let's take care of that problem first then. - silenceHR, on 10/12/2007, -12/+82prolly realizing he will be remembered as "that moron that f*cked up whole world"
- PYREX, on 10/12/2007, -10/+74speculating 2 1/2 years into the future w/ no plan besides not leaving doesnt sound very well thought out?
anyone remember when he said he'd be surprised if we werent in and out in 2 weeks? - totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -7/+62Of course it will be a huge disaster if we leave Iraq today.
But it will be a huge disaster if we stay, with the current troop numbers there.
In fact, its a huge ***** disaster. - faulkner, on 10/12/2007, -13/+66does that sound like "somebody please impeach me now" to anybody else?
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -11/+63Like most Americans (and the rest of the world), I'm just counting the days..
- bignate23, on 10/12/2007, -8/+54"The strategy is to help the Iraqi people achieve the objectives and dreams which is a democratic society."
No, Mr. Dumb-ass, that would be the mission. The strategy is the careful planning and methods behind achieving those goals. Which is.....oh yeah, we didn't have an exit strategy, did we? - adamhmitchell, on 10/12/2007, -13/+59"Civil war" has crossed his lips. That report from the generals must be coming soon. Riddle me this, W: What's the definition of "victory?"
You keep tossing that word around. WHAT DOES IT MEAN? - Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -17/+56Bush is such a douchebag.
- rebrane, on 10/12/2007, -13/+50We didn't, the Supreme Court did.
- Flump5000, on 10/12/2007, -13/+48we didnt elect him. *wink* *wink*
- Shinta, on 10/12/2007, -7/+40Capslock is wrong with America.
- flernk, on 10/12/2007, -14/+42It means that he has no faith in the Iraqi people to "stand up" before January 2009.
Way to lead there, big guy. - migla, on 10/12/2007, -9/+36And when is it not?
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -10/+37God bless you man. Thats all I can think to come up with.
- adamhmitchell, on 10/12/2007, -15/+41The photo is classic Bush. When he hunches over like that and gets that cadence in his speech, you KNOW it's a load of cr@p coming outta his mouth.
- spurtle, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29Wasn't Bush bitchin and moanin about Clinton not having an exit strategy for Bosnia?
- quirk3k, on 10/12/2007, -8/+31"Why would we leave now?"
Because it's the lesser of two evils.
"How long did we have people in Japan after WWII? For how many years? What is that you say? Officially 7 years but actually more?"
We were welcomed in Japan after the war. We kept their emperor, we promoted a Japanese national identity, and we made them feel like they had a future. In Iraq, we humiliated their leaders, we promote the sectarian identities, and no one feels like they could have a future with so much chaos in the streets.
"Thats what I thought."
Comparing Iraq to Japan is like comparing the French revolution to the American revolution. They seem similar, but the different subtexts gave them very different outcomes.
"Furthermore there have been less cassualties than any other major American conflict."
Well if things are that bad, the maybe you should enlist. I hear the Army really needs people right now. - bitcloud, on 10/12/2007, -8/+31"Meanings or definitions are for liberal pussies!" /sarcasm
Definitions have never been Bush's strong point. He uses words he doesn't understand and sometimes simply makes them up.
(first let me preface this by saying that while i'm no language expert, at no point in the first 15 years of my life did I ever see myself debating the pros and cons of language so puerile and devoid of real meaning)
Take: "War on Terror"
We understand that "War" is the act of engaging in armed conflict.
We understand that "Terror" is another word for "Panic".
The fact that we all supported this armed conflict against panic is unimaginable. Pure 100% insanity. The premise of a "war on terror" is completely nonsensical, yet it is at the tip of everyone's lips.
Are you with "Us" or with the "Terrorists"
Define "us" - Define "terrorist"?
They're both essentially nonsensical, and entirely subjective words, but they've been given meaning through their own equally nonsensical context...
Kids in britain are thinking "Well I'm not with him so I must be with the terrorists"
"Us or Them" is ignorant at best, and extremely inflammatory at worst.
Soon after 9/11 "terrorist" was tied to "axis of evil", "saddam", "Unpatriotic" and "islam".
Axis of evil was tied to and defined as "Iran, Iraq, Syria, North Korea" etc.
Anti-terrorism bills are given Acronyms like "P.A.T.R.I.O.T" (even as I type this I cannot believe this is *really* what happened.. its such a blatant use of political manipulation that it serves to show the world how uneducated a large part of the American public are)
We keep listening to the words that come out of this murderer's mouth because we know his words become the deaths of thousands, but if he was scanning my groceries through the checkout I would dismiss his incomprehensible ignorance without a second thought.
As with every post of mine (and hopefully yours) I'll end by reminding you that the time to impeach Bush is NOW. - weneedsound, on 10/12/2007, -7/+30If you take a look at the video.. I think you'd answer your own question.
- brentris, on 10/12/2007, -8/+29someone needs to remove that man's crown.
- dcoolidge, on 10/12/2007, -13/+33We should never have elected him in the first place...
- seanmc303, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25@ zman64
Hate to break it to you, but Saddam was doing a better job than GW, and that's not saying that Saddam was doing a good job. I just saying that GW has really ***** things up over there. Before GW, Saddam didn't have terror cells springing up all over his country, he didn't have terrorists pouring into Iraq, his citizens were not killing each other (he took care of the killing part), and the citizens of Iraq didn't have to worry about what public places were going to be blown up today. Saddam was a bit crazy and had some nasty means of controlling his populous, but he is still a better leader in that country than what is there now. - yohojones, on 10/12/2007, -8/+27I agree... All the more reason to impeach him.
- astanhope, on 10/12/2007, -10/+29I love the photo.
"Why, it's just common sense. I can't believe that I have to 'splain it to you people." - Paktu, on 10/12/2007, -10/+27This is the first time I've ever seen Bush get that angry about something. It seems as if he is really starting to become stressed about what is going on in the world right now- and understandably so.
- deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -9/+26My grandfather fought in WW2 and I am deeply offended you'd dare compare it to Iraq.
- Pic0, on 10/12/2007, -9/+25To all of those that hate Bush.
Next time you vote for our president, PLEASE do not be fooled by the first jackass that says "Lets bring our troops home"
Take into account EVERYTHING s/he does/says. Do not be blinded by one thing like the war in Iraq. This will ***** our country for the next 4 years after Bush. - dcoolidge, on 10/12/2007, -10/+25oh yeah I forgot that's how he won...
- Flump5000, on 10/12/2007, -22/+37***** murderer
- m0laria, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21@tacroy
Don't attempt to justify his failing logic. - deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18What else would we judge him on? His banning of stem cell research? His discrimination of gays? His inability to stop Iran or North Korea from escalating their nuclear programs? tax cuts for the rich?
- wsanders, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18Only problem... Dick Cheney becomes president if Bush is impeached and convicted, which doesn't help us very much.
- falcon1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Soldiers arent being attacked on a daily basis in Germany though, are they? If you really understood the situation in the Middle East, and the history behind it, you would not be comparing bases in Germany to us being in Iraq.
- TheCasablancan, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18That's actually not a bad question? If we averaged out under who's rule more people per year died, what would it come out to?
- Nothlit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Unless you're in the Electoral College, you've never elected a president in your life.
- rebrane, on 10/12/2007, -9/+19He's not asking for impeachment so much as a military coup, I would think. "And what's more, we're going on to win in Iran! And Sudan! And North Korea! Yeeeeeeargh!"
- HallsOfMandos, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16I wonder how long (even though the link goes to a VIDEO of Bush!!) before this gets marked as inaccurate? Sadly, I think that situation over there is now so badly screwed that we are in a damned if you do, damned if you don't sort of scenario. I wonder if I will live long enough to see the world and the US healed of all the damag this administration has inflected?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14If Bush is impeached then Dick Cheney is removed from office as well..
At least that is what it says at www.impeachbush.org - tonyspencer, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15Seemed to me he dismantled the weapons, since both UN and US inspectors never found any. Therefore he wasn't in breach of the resolutions.
- bitcloud, on 10/12/2007, -8/+18It's *Bush* breaking international law we care about.
Your president declared international law to be *void*, and then proceeded to invade another country to 'enforce it'.
I don't agree with leaving Iraq in chaos, but the current troops need to be removed, Bush needs to be impeached and then a force needs to be installed that is a "Peace Keeping" force. - emiles, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17No no no no no. You are misinterpreting his words, poorly chosen as they are.
By "We're not leaving so long as I'm the president" he means to say "we aren't leaving sooner than necessary so long as I have the power to call the shots". The expression "so long as I'm the ___" just means "it's impossible to change my mind". It's kind of a southernism/colloquial thing.
Watch the video and you'll see that's what he's saying based on the context. - thaldex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10While we may have military bases around the world, in how many of those nations are we currently entrenched in constant battle? Let me count them for you: none. How many of the nations where we currently have military bases are so violent and resentful as to create such levels of hate that people resort to suicide bombs? Again: none.
Try not to be such a jackboot supporter of a corrupt and obviously wicked government. It's unbecoming.
Regards, Michael - phase, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11This strategy is to help the republicans down the road. He'll keep troops in Iraq until he leaves office, leaving it to the democrat who will inevitably beat the republicans in the next election. When that next president pulls out the troops and everything goes to hell like everyone expects, the republicans will come out and blame the democrats for causing it all by leaving, people will buy it, and the cycle repeats.
- innerspirit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10now its personal!
- JeffT1545, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16What photo? I see a video. My head just a spode.
- drowningfish, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Lemmings are "steadfast and strong" as they walk off cliffs too.
- locojones, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10"Maybe we should be asking which one (Bush or Saddam) killed over 50,000 of his own people with biological weapons?"
Hmmm, how conveniently the question is phrased so as to avoid the obvious link between Bush's bombs and the deaths of 100,000 Iraqi civilians. - totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10no no, i agree with you. its a ***** disaster.
- rocketryguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9God bless you, and the horse you rode in on, and the rope I'd like to hand you.
Since he's all about being down home and faux-western, I say lets give the impeachment a western style too, show the world some poetic justice... -
