Do they look into anything? - littlebylittle, on 10/11/2007, -16/+292Are they going to have "Special Showers" in them?
- flimbo, on 10/27/2007, -15/+256Can you say armed revolt - I voted for this man. America, I apologize.
- 4chin8, on 10/11/2007, -19/+207The crumbs lead to the rats nest. Halliburton...hmm...VA hospital fraud...
The crap is about to hit the pan. I'm not sure for who: We, the people or Bush and friends... - richziga, on 10/27/2007, -17/+187I dont know what all you tinfoil hat wearing paranoid conspiracy nuts are worried about. Sheez. Just get into the boxcar, there will be plenty of warm meals and a shower at the end of the ride....
- Akufen, on 10/11/2007, -7/+157So now you start worrying? Some fema camps have been refurbished and manned for a few years now.
- spearce, on 10/11/2007, -11/+141if you're not scared you're not paying attention.
- vroom101, on 10/11/2007, -14/+134I don't like the sound of this + it's disturbing. Has the U.S. Congress looked into this?
- tidu, on 10/11/2007, -10/+125SpaceMonkey, you're in a dream world if you don't see what's going on. Now I'm not one of those truthers, I do believe 9/11 was by Osama, but another "terrorist attack" or disaster now would be all too convenient for Bush. You guys say oh, the American people wouldn't take it if Bush, a president who's almost out of office, used his powers to send certain people to concentration centers during an emergency. Try saying it when the police are loading you into the van.
- bemenaker, on 10/11/2007, -6/+99BS, I'll take your apology. Only an idiot refuses to change his mind against overwhelming evidence. :)
Year and half, year and a half. - Laurada, on 10/11/2007, -10/+96And right before their eyes America is getting their very own dictator and no one is stopping him. Scary thing to watch up here in Canada.

unless you want some good old fried *****. - richziga, on 10/11/2007, -10/+91Hey Darel99 are not able to determine tongue in cheek sarcasm? I realize this is not really a joking matter, I am just sick and tired of every patriot being called tinfoil hat wearers, ok?
- hawkspur, on 10/11/2007, -10/+86All Congress has managed to do lately is bend over and let Bush shove the Constitution right up their ass and smile while he does it.
- conspiracynut84, on 10/11/2007, -19/+93We know that these camps are not for illegal aliens. They are for political dissidents. Besides, they already have a system of detention camps already built under REX84. Why don't they round up all those 20 million illegal aliens and stick them there?
- blimpmaster, on 10/11/2007, -9/+81Let's review:
Bush has dictatorial powers
He wants to build concentration camps
Blackwater security is his new best friend
Hmmmmm, I think I would be safer in Russia. - Hoov, on 10/11/2007, -10/+74Dear Canada,
Please save us from this moron.
Yours truly,
America - rtay150, on 10/11/2007, -3/+63This reminds me of the Japanese-Americans who were detained in detention camps after Peal Harbor for "their" protection. Isn't it about time for a new president.......just not Hiliary Clinton please.
- DreKor, on 10/11/2007, -17/+75The summary is off by a factor of 10. The article puts the contract at $385M, not $3.68B.
That's not to say it's good, but at least it's cheaper. - robertrutger, on 10/11/2007, -20/+73Anyone who can read the this article and still remain unconvinced of the existence of a conspiracy is hopeless. The New World Order gameplan is to centralize as much power in the hands of the Presidency as possible. They OWN that office. That way regardless as to what party wins, we lose. George Bush is just as controlled as was Clinton, and as will the next president. James Madison said that the concentration of all powers in the hands of a few is the very definition of the word tyranny.
Limbaugh, Hannity, Medved et al, will blather on and on about republican vs. democrat; liberal vs. conservative, all the while denying even the possibility of the existence of a conspiracy, and characterizing anyone who suggests such a thing as a wacko and a kook. All the while we are losing our beloved republic, and they are getting paid quite handsomely telling us it's just politics as usual.
Our only hope is to expose the conspiracy by calling it what it is. We need to expose the individuals involved and hold them accountable. We need to work with state legislators and our U.S. Congress, and hold them accountable. The presidency is a lost cause. Education and action my friends. Contact the John Birch Society at http://www.jbs.org/ , and get involved, while there is still time. - oxdeltaxo, on 10/11/2007, -4/+55@ therightside
No, it's already a fact at the established FEMA camps that they are surrounded by chain link fencing topped with barbed wire pointing inwards.
@ noahhoward
Inward facing barbed wire is used to keep people in not out. - CC777, on 10/11/2007, -9/+59Huh?
The presidency isn't the only lost cause. Hold congress accountable??? Please....we can't even get to the bottom of half the scandals going on because they have their root in the congress. Congress doesn't want to act because they know that if they hold their peers accountable that takes some of the power away from themselves...then they won't be able to get away with what THEY want to get away with.
We need to clean house and stop the insanity of career politicians and life long financial security...then and only then will we get people in there who really give a crap about this country.
The detention centers are just a small part of what is going on...and those who deny them will one day be sitting in one of them wondering what the heck happened. - truspark, on 10/11/2007, -5/+53vroom 101 wrote:

Yes they did, they voiced their violent opposition, and voted Bush the authority to do it anyway. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -10/+58FTA: "Corsi reported last week the May 9 directive signed by Bush concentrates an unprecedented amount of emergency authority in the office of the president, specifying the chief executive would have the authority to direct "National Essential Functions" of all federal state, local, territorial and tribal governments, as well as private sector organizations in the event of a national emergency.
The directive loosely defines "catastrophic emergency" as "any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy or government functions." "

How much do you want to bet that right before the 2008 elections, San Francisco gets nuked/dirty-bombed?
Just a thought. - FortyCaliber, on 10/11/2007, -8/+54@tidu.
They will most likely be hunting my rebel force, first, before loading me into a van, and when I do get in that van, I'll most likely be in a balck bag.
In the event of military-police state situation as severe as you are stating, no one, and I mean NO ONE is taking me without a fight.
A few former military libertarians and a handful of .270, .30-06, and .223 rifles and the need to protect our families and way of life from the oppresive can easily overtake a small police or military squad.
Guerilla tactics always win out over regimented military because guerillas are pull from the native pool and every dead native is a new martyr. Regimented forces run out, eventually.
Hunting down U.S. citizens will give new meaning to the term "home-grown terrorism." - animeguru, on 10/11/2007, -1/+45@noahhoward
"When Katrina hit we had people living in a ***** football stadium for gods sake, don't you think it may be a good idea for these people to have someplace to go that is actually designed to support them?"
The problem wasn't that people were living in the football stadium because there was nowhere to go, the problem was moving them to another place. There were tons of places for people to go, states were bending over backwards to take people. They just couldn't ***** get them there.
If national disasters are your sole reason, then what you need are some god-damned buses, not an internment camp. - Arch77, on 10/11/2007, -3/+45I propose a national holiday for the day Bush Jr. leaves office.
It would go down in history as "The Holiday For The Day Bush Jr. Left Office" - Waiting2awake, on 10/11/2007, -7/+48Isn't it though? I am simply amazed that there are so many people that either don't see what is happening, or worse, actively promoting it. The real tragic thing is with the mouse on an elephants back theory goes, what happens to America will drastically effect us here in Canada. It is in our interest to stand with our American cousins against those that would repress them, not only because of the effects, but also because of morals, ethics and it will just be the right thing to do.
- Wacer, on 10/11/2007, -2/+42I don't think Darel99 is in tune to the fact that you were citing what the Germans used to say to the Jews when they were loading them and promising them hot meals. I saw the other comment higher in the list about the special showers, they were promised showers and when the herded the naked Jews in the showers, the Germans would pump deadly gas through the spouts instead of water.
For the other doubters that keep thinking, "It couldn't happen here, not now, we are too modern, never in America", it can happen and all past societies thought they were modern. - one2gamble, on 10/11/2007, -4/+43Its worse watching it from inside the US
- oxdeltaxo, on 10/11/2007, -3/+40@ therightside
You don't need to keep people fenced in with barbed wire at a disaster relief camp. In general I think that the relief itself would be motivation enough for them to stay. - consonance, on 10/11/2007, -8/+44@drekor
Actually, it says $3685 million, which is true, but it's still using weasel words. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+36@flimbo
I know how you feel. I actually bailed from the Republican party (over to the Libertarians) about 5 years ago. Welcome to RA!
"My name is Tex...and I'm a former Republican."
"HI TEX!" - BearToy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+32Now all they need to happen is another 9/11. Elections will be suspended, Martial Law declared, then these new facilities can be put to use.
I remember learning about the rise of Nazi Germany as a kid and wondering how it could happen. How could a free people allow it to go on? I didn't understand that it is done gradually over a long period of time. I also didn't know about the Reichstag fire and how it galvanized the German people in fear and with a burning hunger for revenge against "The Communists" they were told were responsible. So the Nazi campaign to 'fight them over there rather than here' was launched and Germany began to invade Europe as the German people cheered. For years I was sure it couldn't happen in America. Now I know that one can replace "Reichstag Fire" with "9/11" and "The Communists" with "The Terrorists" and its all just a little bit of history repeating. - MichaelBradley, on 10/11/2007, -1/+29There is a difference between being scared and being informed. I worry about the U.S. and the direction it is heading. I don't care if you are a conspiracy theorist or not, you can't deny all the scandals going on in our government, all the lies our government has been caught telling, and we are waging war on the entire middle east (if you think we won't hit Iran, you are a fool). How long will the world stand and watch before they start to do something about it? And if you think America can take on the ENTIRE WORLD, you are an even bigger fool.
- DreKor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+28@ consonance
The summary has a typo. The article says the contract was worth $385M, but the summary says $3685M. These are not the same number. - LucidOne, on 10/11/2007, -7/+35You've shown yourself to be a better man than "W" will ever be. Glad you woke up!

I think you are lost on the idea that if another major "terrorist" attack happens in this country, the people will willingly go along with whatever US Government says will keep them safe. Just look at what happened after the criminal act of 9/11 happened. A criminal act occurred and the whole country knee-jerked. It won't be about civil servants being pissed, it will be about being "safe" and whatever it takes to stay that way. - Darel99, on 10/11/2007, -6/+32:::::
We need to make a move towards members of congress and the senate..... We need to take action we need to do it now.... I will not accept the Real ID Act, I will not be moved to any camp. I will defend my family. We need to first start with peaceful means and if they move towards the population we need to take further action. - oxdeltaxo, on 10/11/2007, -4/+30@ noahhoward
Yes, because bush wouldn't hesitate to instate martial law in the case of an emergency. Good luck getting a shot off in that case! - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -9/+35"I am really looking forward to this election though. There are tons of great candidates on both sides."
WTF?!? From my last count, there are *maybe* two even passable candidates on either side.
Reps: Ron Paul and...ummmmm....er.....*****...all the rest are tyrants-in-waiting.
Dems: Bill Richardson and Mike Gravel.....most of the rest have laughable skills/experience or are just as bad as the Neocons.
That's about it. - nippinawassee, on 10/11/2007, -30/+56

The Overthrow of our Nation
Wherever you stand, please take the time to read this; it ought to scare the hell out of you!
We know Dick Lamm as the former Governor of Colorado. In that context his thoughts are particularly poignant. Last week there was an immigration overpopulation conference in Washington, DC, filled to capacity by many of America's finest minds and leaders. A brilliant college professor by the name of Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, "Mexifornia," explaining how immigration - both legal and illegal was destroying the entire state of California. He said it would march across the country until it destroyed all vestiges of The American Dream.
Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America. The audience sat spellbound as he described eight methods for the destruction of the United States. He said, "If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let's destroy America. It is not that hard to do. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time.
Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that 'An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.'"
"Here is how they do it," Lamm said: "First, to destroy America, turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bicultural country."
History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual. The historical scholar, Seymour Lipset, put it this way: "The histories of bilingual and bi-cultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy." Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, and Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons, and Corsicans.".
Lamm went on: Second, to destroy America, "Invent 'multiculturalism' and encourage immigrants to maintain their culture. Make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal. That there are no cultural differences. Make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due solely to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds.
Third, "We could make the United States an 'Hispanic Quebec' without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: "The apparent success of our own multiethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentricity and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together."
Lamm said, "I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America enforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities."
"Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school."
"My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of 'Victimology.' I would get all minorities to think that their lack of success was the fault of the majority. I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority population."
"My sixth plan for America's downfall would include dual citizenship, and promote divided loyalties. I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would stress differences rather than similarities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other - that is, when they are not killing each other. A diverse, peaceful, or stable society is against most historical precedent. People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation together. Look at the ancient Greeks. The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common Language and literature; and they worshipped the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic games. A common enemy, Persia, threatened their liberty. Yet all these bonds were not strong enough to overcome two factors: local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions. Greece fell. "E. Pluribus Unum" --From many, one.
In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the 'pluribus' instead of the 'Unum,' we will balkanize America as surely as Kosovo."
"Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits; make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of 'diversity.' I would find a word similar to 'heretic' in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like 'racist' or 'xenophobe' halt discussion and debate. Having made America a bilingual/bicultural country, having established multi-culturism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of 'Victimology,' I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra: That because immigration has been good for America, it must always be good. I would make every individual immigrant symmetric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them."
In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow. Profound silence followed. Finally he said,. "Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson Davis's book "Mexifornia." His book is dangerous. It exposes the plan to destroy America. If you feel America. deserves to be destroyed, don't read that book."
There was no applause. A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference. Every American in that room knew that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly, darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today.
Discussion is being suppressed. Over 100 languages are ripping the foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness. Even barbaric cultures that practice female genital mutilation are growing as we celebrate 'diversity.'
American jobs are vanishing into the Third World as corporations create a Third World in America - take note of California and other states - to date, ten million illegal aliens and growing fast.
It is reminiscent of George Orwell's book "1984." In that story, three slogans are engraved in the Ministry of Truth building: "War is peace," "Freedom is slavery," and "Ignorance is strength."
Governor Lamm walked back to his seat. It dawned on everyone at the conference that our nation and the future of this great democracy is deeply in trouble and worsening fast. If we don't get this immigration monster stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path especially The American Dream. - ae357em, on 10/11/2007, -1/+27I feel the exact same way. The simple truth is, we were lied to and Bush has instituted a bloodless coup on the American Republic to create a dictatorship.
We already have all the right to overthrow this government stated in the Declaration of Independance:
"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism (dictatorship), it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

- rougepanther, on 10/11/2007, -13/+37I hate to bring up Star Wars, but this is what happened in Episode 3, the party in power stages an attack, and claims that certain people are terrorist (Jedi) and then uses that misinformation to usher themselves into a dictatorship, while the government and general populace are too stupid to see what is going on, and “Democracy is killed with a thunderous applause”. I’m not saying that 9/11 was an inside job or a terrorist plot, but in the grand scheme of things, it was convenient, and I think that the government, using it’s links with Saudi Arabia to communicate with Osama (who is still free) helped his forces gain entry to our country, knowing that a terrorist attack would be the perfect excuse to scare the people into giving the executive branch more and more power, until there is no need for a congress, and we are all just slaves in a dictatorship of the rich and influential.
