- Wiggles2, on 10/12/2007, -16/+77Mccain is just following the political winds to keep his job. He's always been a hawk.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+66Welcome to three years ago McCain.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+51The "anti-Bush group" is over 60 percent of America, and the entire rest of the world.
The Bush-fellaters simply haven't accepted that, yet, so they have to whine and cry about it. It's about accepting reality.
Also, thanks for the irony, guys, since the Republicans all gang up here and down-mod any articles & comments they don't like. You can dish it out but can't take it, right? Just like so many war hawks don't sign up for the military. Come on, keyboard commandoes! We need troops! Bush has just recalled 2,500 national guard. Why do you hate America?
/guffaw - kingkilr, on 10/12/2007, -10/+52My six year old sister managed to figure this out.
- 0siris, on 10/12/2007, -5/+46McCain is a hack. If you agree or not with what he said, hes still a political oppertunist that plays both sides as often as he can.
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -7/+40@Shinta
Actually, historians are saying its likely he will go down in history as one of the worst presidents ever to live. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -25/+54WELl YOU ***** DID VOTE FOR HIM.
You got what you wanted now stop bitching about it. - culbeda, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30"Believe it or not, Lincoln was a Republican."
Umm.. "Republican" didn't mean QUITE the same thing then as it does now. The political shift happened after the South stopped voting Democratic because of unpopular Democrats platforms like abolishing slavery, desegregation and the ERA.
/Distant descendant of Lincoln who is sure that old Abe rolls over in his grave every time he's linked to the current batch of charlatans. - halavais, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24I have to admit, I used to be a fan. Even if I didn't agree with all of his policies, he seemed to be reasoned and reasonably spin-free. But if you saw him on Meet the Press this week... Man, he seemed squirmy. "We have to win in Iraq," but "mistakes were made." He supports the president's decision to keep Rumsfeld in the position, but doesn't have confidence in Rumsfeld. He needs to decide which fence he wants to sit on and plant it already. The dancing around is making me dizzy.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+30There were sane Republicans?
- szelij, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27Dismissing this as political posturing. McCain is doing whatever he can to keep his job. He's trying to bail his side of the sinking ship. He's always been pro-war.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+29@ shinta:
"After that people will have realized how heroic Bush's stance against terrorism was, and how he protected America, and the world."
That's hilarious. What color is the sky in your world?
Newsflash: In 15 years a new generation of angry, fundamentalist Moslems who had their fathers & uncles killed by the Bush administration's incompetence will be *just* old enough to strap on bombs & take over airliners.
We are less safe than we ever were. Osama bin Laden is *still out there*. Bush didn't catch him. The Taliban are resurgent. Iraq had *nothing to do with 9/11* and will disintegrate, virtually handed over to the fundamentalist extremist mullahs in Iran; a strategic DISASTER for the West.
We will never be able to fight Iran. We are bogged down in Iraq & will be there for years. If McCain gets in, expect a draft. You may be old enough to serve, if you're younger than 42.
No, Bush will be looked back on as an incompetent who dropped the ball & made the world immeasurably less safe. Terrorist activity is at an all time high & will continue to be so due to his administration's incredible mismanagement. And YOU, Shinta, will nod and agree with the "Bush bashers" when all this goes down, because to do anything else will make you look a fool, and you are a follower. - nogami, on 10/12/2007, -12/+32He should've said "Republicans are misleading America".
- deesnutz, on 10/12/2007, -8/+25You got to love it. The Republican Party is imploding. More and more Republicans are turning their backs on Bush. Why? They all know that this Iraqi war has been a ***** war since the start. Even Bush is eating his words by saying that there were no connections with Iraq and Al Qaeda ("None"). Even though Cheney and poor Colin Powell (who ended up resigning for being made fool) were all telling America that there was a connection (without a doubt - yeah right).
So these snakes are now turning on each other to try to survive this turning tide. And trust me the tide will turn. America has had enough crap during these 2 terms of George W. Bush "The Decider". What a joke.

This is what Bush means in spanish ...

- TruthElixirX, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20I'm guessing that mean you don't vote.
In that case you are a jack ass and do not deserve to speak at all. People like you are the reason things are the way they are. Vote or shut the hell up. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18Ha ha! We won?
Hey, I guess you'll be vacationing in sunny, safe Iraq this year, won't you? - neozeed, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16Indeed! the suply side economic reform of Iraq has been a total sucess! Every day people are thanking the USA for the reforms!
- friend18, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18Bush mislead America
Understatement of the day - Wiggles2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14@macattacks10
Constituents want people to disingenuously flip-flop when it suits their careers? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15“News flash... we won the war”
Really? Then I wonder why we keep losing soldiers and killing innocent civilians. But if you say so...
Btw, where are we holding Osama? We’ve captured him to right? - DrOBoogie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I think you guys are misinterpreting what he said.
He's still in favor of the war, he just thinks that Bush didn't accurately tell us what the war would be like, and how difficult a task it actually is. - bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Helix, sounds like some pretty sad people hate you. And by sad, I mean REALLY sad.
- Yoda716, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I just hope that when bush's term is up the next guy can pick up all of the pices.

"Once I started defending some Republicans, someone has set up a script to mod down every comment I make within a few minutes of it getting posted."
Paranoid, much? Time for your prozac. - Lososaurus, on 10/12/2007, -22/+32McCain: The last sane Republican.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16"Now, if that's not a script, then what is it?"
Do you realise how many people read this site? Do you honestly think that you are alone at any time on any page? The hits are staggeringly huge.
Do you understand that people can read recent comments as they are posted via Digg spy?
Get a grip. There is no conspiracy based around you. - Swift2, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16What he's saying is, the invasion was a great idea, but there was no reason to lie about the WMDs and Saddam's ties with 9/11 -- just tell the people that "We must invade another country when it is no big threat to us, topple the government, give it something that we want, and then the rest of the Middle East will stop loving Osama, and start buying up baseball franchises, Burka Kings, and Lee Press-On Nails. And, in gratitude, they'll love Israel and give us all 5c a gallon, non-DRM'ed gas. In fact, it was a stupid and unrealistic idea conceived of by a few people, and perpetrated on the rest of us.
McCain is calling, in case you missed it, for doubling the number of troops. Talk about 3 and a half years too late.
Hey, come get your draft cards, and God bless all our billionaires who've made fortunes on this business. - sebnukem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11"it was worth it"
The estimated final cost of this war wil be 2 trillion USD (2000 billon USD) . With this money, you could permanently solve the food and water problem of the entire African continent.
Instead it was spent to make the world quite less safe.
I guess you don't care because you won't pay for it. Your children and your decendants over 10 generations will.
It was worth it. - humanaut, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14helix400, you annoy me so much with your insane conspiracy theories that I'm now going to find everything you've ever submitted or commented on, and mod them down.
I get the feeling quite a few people do this as a reaction to your ridiculous claims.
Also, I'm going to write a script that runs from cron every 5 mins, checks whether you've commented on anything recently, and mods you down. Then I'm going to build get a network of liberal friends and we're all gonna run it like a huge botnet. Welcome to irrelevancy, helix400... population YOU. - robbiedo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11But we impeach a president for getting a blowjob from a fat chick?
- dan2, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14I've yet to see an organized effort to push political agendas from any group of liberals, only Malkin and LGF.
- FredSanford, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Uh, CSS doesn't have tags.
- Sukino, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Almost all top politicians in all countries are misleading the citizens.
- happyfappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7What a flip flopper!
- toomyw, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Did Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell tell McCain to say this? He's flopping and flipping wherever the polls take him.
Straight talk express, my a$$!!
Now that it's in vogue to protect Republicans running this fall by distancing themselves from Bush, he's jumping on the bandwagon. - 16x9, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12This is one of the aspects of Digg that I find most bizarre...
What in the hell did I write in my above comment that actually made someone take the time to mod me down?
I've said it before, I feel that Digg would be even better if you could ONLY mod up comments and NOT mod anything down. Why? because then people would have to actually think about what they are doing out of fear that they might mistakenly promote a concept they disagree with.
Right now people mod down comments that they don't like (whatever happened to "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."), or don't understand, or didn't take the time to actually read.
It's wrong! Wrong I tellz ya! :) - interiot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7As others have pointed out, McCain isn't really saying he's changed his mind. He's saying that Bush shouldn't have described the war in inaccurate terms. That's it.
In other words, he's clearly running for president. I mean, I'm a liberal and I love the guy, but it still seems like it's more of a press release with no meat to it. The most substantial change he might be proposing is to be more honest about the war, and to commit more resources to the war. At this point in the conversation, that's basically a given (unless you're for pulling out, which McCain is unlikely to support) - DocDEB, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Oh boy! The Republican sharks are smelling blood in the water. Time to run as fast as possible away form the administration. Start laying out your run in 2008.
The problem still remains --- damned if we stay and damned if we leave. Beginning to look more like a very dry Vietnam every day now. It's going to get worse between November 2006 and November 2008. - TruthElixirX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I'm under 18 to. Can't vote and don't vote are two different things.
@Bennyboy371
The people tht voted FOR Bush are a million times better than people who did not vote at all. Not voting at all is completely rediculous and idiotic. - sycomiko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7it would be nice to hear a politician stick on a single position, but in reality time changes people and there views. I was once pro Iraq war when it started, believing that it was for a legitimate security purposes but the evidence slowly surfaced that the war was a lie and i had to change my opinion about the war and greatly affected my view of the administration.
Be careful though if there view switches depending on the program they appear on! - dtfinch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If John McCain really thought that war in Iraq would be "some kind of day at the beach", maybe it was a mistake to elect him to the Senate.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"Ahh McCain, u've done it again!"
- xoxuxox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"War is fear cloaked in courage." said General William Westmoreland.
He also said, "Vietnam was the first war ever fought without any censorship. Without censorship, things can get terribly confused in the public mind." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Great boost to the arms industry!
Great boost to Halliburton stock!
um..
Chimpy gets to dress up a lot and hand out Turkey!!! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Zero political analysis? You're only repeating what has been said by others in these comments several times.
- gridbread, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Of course it was for the lie on a Federal Grand Jury, however the drive behind it is exactly why it didn't impeach him.
Looking at the actual lie itself it's COMPLETELY irrelevant to anything of importance, it's a personal matter.
Which is why he wasn't impeached.
Had it been any of the lies George Bush has made (If it was even possible to get him in that position *sigh*) where as a result MANY people have died, I'd hope if there was any justice in this world they would impeach his sorry self. - ne0shell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4McCain is a professional whore, just like the rest of them. They climb in bed with whoever they think is winning and then jump to another when the wind changes. It's time to return to a govt BY and FOR the people - where all moral men and women serve a limited term in govt and there are no more career politicians. It's the only way we can eliminate the corruption. We really need to clean house and fast, they are doing everything possible to stop us from saving this country.
- neozeed, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7more damed if we stay, iraq is hoplessly *****. Let them have their civil war, they have wanted it for quite some time, they will enjoy it. Just as long as they dont destroy the oil fields.
