- LetFreedomReign, on 02/14/2008, -5/+156LOL I am so tired of his fearmongering. But what I ameven MORE tired of is watching our congress wimp out and always bow to Bush's wishes. Seriously, it is CONGRESS'S job to propose legislation. Not the president's. And it is CONGRESS's job to declare war and control the purse strings. How can they not exercise their own power against a president with abyssimal approval ratings against a war that is unpopular, and against legislation that is unconstitutional? I've never seen a bigger bunch of wimps... ever.
- Groovemaster, on 02/14/2008, -3/+89Remember that when Bush talks about "the enemy", he's talking about Americans who are aware of the huge scam that's being pulled on the USA: Endless, unnecessary war to create massive profits for the richest 5% of the population.
America is now nothing more than a giant War Corporation, where human life is an inconvenient obstacle to wealth. - GhostyBoy, on 02/14/2008, -7/+50Amazing. The headline of this article just summed up that man's entire presidency.
- EricPeters, on 02/14/2008, -5/+43***** this ***** War on Terror. I'm sick of this being used as an excuse to circumvent the laws that give us our freedom.
- sdndba, on 02/14/2008, -5/+42Yep...a bunch of wimps. They need to reach down and find a couple and vote NO! They are just a sad group of sheep.
- inactive, on 02/14/2008, -13/+45I will now explain the proper use of quotes(") in the English language. When you use quotes(") in the english language it means the person said those exact words. Y OU ***** MORONS!!!!! YOU ***** TARD ASS ***** ***** TINY BRAInED MOTHER ***** ASS JMUCH FUKCING IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIND FUKCING BRAINCELL YOU MORONS!!!!!! YES I AM DRUNK!!!!!
- trumpetmn, on 02/14/2008, -1/+33The keyword is "fear mongering". For those of you who don't know what it means; it's the tactic of the people in power to play on the fears of the people by telling them there is an enemy "out there" who is hiding in wait to attack them so that they the people will be more willing to let go of their freedoms and give more and more power to the "dictator" until his power is absolute. Stalin used words like "terrorists" too. He even told his people there were capitalist "sleeper cells" in the Soviet Union waiting to simultaneously rise up and attack them and wreak destruction and bloodshed on the people. With Hitler it was Jews and other select groups. Mussolini had his; as well as all the modern dictators like Saddam Husein etc. etc. etc. It's not new. It's not a war on terror, it's a war against the American people and anyone who says different is ignorant or is helping "them". Study your history!
- Napoleone, on 02/14/2008, -2/+28That's what warrants and court orders are for.
- GoneGreen, on 02/14/2008, -3/+23This is why we should never again vote for a cocaine sniffing, recovering alcoholic, draft dodging, born again christian, trust fund baby.

- Napoleone, on 02/14/2008, -3/+20These powers are not about Bush. Congress is using Bush as the excuse to give these powers to the next president, which they know is likely to be a Democrat.
Wise up to their games. - richgustavson, on 02/14/2008, -1/+16THEY WOULDN'T BE SUBJECT TO LAWSUITS IF THEY WEREN'T BEING ASKED (read: told) TO BREAK THE LAW!
I can't believe this issue is even up for debate.
Scenario 1: The telcos ARE NOT doing anything illegal.
In this case, they don't need immunity because they wouldn't be doing anything wrong.
Scenario 2: The telcos ARE doing something illegal.
In this case, they shouldn't be doing or asked to do it in the first place!
This is really a sad, sad state of affairs, when will the madness end? - inactive, on 02/14/2008, -4/+18the reptilians hold Congress Hostage. Most of them are either too scared for their seats or too stupid to be there in the first place.
I recently watched a film called "The Web", it is a Russian film about Putin's fight with Russian Corruption, and about regular Cops dedicated to Russia who fight corruption within the FSB. The central FSB Director working together and for the Russian Organized Crime.
In this film, The Director was using Information Classification "Top Secret" to his advantage so that he could get members of the FSB to do work for him that was treasonous and illegal.
His main agenda was "International Terrorists are about to do something bad", but in actuality, there were no terrorists, he was using his power to help Members of Organized Crime. - inactive, on 02/14/2008, -2/+16War Corporatism of the Military Industial Complex http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5GcFl_oQi4
- puscifer919, on 02/14/2008, -1/+13God damn straight. I'm sick of this ***** president.
- Napoleone, on 02/14/2008, -3/+14Napoleon went into battle with his men. It seems to me Bush is very much secured behind his desk.
- smurf22, on 02/14/2008, -3/+14If there is terrorist in our country they wont be planning their ***** on the internet. Its not going to be like a message board where they go lol we're totally blowing up the white house on 8/15/08.
- cambob76, on 02/14/2008, -1/+11They won't help us to break the law unless we break a law to get rid of that law. - OK, whatever George.
- adooga, on 02/14/2008, -2/+11I can't believe you Americans. John Kennedy gets shot after how long in office? And this tool is still alive after 7 years of non-stop *****?
When are you planning to use those guns you're so proud to own? - UCIJames, on 02/14/2008, -1/+10I'm sick of this. When have you ever seen a news report or article saying "Terrorist plans foiled thanks to Patriot Act!!"
I mean, what is this, the 60's? It's like the *****' Red Scare all over again... - Heysal, on 02/14/2008, -3/+12If this guy weren't dangerous he'd be hilarious. What is more hilarious is that people are ready to vote for up and coming that are right in his camp - the top two candidates are nothing more than more of the same - and lets watch who falls for them.
- V0lk, on 02/14/2008, -4/+12Dear President Bush:
***** you....you will NOT take any more from us - diggumjonez, on 02/14/2008, -2/+10Someone needs to say "Look, just take the extra hour and get a damn warrant." They'll be happy to do what they're asked, provided a judge signed a warrant, and there is now accountability for everyone involved.. Everyone wins. The watchers can continue watching, the companies can rest assured they won't be sued, and we can all make sure the power is not being abused.
- spyd3rweb, on 02/14/2008, -2/+10As opposed to your template of blaming "leftists" for all thats wrong with the world.
- 55mph, on 02/14/2008, -1/+8Bush is a motherfuker!!
- apc3161, on 02/14/2008, -1/+8C'mon, they aren't that stupid. They just pretend that every 4 years there is an election that makes a difference. Get with the program.
- nonstop87, on 02/14/2008, -2/+9You sir, are my hero.
- CuffLInk, on 02/14/2008, -2/+9I have a feeling we won't be hearing from smurf22 again... they're gonna waterboard your ass.
- titlesaysitall, on 02/14/2008, -2/+9This is the FBI, we are contacting Digg about the above comment to take it down. Mr smurf22,why don't you take a seat while we prepare your plane for Guantanamo Bay.
Love & Kisses,
Your supreme Dictator - spyd3rweb, on 02/14/2008, -1/+7Laws don't "give" us our freedom.... If you believe this you are part of the problem.
- adooga, on 02/14/2008, -1/+7Yes, and he did NOTHING ABOUT IT!
- inactive, on 02/14/2008, -7/+13"we have found the enemy and they are us" Pogo
"we have found the enemy and he is Bush" the people of America! - dafragsta, on 02/14/2008, -2/+8Yes! I stayed with it all the way to the payoff. I picture wonky falling backwards in his chair from the mouse button recoil of hitting submit.
- unclerichard, on 02/14/2008, -1/+7Come on people, it's not about surveillance, it's about getting a court warrant = obeying the US Constitution.
- spyd3rweb, on 02/14/2008, -1/+7Its too much work to keep those safeguards for peoples privacy intact i guess.
- StarlessKnight, on 02/14/2008, -1/+7You forgot 4. You're guilty until the NSA's data mining proves you're innocent.
- StarlessKnight, on 02/14/2008, -1/+6There are people wishing us harm? Good thing we created the FBI, the CIA, and the NSA. What? They aren't good enough? Need a few more TLAs? What? Law being a general pain in the ass? Get rid of a few, streamline the process, make domestic spying easier. Yay security! Security! Security! Security! ...wait, didn't America use to chant "Freedom! Freedom! Freedom?"
- SheilaNoya, on 02/14/2008, -2/+7suzywang3000 - Did your baby sister teach you how to troll? You really suck at this.
- ferrofluid, on 02/14/2008, -1/+6"The time for debate is over. I will not accept any temporary extension"
ye gods, echoes of another place another era. The Leader has spoken. - Culero, on 02/14/2008, -1/+6Drunk Digging? Damned these out of control kids these days, with theiir drinking and their digging! irresponsible
- rficwizard, on 02/14/2008, -1/+6Yep, that's the idea. People act in their own perceived self interest, in general. If the telecom companies know that violating the privacy of their customers will cost them, they won't do it unless clearly required to do so by law. That is the desired effect.
- Reavie, on 02/14/2008, -3/+7Can anyone comment on how many Terrorist Plots the government has uncovered using these telecom companies as hosts for illegal spying?
Please? - SheilaNoya, on 02/14/2008, -3/+7If you think Bush is scary now, just wait until right before the November elections when he starts a military scuffle with Iran or Pakistan to scare everyone into voting for McCain, the "military leader". Hopefully, the gullible idiots of America won't fall for this same crap again.
- GoneGreen, on 02/14/2008, -1/+5No, they won't have to because Liberals are well liked, our foreign policy changes will qwell terrorist desires. Warmongers are the problem, not the solution
- JulyZerg, on 02/14/2008, -1/+5Yeah, we realized that. But is that a reason to completely kill civil rights, go off on a war to get some oil, and now he is working as hard as he can to kill your economy. Remember: Vote Republican!
- N3M3515, on 02/14/2008, -1/+5The EFF has a petition go sign it, if you care about your rights and the 4th amendment.
- Zuggy, on 02/14/2008, -1/+5Your over simplifying. There are many problems that even "smart voters" can't cure. Some of which are, only being able to vote for stupid candidates (stupid implying that they vote for laws to be passed like the new FISA bill with retroactive telecom immunity) and such a dominance of one party in a state that the opposing party won't present a candidate. I live in Idaho and here you could only vote for the same 2 republican senators that were already in office. Yes I live in the state that Larry Craig represents, damned hypocrite.
- inactive, on 02/14/2008, -5/+9is he talking about Upcoming March on DC
- ferrofluid, on 02/14/2008, -1/+5we understand that real terrorists are the main target of all the big high tech spy stuff, but the problem is US politicians and org crime misusing the apparatus for domestic purposes.
People remember COINTELPRO and the FBIs and others, domestic murder mayhem spree against unpopular radicals and legal protesters. - inactive, on 02/14/2008, -2/+6Has anyone seen The Power of Nightmares? It was a groundbreaking award winning documentary that was shown on BBC a few years back. It's all about how policticians have bee using fear mongering to gain power over people. It's the first time I ever heard the term "neoconservatives" on national TV
