Politicians need to go. Get some damn patriots in the office.- Drogoganor, on 11/08/2007, -4/+14Why do republicans always need to bring up congress? Is it so they can feel better about supporting a ***** president?
- Puppetfunk, on 11/08/2007, -2/+5Why do they bring up Congress? It's the layout is pretty much 51/49 so some of that blame is on Repubs, plus Bush swats down every bill that comes out of there so they make no progress.
- da420, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2You're an idiot. Congress makes laws, and are also doing nothing about the war in Iraq. It was unconstitutional to go to war with Iraq, and the one group of people that can change it is picking their ***** nose. Of course we are going to bring up congress!

- nakani, on 11/08/2007, -1/+1Yup. It tries to create some "cosmic justice" by balancing everyone out. Unfortunately, in practice, a large number of people are completely worthless as human beings and we just end up carrying their dead weight. Just look at how our welfare system is being abused and draining money from hard-working Americans if you want a picture of how badly we could screw up by further increasing the scope of federal public services.
I have noticed that these nearly socialist countries such as the Netherlands and Sweden are doing decently for themselves. Probably has something to do with the fact that 90% of the people are voting in every election. I mean, any form of economy/gov't is going to do much better with that high of a citizen participation.

- zeromancer, on 11/12/2007, -3/+23i was arguing with my dad about the current state of the union and I asked him how he justifies the trillions of dollars that have been spent. Now mind you, he's been teaching AP government and high school history classes for 30 years, so he knows his *****. But get this. He tells me that it's worth it because it's the cost of security today. I promptly called him a sheep.
But that made me think. I've realized that the amount of "protection" your government provides for you is inversely proportional to your freedoms. just a thought.- skews13, on 11/08/2007, -1/+7you can be told by the government, that for yor own protection.you have to surrender your freedoms.at that point we are no longer america, and it doesn't matter about your security any longer.
- saehn, on 11/08/2007, -1/+8Tell your dad the old one attributed to (but probably not written by) Ben Franklin: "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.".
- cmpshotty, on 11/08/2007, -9/+3Your rebuttal to his 30 years of teaching class and his argument was to call him names? Bravo.
- MindTrigger, on 11/08/2007, -2/+2*****... the SHORTCUT route is to take away liberty for security. It doesn't have to be this way, it's just easier. The security is a joke anyway. Our wide open southern borders are a true testament to how much of a sham Homeland Security is. Ask you dad what he thinks about the other major issues we face in this country. Infrastructure falling apart, health care, social security, dependence on oil, privatization of war, sinking economy, etc, etc. Is that all worth the cost of false "security"?

- Soothsayer1, on 11/08/2007, -11/+0Wow..look at all the liberal fairies on this board. Suppose it isn't too surprising since the average age of a Digg user is..oh..about 16 years old.
Makes sense to bash the Conservatives and the military..since that takes funding away from welfare programs and what not :)- FearLess77, on 11/08/2007, -0/+2Ah, what a marvelous opportunity to apply the same stereotypical logic!
Let me guess, your a bush loving, gun owning, Muslim hating conservative? - rnwen2750, on 11/08/2007, -0/+1Actually, I read that the trend of becoming more conservative only occurs when people are getting older than 60 and starting to go senile.
- admdrew, on 11/08/2007, -0/+1It's good to see that instead of attempting to debunk any of the substantiated opinions others have added to this discussion, you're going to try to disassociate yourself from the logically accepted stance on our president by spouting whatever nonsensical ideas first came to you.
Seriously, when you attempt to have honest political discussions with your peers, what the hell do you even talk about? Do you lament that the 'average digg user', a 16 year old gawky loser, is more apt to provide honest and thoughtful discourse than you are?
If you're going to support a conservative side, at least do so with some intelligence. At the moment you're just hurting whatever cause you half-assedly support.

- elvisB, on 11/10/2007, -3/+5Actually, Bush has a 25% approval rating, Cheney and congress are around 10%. Best democracy money can buy! It's time to restore the republic. - Ekdog, on 11/08/2007, -0/+3The main reason people are pissed off at the Congress is that they haven't taken stronger actions against this corrupt, incompetent administration.
- x083, on 11/10/2007, -2/+15for those that don't know, or are completely oblivious to american politics. most congressmen, and senators are bought up by corporations, and are invited into social circles of politicans such as the CFR (council on foreign relations), and Bilderberg group, and Trilateral Commission. These organizations are a threat to the sovereignty of the american people and should be abolished. Nancy Pelosi for example, and Dick Cheney are both members of the council on foreign relations. So is barak obama, bill clinton, hillary clinton, mitt romney, duncan hunter, rudy guiliani, and joseph biden, john edwards.... so... why do you think ron paul raised 4.5 million in 1 day? could it perhaps be that his voting record is immaculate, and it represents, unheard of honesty, and integrity in the US house of represenatives that has not been seen in decades? Not to mention he does not take donations from corporations, and is not apart of the Council on Foreign Relations, Bilderberg Group, or Trilateral Commission. Let the truth be told, The Rockefellers and Rothschilds own North America, Europe, are trying to take over the middle east and central asia.. The last free countries in the world are Venezuela, Russia, Cuba, Iran, China, that are not apart of the New World Order.. which is nothing less than a globalized Debt Based Monetary system. The scariest part of it all is that they actively talk about reducing world human population by 80% in meetings. So do you think Dick is going to get Impeached by Nancy? Whether it's republican or democrat makes no difference anymore. Please educate yourself on these issues, and others. Do a Google video search for the films 'America freedom to fascism' and ' the money masters ' watch them for free... and then join in the fight for freedom.

- FearLess77, on 11/09/2007, -0/+2I think that to can be blamed on bush.
I'm sure the people who were asked to rate congress immediately associated congress with the government and also associate the government with bush, therefor did not approve.
:D - nakani, on 11/09/2007, -0/+3Because Congress is the only one who can do anything about it. We elected them for that reason, and so far they have NOT done anything about it.

- fixedcoma, on 11/08/2007, -0/+1I totally agree with you x083 ! Let;s also say they are going to suck up everyone elses oil and save our reserves for last to charge everyone out the ass! But probably by then the earth would probably cave in on itself cause we created all these open caverns deep underground from where oil used to be! So there pretty much won't be any oil lubricant for the techtonic plates therefore making earthquakes more worse all because these rich greedy bastards couldn't change the energy sources over to solar, wind and water generation! Just say the master told you so!! good luck with that!

- MarkEarhart, on 11/08/2007, -0/+3George W Bush and Dick Cheney have conspired against the American People, earning Bush the highest "strongly disapprove" rating in Gallup poll history. Richard Nixon had 48%, and he had the decency to resign. Bush and Cheney do not. Contact your Rep, House Majority Leader Hoyer, and House Speaker Pelosi demanding impeachment.
Criminal charges are also in order for them both. Both have conspired to commit treason and mass murder, and both have assaulted, rather than aspiring to defend, the Constitution of the United States, which they are sworn to defend upon being sworn into office.
Be sure to contact Fox news, even if you can’t stand to listen to the babbling idiots, and make your opinion known. Tell them to report the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, or face bankruptcy due to lack of interest. Ten reasons to impeach the President and Vice President - http://www.democrats.com/peoplesemailnetwork/88 - spenix, on 11/09/2007, -2/+2Polls are so flaky- I don't like him either but I know full well that if soldiers caught Osama tomorrow his numbers would hit 75% or better
- ringelman5, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1Bush isn't gonna rat out his buddy. At least not until after their vacation.
- jonr1, on 11/09/2007, -3/+0Wasn't this just here yesterday? I love seeing the same story day after day.
- Hyperion1144, on 11/09/2007, -0/+6Yay for Bush! He finally won a vote fair and square!

- ravenf, on 11/09/2007, -0/+4dang! who cares what the polls say. over half (rigged or not) of americans voted for this dope and what do you expect. half of you are just as dopey and that's the fact. If you don't like him, stop complaining all the time, digging this and digging that and do something! Replace all government people!!!
- Roger_Ramjet, on 11/09/2007, -1/+1What, no talk about the fact that CONGRESSIONAL approval ratings are even LOWER? Thought so.
- VinBea, on 11/09/2007, -1/+2Hey - you have to give GW Bush (and the Bush family in general) credit for having thick skin - either that, or they're so far above us all in their over all world view, they can't be touched? To globalists, Bush is a good thing - to everyone else (the cannon fodder, feeders, eaters, parasites - that's us gang!) Bush is a very bad thing.
- ringelman5, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1Untermenschen Uber Alles!!
yuk yuk - VinBea, on 11/10/2007, -0/+1untermenschen" (subhuman) - uber alles (above everything else) I'm sorry I understand German about as much as I do Spanish (Why's Spanish so hard to learn???) - is not this world view the same as mooslims? Mooslims and Bush see us all the same???
When it rains it pours!
- ringelman5, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1Untermenschen Uber Alles!!
- zebr, on 11/09/2007, -4/+1I still support bush. I refuse to support a democrat. I'd rather slit my wrists open and pour salt in the wound.
- jaewon223, on 11/09/2007, -0/+2that's pretty narrow minded of you. support someone who's issues closely follows what you believe. supporting someone purely based on political party is ignorant.
- ringelman5, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1If you truly mean that you support Bush's lies, policies(?), deceptions, and apparently treasonous behaviour, you really need to re-evaluate whether you'd be happier in China.
If you support the principles upon which this union of states was founded, then get thee behind Ron Paul.
He needs the support because reform he can't do all by himself.
- jaewon223, on 11/09/2007, -0/+2and rightly so
- mizeryschild, on 11/10/2007, -0/+0Why should it matter now? He'll be out of office in a year anyway.
