- WiseWeasel, on 03/13/2008, -1/+15They should be praised for their willingness to bend over and spread them wide, with no regards for due process, following the law and the constitution, or any attempts at protecting the privacy of their law-abiding customers. Riiiight. Maybe Yahoo should be praised for being so willing to turn over the identities of dissidents in China so they could be tortured and shot in the head...
- kayvman78, on 03/13/2008, -1/+11Have we come to the point of rewarding corporations for spying on us? What kind of precedent does this set? Next we are going to hear that cameras are mandatory in out homes. Stay away from my private life. What happened to having the right to privacy. Enough of this far mongering. "Give me liberty or give me death." Even if we are threatened.
- toddcat, on 03/13/2008, -2/+11Huh? You're setting up a straw man-as though the fact that the US hasn't been attacked directly is owing to Monkey Boy and Snarl. The terrorists are not stupid. They know that George Bush is the best recruiter that they could possibly have ever had.

C-O-N-S-T-I-T-U-T-I-O-N - inactive, on 03/14/2008, -2/+10Only 3 Cons left on this board??
Pretty much all the rest of the idiots have jumped ship..
I don't blame 'em..
who wants to be associated with a LOSER President??
oh wait.. the remaining three. - MacSuxWindozSux, on 03/14/2008, -0/+8He said that the FISA bill was urgently necessary to protect the people from another attack. Then he said he would veto any FISA bill that didn't include -retroactive immunity- for phone companies.
He's putting the welfare of the phone companies above the safety of the people.
Shielding telecoms from litigation is a higher priority than public safety to him.
He's a fascist. - inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+7I've already thanked them by discontinuing my cell phone service, and then reducing my home phone usage to once or twice a week. As soon as I move closer to the rest of my family I'll double down, and get rid of the home phone too.
- dupswapdrop, on 03/14/2008, -0/+5Yes thank you for taking my monthly payments and my taxes and then spying on me. If the damm government didn't protect them they would be out of business!
- InfamousAtheist, on 03/14/2008, -0/+4You're using a straw man argument - the logical argument is to point out that unfettered access to our wired communications does not prevent terrorist attacks, particularly since the government has had the ability to tap phone lines prior to getting a warrant since the 70s. This law is intended to protect the president from future prosecution for breaking the law.
Bottom line: your argument is full of holes and you can't provide proof that this law helps defend us against "terrorism" at all. Go ahead and try, I'll be here to smack you down. - @nival, on 03/14/2008, -0/+3sure Mr. President, for you and them, my middle finger is giving a standing ovation and the ones on the sides are bowing.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 03/14/2008, -1/+4***** Fascist.
- jerryterhorst, on 03/14/2008, -0/+3it never ceases to amaze me what this administration considers "patriotic".
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2@Ell3, there is no indication that anything that the Bush Administration has illegally done with the illegal assistance of the telecoms has done anything to stop another attack on America.
In reality there has not been another attack because we are already doing exactly what the the terrorists want. We have squandered 3 trillion dollars and gotten ourselves into debt so deep that like it or not we will be obliged to end our international empire. We have generated thousands and thousands of hours of Islamist propaganda footage as soldiers are filmed breaking down doors, pointing AR15s at Grandmothers, shooting up cars full of civilians, etc. ad infinitum.
We have lost our position as the moral example thanks to our over-reaction. We torture abroad and usurp civil rights in this country.
The second attack on this country has been a million times more devastating than the first and it didn´t cost the terrorists a dime. That is because the idiot President and his hubristic batch of Zionists has played their part right on cue and done everything that Osama could have hoped for. - spearce, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2Yeah...They're patriotic right up until the FBI forgets to pay for the wire taps. Then national security takes a back seat to 'pay up sucka.'
http://digg.com/security/FBI_Wiretaps_Canceled_for ... - InfamousAtheist, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2Anyone else think Bush looks and sounds like a man who has given up?
He's gone completely gray and looks worn down. I have to wonder if he'll fall down dead from the stress of lying to the public, fearing for his own welfare after he leaves office, and wondering if his plan to permanently enable the US Corporatocracy will be so successful after his administration.
I hope his personal hell is hotter than anyone else's. He certainly deserves nothing less. - inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2It's hard to be truthfull with big business down your pants.
BTW...I'm not talking from experience. - aaronwolfe, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2If you actually put forth an 'argument' there might be something to counter.
- logicalnoise, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1patriots who took their ball and went home when the FBI stopped sending checks.
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -1/+1lol, W has redefined the word "patriot". The decider!
- Stevanoski, on 03/14/2008, -6/+2Word Com.s choke on: F R E E D O M
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -6/+1Nice job you three. Anyone care to actually use logic to counter my argument?
- gypsi, on 03/14/2008, -8/+3straw man is what you do when you have nothing
- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -19/+3America's liberal cultural Marxists are complaining to this day about how their federal government, their nanny, didn't do enough to protect them from the ravages of Hurricane Katrina. You don't suppose these same liberals would be whining if their beloved government didn't protect them from a terrorist attack? No, not a chance. Right?
