- kilooneniner, on 10/11/2007, -36/+322I guess he forgot the oath he made when he took office: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Someone should tell Bush to quit throwing that Commander-in-Chief ***** in their face cause it's just a goddamned title.- Magillicutti, on 10/11/2007, -6/+38I came here to see if anybody mentioned his oath. The article should have too.
- gameforge, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9The article mentions it: "Every federal official - including the President - who takes an oath of office swears to 'uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States.' "

- kazamx, on 10/11/2007, -8/+52The key piece of that speach is "to the best of my ability". GWB is totally incompetent
- Jacenjames, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I'll second that

- scubasteve377, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23Good call. As much as I hate Bush, you can't believe a god damned word you read from the Capital Hill Blue. Total ***** posing as a legitimate news outlet. Makes Faux News look like responsible journalists.
- texpundit, on 10/11/2007, -9/+10Mas, I totally agree with you...but it comes down to the point: it doesn't matter if he didn't actually *say* it...that's how he *treats* the Constitution...as do most of our elected officials...including those we *don't* elect...like the Supreme Court.
- donwilson2, on 10/11/2007, -7/+11WRONG.

Anyone?- CrackIsWack, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Kinda interesting to think about, though. Would we really believe a video, even? This day in age it's not hard to edit one to the desired effect. It used to be that "pictures don't lie," but with technology picture doctoring has become so easy even kids on myspace do it constantly with little effort. It's quickyl becoming that easy with video too.
Which raises another question: What's it going to take for something to be considered credible anymore? - maxtangent, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It's only real if you see it on television?

Seriously, what was the point of that comment? Are we supposed to just assume you know what you are talking about? I'm objective... I'll listen to reason, I'll read cited sources. What I won't listen to are people like you.
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -11/+5i am a citizen. this land is my home. in this land my father and mother were born. in this land are the graves of family passed on. in this land are my children born, and those of my brothers and sisters. in this land my children's children may be born - this land is our home. there is no shame in this.
this land is home.
when i was born there was, i have since learned, countless actions men had already taken that worked against the spirit of all men. this does not mean we should do away with the actions men had taken that had worked to lift the spirit of all men.
we were free, at least as far as i knew. the constitution was such a wise, imperfect as is the testament of man, but solid enough foundation for society to provide a general happiness in living within it. i tasted that ideal of freedom, savored the flavor of liberty. weak or strong, it was real enough to appreciate in my own little world.
in reviewing the constitution and reading the most basic of our rights, we recognize ourselves as free beings in a world owned by no one. our rights are not favors that can be leased from a group of whispering men. liberty is a birthright. government can only be an open agreement among men, and can only have as much potential for positive effect as the partakers agree to be equal in mutual recognition and protection of liberty.
we are made from the dust of stars. the dust is not given by committee of man.
we are animate creatures energized by a star. the energy is not given by committee of man.
we are piloted by consciousness. the awareness of being is not given by committee of man.
we are because it is our birthright to be, each of us as equal as the other, each to lead their own life, harm none, and live unharmed, and come together to defend ourselves from harm. if that defense affects a denial to others of the liberty we are seeking to safeguard, it is no longer defense but offense - and that we have already agreed to deny ourselves to take part in, if we have truly recognized universal liberty.

All done now? K thanks now run catch aids and die ya bother me.- physphd, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5I honestly cannot tell whether you're lacking a /sarcasm or not. I can't say I've ever heard an adult retort that way and expect to be taken seriously. Ask yourself this: "How many people in my life take me seriously and care about my opinion?" I pity you.

- CrackIsWack, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3The melodrama in Knomevol's comment was barely bare-able. Then he had to throw some fictional character at the end and discredit all the rationality he spent about 4 paragraph's on. *sigh*
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1-chuckle-
so thoughts of God are irrational?
in this universe all things are real? that would make all things that are not be not-real. if one were to put those two things together do you have zero or one?
let's suppose one answers "zero" because one minus one is nothing. let's suppose one answers "one" because one minus a one that does not really exist is one.
many refer to one as God. some call it the Universe intending the meaning to encompass all that is. athiest or spiritual, does not matter, you are the same. one is one and zero cannot be because it is nothing.

etc... - PopcornDave, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8No, blame both parties for that kind of attitude. Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher compared the constitution to a little red dress she owned. She said that they were both old and out of style.

There's too many co-eds missing on tropical islands, pregnant mothers missing and children abducted every day to ever get something like that in to the media cycle. It came from this site:
http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artman/publish/article_7779.shtml
Then, the author of the news article issued a full retraction of the story:
http://www.truthout.org/docs_03/071003K.shtml
And then the site that published it issued a full apology:
http://omnipotentpoobah.blogspot.com/2005/12/great-big-cup-of-mea-culpa.html- milliebubba, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Thanks for the links. I knew CHB had issued a retraction, but I couldn't find it. People are right about one thing: There are enough TRUE stories about Bush without resorting to embellishment. The one true thing about this is that Mr. Bush certainly ACTS as though the sentiment is true.

- Fredtheviking, on 10/11/2007, -18/+56. Why is Bush being attacked? Because it helpful to Democratic Party and Poltics in general. Diggers don't get caught up in disinformation. Understand the agenda of the site's that are posting *****. Bush would not say such a thing. He is not that dumb. He would never openly admit to underminding the constitution. Also, the document that is constitution was written to be open to interpretion and how it understood today, is differnt than how it was understand in 1800. I don't think Bush has do anything that is unconstitutional. The fact is the legative branch of the government made laws that make the president much more powerful than the constitution intended. However such power granted by congress was constitional given. So there... plus I drunk and I apology for grammar.

- TomRitchford, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I agree entirely that the validity of this story is dubious, considering the single source and its reputation -- but I think you can only mark it as "unconfirmed" rather than "inaccurate", as there seems to be not one scrap of evidence that it *isn't* true (of course, it's extremely hard to prove a negative).
And really, would you be totally surprised if it were true? Aren't we all sure that's this is what Bush believes, deep in his heart?

- bubbagump, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7That's what's wrong with too many people in this country...don't give a ***** weather something is true or not...and don't care to take the time to find out before they start shooting their mouths off about it.
- NickSpinner, on 10/11/2007, -30/+39/11 was an inside job, vote ron paul 08
- ReadItAndWeep, on 10/11/2007, -5/+7As a supporter of Ron Paul, I wish all you 9/11 truthers would quit associating Ron Paul with your conspiracy theories. You're hurting his campaign.
- pictureDIGGER, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9I second that. I don't know why you are getting dugg down. Ron Paul does not believe 9/11 was an inside job, he believes all the facts should be declassified and a new investigation opened. I don't know why in the world anybody would be against a new investigation. It would cost less money than we spend in Iraq in a month I'd imagine, which some uneducated Americans believe the war in Iraq was somehow caused by 9/11. Which it WASN'T!
- WikiYourRights, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1But... 9/11 _WAS_ an INSIDE JOB ! ! !
Before you dig me down, READ THIS:
''Most revealing of the official nature of the "whitewash" was the fact that the heads of the Senate and House Intelligence Oversight Committee, responsible for the 9-11 investigation, on the actual morning of September 11, 2001, were HAVING BREAKFAST with Lt. General Mahmoud Ahmad, the head of Pakistani Intelligence who HELPED the U.S. and the Saudis to CREATE the Al Qaeda Network. Ahmad was also identified to be responsible for having $100,000 sent to Mohamed Atta, the lead hijacker in the World Trade Center attacks (according to the FBI).'' -- From http://www.deceptiondollar.com/mission.htm

_AND_ people like Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich are the only _REAL_ candidates who are not bought and paid for by corporations! Look it up, it is the TRUTH ! ! ! I would vote for EITHER of these guys if they could ever make it to the general elections ! ! !
_PLUS_ We will be LUCKY to even _HAVE_ an election ! ! !

I mean you could set up camp right on the lawn until the soylent green trucks start shoveling you all away, but that'd be good international news, wouldn't it? I mean then Bush would have to impose martial law and that would mark the end of America. Anything after that is fair game anarchy. Good times. Get your head out of your ass and stop watching Fox News. - spudhead, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1I have to admit, I feel stupid for not knowing this was a bogus story. However, in my defense, when one hears stories like this along with stories suggesting that Cheney doesn't believe the VP is part of the executive branch, everything out of the Whitehouse begins to sound like stories from the Onion and it gets hard to sort fiction from reality.
And that whole mixing-fiction-with-reality is beginning to appear to be their main strategy.

- cablewriter, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1If this is true, then Congress has an obligation to impeach Bush immediately. Republican and Democrat alike should join in this task as the Constitution is the very foundation of the nation and must be maintained. The minute we dismiss it, especially those sworn to defend and uphold it, then we live with the real possibility that all our freedoms will be discarded from the right to our spiritual beliefs to freedom of the press and the right to bear arms.
