up to Bush and did not. Congress' low approval rating reflects negtively on Bush, not positively.
- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Actually it does not reflect on him at all (positively or negatively). It reflects only on the dems in congress, as they proved to the people that elected them that they can't believe what the politicians tell them. THAT's why their approval ratings are so low.
- CourtesyFlush, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6Oh, I'm sorry, am I ruining this little anti Bush rally with facts and statistics that show a Democrat lead Congress is doing a WORSE JOB than a chimp?
- InetRoadkill, on 10/11/2007, -4/+69Bush at 26% and Congress at 14%.
I think it's official at this point. Our government sucks ass. Time to start over.- laserblazer, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2Whoever Dugg you down sucks goat ***** off of *****-stumps for kicks.
- Jerim, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I suggest a Squirrellocracy.
- Arcesius, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I bet a bunch of squirrels in power would have a higher approval rating than these two branches combined... which would be 40% for those too lazy/stupid to add it...
- mccrusc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Revolution!
- MrKrinkleDude, on 10/11/2007, -8/+7Look at the bright side, he's far more popular than Congress. ;-)
- sephiroth965, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3That's because congress can't get anything done on the count of Bush constantly increasing the power of the executive branch while vetoing everything they do right.
- brufleth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2The presidential veto seems to be over powered because Bush has ideas so completely different from the majority of Americans. The current congress is a more accurate representation of the American people (more recently elected, more of them for mixed ideas, etc) than the president yet the president effectively counts for 2/3*congress. So unless there is HUGE support for something it isn't going to happen. Normally you hope the person who is president isn't so bat ***** insane.
- williamdyer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Much in the way that herpes is more "popular" than prostate cancer.
- kelchm, on 10/11/2007, -8/+10His approval rating just keeps plunging from 26% to 26%.
[aaaand wasn't it at 23% a few weeks ago?] - whatever1, on 10/11/2007, -11/+36not low enough...

- DJPhoenix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1They did mention a 4 point margin of error. I'm going to assume those 4 points are negative and give another few percentage of our population the benefit of the doubt. Hooray 22%
- davidlitts, on 10/11/2007, -4/+41When can I vote to Impeach the entire government?
- sephiroth965, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You don't have to. There's actually no paperwork involved in starting a local revolution! It's THAT easy!
- accidental, on 10/11/2007, -7/+41Worst.. President.. Ever
- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -7/+3HA! Don't kid yourself. We started this downtrend under Roosevelt, the great Socialist pig of American History. Thanks to Frankie D, we have crap like welfare, social security and other resource-sapping government departments and programs. (programs which should be funded and controlled by STATES not the Federal government) HE was the worst president in history, and he will be remembered for destroying whatever was left of the founding ideals.
- davidlitts, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I have to agree with you. SS and other "pork belly" programs started with him.
- Mengoxon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9well, whether you're socialist or capitalist - I think anyone can argue that a 1 Trillion Dollar war with no benefit whatsoever is more resource-sapping than any welfare program or government department.
Annual US military spending: $505 B, US welfare spending: $400B- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Oh yeah I agree about that. But at least funding warfare was enumerated in the constitution, unlike welfare, which was a huge overreaction to the great depression. (oh and regardless of whether we're at war, the defense budget would probably be that high anyways)
- Mengoxon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1uh... ok... so everything in the constitution is... good...?
Look it's just a piece of paper our great-great-great-grandpas wrote. Nothing like the 10 Commandments descended from God or something... You wanna do some guys 200 years ago do all the thinking for you?
- OriginalLucid1, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Two words...Jimmy Carter. And, this.writing.style. is so over.
- Jerim, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1People label Bush the worst because he is fresh and on everyone's minds. If you actually take a look back, I think you could find some presidents who were at least as bad. Give it about 10 years after he leaves office for the dust to settle, before we go labeling him this or that. I am not saying he will getter with time, but that knee jerk reactions aren't logical.
- devikwolf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Why digg him down for being logical? Dugg for a very well-crafted opinion
- mccrusc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Everybody knows Harding was the worst president ever... he said so himself. "I am not fit for this office and never should have been here."
- ScrewedThePooch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Bush needs to say this.
- devikwolf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Damn, I was going to say that myself!
America: The Book even includes an essay on how much Warren G Harding sucked.

- nickerbocker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5On what grounds do we have to impeach him? He hasn't received any blow jobs from interns. Isn't that what we impeach Presidents for?
- deags, on 10/11/2007, -15/+6it is too ***** late now you dumb yanks.

You have no idea how most of American people live, day to day, like everyone else in the world.
Making random despairing comments about things you have NO idea about does not promote your ability to comment. - pugnator, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Not everybody voted for Bush you know.
- laserblazer, on 10/11/2007, -5/+13Get ready for this cretinous traitor to spend his lame-duck period making his already odious track-record look tame in comparison.
Only force will stop this traitor, and between the legions of the damned that still support him and the NWO's global influence, no force will be brought to bear against him.- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -8/+1Because no Force can be brought against him. Despite what the progressive moonbats might think, it would be illegal to start a rebellion against this government, because, as a whole, they have not broken any laws that would allow for their forcible removal. (and you can't just remove the president by Force, as YOU would be the traitor since he was legally elected) The constitution only makes provisions for the ENTIRE government to be removed, something which could never happen. (even the founders knew it when they included it in the constitution)
- laserblazer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I'm tired of the lie that the Bush administration hasn't done anything to justify their removal. Stop repeating it.
- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1It isn't a lie. And even if it were true, then congress (all of them, even your 'saviors' that are in control of congress right now) would be complicit. Face it, you can't just bring him down, you'd have to bring down all of them. Without just cause (of which none exists) it would be treason.
- sephiroth965, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4It IS a lie! The Bush administration has repeatedly shat all over the constitution to increase the power of the executive branch.
- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -8/+1Because no Force can be brought against him. - gnyd, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1226%? Can there really be that many deaf, dumb, blind people in the US?
Well, at least the Albanians like him. Do they have internet, or newspapers?- laserblazer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5They cherry-picked their Albanian supporters just like they did with the 'purple thumb' chapter in Iraq.
Lies and carefully filmed propaganda is all this administration has.- JHB800, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1Of ***** off, you're not welcome here you moonbat.
- geejspot, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Wasn't there a movie about such, Wag the Dog? I don't remember. But it was about the government making something all up with Albanian.
- devikwolf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The Albanian support of Bush was carefully-orchestrated, another example of lies and propaganda put forth from the administration (and, in the interest of fairness, the extreme-left groups as well).
- laserblazer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5They cherry-picked their Albanian supporters just like they did with the 'purple thumb' chapter in Iraq.
- 80hd, on 10/11/2007, -5/+11I've been noticing fewer Bush Cheney bumper stickers. though I still see an Kerry Edwards occasionally. I think we've hit the point where is it shameful to support GW despite ones devotion to being a republican.
- minox, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3If you still have a Kerry Edwards sticker on your car, you're a bigger loser than they they are.
- Jerim, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1I have said repeatedly that I was a huge Bush supporter. First time he ran, he looked like our dream candidate. It looked like he was going to institute education reform, welfare reform, immigration reform and work on improving the economy. Then 9/11 and his brain went in one direction only. Even still, I supported the Iraq invasion. It was a great opportunity to really institute a working Democratic nation in the heart of the Middle East. Help them start elections. Show them how to change the system through demonstrations, and rallies instead of bloody coups. Show them how to create an economy from supply chains, to advertising to production. Just like in America, put a system in place where every citizen can start their own business. I even thought we should call on some the top companies in America to spend one year in Iraq helping to establish mirror images of themselves. Coca-Cola would help the Iraq's start a beverage company. Show them how to obtain ingredients, how to mix the beverages, how to package them, how to ship them and sale them. I think we had the perfect opportunity to create a mirror image of our country, with all its various facets. Give the Iraqis more important things to do, such as making money rather than just fighting. That would have gone a long way toward providing lasting peace in the Middle East. But no, Bush just wants to play war with his little green men. So I, and a lot of Republicans abandoned him.
- 80hd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I think what happened to Bush is that he's dead set on creating action, and sets a good number of great sounding goals. However he always lets the tail wag the dog (sorry about the tired cliche). It seems that with him, a side effect of a proposal is what he was really concerned with after all.
I mean, in Iraq, we wanted Hussein and democracy. We got the man, have proven that democracy isn't going to be stable unless it's at gunpoint which defeats the purpose and yet, we continue to pour billions into this war.
It's entirely likely that spending money was the true undisclosed goal and security was the pretext that we all bought.

- drealane8, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3Honestly, what does he care? It's not like he has to get reelected. Why couldn't he have been unpopular during the last election? Could have saved us all some trouble...
- ScrewedThePooch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1He WAS unpopular in the last election, but Kerry was ***** also. If some people hadn't been so concerned that Kerry would have been just as bad, this never would have happened. The Democrats ***** themselves in the ass on that one.

Take a look at congressional approval ratings. They are not doing much better- CourtesyFlush, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3Just WHO are the tards supporting Congress by trying to hide their crappy approval ratings?
Could it be that the partisan hacks of Digg don't want anyone to know that their heroes are stinking up DC worse than the President? - tehnico, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3No, the democrats and libs of America are pissed. They elected them to congress and the senate, and they are all being big ***** pussies. That is why the disapproval rating of the congress is so low, they aren't doing what their constituents voted them in to do. They aren't ending the war. If they had any balls or backbone, they'd say, "***** your veto, we are just gonna keep sending the same bill with time-lines in until you approve it."
Democrats are so afraid of being called pussies that they act like pussies. It's the one thing that their voters hate about them and the GOP knows how to exploit it. - bovox, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2This argument in response to Bush's dismal approval ratings is such a Red Herring. The only polls that matter regarding a U.S. Senator are polls that consist of that senator's constituents -- i.e., polling voters in Nevada in the case of Harry Reid.
Harry Reid has a 48% approval rating in reality.

- edebolt, on 10/11/2007, -7/+460 years ago Harry Truman was the least popular president and his record still stands in 2007.
Truman was a farm boy who failed in the furniture business. Had no political future until FDR took him under his wing. Was a terrible speaker with dorky vocabulary. Did not care about public opinion surveys. Took big steps in strengthening power in intelligence and military. CIA, NSA. Took a preemptive approach to foreign affairs. Truman doctrine, Marshall Plan, NATO, UN. Went to war in Korea when civil war broke out and lost 58K US lives and the military is still there today. Sound familar?
Wikipedia 2007. Truman rated top 10 US president by historians.
Wikipedia 2050? Bush rated? Well I hope its not as high as Truman or else aging Diggers will be sucking on Bongs like there is no tomorrow. With any luck MJ will be legal by then and they will not go Nukin futz. - DragonGirl724, on 10/11/2007, -6/+52 other interesting stats about 26% of Americans:
