- Ouze, on 12/19/2007, -1/+37I see the usual rogues gallery - harriet miers, david addington, and alberto gonzales - were knee deep in this. How unsurprising.
- Rotzooi, on 12/19/2007, -5/+25In the end, the American People are responsible. They not only voted (directly or indirectly) for the people who perpetrated these crimes, but now that they KNOW what's going on, they keep them in office.
Do you really think in any other Western country (hell, ANY country), this could happen in this point in time? People in France, Britain, Sweden or Italy would set the streets on fire if there were even rumors of ***** like this going on in their administration.
DO SOMETHING! FFS - Michael9636, on 08/04/2008, -1/+19FTA: "One former senior intelligence official with direct knowledge of the matter said there had been “vigorous sentiment” among some top White House officials to destroy the tapes."
- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -2/+17Other countries have the right to recall elections. Why don't we?
- ZenFountain, on 12/19/2007, -1/+15David Addington, that would be code talk for unscrupulous monster. "We're one bomb away from getting rid of that obnoxious court" (referring to FISA). How did it comes to this...
- Berkana, on 12/19/2007, -1/+152008 is going to be a very long year if Congress doesn't grow a pair and impeach this ridiculous administration. Hardly a day goes by without news of either new scandals, or old scandals turning out to be more severe than previously thought. Just imagine how much damage can be done in yet another year.
- anotherlawyer, on 12/19/2007, -1/+12Which one of them was responsible for determining if any court order prohibited the destruction?
And where is Rosemary Woods when you need her? - adml_shake, on 12/19/2007, -1/+12Bush Lawyers were later overheard stating:
"What the ***** do we care? Look at what Administration we work for. You guys can go bend over and take your laws where the sun don't shine" - Pherdnut, on 12/19/2007, -2/+12Trust me. Stop 'em at FISA and everybody will remember to be pissed off rather than afraid. It's gotten so bad, I don't even care about the risk of another 9/11-like event. I want my country back.
- Pherdnut, on 12/19/2007, -1/+11If you want to do something, head over to Dobbs campaign site and start making phonecalls to senators about the FISA issue before it comes back up again in January.
- sponeil, on 12/19/2007, -1/+10As sick as it is, this seems to be how lawyers work at all levels of government everywhere. I had to stop going to city council meetings where I live because I couldn't stomach all the illegal crap the city's attorney general kept recommending to help the city council members work around the law (usually to harass people to get their way). What surprised me is that they discuss crap like this all the time in front of the public. They don't even bother hiding it behind closed doors (which I take as a very bad sign).
- funkyjunk3, on 12/19/2007, -1/+10There's one little issue with that, though. Unfortunately, the place where the sun don't shine is almost full. For 7 years the Bushies have told their critics to shove it. 7 years of "shoving it" has left very little room to shove anything more. There's only so much space under there, you know.
- appetite, on 12/19/2007, -1/+10holy f'in ***** impeach already. what are they waiting for? i don't know what's worse, evil neocons or cowardly politicians who sit in office, do nothing, and collect their paychecks every 2nd friday of the month.
- loggia, on 12/19/2007, -2/+10These people protect themselves. They do not protect you. They protect their own interests. They do not protect your interests. They believe that the end justifies the means and that they can do anything, including violating the law and lying, to achieve their goals. They believe they have to answer to no one, including the constitution, the Supreme Court and the American people
Time and time and time again this has been demonstrated. Just imagine if this is what is coming out NOW, what else has happened that we will find out about in the years to come? - garhent, on 12/19/2007, -3/+11It reads more like the Bush regime has already set up Alberto Gonzales as the fall guy for burning the tapes. I expect a televised announcement in the future how our "Great Leader" was sadly upset that the tapes were destroyed and that him and Cheney were totally out of the loop and it was a surprise. Further he won't rest until Alberto Gonzales is sent to jail. Meanwhile on the day Bush leaves office he'll pardon everyone who kept their mouths shut on his dirt. What a country, I'm learning German and moving to the EU, sick of the corporations having more rights than the US own citizens.
- rosullivan, on 12/19/2007, -2/+8Amen, brother. I want my country back too.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 12/19/2007, -1/+7There's no bread, let them eat cake
There's no end to what they'll take
Flaunt the fruits of noble birth
Wash the salt into the earth
But they're marching to Bastille Day
La guillotine will claim her bloody prize
Free the dungeons of the innocent
The king will kneel and let his kingdom rise - TopherT, on 12/19/2007, -1/+7I think we should institute votes of no confidence in this country. Do you guys really think a vote to extend more war funding would get more than 50%?
- totorototoro, on 12/19/2007, -2/+7Harriet Miers? You mean the woman President Bush proclaimed was the most qualified person in the U.S. to be on the Supreme Court? :p
- raoulduke87, on 12/19/2007, -1/+6first of all, it's spelled C-O-V-E-R-T (apparently Republicans don't believe in evolution or spell check). Second of all, have you seen the tapes? If not then how do you know that the information garnered saved American lives? Because the President told you so? Well, as far as taking the administration at their word, the country is still waiting on those WMDs and those Iranian nukes.
- omgTHEPATRIOTS, on 12/19/2007, -1/+6wow, another three brain-celled neanderthal.
- natedouglas, on 12/19/2007, -1/+5David Addington and Henry Kissinger: Separated at Birth?
- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -1/+4I imagine the discussion went something like "Hell yeah destroy them tapes! They are evidence of crimes that the President specifically authorized, and to this day maintains the right to further authorize despite being specifically banned by law! Burn the *****!"
- digjam, on 12/19/2007, -1/+4you guys never get the point!
- kreneskyp, on 12/19/2007, -1/+4They can obscure faces and voices in videos easily enough.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 12/19/2007, -1/+3"Of course the White House had lawyers involved."
Allow me to chime in with you: "What do you have against houses? People need somewhere to live, and houses are great. Some houses are white. What's the big deal?"
Wow! Missing the point IS fun! - williamdyer, on 12/19/2007, -1/+3Our history should inform us that the tree of Liberty needs to be watered.
- TopherT, on 12/19/2007, -3/+5At least stay to vote in the primaries and presidential election.
- inactive, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2I just friended you! You are now part of the right wing conspiracy on Digg.com. Come join the party! I'll even make room for a Ron Paul lover because your heart and mind are in the right place.
- Malig, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2Sounds like a good time for some housecleaning. Expect to hear that alot of these rats are escaping their sinking ship.
- spinchange, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2Keeping the apple-dunking videos in the man-sized safe just isn't enough protection, these days
/sarcasm - inactive, on 12/20/2007, -1/+2"What a country, I'm learning German and moving to the EU, sick of the corporations having more rights than the US own citizens." Let me know when you are ready to go...I'll flip you the bird. Oh hell...why wait!
- BlacklabelSAR, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Geeks on computers? Blasphemy! ;)
- TopherT, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1huh?
- BlacklabelSAR, on 12/19/2007, -1/+2"You have to be a terrorist while dealing with a terrorist! THATS THE BOTTOMLINE!"
Consider this in intervention. That was the most moronic statement of the day. Please consider that if we are fighting something, then we think that something is bad. If we become the bad thing we are fighting, then we have lost.
Imagine that "the terrorists" realize that they have reduced a free open society, to a fearful, savage, freedomless society. That's a win for them.
Now go and be stupid no more! - loggia, on 12/19/2007, -1/+2Jakeson2, you wouldn't make a very good detective. Let's begin with a case called "That guy stole my wallet."
Citizen: That guy stole my wallet.
Criminal: No, I didn't.
You: He said he didn't do it.
Criminal: I also saved a guy's life.
Citizen: What, this is crazy.
You: M'am, this man is a hero.
Citizen: I want to file a report.
You: You are going to prevent this man from saving other people!
Criminal: I love America.
Citizen: How do you know which of is telling the truth? You didn't even investigate.
You: M'am, I always use the one source which tells me exactly what I want to hear.
Citizen: This is an outrage.
You: If you file that report, you are making it harder for me to do my job protecting people.
Criminal: You should investigate that. - BlacklabelSAR, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1That was to digjam, my bad.
- raoulduke87, on 12/19/2007, -2/+2The tapes actually depicted a CIA officer playing Stratego with Osama Bin Laden. They were burned because the casual nature of the interrogation might ruin the CIA's international street-cred and because Bin Laden won.
- lolo2007, on 02/23/2008, -0/+0holy f'in ***** impeach already. what are they waiting for? i don't know what's worse, evil neocons or cowardly politicians who sit in office, do nothing, and collect their paychecks every 2nd friday of the month.
http://download.paramegsoft.com/ - inactive, on 12/20/2007, -2/+2People in France, Britain, Sweden or Italy are all pussies! All together they would go out and do what....together they haven't got one eighth the country those of us in the US have.
- raoulduke87, on 12/19/2007, -2/+1A Rush reference? Further affirming the assumption that most diggers are geeks. Dude, you just got your ass dugg up for that one!
- sundancekid503, on 12/19/2007, -7/+3The people of any "western" country would have put an end to this by now? You don't know your history too well do you?
- kreatre2007, on 12/19/2007, -7/+2Well duh!!! Of course the White House had lawyers involved. There's nothing sordid or evil about that.
- jakeson2, on 12/19/2007, -8/+2What a bunch of hypocrites. Wow, reading these diggs is something to behold. All you liberals whined and complained forever about Novak telling what Plame was doing, even though she was NOT covert. Here we have a case that COVET agents interrogated a terrorists and got information that actually saved lives. And you all want to let the New York Times to leak their names put those agent's lives at risk as well as the rest of the story. You guys are REALLY something!!!!!
- digjam, on 12/19/2007, -12/+3i dont understand whats the big deal about interrogating terrorists, govt can use any kind of force to extract info out of them.... whys the human rights making such a big deal out of it?
where were they hiding when they bombed and killed so many innocent civilians accross the world..! fkng morons
CIA shouldnt have destroyed rather made it public to show how much valuable info was acquired by these interrogations... that would shut everybody off..
You have to be a terrorist while dealing with a terrorist! THATS THE BOTTOMLINE! - funkyjunk3, on 12/19/2007, -11/+2How droll... The *same* actors, the *same* damn plot. Can't they come up with anything better than world domination plots?

What is Digg?
