Bush is a master magician. Every time the mass media gets distracted, he capitalizes.
You can't take your eye off him. - thegamingguy, on 08/30/2008, -6/+54"what are you doing over there?"
"me? nothing... just sort of setting everything up for the next guy." - MercyPolitics, on 08/30/2008, -4/+34This is the logic of the so call " war on terror ", the perfect concept for war mongers. The " war on terror " by essence never end just like the " war on drugs".
- GrandmaSheila, on 08/31/2008, -4/+33Warrentless wiretapping is nothing compared to what's next: try mass arrests--check out the action in Minneapolis, the "police" breaking into houses, arresting protesters who have done NOTHING, including protest yet, arresting attorneys who show up to help, arresting people filming the outrage, all without warrants, confiscating computers and anything else. CHECK IT OUT, it's here now. What will you do about it?
- kemp34, on 08/31/2008, -4/+33To hell with Bush. He hates the Constitution and is therefore anti-American. Anyone who defends Bush is anti-American in the literal sense.
If you truly love America, you would want Bush to be held responsible for his assaults on our founding documents. - jenshik, on 08/31/2008, -5/+28Dupes on the FRONT PAGE
Don't do this again, please. - Jimmyb207, on 08/30/2008, -2/+25You Bushies are so predictably ignorant.
- inactive, on 08/30/2008, -5/+26Does this really come as a surprise to anyone?
- CommonSense2k8, on 08/31/2008, -1/+17probably nothing.
i would like to do something, but everyones so happy sitting at home and going to work, watching their American Idol and Desperate Housewives... no one cares about a "radical" protest group.... sigh.... this nation is nearly finished :-( - Seaton, on 08/31/2008, -4/+19PAY NO ATTENTION TO THAT MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN!
- brightlight4, on 08/30/2008, -5/+19UFFFFFFFF, Am I pleased I don't live in the US....
- brightlight4, on 08/30/2008, -2/+16Bush is not intelligent enough for this his puppet strings are being pulled by his bosses!!!! (whoever they may be!)
- kemp34, on 08/31/2008, -2/+15So, idiot, would you be okay with permanent war powers? Are you that ***** stupid?
What a total moron. - Thesp0rk, on 08/30/2008, -4/+16mmm...warrentless wiretapping..
- DonnyBahama, on 08/31/2008, -2/+14Get a clue, Stevanoski - this isn't about Bush or even Republicans or Democrats. It's about our Constitution. If you're a Bush/McCain supporter, then ask yourself this - do you want Obama to wield this much power if he's elected?
No matter who is in the oval office, we can't afford to see our checks and balances dismantled by shifting power to the executive branch. - DonnyBahama, on 08/31/2008, -3/+14I've been ranting and blogging about this for a while now. THIS is the biggest threat to our national security. David Addington's interpretation (and Bush/Cheney's implementation) of the Unitary Executive Theory is a direct and deliberate assault on the checks and balances that serve to preserve our Constitution.
The scary part is that everyone is so distracted by the presidential campaign - just when we need watchdogs the most! - kiantech, on 08/31/2008, -2/+13There are two of the same articles on the frontpage....
- circle26, on 08/31/2008, -1/+12no, what surprises me is our apathy.
- purpl3hazze, on 08/31/2008, -4/+14Wow, somebody needs to tell the Bush administration that 1984 wasn't a how-to.
But I guess War Is Peace after all anyway, isn't it? - BobOrleans, on 08/31/2008, -8/+18Dupes on the FRONT PAGE
Don't do this again, please. - aussieNickuss, on 08/31/2008, -5/+15Duplicate much.... http://i35.tinypic.com/ip03yu.png ??
- inactive, on 08/31/2008, -2/+11"The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from all the oligarchies of the past, in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just round the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power."
George Orwell's 1984 - numb, on 08/31/2008, -0/+8This is the kind of thing we need to be worrying about. Hopefully this won't be overshadowed by the flood of negative smear crap that has been going on the last day or so.
- Reynardine, on 08/31/2008, -0/+7If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator,"
- Pres. Bush - winmywii, on 08/31/2008, -2/+9I'm tired of the ***** dupe police. Your comment is a dupe of the comment the comment 5 comments up. Now let me take a screen shot of that.
- TinternAbbot, on 08/31/2008, -3/+10Digg algorithm needs work.
- DrunkenSavior, on 08/31/2008, -2/+8(Looks at the two identical articles on the frontpage)
THAT'S NOT CHANGE! THAT'S MORE OF THE SAME!!! - kaskarn, on 08/30/2008, -3/+9you, in few words, highlighted a lot of what is wrong today in the US.
- malignatius, on 08/30/2008, -3/+9There's a world outside of the U.S. you know...
Take your head out of your own ass. - Jimmyb207, on 08/30/2008, -1/+7Your lost on the dark side of the moon without a flashlight, gquaglia. After what Bush has done to the WORLD, everybody has the right to ***** on him now!
- jj101, on 08/31/2008, -1/+6If you really want to get good use out of that tin foil hat try this:
What if Bush has no intention of stepping down! Now that he has the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive in place (link at bottom) he can assume command of the country regardless of his terms of office if in the event of a catastrophic emergency, defined in the document as:
"Catastrophic Emergency" means any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions".
I wonder if a new war with Russia qualifies under that definition. People I know in Europe (as opposed to the UK where I live) have been saying this would happen for years. Obviously extremely unlikely to the point of absurdity but hey, he stole two elections already, changed the constition and illegaly invaded a country bypassing UN law. Hmm.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/05/20 ... - Lynx55, on 08/31/2008, -3/+8It certainly is not Bush. he's too stupid. It's Cheney and Bush just follows orders very well. The Puppet Master strikes again.
- inactive, on 08/31/2008, -2/+7To MakiMaki: How about giving someone else a chance to make the Front Page? It's not just a literal dupe like this. It's also posting an article that is essentially the same but posted at a different site. You could ask your legions of fans to digg someone else's articles for a change. Digg is supposed to be about Democracy.
Digg this version instead which was posted earlier by johnd24.
http://digg.com/politics/Bush_quietly_seeks_to_mak ... - winmywii, on 08/31/2008, -1/+6Yeah, but this is different than an LOL cat dupe. This is pretty important.
- KataLieb, on 08/31/2008, -1/+6This is pretty goddamn important. Now USA is officially a dictatorship. And will be, until a revolution happens. Freedom, all of it, is gone now - never mind that for a few decades, it was an illusion at best. Now the gloves are off.
- record200, on 08/31/2008, -2/+7Don't you think it's high time for American people to stop the abuse of power?
- SquigglyP, on 08/31/2008, -2/+7This is what I was telling everyone I knew when the Iraq war first started. This ***** war isn't going to end. It will never end. They've figured out the perfect enemy that they can keep fighting and fighting, and the best part is that unlike 1984, they don't have to do anything to convince people. No one really knows or cares about what happens in the rest of the world. They can blame whatever they want on whomever they want and people here will just go along with that. So long as they've got FOX news hinting that every forest fire, psycho-with-a-gun shooting spree, or any other big random act of violence or destruction is possibly terrorism related, then you don't actually need terrorism.
Seriously. No amount of terrorist acts could ever destroy this country. This country has survived terrorist-like bombings and attacks since it was founded. We could have 10 cities get nuked right now - tonight - and after the initial shock wore off, we'd recover and continue. Anyone who uses the threat of a mushroom cloud over our cities as an excuse to stripping away our liberties is acting like a child, afraid of a shadow. - btschul, on 08/31/2008, -0/+5we tried a revolution , but you called us "paultards" and supported Obama and more of the same.
- bjornski, on 08/31/2008, -0/+4A reported attack site? Oh, I see, it's that "realonlinevideo" virus again.
Thanks. Reported. - jj101, on 08/31/2008, -0/+4Regardless where you live, what happens in the states has a knock on effect on your country. Depressing but true.
- Meocross, on 08/31/2008, -0/+4The Syndicate.
- Ashtonn, on 08/31/2008, -0/+3This one was posted 10 minutes before.
- jshooter1377, on 08/31/2008, -0/+3Actually, this time, yeah. I had it in the back of my mind that this might happen...but never thought it would for real.
- newsbaby, on 08/31/2008, -0/+3Same URL submitted twice, goes popular twice within 10 minutes.
- crashbang, on 08/31/2008, -0/+3Very nice md. Orwell is pretty succinct in his disdain for oligarchies. God I wish I could write like that. Maybe time to reread this little gem.
- asus2000, on 08/31/2008, -1/+4I predict all-time world record negative burys for you..
- kazz67, on 08/31/2008, -0/+3Me too, but then, thing are much better in the UK either!
Now Spain I could handle! ;o) - Darkaged, on 08/31/2008, -0/+3The Patriots?
/MGS - sk11, on 08/31/2008, -0/+3It's the re-education room for you comrade. Now, repeat after me: I love brother bush.
