Bush Ignores Accomplishments: Democrats Are 'Running a Do-Nothing Congress'
bodypolitik.org — Yesterday, President Bush “derided Democrats for running a do-nothing Congress that has failed to address critical domestic, economic and security issues in the nine months since they took control of Capitol Hill.” But in reality, it seems that the American public would rather Republicans “do nothing” than obstruct the Democratic agenda.

- VIrus9, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3Lately? Where have you been for the last twenty years?
- sonicEd, on 10/18/2007, -1/+2Isn't do-nothing what we want? Ron Pauler's?
- ponstars, on 10/19/2007, -2/+13We need a 3rd party in the US - what we have is not working!
- sfpfc, on 10/18/2007, -1/+1This looks like a job for Ron Paul
- CrazyArcher, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money
for people with minds that hate
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
Ah
ah, ah, ah, ah, ah...
You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You better free you mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be all right
all right, all right
all right, all right, all right
all right, all right, all right
- cashman57, on 10/19/2007, -1/+6The Democrats ran on a platform of getting us out of Iraq and doing the work that Congress is supposed to do.
They heaped their derision on Republicans who didn't finish the budget and instaed put the government on auto-spend with a continuing resolution.
The Democrat led Congress passed a continuing resolution instead of a budget when the fiscal year ended this month and there doesn't seem to be any hope that they will be sending a budget to the president any time soon.
They have passed meaningless resolutions.
They have held scores of hearings.
They have made some serious accusations on the floor of the House but what they have yet to do is the work they were hired to do.
They managed to find $30,000 for a chunk of gold to give away but can't fund the business of the Nation?
If they don't want to be called a do-nothing Congress perhaps they should do something about the budget! - jfowler27, on 10/19/2007, -0/+8The Republicans are idiots and the Democrats, weak idiots. We need to stop voting along party lines and vote for the PEOPLE who best represent us. Alas, I fear that America will be engrossed in partisan politics, where debates are held on the floor for meaningless resolutions, while the walls of our nation come crashing down around us.
- GRTWHT, on 10/19/2007, -1/+3Too many intelligent posts, guaranteed to be buried by the hard-core politicals from both sides.
- ViperDaimao, on 10/19/2007, -1/+4they are a do nothing congress, that's why I voted for them. I don't want congress screwing up america anymore. We should have 2 rules. To make a law you need 75% of votes, and to get rid of a law you need 25% of votes.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3We _need_ Congress to be doing something. Without them, the system of checks and balances falls apart completely, and the Executive branch would essentially have complete power.
- dorthensensens, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1I voted a democrat representative and senator in my area with the now proved false promise for change and impeachment of Bush and his Vice President. So, ashamedly, I agree for the first time in his tenure at the Federal level, with Bush...He's practically daring congress to do something about his policies and yet they still sit on their asses. Even if someone pursued impeachment at a purely symbolic level, that would be at the very least SOMETHING I would applaud congress for.
- realwx, on 10/19/2007, -1/+651 Democrats and 49 Republicans vs. President Bush, and with Bush vetoing everything Congress passes, we need 60 Democrats to override President Bush.
Digg me down if you want, but it's why I don't think Congress is a do-nothing congress, just Bush being a chimpy president.- sbader, on 10/19/2007, -3/+1Yep the democrats screwed themselves by not getting a big enough majority to get things done, so everything they want to do but can't due to the numbers gets laid on top of their heads and the republicans in congress get off easy and will probably get their majority back next time. It's more of a lame congress than a do nothing congress.
- fractalman, on 10/19/2007, -1/+4It is also true that Bush never vetoed a single bill until the Dems took over congress.
- heaintheavy, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Hey, but at least the Senate hates MoveOn.org!
- totorototoro, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3Now lets be fair. The Demos have only been in charge of Congress for nine months..hardly enough time to match the unbridled spending, corruption charges, and indictments that the Republicans racked up in the previous years they were in power :p Show some patience.
- nykat, on 10/19/2007, -0/+0No prob. LIke Sam Cooke said, "Change gonna come."
