- Suricou, on 10/23/2007, -42/+655No surprise here - of course Bush is going to try to abolish any program that results in a better informed and better educated American public. Such a public is not conductive to Republican interests.
- lordtyros, on 10/23/2007, -21/+587Take a look, it's in a book, it's Reading RAINNNNBOWWWW!
***** you, GW. I didn't give a ***** about Iraq or Libby or Gonzalez, but when you ***** with Levar Burton, you got to go. - siszam, on 10/23/2007, -24/+346I watch PBS news because it's the most unbiased source. They present facts and let me draw my own conclusions. No wonder Bush hates it. No propaganda.
- Gadren, on 10/23/2007, -9/+289Seriously, is Bush TRYING to get the Worst President Ever Award?
- obliviousfool, on 10/11/2007, -14/+251Antiques Roadshow FTW!
- ButterBuddha, on 10/11/2007, -11/+212WORST ADMINISTRATION EVER
- Mlachant, on 10/11/2007, -14/+212hhhhhhmmmmmm in a time when our nations writing and reading scores are at all time lows, Bush wants to eliminate a broadcasting company that teaches kids just how to do that.
- Waterrat, on 10/11/2007, -22/+202 Good.(Pats PBS on head.)
- rwallen, on 10/23/2007, -13/+190I ***** hate this piece of ***** president.

- bcarl314, on 10/11/2007, -9/+115Man, I love this comment:
""Taxpayers are being asked to pay more in taxes because Congress is not willing to make hard choices and balance our spending with our income," Lamborn said."
Yeah, let's see 300 million people pay 420 million in taxes for Public Broadcasting that EDUCATES children, supports the arts, and provides some of the most balanced reporting available. That works out to about: $1.40 per person in the us.
WHEREAS the Iraq war, which by most estimates has cost well over 3 TRILLION (thats 3,000,000,000,000), had provided little if any improvement in security, caused instability in the middle east, driven up gas prices, and killed over 3000 soldiers, is routinely ignored by the Republicans as a possibily was to reduce the budget. Just for the math geeks, 3 trillion / 300 million = $10,000 for every person in the US.
Hmm, yep, talk about a dollar chasing a cent mentality.
Morons - PATSCRU, on 10/11/2007, -13/+112over my dead body bush....bill moyers and frontline are part of the last bastion of true American Journalism....you can't take that away.
- Adoozie, on 10/11/2007, -5/+96>>"Taxpayers are being asked to pay more in taxes because Congress is not willing to make hard choices and balance our spending with our income," Lamborn said.
I can think of one surefire way to suddenly reduce spending by $122,820 per minute: have one less war. - Homerr, on 10/11/2007, -6/+94FTA " The move to kill subsidies for the CPB, which make up about 15 percent of its budget, was launched by Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colorado.

End the $5 BILLION+ per month war in Iraq you cockeater. - insomniac8400, on 10/11/2007, -6/+93WTF? Bush has gone too far. This is strike 3,473,892. He needs to be out!
- PimpL, on 10/11/2007, -18/+101And the money will be given to....da da da... FOX News... for their efforts in informing the people.
- DeathBorn, on 10/11/2007, -10/+91Bush wants to destroy anything that doesn't spout his propaganda. PBS is unbiased, therefore it must be taken off the air. But seriously, trying to cancel Sesame Street is a new low.
- wayback09, on 10/11/2007, -6/+84These next 18 months can't go by fast enough. You would have to go out of your way to try and beat Bush as the worst president. But Rudy Giuliani might try and beat him.
- allaboutdatiki, on 10/11/2007, -10/+69Maybe they'll try to outsouce it next.
- DietMountainDew, on 10/11/2007, -8/+65***** him. Just because he can't read and speak properly doesn't mean younger kids shouldn't be given the chance to do so.
- BrapAllgood, on 10/11/2007, -5/+62http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/view/
Gee...I wonder why. WAKE UP! - kevinmotel, on 10/11/2007, -2/+56::squints into the light:: could it be? real news? must be. i see no paris hilton. its beautiful....
- mateo60, on 10/11/2007, -12/+58I voted for Bush. I'm so sorry. I'm a ***** idiot. Will the world ever forgive me?
(sigh) - futureb, on 10/11/2007, -6/+49roqueace - your comment reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of humanity. you need to get out more.
- kindrobot, on 10/11/2007, -7/+50But don't take his word for it. (buh dun dunk)
- link5280, on 10/11/2007, -2/+45Dont insult ***** :)

- saltmagic, on 10/11/2007, -5/+42Well ,he has that already.....hes looking to the future...Worst leader of all time award, Best leading villain award, He's on a role
- frostedflakes, on 10/11/2007, -7/+43Exactly Suricou, governments cannot function properly with an educated public.
- Ajajadude, on 10/11/2007, -8/+43Well, when he came up with that whole "leave no child behind" act, what he really meant was "leave every child behind." He just confused "no" with "every."
- Sunuva, on 10/11/2007, -5/+38Yes, that and he needs that money for his pet war.
- Ajajadude, on 10/11/2007, -7/+39What the...
PBS is probably the only station I'd trust...outside of the Cartoon Network. I can't fathom any logical reason as to why he would want to cut funding to that station. And don't give me that "saving taxpayers' money" *****. There are thousands of things they could cut (like a war, perhaps?) to save money. Hell, hiring a few extra accountants might save them money since we seem to lose a lot of it when it comes to business deals in Iraq.
Anyone who voted FOR this should be sent to Russia. - gclef, on 10/11/2007, -2/+33Many politicians learned a very important lesson the last time this came up: do NOT f*ck with Big Bird.
No, really...threaten to cancel Sesame Street and the soccer moms will *destroy* you. - SgtBlue, on 10/11/2007, -7/+37Guys, come on. He needs more money to stop terrorism, so obviously this useless PBS station that doesn't spout "patriotic" propaganda in its shows need to go! [/heavysarcasm]
- Compserd, on 10/23/2007, -6/+36If there is no more PBS, how will I get my Sesame Street fix? :(
- ObscuredCelery, on 10/11/2007, -5/+32No more NPR means no more All Songs Considered, which is an excellent program. Also for people like me who live in the middle of nowhere you can't get radio or broadcast TV and I am not going to pay for cable so NPR offering all of their programming as podcasts or streaming internet radio is VERY important to me. I am sick of this kind of crap. A billion dollars a week to occupy a country and you can't spare 420 mil for one of the greatest public services available to
Americans? - rightmindx, on 10/11/2007, -5/+32Yeah, and while we're at it, let's get rid of public libraries and public schools as well... because people who are too poor to buy books or attend a private school should be denied the opportunity to learn and better themselves. Society would definitely improve that way.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -13/+40WOW, the Republicans are quite the Fascists!
- Matrix_Prime, on 10/11/2007, -2/+28actually....the government already ***** with Levar Burton and won. He couldn't get the funding he needed for the show, and that was why it ended.
- rationalist, on 10/11/2007, -2/+28Funny logic, since illegal immigrants can't vote - and legal immigrants should enjoy the same rights, and have the same kind of diverse interests, as other Americans.
Want to try again? - rationalist, on 10/11/2007, -2/+27National Public Radio is a membership network of thousands of independent stations that report the news out of their local areas. NPR provides member stations with training, program promotion and management, and provides its satellites as a distribution mechanism for all member stations - including non-NPR content. NPR also distributes its own programming - which no member station is required to carry. NPR is funded by its member stations, who contribute from their CPB stipend to keep it going. The government has no direct say in its programming.
It is not a "station", it is not "supposed to be reporting government news out of D.C."
Surveys consistently show NPR to be the single most trusted news source in the United States. What are you talking about? - HaywoodGiablomi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+25Deal. As long as you'll give me back my share of the $$$ spent in Iraq, the War on Terror™, the War on Some Drugs, etc..
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -12/+35I have to agree with bratpack on this one - I have recently come to terms with the fact PBS is biased...biased in favor of rationally thinking, knowledge seeking individuals. PBS ignores the folks in need of a continuous flow of zero fact rhetoric (Fox News), so they can regurgitate and attempt to regulate what they "think" is right for America.
- cquinnd, on 10/11/2007, -4/+27At least they (and NPR) have an ombudsman on staff to respond to any claims of percieved bias.
- one1plus1one, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22It's strange Rwallen, but likewise never in my life have I actually felt emotional hatred for a politician. Mostly they just annoyed me, or never ceased to amaze me, but they have never invoked feelings of actual hatred until now.
Even when I disagreed with the policies of other presidents, I found other things about them that I respected greatly. For example although I am "democrat" in ideology there was much I could respect about Ronald Reagan. There are even many things I respect about Richard Nixon. At least he had the decency to resign, and take his punishment like a man.
But Bush... I shudder at the sight of him. I am Canadian and I frequently visit the USA (because I love America and it's people) but at the border crossing I usually use, there is a photograph of Bush and Dick, and each time I look upon it, I feel a strange sinking feeling that the America I love to visit is vanishing quickly, thanks to them.
I hope some good can come out of this, and the people of America will say "Never again", and learn a great lesson from this. I don't blame the people of America who voted for Bush, because no one really saw this coming, until Bush really began to change and "went to the dark side". Well... that's enough rambling from me. - NavS, on 10/11/2007, -2/+24MR. ROGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
